THIRD TIME’S a charm
Hi, Spotlight readers! It’s great to be back here with you in our favorite place. I can’t believe it’s already our third year of Spotlight Hamptons. We’ve paved the way for the resurgence of print media in a time when all we heard was “print is dead.” But Spotlight has proven that through interesting, accessible, and current content—and a loyal readership base like ours—the sky is absolutely the limit.
It’s been a busy year for the Spotlight team—and me! I got married to my husband, Nick, in Palm Beach, in March. It was the most special weekend of my life,
surrounded by our nearest and dearest in a place that’s been a part of me since I was born. You can view exclusive images from my wedding on page 34. After the wedding, we honeymooned in St. Barth, and it was the most magical and relaxing trip ever.
I fell in love with the community, the hotels, the food, the fashion, the weather…literally everything. I don’t think I’ve loved a place that much since the Hamptons. We can’t wait to go back!
We’re also off the heels of our latest issue in Palm Beach, where we celebrated multigenerational families. Now, as we kick off our first issue of the 2024 Hamptons season, we’re diving into why you, the readers—and we—love the Hamptons (see page 30). It couldn’t be more fitting to feature a cover star who has been deep-rooted in the East End community for her whole life: Dylan Lauren. The entrepreneur shares why the Hamptons has been the perfect backdrop for her business, Dylan’s Candy Bar, and her personal life and what she’s learned from her father, legendary fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Read our interview on page 26. By the way, I’m thrilled to announce that Dylan is also the first guest on my new weekly podcast, “All the Buzz,” which is presented by Spotlight magazine. Big-name celebs and entrepreneurs that we know and love will be featured on upcoming episodes, so it’s definitely a must-listen for Hamptonites. Check it out wherever you listen to podcasts!
owner Joey Wölffer, who will be sharing her “Wölffer Ways” all season long; and Sarah Wetenhall, owner and CEO of The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, who is the epitome of chic and entrepreneurship. We also have some fun new pages for you, like our Old vs. New Hamptons game (a nostalgia moment for those of you who have been summering out here for years), “Map It,” a visual guide to our towns, and more!
We’re so appreciative of all our brand partners who make Spotlight possible, and are incredibly excited for the summer ahead. We can’t wait to be your official kick-off to the season.
Enjoy this issue of Spotlight and make sure to tag us on Instagram with a pic of you and our Dylan cover!

FIND YOUR HAMPTONS DREAM HOME WITH VINCE HORCASITAS
Associate Real Estate Broker at Saunders & Associates Vince, tell us about the gorgeous new property at 33 Jobs Lane in Bridgehampton! It’s truly a gem. This stunning property boasts a blend of modern luxury and classic Hamptons charm. It was built by Konner Development, which is a highly respected builder in the Hamptons, so every facet of the house is perfect, but the location is in its own league as well. You’re south of the highway in Bridgehampton, the beach is right there, and you’re adjacent to beautiful farmland and a working Hamptons farm. Why is this a great home for a family?
There’s tons of space and plenty of room for the kids to run around in the backyard and swim in the pool during the summertime. The way the house is set up, there are a lot of glass sliding doors and windows that look out toward the pool, so you can keep an eye on everything. Bridgehampton is also an ideal town for kids. The Children’s Museum is fantastic, as well as the library.
We’re excited to be hosting a party there with you this weekend! What features of
the home make it great for entertaining?
For entertaining, this home has it all. The spacious layout, gourmet kitchen with top-ofthe-line appliances, an outdoor patio with a built-in grill are perfect for hosting gatherings with friends and family. Additionally, the pool area and landscaped gardens provide a picturesque backdrop for any type of event, big or small. What’s the buyer’s market like Out East right now?
It’s quite active. Demand remains high while inventory remains low. Properties come on every week but many of them get sold, so we have been pretty even in terms of what is available week to week. Buyers are seeking homes that offer both luxury amenities and a relaxed lifestyle, which is basically the definition of the Hamptons, so it’s an opportune time if you’re a seller, and if you’re a buyer and working with a good agent, great deals are out there.
And rentals?
It always happens this time of year; the rental market seems slow, winter seems long, and then bam, everything gets rented when the energy of the Hamptons shifts into summer gear. The market is robust for rentals, but you have to be smart and careful as a renter. There are a lot of scams out there on the Internet making a knowledgeable professional more valuable than ever. At the end of the day, everyone wants a wonderful summer getaway and the Hamptons is the answer. What’s your No. 1 tip for finding your dream home?
Work with a knowledgeable real estate agent who understands your needs and preferences. With the market moving quickly, having a professional by your side can help you navigate the process smoothly and find the perfect property and prevent you from overpaying or being duped into a bad situation.

FOR YOUR NIGHTSTAND: BOOKS SET AROUND THE HAMPTONS
The best part of the season is being able to escape to fabulous locations, both in our minds with fantastic books and summer splurges to hot spots. And what better way to deepen that vibe than to read books that take place in our own towns! BY
ZIBBY OWENSAMAGANSETT
TRACK 61: A NOVEL
BY EVE KARLINIn June 1942, a German U-boat arrives in Amagansett, close to author Eve Karlin’s family’s home. (Karlin is the new manager of BookHampton, where this powerful book must remain prominently displayed.) One passenger, Peter Burger, had spent 17 months in a Gestapo prison followed by 17 days on the boat before landing with six boxes of explosives. At a New York parade, he meets German-Jewish refugee Grete Baum and bonds with her until she discovers his secret mission, 10 floors below Grand Central Terminal.
EAST
HAMPTON ELIZABETH OF EAST HAMPTON: A NOVEL BY AUDREY BELLEZZA AND EMILY HARDING
I feel like this book was named for me. My real name is Elizabeth, and I grew up going to East Hampton. Okay, fine, it wasn’t; it’s named after Elizabeth Bennet in a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice. In fact, local Hamptonite Lizzy Bennet is less than thrilled with all the city folk descending upon her hometown. You just might recognize Will Darcy and Charlie Pierce from their original roles. Just wait and see who’s interested in who…and why.
SAG HARBOR SUMMER ON SAG HARBOR: A NOVEL BY
SUNNY HOSTINThis instant New York Times bestseller and second in a series by co-host of The View Sunny Hostin follows successful finance guru Olivia Jones, who is contending with hidden grief and decides to spend the summer in Sag Harbor among the Black elite. When real estate developers move in on her neighborhood, she has to join residents to fight back in this story of friendship, love, and faith. (Listen to my interview with Hostin on my “Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books” podcast wherever you find your favorite shows.)
MONTAUK
MONTAUK: A NOVEL BY NICOLA HARRISON
In 1938, Beatrice Bordeaux spends the summer with society wives at the Montauk Manor while her husband goes back and forth to work in the city. A fish out of water among the highsociety set, Bea doesn’t have children after five years of marriage and doesn’t feel content to merely indulge in leisure activities and charity work. She strikes up a relationship with the laundress at the manor who she relates to, and then wanders to the lighthouse where an interesting man—not her husband—is hiding.
SOUTHAMPTON ON GIN LANE: A NOVEL BY BROOKE LEA FOSTER
Set in June 1957, On Gin Lane follows an engaged couple, Everleigh “Lee” Farrows and her fiancé Roland, who surprises her with a hotel on Gin Lane. But Lee grew up in the Plaza with her mentally ill mother, so this gift isn’t exactly her love language. When tragedy strikes, Lee finds out who she really is. T

HOW TO LIVE THE SUITE LIFE AT HOME
Ever
wonder how The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach creates a world of luxury and comfort? Find out from its owner, who offers eight tips for making your own Hamptons home just as relaxing and welcoming! BY
SARAH WETENHALLIlove hotels. I always have.
Growing up in the Midwest, my family moved around a lot and thus, spent a lot of time traveling. This was the impetus for my ability to find “home” in the most peculiar places, and fueled my passion and curiosity for travel as an adult. Now, my travels have not only formed my passion for design, but also my appreciation for quality service, comfort, and hospitality.
Although I never dreamed of owning a hotel, I’d imagine what I would do if I lived in one—spend my days by the pool, read a book in the bustling lobby, and order whatever I wanted from the comfort of my bed. While hotel ownership and management are much less serene, this dream, in many ways, has come true.
When my husband, Andrew, and I purchased The Colony Hotel in 2016, one of our first priorities was to reimagine the lobby. Now, as we undergo another renovation—this time to our home in Sag Harbor— the basic concept of “gathering” continues to be our focus.
As in Palm Beach, entertaining people in your home is a tradition that is core to the heart of the Hamptons. As I renovate with summertime gatherings in mind, I’ll take with me some of my favorite aspects of hotel life:
1. Live in your home. I have three kids, so between them, their friends, and our friends, we tend to have an open-door policy in the summer, with people coming and going all the time. In thinking about how we
wanted to redesign the public spaces of our home, similar to a hotel lobby, we tried to create a way for everyone to be together while still being able to sneak away into separate nooks and sitting areas for quieter moments with their friends.
2. Livable luxury. Your home is where you and your family live, so make it chic but also comfortable and authentic to you and your personal style.
3. Create a soundtrack for your home. Why do we only play music during cocktail or dinner parties? Take a page from your favorite hotel and curate a soundtrack to play in the background day to night, creating a special vibe for your home. And if playing DJ isn’t your thing, you can probably find your favorite hotel’s playlist online and use that!
4. Ignite all the senses. To further cultivate the personality of your home, pick a subtle scent that is reflective of its design, architecture, and environment, and stick with it. The Colony’s signature scent, Pink Paradise No. 155, is my go-to in Palm Beach, but in the Hamptons, I opt for something more floral with a woody musk, reminiscent of the ocean breeze and breathtaking sunsets.
5. Comfort first. Create a luxurious hotel experience for your guests by using only the finest linens, towels, and bath and beauty products. I’ve been a fan of Matouk linens for years now. A high-quality robe and slippers are also a nice touch.
6. Surprise and delight. Create a beautiful tablescape, similar to a hotel’s honor bar, on a center table or countertop that features yummy food, snacks, and local flowers for guests and family to enjoy throughout the day.
7. Sit, sip, repeat. Speaking of cocktails, every home should have a well-stocked accessible bar, making it easy for guests to pour a glass of wine or make a cocktail at any time throughout the day. It’s summer in the Hamptons, after all!
8. Brand your home. While naming your home is tradition in some quaint oceanside towns like Nantucket and Cape Cod, the idea of branding one’s home has become much more extravagant and larger in scale. Give your home a name, yes, but create an entire identity around it that will carry through your tableware, linens, towels, bath products, stationery, and more. It’s a true luxury that will take you one step closer to the hotel life. When in doubt, think back to the brand! T
SUMMER OF STYLE
Our new “Spotter” reflects on why the Hamptons is a land for discovery when it comes to fashion, food, and so much more. Plus, all the fun things happening at her eponymous store in Sag Harbor all
season long. BY JOEY WÖLFFER
The Hamptons is a one-ofa-kind place consisting of many villages and hamlets that each have their own picturesque landscape, unique charm, and buzzy social scene. It’s a popular destination for both relaxation and entertainment, especially during the busy summer months when many people from NYC come to visit or stay in their summer homes. Of course, many brands also come out to the Hamptons to host special events and unique activations, making it a fashionable scene and a place to be seen! Hamptons style exemplifies a chic and sophisticated yet relaxed look, perfect for seaside living and social gatherings. And trust me, there’s always a reason to get together here! We have some of the best restaurants, museums, shopping, beaches, wineries, and hotels. Whether you choose to spend your Thursday night at Duryea’s for dinner overlooking the water, Friday evenings at Wölffer Estate’s Wine Stand for our Sunset Music Series, or Saturday afternoon at Parrish Art Museum to view its collection of more than 3,000 works, this is what I love most about living in the Hamptons. There’s something for everyone, no matter your interest. It’s the perfect balance of traditional and modern, classic and cool, high and low, new and old!
In the Hamptons, you can go to dinner in a sarong and heels while looking polished and still feeling comfortable. That sarong, or one of my Reworked dresses, is probably the same piece I’ll pull out of my closet to wear over my swimsuit for a day at the beach, run errands in, or wear out to lunch with some girlfriends in a wedge heel.
Here, you need pieces that are not only comfortable but versatile. And because of our rich cultural scene, I’m constantly influenced by the creative spirit of the Hamptons and all the artists and creatives that we’re surrounded by. Most people know me as the chief brand officer and co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard, which is my family business, but I’ve always had
an affinity for fashion. When I opened my eponymous boutique in Sag Harbor back in 2015, I wanted it to be a onestop shop for women where they could find everything from limited luxe jewelry to clothing and accessories. The concept of it was—and is still to this day—a carefully curated treasure trove of extraordinary pieces by hard-tofind designers mixed with worldly vintage gems. This goes back to my philosophy of being authentic and the reason why we don’t buy deeply into collections. We want our customers to feel special in the pieces that they find. In fact, many of the designer labels in our store are unique, and even the more wellknown, sought-after designers are not highly distributed. There’s nothing more gratifying than having a customer leave feeling good about herself and having discovered something unique and special!
In addition, I started my own label, Reworked by Joey Wölffer, which is a collection of one-ofa-kind reimagined womenswear pieces. They are made from 100 percent deadstock cotton, and the line marries my unique artistic style with the environmentally conscious practice of upcycling. I source all the vintage textiles myself, and each piece is proudly made in NYC. You can find them both in-store or on my shop’s website, joeywolffer.com. T

ICE CREAM SOCIAL SEASON IS HERE!
We’ve got the scoop on exactly how to stay cool this summer—plan your very own ice cream party! Our resident entertaining expert shares her tips for making your gatherings simply sweet. BY
STEPHANIE NASSThe start of summer means the beginning of warm weather—and ice cream season. Celebrate with an ice cream social, a gathering where everyone’s favorite frozen dessert takes center stage. Invite your friends to a “sundae bar”—a buffet of different churned flavors, sauces, fruits, and toppings.
DÉCOR
Display pints in Bunny Williams’ silver wire cachepots and allow guests to serve themselves in pretty dessert bowls, or vintage equivalents from Chairish. Opt for cocktail napkins, as their smaller size is easier for guests to manage while mingling. The best ice cream scoops are from Zeroll. Let Sag Harbor Florist put together floral arrangements in a color palette to match.
ICE CREAM
Source your favorite flavors from Sundaes on Main (Bridgehampton), Buddhaberry (Sag Harbor), Sant Ambroeus (Southampton), or order Jeni’s Ice Cream online. You can also make your own, but make sure that you have an ice cream maker, so you don’t end up with a frozen brick.
TOPPINGS
Here’s where you can really mix things up! In addition to commonplace sprinkles, you can source interesting candies from Dylan’s Candy Bar in East Hampton. Sweet Loren’s cookie dough is safe to eat raw
and available at Stop & Shop in the Hamptons. Levain cookies are always a treat; you can use them to sandwich scoops of ice cream or break them up as a topping. My favorite chocolate sauce is from Somebody’s Mother’s. Edible flower petals are a pretty garnish. Maraschino cherries are the cherry on top. Put all the toppings in individual containers with serving spoons.
FASHION
To round out your hosting, wear something festive. It can be a fun apron, graphic T-shirt, or even sundae earrings! T

NAVIGATING SUMMER WEDDINGS AS A SINGLE
’Tis the season, and wedding bells are ringing! Here’s how to make your way through a jam-packed nuptial schedule…solo. BY LINDSEY METSELAAR
And we’re back! It’s been a long winter, and it’s safe to say we’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. Summer is almost here, and that means we get to kick back, relax, and attend a ton of weddings. These events are so special, but if you’re single, they can be intimidating. And asking for a plus-one isn’t always possible. Here are some tips to help you get through wedding season when you’re on your own.
b Identify Your People
Chances are, you know at least one other person there. Identify who that person is, and make sure you feel comfortable enough to have him or her as your home base, or better yet, your wingman. If you don’t know anyone else there, try to identify another guest who is attending alone. I guarantee he is hoping to have a buddy, too.
b Lean Into Your Outgoing Side
Weddings are not the time to be shy! Even if you’re not an outgoing person, it’s crucial to
usually an open bar. This is obviously a perk, but you don’t want to lean on alcohol too hard as a crutch. You never know who
fake it till you make it. Use easy and common icebreakers, like “So how do you know the couple?” Or maybe you can compliment someone in the wedding party on their speech. People are usually in a good mood at weddings and are likely to want to chat.
b Don’t Overdo It at the Open Bar
One of the perks of a wedding is that there’s
you could meet, and being too inebriated could possibly cloud your judgment. Pace yourself!
b Talk to Your Tablemates
Chances are that the couple getting married put a lot of thought into where to seat you. Weddings are not usually casual events, and it’s likely they sat you at a table of people who they thought you would hit it off with. Whether these people are coupled up or not, being in such close proximity is a great way to get to know them and maybe even make some new friends.
b Leave When You Want
In general, we all overthink things. And one of those things is that everyone notices when you leave the party. In reality? No one does. If you’re struggling to socialize, feeling lonely, triggered by thoughts of an ex, or just aren’t having fun, you have every right to leave. Just try to wait as long as you can and get in at least one dance with the couple first.
Whether this is your first wedding post breakup, or you feel like you’re always the single guest, I promise you it’s only temporary. It means so much to the couple that you’re there, regardless whether you’re partnered or not. Attending a wedding solo can be tough, but if you listen to these tips, you’ll be off to a great start.
For more, you can follow @wemetatacme on Instagram or listen to “We Met at Acme” wherever you listen to podcasts. Hope to see all of you around the Hamptons this summer! T

RUSH
While
lots of things
come and go, there’s one constant that remains the same: Dylan Lauren is the definition of a Hamptons—and beyond—
“It Girl.” She’s built a successful business empire—known as Dylan’s Candy Bar—around the country, making life sweet for confection fans, one tempting treat at a time. In an exclusive interview with Spotlight, Lauren tells us how she created the brand—and manages to do it all!BY SYDNEY SADICK PHOTOGRAPHY BY CARLY GABRIEL
Dylan, we had a lot of fun spending the day with you shooting this cover. You give off sweet-as-candy vibes!
I am candy—I live and breathe it, I eat it, and I love looking at it. It’s just so beautiful to me. Why did you decide to get into the candy business and launch Dylan’s Candy Bar?
I had grown up going to East Hampton and loved the local candy store. Whenever I traveled or studied abroad, the first destination was local candy stores to find not just candy I love, but to find uniquely packaged and uniquely shaped chocolate sculptures, or just things that I could collect and put on my wall because I collect candy as if it’s art.
Was art another one of your passions?
I was an art history major, and I love pop art. I started making my own art with candy. I made people picture frames out of Jordan almonds and gave them as gifts. I was also obsessed with Willy Wonka; that was a major inspiration because I saw it when I was 6, and probably a thousand times after, and I still have tear sheets, pictures, and Polaroids of that movie. I thought that one day I want to create something magical like this—a Disneyland-like place that brings people from everywhere at any age. How have you been able to achieve this?
We have a nostalgia section
that’s cool to baby boomers and then we have a millennial section, which features a lot of sour candy that came out during that decade and the packaging is all neon. We love seeing history through candy.
What’s your favorite candy of all time?
It’s tricky. I don’t have just one. Anything red and gummy like Swedish Fish and red licorice, and I love gumballs. I also love Cadbury Creme Eggs at Easter, and Mallow Creams and candy corn at Halloween. I’m obsessed with marshmallow fluff and our Marshmallow Cloud ice cream. Every now and then I’ll try something new, like some type of fudge. I love it all, but I’d say I’m more of a gummy person.
Your father is iconic fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Was there ever a moment when you thought you’d follow in his footsteps?
You know, I loved watching my dad create an empire and always admired his entrepreneurship. I really, really love fashion, but I’m more about the colors in the fabric swatches. I’m not as into actual clothing as I am into the design color. I saw him build a lifestyle brand, but my passion was candy. When I look at candy, I see what he does with fabric. I see color. I wanted to transform candy from something you just eat to making it a lifestyle and lifestyle brand. That’s
why Dylan’s Candy Bar is not just about eating the candy. We have candy clothing, candy jewelry, candy stickers, candy pens, and all different lifestyle products, bags, and flip-flops. We’ve done a lot of collaborations, with major brands too, because candy is a great medium for any design. My father was supportive of me doing what I believe.
You chose to wear your dress backward on our cover. You’re very hands-on with everything you do—even your personal styling! It’s funny—I like a certain cut. And even my dad being the master, I’ll be like, “Well, I think it actually should have been done like this.” And he’ll usually listen to me. Even when I worked with my dad
on my wedding gown, I was very involved because I know what fits me. Everyone who worked on the dress respected what I said. I think it’s just growing up and watching my dad—I kind of took in his eye for detail. And I think that’s what I like to do. I’m involved in every detail of Dylan’s Candy Bar. I feel like that’s the key to being a successful CEO and
” I WANTED TO TRANSFORM CANDY FROM SOMETHING YOU JUST EAT TO MAKING IT A LIFESTYLE AND LIFESTYLE BRAND.
“
entrepreneur—getting your feet wet in everything. What’s the best piece of business advice that your dad ever gave you?
Go with your gut.
Do you wear other brands besides Ralph Lauren? Not really. I like what he makes; he has a lot of different lines, and I like the way of mixing and matching.
We love to follow Dylan’s Candy Bar on Instagram. Why don’t you have your own personal account?
That’s a good question. I think that I feel that it’s so personal; you know, to share one picture that captures the zillions of things you do in a day, I couldn’t pick the picture. And to have to pick a picture or tell a story when thousands of great things happen, and then maybe other things are not so great. I just felt like it’s too much work. And some of it is no one’s business. I also feel strongly about being in the moment.
Speaking of moments, the Hamptons is the backdrop to so many special ones! Why do you love it Out East?
I love the Hamptons because in a short stretch of bike riding, which could be 20 miles, you can go from Montauk Point, which is like a fishing village town that’s cool for nightlife, to Amagansett, which is all gardens and a whole different terrain. Then you go to East Hampton with all the luxury brands, and it’s a little more cosmopolitan. Next is Bridgehampton with its horse country, gardens, and farms. Within this stretch are so many different experiences. What originally sparked your idea to open Dylan’s Candy Bar here?
I grew up spending my weekends and summers with my family there. I knew East
Hampton would be perfect because our target customers from around the world are also drawn to this luxurious resort town. This particular location also has nostalgic significance to me because it was formerly my favorite childhood local candy store, Nuts About Chocolate. When the owner asked if I was interested in taking over the space, I was touched and honored to continue bringing sweetness to the Hamptons, along with having my own store to indulge at.
How often do you pop into the store?
A lot!
What does a typical summer day look like for you out here?
It starts and ends with me, my husband [Paul], and our twins [Kingsley Rainbow and Cooper Blue] prioritizing our rescue dog
Jersey’s happiness by taking her for an hour-long walk on the beach and playing fetch. After the evening walk, we often stay on the beach to enjoy the late sunset with a take-out dinner picnic. Every day, my husband and I make sure to incorporate outdoor athletics, whether it’s riding 30 miles on our tandem bike all over the Hamptons, playing tennis, kayaking, or doing a Minardi Beach Workout. We kick off the activities with our favorite hot cappuccino or Plain-T at Tutto Caffé and refuel later with Dreamy iced coffee at Sylvester & Co. Modern General. We balance our healthy activities with treats from Dylan’s Candy Bar and warm berry muffins from Round Swamp Farm. What’s your secret to work/ life balance?
I have made balancing family,
DYLAN’S FAMILY ALBUM
friends, hobbies, health, and work a key goal as it is key to my happiness! The best way for me to achieve this is by focused multitasking.
Sounds wonderful! What’s next for you?
The next big projects are finding new store locations and ideally our next flagship in New York City. Expanding our party and corporate gifting businesses through creating stylish favors, centerpieces, and gift baskets. And hosting Dylan’s Candy Bar animal adoption events at our stores with incredible organizations such as the Animal Rescue Foundation, NYC Second Chance Rescue, and Wags & Walks to ensure millions of homeless animals find a home sweet home. WHY DO YOU LOVE
Hamptons? the
We’re partial: There’s no place we love more than the East End. And we know our readers feel all the same feels! Here, some of our favorite Hamptons personalities reveal the reasons why it’s their happy place, too.
Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Socialite and fashion designer“I love everything about it— the different charming villages, the beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants and architecture, and, of course, the lobster rolls. I would say that fall is my favorite time of year to be in the Hamptons. It’s quiet and cozy— and no traffic!”
“East Hampton is my happy place. Yes, there’s too much traffic and too many people, but it’s so much more than that. It’s the smell of grass and hydrangeas as you take long walks on its beautiful roads; it’s the majesty of Georgica Pond and the Atlantic Ocean; it’s our wide beaches; and our local farmstands. Simply put, it’s the best!”
Danielle Carolan, Influencer, co-host of “Gals on The Go” podcast, and host of “AM Uncovered”
Kit Keenan, Influencer
“Montauk has changed a lot since my family started visiting in the 1990s, but for me, the magic remains. Whether it’s enjoying a secret hike with my little sister, surfing with friends and family, cooking at home, or hitting the town, you can always meet me in Montauk.”

“Just a train ride from New York City, the Hamptons are a perfect escape, buzzing with excitement as city-goers head east. The shopping is unparalleled, and it’s great for people-watching, too. Each restaurant has its unique vibe. This mix of convenience, vibrant scenes, and great dining makes my love for the Hamptons grow with every visit.”
“I love Bridgehampton because of its proximity to New York City. I never feel too far away, yet I feel very far away.”
Stephanie Gottlieb, Jewelry designer
“I love the Hamptons because it’s a perfect time capsule of so many of my best memories with friends and family over the years.”

“I love the Hamptons because after traveling around the world to some of the most beautiful beaches, I still think few come close to the beauty of Amagansett. Sometimes I wake up early for a walk and I don’t see a single person; to have a stunning beach to yourself only a few hours from NYC is a gift.”
Isaac Boots, Celebrity fitness trainer and creator of Torch’d
“My love for the Hamptons goes back nearly 20 years when I spent my first July 4th Out East. I’ve since cultivated not only a dedicated and generously philanthropic following but also a tight circle of dear friends I call family. Summer in the Hamptons is unquestionably the best, and my husband and I love spending time year-round seeing the seasons change.”
Jared Seligman, Real estate agent
“In the summer, there’s nothing quite like the Hamptons, where you can find old-school farm stands and specialty markets, beautiful beaches, and enjoy art, antiques, fashion, and cultural events. Entertaining at home and making memories with loved ones are always my favorite parts.”
“Every summer, my family and I look forward to spending time in the Hamptons. It’s even more special now because we’re in Dallas for most of the year, so it’s a time where we get to see all our East Coast friends. Any excuse to be near water, hang with friends, and let the kids play on the beach is the reason why we love the Hamptons.”
Charly Sturm, VP Brand Development, Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics
“I love to go for lunch with friends at Sunset Beach Hotel; it has the most amazing seafood. And I always make time for a long walk on the beach, enjoying the fresh sea air, or some shopping for cute homeware pieces at Clic in East Hampton.”
“The Hamptons are the epitome of ‘the scene.’ You’re always running into people you know, and it’s just fun! It’s like New York on the beach.”
“I’ve been visiting the Hamptons since I was a child, drawn to its serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The hydrangeas swaying in the breeze, the invigorating fresh air, and the soothing waves that caress our feet as we walk along the sand, all combine to create its charm. But my favorite part of the Hamptons is the freedom it offers, providing a departure from our daily busy lives in the concrete jungle.”
Dr. Barbara Sturm, Founder of Dr. Barbara Sturm Molecular Cosmetics
“I like to take a boat to go to Duryea’s and have lunch with friends or go wake boarding in Sag Harbor. Or just a long walk on the beach in the morning watching the whales. It’s so special there.”
Margaret Josephs, RHONJ star and entrepreneur
“I’ve had some of my best memories in the Hamptons. From family to close friends, there’s just no place like it in the world. The mix of peaceful countryside next to the ocean, with the chit-chat and fashion of the city, the Hamptons brings me serenity and rejuvenation that so few places do!”
Kelly Bensimon, TV personality, real estate broker, and author“The Hamptons are home to me. It’s where I raised my girls and continue to create unforgettable memories with them. It’s also where I decompress, enjoy quiet dinners with friends, and ride my horse. It centers me and prepares me for my incredibly busy schedule.”
Shapiro and Jill Zarin, Reality stars and founders of Jill & Ally“I love embracing the Hamptons’ essence, where long strolls along the beautiful beaches and fun barbecues with family and friends bring me so much happiness.”
Zach Erdem, Owner, 75 Main
“Inflation doesn’t exist! No matter what’s going on in the world the Hamptons does not get affected.”
“It’s like adult summer camp in a way. I love playing golf. I love going to the gym and having a quick bite with friends. I enjoy Citarella in Bridgehampton. My kids also love it, so that rules everything.”
Storm Ascher, Independent curator, writer, and founder of Superposition Gallery and Hamptons Black Arts Council
“I love the Hamptons because it has given me the space and clarity to re-remember my right to joy, leisure, natural beauty, and legacy. I love the SANS (Sag Harbor Hills, Azurest, and Ninevah Beach subdivisions) community and its history of movers and shakers. I also love hot lobster rolls!”
“The Hamptons has always been our second home. From the restaurants that have been here for decades to the new ones that pop up every summer, to the friends we made in our boating days 30 years ago to the new ones we meet along the way— it’s a mix of nostalgia and fresh adventures. The Hamptons have a way of staying classic while still keeping up with whatever life throws at us.”
Mitchell Sozio, DJ M-Soz
“There’s no place I like DJing more than the Hamptons, especially for Spotlight’s parties!”
Tom Ierna, Talent manager and entrepreneur
“It’s the summer playground for New Yorkers. Fabulous homes, food, fashion, friends, and parties! What more could you ask for? The Hamptons is truly my happy place.”
Inside Sydney and Nick’s Wedding
Spotlight founder Sydney Sadick married Nicholas Adams, cofounder and managing partner of Differential Ventures, in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 16. The couple welcomed 160 of their nearest family and friends for a weekend to remember. Here are some highlights from their special day!
SYDNEY’S 5 TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR WEDDING
1. Pick your venue, wedding dress, and other key players as soon as you can!
The earlier you can book, the less stress you will have about the most important aspects of planning your wedding.
2. Your wedding event designer is the most critical investment you’ll make.
We used Birch Event Design; founder Josh Spiegel is a creative genius and made our wedding dreams come true—white and gold all the way!
3. Don’t feel pressured to follow the “rules.” I didn’t wear white for my rehearsal dinner; we kept our wedding parties to just family; we didn’t have any wedding speeches; and we did a few other things that weren’t typical but were right for us. Do what’s right for you!
4. Enjoy the process!
Once it’s over, it’s over, and honestly I’m happy it is because now we get to embark on the next chapter of our lives as a married couple. But it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience so enjoy all of it, even the annoying and stressful moments!
5. Most importantly, be sure you’re marrying your one true love!
As the child of divorced parents, I know this is true. You want to do this right— the first (and only) time!
The grande finale of the night! The afterparty where my brother, Mitchell, DJed!
We look forward to welcoming you to Palm Beach’s pinkest hotel.

Summer of Wellness
For those looking to refresh and reboot this season, look no further than Dr. Bushra Helmandi’s Beauty and Body NYC to service all your needs. BY EMILY WHITE
You’re the founder of both Active Physical Therapy & Chiropractic Group and Beauty and Body NYC. What inspired you to launch these businesses?
When I launched my initial business, it was musculoskeletalbased. But I didn’t want to ignore the wellness aspect of life. It shouldn’t take pain for people to take care of themselves. I now have physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, and pain management all under one roof. Then, a couple years ago, I launched my medical spa, Beauty and Body NYC, because it was a career of passion. I invested in spa equipment
and it became a full-blown business. I decided I want to combine my two businesses into a one-stop shop wellness space. Where did your interest in beauty and wellness begin?
Like a lot of people, during COVID my diet and lifestyle changed. I noticed the quality of my skin was changing. I looked at my arms and was like, “Is that cellulite?” I went to a cosmetic surgeon and realized it wasn’t cellulite, it was a loss of muscle. She recommended I use sculpting devices for skin tightening. The surgeon gave me a recurring treatment plan. But I ended up buying the devices. I thought, “Well, if I need them, other people probably do, too.”
What has been the most rewarding part about opening your own high-end MedSpa in NYC?
Helping people figure out how to achieve their goals. We give people highly personalized treatment plans. We have so many things to offer under one roof, aside from full-blown going under the knife.
OUR PICKS FOR SUMMER
What challenges have you faced as a female founder?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced is being someone who is new to the MedSpa world. I had to do so much research because I’m not a cosmetic surgeon, dermatologist, or esthetician. However, it’s also been a blessing because I feel so educated now.
What are some of the biggest beauty and aesthetics trends you’re anticipating this season?
The trend I’m seeing people loving is micro-needling with radio frequency. It takes a few months to see results, and they vary from person to person. So many clients have been coming back for that treatment for their face, neck, body, and hands. How do you service your clientele who summer in the Hamptons?
I have a house in East Hampton, and I love it there. I’d like to think by next summer we’ll hopefully have a permanent pop-up location where people can count on us. I’m always thinking about my Hamptons people!
What can we expect from you in the future?
I don’t ever stop! I love jumping into new projects, but I want my businesses to keep evolving. The thing that excites me the most is advancing the concept of creating a one-stop shop for clients to get all their wellness and beauty treatments. T
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF EMILY TISCH SUSSMAN
The Hamptons resident shares how a pivot from politics to creating her award-winning podcast enabled her to spend more time with her family. BY EMILY WHITE
there, but we’re also super intentional to uphold that diversity as we create and book the show. Who’s your dream podcast guest?
I would have to say Serena Williams. She is the GOAT in every sense of the word.
What are your goals for the show?
4:30 p.m. Playdate!
Emily, before starting “She Pivots,” you worked as the VP of Campaigns for the largest Democratic think tank in D.C. How did your background help you start this podcast? When I made my pivot out of politics and into the lifestyle media space, one of my biggest fears was that nothing I had experience in would translate. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that everything builds on itself. Although politics may not have taught me how to edit audio, it did teach me to keep my ear to the ground and align the stories I’m sharing with what’s going on in the world. You’re passionate about female empowerment. Where do you think this comes from?
The goal is always world domination! But first, I’m excited about building out the community around “She Pivots” and myself and creating a bigger and stronger group of women.
What’s the most important part of your day?
I made my pivot so I could show up for my kids in the way I truly wanted, so doing pickup and drop-off and then dinner with the family. I feel lucky to have that time with them.
What are some of your hangouts in the Hamptons?
We’re big Mashashimuet Park playground fans, followed by Buddahberry on a warm day. With the start of summer, we can’t wait for Friday nights at the Wine Stand at Wölffer Estate Vineyard.
What’s your favorite thing to do Out East?
I was raised by strong women; both my mom and my grandmother had a real influence on me. I’ve always had a passion for making sure women get the fair shake they deserve. Then I found politics and I doubled down and realized I could have an impact on the opportunities women go for and are offered. What type of stories do you like to tell on your podcast?
What’s your motto? Everything builds on itself, so don’t be afraid to pivot! T 8 a.m. School drop-off
A morning beach run just starts the day right. You can feel the air, you smell the salt and the sand, you hear the waves. It just sets you up for a good day. Go-to summer outfit?
I knew I wanted to showcase diverse women, in every sense of the word. We’re lucky that there’s no shortage of amazing, inspiring, successful women out
A Gotham FC T-shirt of some kind, jean shorts, and my chunky Prada sandals. Electric merch sweatshirt for when it gets chilly!
What’s a book you’ve read and enjoyed recently?
The Sicilian Inheritance! My genius friend [Jo Piazza] wrote it. It’s the kind of book that will get you out of a reading slump, so it’s perfect for me.
