Spanish language courses in the Caribbean The 'Hispaniola" Academia Caribe de Lenguas, offers Spanish language courses from January to November in the Dominican Republic, the Pearl of the Caribbean.
The Dominican Republic The Dominican Republic shares with Haiti one of the most impressive islands in the Caribbean. From unspoilt beaches (approximately 1.500 kilometers) to mountains over 3,000 meters in height, the flora, fauna, and climate offer enough variety to satisfy all tastes. The visitor can enjoy not only its 500 years of Western history but the most beautiful and impressive beaches in the Caribbean, tempting Creole gastronomic specialties, the warmth and hospitality of its ever smiling an happy people, the emotive notes of the "merengue" and the sensual colors of "salsa" and "bolero". The Dominican Republic is the home of the UASD (Autonomous University of Santo Domingo), the oldest in the New World and other prestigious Universities.
Santo Domingo The school is situated in the capital of Dominican Republic, which is the oldest city of the New World: Santo Domingo
de Guzman. The city is called the Cradle of America" and it is the most exciting and interesting city on the whole island.
The Intensive Course includes 1 or 2 extra periods (in the afternoons) of group or private lessons.
Founded in 1496, Santo Domingo boasts the first Cathedral, the first University (1538), the first hospital and the first monastery in the Americas. These historic relies are still present and well conserved. Historic monuments, museums, theatres, art galleries, night clubs, casinos, cinemas, gymnasium and sport facilities and whatever else is needed to satisfy the demands of the ever-growing tourism industry.
The Personal Course is similar to the Standard Course but with 1 student and 1 teacher. Extra lessons in the afternoon can be arranged.
All this is within a short distance of the best beaches in the whole country: BocaChica, Guayacanes, Juan Dolio, Guibia and Palenque.
The "Hispaniola" Academy Modern teaching methods, professional organization and enthusiasm guarantee that student will learn as much as possible in a short time. The courses are based on the daily, practical and continuous use of Spanish. In school and during the lessons the emphasis is on communication and the spoken language. The Standard Course offers classes consisting of maximum 6-8 people at 8 different levels. Each level is the responsibility of 2 teachers and is divided into 2 periods of grammatical input and 2 periods of conversation. Each individual period lasts 50 minutes.
A Grading Test both written and oral takes place on the first day to establish the level at which each student is advised to study.
Free time It is not all school and study! The Academy organizes cultural and social activities almost on a daily basis. Under shady palms on unspoilt beaches you can relax while in the air you can hear the joyful strains of "merengue". Every moment is filled with pleasure. Caribbean nights full of "salsa" and "merengue", "cuba libre" and "piña colada", friends and adventures are lively and exiting without any question of "what are we going to do this evening?” Let yourself be carried away by the waves of music, the tides of colors, the flow of sensations and be careful not to end up on the rocks! The Academy organizes upon request courses of dancing, Creole cookery and guided excursion at the weekend. You can choose how to spend your time from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening from suggestion like: the Little
