racious God, we pray to you for the mission and ministry of St. Martin's School. Grant that the members of our community, seeing the image of God in one another, may be guided in the ways of wisdom. May we pursue excellence, unite ourselves in bonds of love and be strengthened in patience, compassion and persistence.

Increase, 0 Lord, our intellectual curiosity and zeal for learning. Give us the will and strength to do our best.

May we never shrink from that which is difficult, and may we never fail to see an aura of wonder in everything on earth.

Most of all, dear Lord, surround us with your presence, so that all in the St. Martin's community will feel loved and secure. Amen.

Mrs. Greer has dedicated the past 27 years of her life and love to St. Martin's Episcopal School. Throughout this time, Mrs. Greer has not only acted as our math teacher, but as the Student Council Advisor she provided the foundation and order upon which our school is built. Every morning announcement, every Homecoming, every special event or average day could not have happened without the time and effort Mrs. Greer continually devoted to her school and students. Never letting a single detail slip, Mrs. Greer guided her students in all their endeavors of Faith, Scholarship and Service. A leader of leaders, Mrs. Greer played an integral role in the lives of every student at St Martins.

Mrs. Greer's service to and love of St. Martin's is unmatched. As one of the most important members of the St. Martin's family, we cannot imagine having to say "goodbye." The class of 2007 dedicates The Shield to Mrs. Greer to express our love and gratitude. Mrs. Greer's contribution to St. Martins extended past school hours and beyond the St. Martin's building. Undoubtedly, her dedication and service to students will continue. We thank her for the years she gave to our community.

As an alum, parent, coach and teacher at St. Martin's, Mr. Farber has spent his life giving back to his alma mater. As a member of the graduating class of 1982, Mr. Farber demonstrated true leadership and dedication to St. Martin's through the Student Council and athletics during his time as a student.

As a 5 th grade science teacher, Mr. Farber has continued his leadership and guidance as a mentor and friend to all St. Martin's students. The class of 2007 treasures all our memories with Mr. Farber. From his lectures about entering into adolescence, to his pneumonic devices for remembering "Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species," Mr. Farber always finds a creative way to make sure every student benefits from his or her classroom experience.

Mr. Farber's commitment to St. Martin's extends beyond the classroom with his role as head coach of the St. Martin's football team. Even students who did not have Mr. Farber as a Lower School teacher share a bond with the educator and coach who has prepared us for the big science test, the big game, and the big world.

Service has always played a pivotal role in life at St. Martin's. Along with faith and scholarship, service is one of the school's core values, and STM students have always lent hands and hearts to their community. But when Hurricane Katrina crashed into our city, our lives were marked forever by the devastation. Since then, with houses destroyed and

families torn apart, service has taken on a whole new meaning for our students. Most of us at St. Martin's were fortunate enough to have the financial and emotional means to rebuild; many were not so lucky. Now, more than ever before, we must contribute our time and talents to help our neighbors. For the past year, members of YRNO

have spent Saturdays gutting houses and cleaning up yards.Other STM students will continue to contribute in their own various ways . They will volunteer at nursing homes, work on Habitat for Humanity projects, hold food drives for Second Harvesters, and tutor children. There are countless ways that our students continue to help

others, and at St. Martin's we do it because, in these times, we know it is our absolute obligation. We have learned that, by giving selflessly to others, we recieve a lot more in return.

"The Sophomore Experience was a series of ecuational, heartwarming field trips designed to give the sophomore class a unique and eventfull week, strengthining the bond between the students of the tenth grade. These trips ranged from visiting the inspiring reporters of theTimes Picayune to the challenging swamp lands of LUMCON to the noble, gritty City Park clean-up. "I thought it was interesting how we got to see the different deparments of the newspaper and interview them about their work," said Makenzie Kozojet.. Overall, the sophomore experience had excellent positive feedback. In the words of Marianna Knister, "Oh my gosh, I LOVED THE SOPHOMORE UNIQUE WEEK!!"

National Honor Student, Varsity Soccer, Varsity Softball, Varsity Volleyball, 2007 Javelin State Champion, 1st Place in State in Latin in 2005, Great Sister, Wonderful Daughter, Independent, Intelligent, and Dignified Woman. Who could ask for more?

With enormous pride , love, and wonder we watched as you entered St. Martin's as a beautiful but dependent member of the pre-kindergarten class in 1992 and now as you prepare to leave St. Martin's as a beautiful , independent, intelligent, and dignified young woman and member of the graduating class of 2007. You worked hard and played hard, and learned enduring lessons on the track, field, and in the classroom. In the fourteen years at St. Martin ' s you have emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually developed in many ways. Each bit of wisdom and experience has added another bright facet to your bright and wonderful life.

My favorite "GiGi" story tells a lot about my girl. GiGi's ten year old softball team was [ competing in the fast pitch World Series in Charlotte , NC. Our team was preparing to play an elimination game with a strong team from Texas. On the way to the stadium GiGi told me , "We're going to win; I didn ' t travel this far to leave the world series early." I thought that was a quite remarkable statement from a ten year old girl, but soon realized it wasn't just idle chit-chat when GiGi hit a triple with the bases loaded to win the game.

You are an outstanding student, athlete, and a well-rounded young lady with a very bright future. You earned a spot on the honor roll all four high school years, and were elected to t he National Honor Society in your junior year. In your freshman year you finished second in the district and second in the state in Latin. You returned the following year to take first place in both the district and state in Latin and earned St. Martin ' s Latin award

You were a member of St. Martin's softball team since the 7th grade, elected most valuable player in the 9th grade , and team captain in your sophomore year. You were in the starting lineup on the St. Martin ' s varsity soccer team since the 8th grade , elected team captain, and earned five letters in soccer. You started on the volleyball team since the 9th grade and earned four letters. You were a member of several St. Martin's soccer and volleyball district championship and state runner-up teams. You received the coaches ' award for both volleyball and soccer, and numerous all district and state awards in soccer. You were nominated by St. Martin ' s for the Wendy's Heisman Trophy Award.

Your jun ior year , St. Martin's could not field a softball team due to the number of students displaced by Katrina. Coach McGeehan asked you to throw the javelin because the track team was also short of participants. At the time yo u had never even thought about throwing the javelin, but you took on the challenge in typical "GiGi" style. Yo u worked very hard to perfect the techniques and skills necessary to throw a javelin, and your work ethic and attitude resulted in success. You competed in every track meet, and at the end of the season placed first in the district, first in the region , and second in the State of Louisiana. In your junior year , you were named to the All East Jefferson Track and Field team, the All Metro Track team , and then named Track and Field East Jefferson Female Athlete of the Year for 2006.

As a senior, you again represented St. Martin's in the javelin throw. On May 4, 2007 , I have to admit I had a tear or two in my eye w h en your javelin sailed through the sky at LSU's Bernie Moore Stadium resulting in the 2007 State High School Javelin Championship for St. Mart in's Episcopa l School and for GiGi Gibbs. Whi le I am very happy about your State Championship award , I am even more proud of the courage , self-confidence, and consistent efforts to be the best GiGi Gibbs that you can be Your positive attitude , detennination, and work ethic will propel you to a life of productivity, achievement, and peace Your resiliency and determination to make the best out of every situation will be a gift to your future family and an example for yo ur children to emulate, and that will be the most end u ring honor you w i ll ever receive.

Before you depa1i for SMU, let me offer some last minute advice First of all , stu dy and work hard to be the best that you can be There is no more worthy goal. Secondly, choose a boyfriend, and most importantly a husband, that is as maintenance free , stable, and dignified as you (that will not be easy to find). A handsome face and six -pack will surely diminish with time, b ut the be n efits and beauty of a stable phi losophy and internal strength will increase with time. You will undoubtedly be a considerable asset to your future fami ly and you will bring joy, serenity, and stabi lity to your home and to your children. Teach your future children the value of dignity and clear thinking; and always be true to yourself. Go Mustangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
