that make you smile like Dr. Limbo and Poppy the Clown, aerial silks and belly dancing with Conan the Barbarian. Costumes and creativity are always present and, while we have grown, the authentic spirit remains. Kudos to all those that have been part of this Fair all these years. Who still lend a hand in one way or another and still believe that the magic lies in all of us.
For the 50th we have set up a space for people to record their favorite Mountain Fair memory or to talk about how they are involved in the Fair. Join Luke Nestler from 10 am - noon and 4 pm - 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday and check out all the fun paraphernalia at the Carbondale History Booth. 50 Years of Fair Podcast can be streamed on kdnk.org
Carbondale Historical Society creates a sense of connection to Carbondale and its people through shared stories, photos, historical records and artifacts, available on our website and at our two museums:
Thompson, one of the first settlers in the Crystal River Valley. The home is filled with the furniture, decor and personal belongings of its original inhabitants Hattie and Oscar Holland, and their Thompson family descendants. The Dinkel Mercantile Museum replicates the early 1900s frontier store built by William Dinkel, the “Daddy of Carbodnale.” It features a souvenir shop, apothecary and displays of Ute Indians, mining and ranching history.
