Mrs. Lee Klebba

As a recipient of the 2009 Yale University Educator Award, Mrs. Lee Klebba's academic prowess and teaching ability are beyond question. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Simmons College and a Master's from the University of New Orleans. She taught at the former Mercy Academy, the University of New Orleans, and has been a member of the St. Martin's faculty since 1991. Mrs. Klebba currently teaches standard and AP level English 111 classes. Her academic rapport, however, was only a portion of the reason Mrs. Klebba was selected by the Senior Class as one of the 2010 yearbook dedication recipients. Mrs. Klebba inspires her students to develop a love and appreciation for literature; but her dedication and passion are not solely limited to the subject she teaches. Her immense affection for her students can be witnessed in her heartfelt lectures and pieces of advice, or her tireless efforts in writing college recommendations. While in Mrs. Klebba's class, students frequently leave her classroom feeling both honored and touched to have had her as a teacher. The Senior Class is truly thankful and wishes to recognize Mrs. Klebba for her extensive contributions to the St. Martin's community.

Mrs. Christine Sauer

The second yearbook dedication is merited by a member of the faculty who shows a passion for art, as well as her caring nature for others around her. Mrs. Christine Sauer received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of New Orleans and later began teaching Middle School Art at St. Martin's in 1996. Since then, she has created the AP Studio Art Program and has been the Visual Arts Department Chair for many years. She currently teaches Art I, Middle School Art classes, and, in recent years, she created the Painting and Fibers class. Outside of the classroom, she is known for her kind nature and her love of cats. She has 8, possibly more. She even named one of them Olivia. As her 14th and final year at St. Martin's concludes, members of the Senior Class say "it's as though she is graduating with us, having been at St. Martin's for 14 years". In addition, a fellow faculty member says, "she really is an amazing colleague and it is an honor to work with her". The Senior Class is privileged to award this honor to Mrs. Sauer for her dedication to art & her students and also her longtime commitment to the school. While we seniors enter a new chapter in our lives, she is also and we only wish her the best in years to come.

Saints in

Service

The St. Martin's community is always looking for ways to give back. Students volunteered at Second Harvesters, walked for those affected by down syndrome, AIDS and cancer. They helped out at The Good Shepherd School, the New Orleans Botanical Garden, Big Branch Preserve and planted trees in the Louisiana marshes.

In response to the earthquake in Haiti, faculty, staff, and students came together in an effort to collect items including clothes and other vital necessities. Volunteers filled over 380 boxes of donations.
