Q&A
The founders in their element.
CE: Share with us... What is The Bespoke Pedaler? EH: The Bespoke Pedaler as an archetype is a person who values movement, human interaction, and spontaneity as key elements in their life, that are framed by an urban existence. They tend to live or work closer to the city center and prefer to be experiencing life outside of their car, which translates to a heightened sensory experience. They love travel and they desire to have an effortless transition from scene to scene in their life in the most customized fashion. The Bespoke Pedaler as a brand supports this person in the form of an urban lifestyle boutique for both men & women devoted to curating a diverse and technically refined collection of garments & goods for a highly mobile life. Commute, bike, walk, travel, work, dine, hike, and everything in between. No separate wardrobe required.
CE: The best business advice ever received? EH: Don’t focus on each day as a view of success. And don’t let your perception of each day’s performance influence your emotions. CE: When did The Bespoke Pedaler come to fruition and why Platte Street? EH: The Bespoke Pedaler came to be in late 2012 and the concept was developed and nurtured until we opened last July. Platte Street was our target from the beginning because of the reasons mentioned above. So much connectivity occurs here- The Confluence is like a hub for human powered transportation with spokes extending in all directions to so many neighborhoods and activities. CE: Perfect day in Denver? EH: Well riding a bike all over town, of course. To whatever and wherever. I should also note that this perfection is truly achieved in the 60-75 degree temperature range :-)

. CE: What does it mean to be part of the LoHi + Riverfront community? EH: This community is unique in that it has the convergence of a muiltitude of trails and bike friendly streets coming together right near our shop. This means that people are moving to and from and connecting and traveling; and this movement, this human energy is what we are attempting to support. CE: Best part about owning your own business? EH: Deciding the best way to spend my time on any given day. Making the mundane creative sometimes takes longer. But it’s more rewarding.

Q&A
Co-Founders Emily Hogle and Rick Evans pose in the heart of Riverfront Park neighborhood.
CE: Your favorite designer icons? EH: Well being an interior designer by profession, I will have to say the architect John Pawson. While his design principles might not translate to all scenarios - I marvel at his ability to conjure reverence at every turn. He has a way of making purity a warm and magical experience by allowing the human activity to be the adornment. CE: Share with us about the space? What inspired the design? EH: The space is designed to have an effortless simplicity that allows the products to stand out. We used a lot of recliamed, locally sourced and sometimes unfinished wood to layer in warmth and character. There is an industrial quality but it’s not overly rugged. The result is an unassuming space that is inviting, approachable, and lacking in fuss.
CE: Insiders tip: spring must have? EH: Women: The Ligne 8 Anson Jumpsuit. It’s a limited stock item and it’s adorable. Also, the Nau Succinct Trench. Men: Anything Parker Dusseau, preferably paired with Amos Brand. CE: What brands do you carry that no other store has in Denver? EH: The vast majority! There is only a small handful of brands that overlap with other retail stores and that is because some cases they are the only brand doing what they do in such a great way. Some notable brands that are current exclusive to us (bearing in mind that this can always change) are: Nau, Ligne 8, Vespertine, Amos Brand, Riyoko, Cadence Collection & Parker Dusseau.
