RALLY AT FAMILY KITCHEN LEAMINGTON — What started as a local restaurateur’s wish to open her doors for indoor dining, turned into a rally for those feeling oppressed by the Ontario government’s recent shutdown meaures. About 200 people gathered in front of Family Kitchen Restaurant and the Leamington CIBC on Tuesday morning. News of the Family Kitchen staying open for indoor dining broke on social media on Easter Monday and the rally gained momentum overnight into Tuesday. Many travelled from outside of Leamington to attend and show their solidarity against health guidelines. Sun photo
YOUTH ATTEND SHRINE LEAMINGTON — Gore Hill Public School students received a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny and his wife (a.k.a. Educational Assistant Sylvia Ward and Custodian Matt Gould). The pair waved a few friendly hellos and toured the hallways. The Easter Bunny and friend toured the hallways of Gore Hill in the top photo. LEAMINGTON — Several local youth attended the Our Lady of Lebanon Shrine on Highway 77 prior to the Easter holiday in order to utilize the outdoor Station of the Cross trail. The grounds are accessible to everyone, regardless of denomination. The St. Anthony’s Parish is planning a new church in addition to a Maronite nursing home in the future. They recently welcomed a new priest, hailing from Calgary. His name is Father Michael Kassas, with 13 years of experience as a chaplain for the hospital and senior home there. Father Kassas is also bi-ritual, which means that he can celebrate mass at any Latin Roman Catholic Church and any Maronite Roman Catholic Church. Photo submitted
