Stephen Skeete, the entrepreneur, father and fashion designer
Launching a business can be stressful. For Stephen Skeete, the pressure was doubled. The day after Stephen launched Tress Clothing, his first child was born. He’s had to juggle being a father to a newborn daughter with being the father of a newly-founded business. “Being an entrepreneur is brutal,” says Stephen. “I’d be lying if I said I was able to emotionally shut myself off, and then come home and be the most cheerful and jumpy partner and dad. I’d be lying, because that’s how much the brand means to me.” But in his view, fatherhood only makes him more determined to make Tress a success. “I want do it for her, and the people around me. I need to show her that we all need to follow our dreams.” ISSUE NO. 9
It’s early days, but it looks like his passion is paying off. Tress is a year old, and Stephen has launched his first collection – a premium range of ready-to-wear cashmere and cotton menswear, that straddles smart office-wear and casual. The style is sleek and under-stated. No big logos. Classic cuts and dark colours only. “It’s a ten-piece collection, with no more than 40 of each piece. No sales, no restocks. So when people see it, they go and get it, otherwise it’s gone.”
I know exactly which mill every material is made in. I know exactly what blend of colours is used.

all the hard work for you. I’m trying to be more strategic.”
“I know exactly which mill every material is made in. I know exactly what blend of colours is used – and none of them are standard.”
His methods are resonating. Stephen recently got an exhibition at the well-connec ted YKK showroom in Shoreditch, and he’s collaborating with a Soho brand that shares his ethos. “I stepped in to their store and it was like an emotion. I wanted my stuff in there. I contacted the brand and we’ve had a chat back and forth about working together in the future.”

The ethical side – so important to fashion buyers – is also a huge priority. Stephen has researched suppliers to ensure all workers, down to the machinists, are paid fairly for their work. And Stephen is now fine-tuning the marketing: “Product placement is the future of the fashion industry. If you give your clothes away, and flood social media, people are less trusting of the brand. But get the right person, and the right placement, and it does
He’s got goals galore. The next steps are to open a boutique and expand the collection into womenswear and accessories. Fashion can be volatile. When a brand is hot, it can go stratospheric in an instant. Can Stephen handle success, if it comes fast? He’s got the
experience. Tress Clothing is his second venture, after a financial services start-up. He chooses Tide for his business banking, so he has an account that’s tailor-made for rapidly evolving companies.
For me, it’s always been about that entrepreneurial side. Above all, this fashion brand is a chance to show his family – and himself – what he’s capable of. “For me, it’s always been about that entrepreneurial side. Always wanting more, and the hunger to do whatever it takes to hit the goal that you can’t stop thinking about it.” He reflects for a moment on this most extraordinary year of his life so far. “It’s just been a whirlwind.”

Eman Alabdulghani Founder of StartUps join a global initiative to empower women around the world

Eman AlAbdulghani
Why I choose to be Member & Global Mentor at Global Thinkers forum? Global Thinkers Forum (GTF) is a global platform bringing together a diverse network of thought leaders and creating meaningful networking and conversations around global challenges and trends. GTF’s mission focuses on three areas: fostering accountability in leadership, promoting women’s empowerment and creating opportunities for young people to develop. GTF is also a bridge-builder, and an organization that promotes public-private sector partnerships and opens conduits for collaboration and stakeholder engagement. The Forum is London-based and was incubated at Oxford University’s Said Business School in 2011. It has been created with the vision to help our societies and leaders navigate a very complex world. It was my pleasure to join a dynamic creative initiative to support women from all-around the world” I felt that this project is part of me, it reflects my vision, purpose & meaningful purposes in my life”. My experience in entrepreneurship and starting business was derived by my faith in Women abilities, they have big potential to lead and force change in their societies specially in the middle east where women are tied to many cultural and religious norms. My research looks into the interaction between ISSUE NO. 9
cultural influence, digital transformation and the impact on gender equality in the middle east. I decided to become a part of global thinkers mentors , part of my experience in motivating youth and transform their life to help them reach their maximum potential, I have been mentoring Nourhene Jaouadi, she is an articulate, innovative and reliable person who can add a special spirit to everything she puts her hand in, all with ensuring a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm. Nourhene is an industrial engineering student at the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of Sousse, Tunisia. She has two years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Started working as a chief editor and translator for the website mina7.net in June of 2017. Moreover, she was the country ambassador for Youth Opportunities for 2018/2019 with the main responsibility of providing youth with access to opportunities. she joined the Global Thinkers network with the ambition of launching her own startup and delivering her ideas to the world. We have been working together to help Nourhene understand her values and passion, developing her skills to

overcome the challenges in her life. I had the pleasure to support her in the Aramex Fellowship Scheme Challenge by the Arab Innovation Network and represent Tunisia among a selection of highly achieving youth from different Arab countries.
I am very excited that I have been able to deliver my knowledge and experiences to help create new generation of female leadership.

Compassion plays a big part of my being
1. Introduce yourself to our readers! A citizen of the world, born to my parents, sister to my brothers a mother to my children loyal friend to All, close to few, social with who dares and loved by few admired by all. Misunderstood for being real & raw, attacked for being true but happily authentic & Original in a fake world. My vulnerability is portrayed as weakness, but the truth of the matter it’s my strength that helps me shine. 2. What is your background? Beside my bachelor in Advertising & Fine Arts, I am Certified Fashion designer, jewelry designer, Artist, Zumba instructor, Certified professional co-active coach. compassion plays a big part of my being. As a human, I only know how to work from my heart, feelings & beliefs are the biggest two factor that drive me.
ISSUE NO. 9
3. How does your personality affect your life? Unfortunately, with those two beautiful, honest qualities, I’m portrayed as menace to society which is a fact that I’m aware of. It doesn’t make me sad but it certainly disturbs the peace from most of the people around me, only because I chose to be true by honoring my authentic self and from my own personal perspective, this is what the world is lacking. Less fake & more original. 4. How did You start your journey in both coaching and art? Art is just an automatic thing for me that was switched on from birth. It’s simply my blue print! it’s how I live & what I breathe. It’s what makes me smile, curious, Think differently. Above all Art is a life style. creativity above all & as A mother it’s very

important for me to keep challenging my boys to think out of the box & never go with the flow. I believe Creativity is a tool, when mastered you’ll never be stuck in life’s setbacks! But instead enjoy working it out. My couching journey on the other hand which is a different form of art, to me it gave me a chance of new beginning in different perspective of life.
4. How did that shape your character? Coaching gave me the opportunity to live life fully equipped. It made me the best version of myself by honoring my values & focus towards living my life purpose on a daily basis. it’s always about the journey that I’m taking to influence other women to reach their ultimate potential. Who Is the Target Audience of Your Content ? be to try and find out favorite brands or preferences of your potential target audience. Do they prefer to read tabloids or do they get their new from more reputable sources?
By Dennis Looijenga Product Marketer
Your target audience It is essential that you know who your target audience is and what they require. What type of content would they like to receive? What media sources are they using in their search? What channels do they actively use? How do you ensure that your target audience receives your content and reads it, and that your goals are achieved? Take these three steps to ensure a razor-sharp content strategy:
Step 1. Use personas to get a clear idea of your target audience
Creating personas can help you get to know your target audience. A persona is a fictitious representative of your target audience. Even though you probably know your target audience quite well already, personas can help you gain new insights.
Practice shows that these personas are based for 40 percent on data and for 60 percent on gut instinct. Good research is therefore an absolute necessity! Research can be done in a multitude of different ways. A simple method would be to let staff members who communicate with your target audience on a daily basis help brainstorm about personas or to let them create personas (by using their gut feeling). A survey can then be done to enhance the profile of the personas (gather data)! Interviews with existing customers or account managers can also provide valuable insights. You create one persona per target group.
The personas Give these personas a name, face, personal characteristics, goals and tasks. This makes it easier to put yourself in your persona’s shoes and to view things from his or her perspec tive. You have to become accustomed to seeing things from your (potential) customer’s point of view. This allows you to determine what content, campaigns and social posts will appeal to your target audience and what will not.
Research Decide who the most important target groups are for your content. Ideally, you should have two to four groups. Compile information on these target groups and try to identify a number of specific characteristics of these groups. Are they mainly middle-aged people? A good exercise would ISSUE NO. 9

Obstacles
Several phases
Try to imagine what obstacles your personas might face. What problems do they have? What is bothering them? Also look at your own organization to discover how you can resolve their issues. These issues can be used as topics in blogs.
The customer journey consists of several phases:
Mailchimp researched their users and then used the results to create a number of personas. They visualized their personas and assigned them various characteristics.
Step 2. Visualize a customer journey Have you envisioned your target audience? Find out where they are and how you can reach them. You can map this by drawing a customer journey for each persona. This is a method to envision a purchasing process from the persona’s perspective. It describes a persona’s experiences during their customer journey: from orientation, to purchasing a product or service and then to using it. At all touch points and through all channels. It is a clear overview of the customer journey: from first contact to purchase, including all the relevant channels and touch points.
Touch points Check the different touch points each persona had with your organization. Where and when did they come into contact with your product/service? A potential customer always has multiple touch points: he or she hears about your organization through the grapevine, checks out your website and then may proceed to do nothing at all. At some later stage he or she spots you on social media, starts following you, then maybe ends up on your website again via Facebook, signs up for the newsletter and maybe then they’ll become a new customer.
• Awareness: how can I solve my problem and which solutions are there for my problem? • Consideration: which solution is the best for me? • Decision: which company could help me solve my problem? Each of your personas will have different needs and interests in each phase and will also be active on other channels. There are different types of content, one of which will be better suited to the awareness phase, and the other one will be a better fit for the consideration phase: It is important to determine for yourself to whom you will be delivering which content and at what point during the customer journey.
Step 3. Content mapping By identifying which personas your organization has, what their customer journey looks like and what their needs are for this journey, you can easily determine what type of content will be most effective. You can then clearly map out your content using content mapping. This is a method that helps you get a clear overview of your content strategy. It is important to be aware of your personas’ needs and interests and to find out which channels they actively use. This way you can offer them the right content, in the right place, at the right time: something every organization should strive for.
The journey is different for every persona, which only goes to show how many different channels you can and must employ to reach your target audience and to trigger them to take action.

Innovation Books
Zero to One Author: Peter Thiel with Blake Masters Category: Innovation Peter Thiel takes an unconventional approach to building startups. The common approach is to iterate the same idea and launch it to a different market segment. The usual ideas tend to be about the next WhatsApp, Facebook, or a “new and better” Microsoft. In his book Zero to One, Peter says these clones already exist in the market and making a new clone won’t take you further up the innovation ladder. When people repeat the ideas, they take the innovation level from one to ‘N’. But doing something that isn’t done before takes the world from zero to one.
