MOST The
TIME OF YEAR Magical
Hello, Palm Beach! It feels so good to be back on the island, and just in time for the most special time— the holidays. Seeing the snoring Santa Claus in the window of Kassatly’s and the Worth Avenue Christmas tree shining bright are just two of the little things that put a smile on my face. They’re the best!
I feel like 2024 went by so fast. Since our Spring 2024 issue, we had a wonderful celebration at the new Carolina Herrera boutique with cover stars Grandma Gail and Kim Murstein. And just after that, I got married right here on the island! It was the most magical day and weekend of my life. I couldn’t imagine exchanging vows with my husband anywhere else, and I will forever cherish that Palm Beach was our backdrop. Then it was time to head back up north to the Hamptons for Spotlight’s jam-packed summer season. We hosted numerous events with our brand partners and featured cover stars Dylan Lauren and Candace Bushnell— and made countless memories, too.
Now, we’re back in the most glamorous part of the country with our annual holiday issue. And there’s a lot happening in PB. It’s as though our island gets buzzier and buzzier with each passing season. I feel like when I was growing up, Palm Beach was one of the best-kept secrets. Known to those who mainly had homes or multigenerational history, it’s now become one of the hottest tourist attractions. Just look at TV shows like Palm Royale; Instagram and TikTok accounts shedding light on the miraculous fashion of PB’s style set; the return of the who’s who at the
the socials, so we got the tea from the belle behind the screen, Devorah Ezagui. And don’t forget to indulge in five pages of our ultimate holiday gift guide featuring an eclectic assortment of presents for your loved ones, and of course, for yourself, too.
We’re hosting plenty of parties this season! E-mail me to get on our events list, and tag us on social media with a picture of you reading a copy of Spotlight. And subscribe to our new newsletter, “The Bright Spot,” for exclusive content weekly! Happy holidays, and happy Spotlighting!

GIRL BOSS GUIDE
Just in time for 2025, here are some basics for creating and developing your brand—and the key to success just might be in thinking backward!
Building businesses and brands is something I never thought I would be doing. When asked as a child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” the word “entrepreneur” basically didn’t exist in my vocabulary. But once I discovered the world of brand building— and then realized that I could start one of my own—the world became an incredibly beautiful place! One where all the things we thought weren’t possible actually were, and shockingly the tools to create it were all around me.
But to get to that place and state of mind is truly the first step! For me, it started with my childhood. As the daughter of two Indian immigrant parents and the only Indian family in my rural Pennsylvania town, brands gave me a way to connect. I would spend my allowance taking the bus into New York City, walking Fifth Avenue for hours in pure joy. Buying from the well-known brands gave me a way to connect and form friendships with those around me.
Fast-forward a few decades, and I made a career out of “adult window shopping,” building brands for major retail pillars like Federated (Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s), VF Corporation (Nautica), and then Victoria’s Secret.
We regularly think of people as influential, but rarely do we think the same about brands. Yet they impact us all day every day in every aspect of our lives—from the shoes you’re wearing, to the car you drive, to the products you use while getting ready. The brands you choose to weave into your life have become an integral part of your day because those brands spoke to you.
So the question for me was: Are the legacy brands building brands the right way? Is it the best way for today? At its simplest, the way we normally build brands and products boils down to a few core steps: In our pristine conference rooms in large corporate towers
shoes? Why do we wear sports bras and 60 percent of the time not work out?
Instead of expensive market research, we used Google Forms on text and Instagram DMs. Rather than PowerPoints, we used Post-it notes and photo association games.
from day one. We discovered that success isn’t built on convincing humans to buy a product, but on passion, purpose, and connection. It worked so well—and I had so much fun doing it—that I decided to do it again! I launched GORGIE in 2022 with a few viral social media videos we made in my backyard. We asked people, “What would make wellness fun?” This curiosity took us from tinkering with cellular renewal to realizing there was a vast billiondollar industry that needs both wellness and a fresh vibe. We went from a “what if” on social media to now building the nation’s No. 1 fastest-growing energy drink in the natural channel.
So, yes, the answer in my opinion is to build your brand backward! Instead of starting with a product, start with a curiosity, and one you cannot stop thinking about. Instead of spending money convincing consumers to buy, spend your time creating a culture. Instead of creating in an ivory tower, co-create with a community out in the world.
In today’s world, success isn’t about convincing people to want what you create; it’s about cultivating a community to create something extraordinary together T
TIME TO TAKE STOCK
Why not let go of those old worries and embrace some new possibilities for the new year? Here’s a bit of advice to set you on the right path!
As 2024 comes to a close we’re offered an opportunity to step back and take stock. Once a year we’re given a brief moment “in between”—that time when we’re suspended between the past and the future—to assess what worked, what didn’t, and what’s worth carrying forward from the year before. It’s not about closing the door on the past, but rather using it as a reference point for what’s ahead. With each new year comes the chance to adjust priorities, set fresh goals, and to continue building on the foundation laid over the past 12 months. This moment serves as a subtle prompt to reflect, regroup, and move forward with purpose. In this spirit of renewal, here are a few insights from my own experiences this past year.
1. Take care of your body and mind. Over the past year, I’ve come to realize just how interconnected the two are. As I get older, I feel the effects of stress in ways I didn’t before. When I’m stressed, it doesn’t just live in my head. It shows up physically, too. I feel
On the flip side, when I take care of my body. I find that my mind is clearer, more focused, and more resilient. The connection is undeniable. A healthy body supports a healthy mind, and a healthy mind, in turn, supports a healthy body. Whether it’s committing to a regular exercise routine, spending time outdoors, or making the time for a breathing practice, I’m reminded that my overall well-being is the foundation for everything else in my life. It’s not just about physical fitness; it’s about nurturing my mental health as well.
2. Nurture your personal relationships. It’s easy to get caught up in the demands of work, family, and life, and sometimes we forget to make time for the people who matter most. I’ve found that when I make the effort to connect with others, whether it’s by calling a friend I haven’t spoken to in a while or planning quality time with family, the return is immeasurable. In the past, I’ve fallen into the trap of trying to “kill two birds with one stone,” grouping social time into work events. But lately, I’ve noticed that this approach doesn’t fulfill me the way it used to. I’m craving authentic, one-on-one time with friends where I can truly be myself, without the pressure of being pulled in multiple directions or being distracted by other responsibilities. So when I find myself slipping into old patterns, I remember to ask myself: Are the people I love getting the best of me or the rest of me?
be a leader at work, step into that role and own it. If you dream of exploring the world, start traveling—whether it’s a weekend getaway or a day trip to a nearby town you’ve never visited. The key is to start. There’s no better time than now to define what you want and begin laying the groundwork to achieve it.
3. Forgive yourself and others. Nothing weighs me down more than regret or holding a grudge, so this year, I’m making a conscious effort to let it all go. Yes, it’s hard sometimes to swallow your pride or set aside your emotions, but forgiveness is one of the quickest ways to free yourself. A friend and colleague once shared a saying that stuck with me: “You never know what’s in someone’s brown bag.” It’s a reminder that you can never truly understand what others
For me, adventure has always been a driving force, and in 2025, I’m determined to embrace even more of it. I want to take a leap and do something that scares me; something that pushes me outside my comfort zone. That rush of adrenaline, the sense of accomplishment that comes from tackling something you once thought was out of reach—that’s what I’m craving again. And I know that every new challenge, no matter how daunting, is an opportunity for growth and a step closer to the life I envision.
So what’s your next step? Whatever it is, the time to start is now. As the year winds down and we look ahead to what’s next, I hope these insights provide some inspiration. Let’s enter the new year with intention, clarity, and a commitment to being the best versions of ourselves. T
HOW TO RING IN 2025
If you’re celebrating at home versus heading to one of the island’s hottest parties, we get it—staying in can be just as much fun. Our entertaining expert is here to make your in-house event the perfect year-end grand finale.
Acelestial theme is a great choice for a New Year’s Eve party as it evokes the beauty and mystery of the cosmos while celebrating new beginnings. As 2024 comes to a close, this starry motif provides a magical backdrop to encourage reflection and excitement.
ENCHANTING ATMOSPHERE
The celestial theme inherently brings an enchanting atmosphere to your celebration. Think deep blues and glimmering gold accents that mimic the night sky. This color palette not only creates an elegant setting but also invites guests to feel like they’re stepping into a cosmic wonderland. Navy tapers can enhance the ambiance, simulating a starlit sky and fostering a sense of awe and inspiration. For a pop of gold, go for shiny balloons, or if you’re feeling crafty, you can spray-paint some dried flowers in lieu of colorful bouquets.
THEMED FOOD AND DRINK
The snacks and beverages you serve can also reflect the celestial theme. Consider creating a “galaxy” punch, featuring swirling colors that mimic the look of nebulas, or serve appetizers in the shape of stars. For dessert, you can bake a cake or pie decorated with the moon phases. Or you can order some
THE COUNTDOWN
As midnight approaches, consider a unique countdown that’s relevant to everything else. For example, you could have a balloon drop filled with glitter or star confetti, or even a “star shower” where guests release sparkling confetti shaped like stars as the clock strikes 12.
A celestial theme for a New Year’s Eve party offers an enchanting, symbolic, and creative way to ring in the new year. With thoughtful decorations, thematic food and drinks, and a creative countdown, your celebration will set a beautiful tone for the year to come. Embrace the cosmos,

DATING ONLINE DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON
Meeting new people at this festive time of year is a gift that keeps on giving. It’s the most romantic season, after all! Our resident dating expert shares her five tips for finding love now.
The holidays are always so much fun—especially when you’re a snowbird and you get to escape your frigid hometown to spend quality time in sunny Palm Beach. Whether you’re in the snow or the sun, the need for rom-com holiday always gets much stronger around this time. We’re served up Lifetime movie after Hallmark film of these incredible meet-cutes and it only makes sense to want that for ourselves. But it’s important to be realistic. Here are my best practices for online dating during your holiday season:
1. Get to the In-Person Date ASAP
Even though the holidays are exciting, they can be lonely. Especially if you’re spending it with family members who are all partnered off. Talking back and forth on a dating app can become pretty monotonous if you aren’t going to turn
exchanges minimal and get them to meet you IRL sooner rather than later. Besides, you might not be in town for that long!
2. Use Family Time as an Icebreaker
We all know holiday dinners with our family can turn disastrous. Your crazy uncle is telling you your political beliefs are wrong or your grandfather is going on a questionable rant. The good part is that this is highly relatable. Use whatever just went down at your table as a conversation starter with the person you’re chatting to. I guarantee they’re experiencing it, too.
3. Get Festive and Creative
There’s an ice-skating rink in town for a reason. Take advantage! It’s okay to do fun, touristy, festive things during this time. It might not result in you getting married under a Christmas wreath by the week’s end, but you can at least have a fun memory of the time you drank hot cocoa, strolled on the beach, or walked through
Many of us are here visiting or on vacation. This means we may not live in the place where we’re spending our holiday. You meeting this new person on a dating app hopefully leads to a longterm romance, but you could also be geographically undesirable for each other. If this is the case, make sure it’s something you can handle when you decide to go out with this potential date.
5. Have Realistic Expectations
This goes back to the unrealistic romcoms of the holiday season. Wouldn’t it be romantic if we fell in love with the British prime minister like in Love Actually? Of course it would. But is that likely to happen? No. So it’s best to keep your expectations low during this holiday dating season, and you might be pleasantly surprised instead of gravely disappointed.
Whatever happens during this time of year, you’re already winning. There’s nothing better than a holiday spent in a sunny, beautiful place. If you’re single, soak it up. Your forever person might walk into your life tomorrow.

Jingle All the Way
Multigenerations of families flood our beloved island, and while there’s something special about decades of history, there’s also so much beauty in welcoming the new. Meet Roos, a model who’s graced the runways and campaigns of iconic brands and has both beauty and brains. She’s made Palm Beach not only her home but her runway.
BY SYDNEY SADICK | PHOTOGRAPHY BY AZALEA JEANETTE
Roos, you’re a model known for your work with Victoria’s Secret, Tom Ford, and more. How did you get discovered?
I was discovered by a Dutch male model. He was signed with a New York agency and asked if he could take a picture of me and send it to their scout, who was also Dutch. I never thought about modeling before, but I was in my last year of high school at the time and after a trip with my mom to New York City and meeting the team at the agency, I decided to give it a shot. What was your first modeling gig?
My first real job was a campaign for Urban Outfitters. I had to travel all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina, which was
Roos’ Fashion: Akris one shoulder mini dress; Jennifer Miller oval drop earrings and fringe beaded bag; Steve Madden Benni heels
such a cool destination—the end of the world! I remember feeling a mix of nerves and excitement; it was surreal to be in front of the camera professionally, and I wasn’t really sure what to do. That experience taught me a lot, especially about embracing confidence and just having fun with it! How did you land with Victoria’s Secret?
I had already been working with the brand for a few years before trying out to walk the show. After several rounds of casting, they had me come back and surprised me, telling me I had booked the show. I remember feeling so grateful. It was a dream come true! What are some highlights from your Victoria’s Secret days?
The behind-the-scenes moments with the other girls, the adrenaline rush right before stepping out—it’s hard to describe how incredible it felt. Being part of that world was so exciting, and I have the best memories of it. Why did you decide to move to PB?
I kind of ended up in Palm Beach by accident; our friends invited us to come down. After going back and forth between Miami and Palm Beach, we settled on Palm Beach. I was loving living in a place that was beautiful, inspiring, and allowed for a balanced life after NYC. Palm Beach felt like the perfect mix of sophistication, calmness, and natural beauty—it’s my little paradise. Who’s in your local circle here?
It’s a wonderful mix! Some of my friends are also in the fashion industry, but most are creatives, entrepreneurs, and locals. Everyone has a unique story. What do you think is the biggest misconception about life here?
People often think it’s just a vacation destination, but Palm Beach has so much more depth. There’s a real sense of community here, a creative side, and a focus on wellness and balance. Where do you like to eat and shop?
I love going to Amici Market for my morning juice. For dinner, there are so many delicious options. My current favorites are a bar seat

at Palm Beach Grill or picking up Pizzaioli.
I’m more of an online shopper, but I always find amazing things at The Church Mouse. How do you celebrate the holidays?
For Christmas, I like to be with friends and family, eat good food, and take it easy. It’s usually the only time I get to relax. New Year’s is a good chance to set intentions. I always do a vision board night with friends. What did you enjoy most about your childhood in the Netherlands?
I loved the simplicity of it. I grew up surrounded by nature, and I spent a lot of time being active. I feel fortunate that I had an easy childhood with loving parents. They still live in the house I was born in!
Who are you modeling for these days?
I’m working with a mix of brands from luxury fashion to beauty, but most importantly I love working with brands that prioritize sustainability and align with my values. Tell us about Butter Palm Beach!
Butter Palm Beach is my baby—a clean skincare line with a focus on high-quality ingredients. Each product is handmade in small batches and designed to nurture the skin naturally. It’s all about simple, effective skincare that makes you feel your best. I haven’t launched it yet but will soon! What are your hidden passions?
I’m a big reader! I love getting lost in a good book, whether it’s fiction that transports
me to another world or nonfiction that challenges my perspective. What’s next for you?
I’m excited to continue building Butter Palm Beach and exploring new creative avenues. I’m also looking for ways to make a positive impact in the beauty and wellness world. T

Was there a moment when you realized you had a hit on your hands?
It was when our community started engaging deeply with the content, sharing their own experiences and showing excitement for what was to come. How do you describe PB style?
It’s a perfect marriage of classic refinement and bold elegance. It’s all about timeless pieces with a twist of bright colors, playful patterns, and impeccable attention to detail. It’s a style that speaks to confidence and sophistication, with just the right touch of fun.
Fave features on your account?
Each iconic individual I feature brings something unique. It’s not just about their style, but their entire energy. Age is truly just a number in my opinion. These iconic and inspiring individuals embody the timeless elegance and vibrancy of Palm Beach. Beyond that, I enjoy showcasing iconic estates and hidden gems, celebrating the full Palm Beach lifestyle from fashion to philanthropy.
You lived in Palm Beach for some of your childhood. What made you decide to move back?
There’s something truly timeless about Palm Beach. Even though I’ve lived in many exciting places, I’ve always been drawn back to its tranquility, beauty, and charm. It offers an ideal blend of sophistication and relaxation, and I feel fortunate to be here, fully immersed in this paradise during the season.
