“My works are like an exploration, a ‘Circle of Life’ that swirls and meanders falling eventually into its own rhythm.”

Carlos Aranha, International Art Award Winner, is a Canadian contemporary artist of Ecuadorian descent. He is an artist in the true sense, in addition to being a painter, he also creates environmental installations, organic sculptures, and has produced art documentaries. He has illustrated poets’ manuscripts and his artworks have been featured in several prominent art books and magazines.

Carlos works in acrylic on canvas. His pieces have a lyrical quality, with bold graphic pictograms that swirl and rise up like a less austere version of the works of the modern American painter, Franz Kline.

At times one feels it is painted calligraphy of an unknown language. In some works, you see an outline of a human family or a group of people, or is it the viewer’s imagination playing tricks! Whatever may be the artist’s intent, there is a strong connection to life. Like a study of flora, with vine-like plants rising up above the ground, swirling upwards, like a melody rising up to a crescendo, ending in a high pitched bright red note.

He has more than three decades of experience as a professional artist and a long list of solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Carlos’ artwork can be found in permanent collections in several Art Museums around the globe as well as in public and private art collections.
