WELCOME
Welcome to the Summer 'Change' issue 2020

hen thinking of the name for this issue of QueenBee, ‘change’ seemed to be the obvious choice. What a time of change it’s been for all us in so many different ways. Some good, some bad and some truly awful. When smiles have been replaced by masks, phrases like ‘social distancing’, ‘furlough’ and the ‘2 metre rule’ have become everyday phrases while handshakes and hugs totally off limits. Isn't it amazing how quickly we have adapted to this new and strange world? From Zooming clients and home schooling to neighbourhood WhatsApp groups and netflix binging, over the last three months, digital platforms have become the only way for many of us to work, get fit or be educated and entertained. Could the world change for the better after coronavirus? As awful as this pandemic has been for many people, it could bring lasting positive changes too. While the world was in lockdown, climate change and emissions saw their biggest drop since world war two.

The rise of online meetings has shown what can be achieved without travel do we really need large city offices with staff relying on crowded public transport or sitting in traffic every day? As the earth began to breath and heal with cleaner air, clearer oceans, liberated wildlife and tranquil roads, lockdown seemed to offer a sense of how a greener world might feel. And as lockdown starts to ease who knows what will happen next? Let's hope that once the hardship of this situation is behind us, we will reap the benefits of some of the new habits we've formed, whether it's shopping local more, helping out your elderly neighbours or baking our own bread. I hope you enjoy this issue of QueenBee - we've dotted some positive messages throughout the pages to help inspire and motivate you to stay positive.
