Three things I like about myself and why: I like that I am fit. I believe it is the best thing you can do for yourself for now and the future. I like to help people and lend a helping hand. I am an adventurous kind of guy and I like to have fun, meet new people and enjoy life.

OMG Moment:

The first day I started riding the rickshaw cycle on the Avenue, I saw this girl for the first time and picked her up and, well, let’s say we became close friends that same night. That was like OMG!

Stop an argument s d n o c e s 0 3 n i

If you just don’t want to get into it right now, the best course of action is to make peace or move out of the way.

Step 1- Change the subject

Change the subject before things go too far, and express your desire to drop it.

Step 2 - Maintain silence

If the other person continues to argue, maintain silence, listening but not engaging, so the argument is over before it starts. Don’t add fuel to the fire.

Tip – When you argue, recognise that even if you’re right, there is a gap between reality and your perception. Step 3 - Keep it private

Keep things private. Don’t bring in allies who support your viewpoint.

Step 4 - Take a time-out

Agree to resume the conversation when cooler heads can prevail. Promise the other person you will take their point of view into account when you return to the discussion.

Step 5 - Leave the room

Remove yourself. Find a neutral corner and take the time to collect your thoughts.

Step 6 - Show humility

If you really want to end the argument before it starts, say you’re sorry, whether you think you’re right or not, and promise to be aware of the other person’s feelings. Defuse the argument and get on with your life.

Express your feelings Lots of people suffer from an inability to express their true feelings, which can affect relationships and self-confidence. Here are simple ways to overcome this problem.

Step 1 - Organise your thoughts

Take time to organise your thoughts before telling them to someone else. You need to understand what you’re feeling before you express it.

Tip – Write down your thoughts in a notebook; it will help you sort out what is important. Step 2 - Don’t wait until you’re fed up

Talk out your feelings before you become too fed up with the issue. Excess anger will make it difficult to explain yourself.

Step 3 - Be specific

Be specific. Refer to specific issues or events that have bothered you, and when and where they took place. A general statement won’t be productive.

Step 4 - Describe the feeling

Describe what you felt when the event occurred.

Tip – Don’t simply say that you’re “angry” or “upset,” but use as much detail as you can. This will help the other person better understand the issue. Step 5 - Avoid blaming the other person

Avoid blaming the other person. You don’t want them to become defensive. Talk about your reaction rather than about their mistake.

Raised on a lie I just found out I was conceived as the result of a fling my parents had while my dad was engaged to someone else. Even more shocking, I also found out my mom’s first choice was to have an abortion. She decided not to, didn’t show up for the appointment (obviously) and ended up eloping with my dad

after he called off his wedding and engagement to his fiancee. They’ve been divorced for almost 15 years now and I found out while talking to my dad recently. I can’t believe she had the nerve to hide that from me, and it hurts.

Hidden agenda The best part of today was when you left, because I finally had an excuse to hug you. The worst part is it probably didn’t mean nearly as much to you as it did to me.

Big snorer I snore really loudly. It’s embarrassing. I don’t even go to sleepovers anymore. I’m so depressed over it, because I know that no guy would love a girl who snores really loud. Everyone hates a snorer.

Liquid

escape route I’ve started using alcohol as a way of escaping my heartache. I’m drinking every day until I get completely stoned and I don’t want to change. I feel like I need to drink all the time.

lot You Mean A

I miss you... My life has been better since you left but I still miss you. You treated me like crap during my pregnancy with our second baby but I still miss you. I know deep down that I probably am just romanticising our relationship and probably just missing the way things were but there are times when it hurts sooo bad. I know things will never be the same again. I want to get over you so bad. But I don’t know how...

He thinks

it’s a joke

I really like this guy. He’s so nice, and we get along so well. I’ve met him at business classes, and he’s so funny and amazing, and great to be around. We were talking on Facebook and I pretended to be drunk to tell him what I think about him. He thinks it’s a joke but I wish he knew it wasn’t.

I can’t

stand her My co-worker is an arrogant cow who thinks the world revolves around her. She thinks we are friends but I can’t stand her.

Not

too late for me

I finally realise how much I love my parents. I’m glad it’s not too late to show them how much I love them. Never take anyone for granted…

Track 7 is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about and sought-after producers in the newly emerging pop culture scene in Trinidad and Tobago. His latest singles, “Hell of a Night” alongside Terri Lyons, and “Vibrator” alongside Kayode, have begun creating an insane buzz, extending way beyond the shores of T&T. This 25-year-old producer, whose real name is Aaron Peters, is no overnight phenom as some may be tempted to assume. He first laid hands on a piano at the tender age of two, began using the MPC drum machine, Logic Pro and Reason production software at the age of 13 and gained his first official production credit at 16. He attended Rosary Boys RC Primary School where he was a member of the choir and won prizes in their calypso competitions. He recalls spending many afternoons drumming on the desk in school. He then passed his 11-plus exam for his first choice, Queen’s Royal College, where he continued to excel academically while using school as testing ground for his music. “I would do my beats at the studio then bring them to school, so that at lunchtime we could have freestyle battles over the instrumentals,” Track 7 states.

AARON PETERS

Track 7’s hands-on influences run deep. Guided and shown the ropes from a very young age by his uncle, veteran music producer Daryl Braxton, it seems as though his transition into the music business was a relatively seamless one. “Brax (Braxton) never really liked recording and mixing,” states Track 7, “so that almost immediately made me the engineer for basically all of his projects for the last five-six years.” This led to him recording/ mixing tracks with everyone from Bunji Garlin, Benjai and 3Suns to KMC, Beenie Man, Tony Matterhorn and the list goes on and on.

By the age of 21, his production work with hip-hop group Spotrushaz on the track titled “Iron” was selected for use on the NBA videogame “NBA 2K10”, further adding to his achievements as a young producer. Track 7, along with producer London Future, then crafted Nebula868’s “Amped Up” which was considered the best dance/pop track to emerge from T&T at that time. More recently, Track 7 spent time in the US where he worked with various writers known for their work with Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown and others. During his stay there, his services were also used to conduct several recording sessions at both small and large scale recording facilities. As usual, Track 7 was hesitant to reveal what goodies are in store for the near future, but his work has definitely been speaking audibly for itself and he’s surely another testament as to the talent that lies here in Trinidad and Tobago. Here’s one of his most memorable OMG moments. “It occurred a day I was sitting in studio working alone. This kid from Toco.... TOCO! made his way via public transport to St James to find our studio. He just heard it was in St James and was asking around, then finally walked up to the door and knocked. He then explained how tough things were with him and his limited options in terms of finding a way out of the streets. He continued to explain that music would be his only way out and that’s why he came to me. Jaw dropper!!!! That level of determination and drive is what I love. Definitely my OMG moment.

HOW

Give words of encouragement TO’S and affirmation Step 3 - Choose phrases with intent

Give phrases new intent by refusing to use “I can’t” and saying instead, “I will”. Replace the word “mistakes” with the phrase “life lessons” to combat past feelings of guilt and shame.

Step 4 - Use honey, not vinegar

Words are powerful and influence all aspects of our lives. Those specially chosen for encouragement and affirmation can elevate everyone’s spirits, including your own.

Step 1- Affirm the present

Speak encouragements and affirmations in the present tense, rather than the future. Positively hoping for something yet to come denies the good you experience now.

Tip – A Penn State study discovered we have many more negative words in our vocabulary than ones for positively identified emotions. Step 2 - Reconsider problems as opportunities

Redefine problems as “challenges” or “opportunities”. The attitude with which you approach conflict can change outcomes. Learn from mistakes instead of avoiding or regretting them.

Convert criticisms into encouragements. Eliminate absolutes like “always” and “never” from your vocabulary when describing unacceptable behaviour. Recognise that no one is all bad or all good all the time.

Step 5 - Believe and support

Compliment someone to build their self-esteem, or just to show genuine appreciation of them. Believe what you are saying and convey your absolute support for their efforts.

Tip – Be careful: overdone praise, repeated frequently, may lose its value if it is a function of practiced and empty manners rather than a genuine, heartfelt affirmation. Step 6 - Repeat to believe

Express short, specific affirmations, such as “I am a good person” passionately and repeatedly, to imprint them on your subconscious. You must feel with every affirmation that your visualised reality has been willed into existence. You can be a positive person and make the people around you positive, too.

Danielle Boodoo-Fortuné Danielle is not only a talented artist; she is a poet as well. In fact, she has been writing poetry longer than she has been creating her artwork. Her poems have been published in many regional literary journals and her first book of poems will be published soon. After winning many accolades for her poetry, she started painting in 2009. Using watercolours and pens, she created very vibrant semi-illustrated pieces that are very bold and engaging. If you were wondering like us, if all the fine-detailed patterned backgrounds in the drawings were drawn by Danielle, wonder no more – yes, they were.

She only draws female characters and she sees her work, which sometimes incorporates her poetry, as semi-biographical even as it interprets other people’s experiences. Danielle also competed in the Urban Heartbeat Art Project at the Grand Stand of the Queen’s Park Savannah. She is finishing her final year at UWI where she is doing her Masters in Literature and she has moved on to doing hand-made stationary, small greeting cards and bags for sale under the name “Wild Flower Studios”. She has been using Facebook and social media to find her audience and clients. If you want to see more of Danielle’s work you can find her on Facebook. Just click on the link below. Danielle’s OMG moment came while she was teaching English for two years. She came home one day and realised that she had not written or drawn anything for two years. She felt she was stifling her creativity and so, against everyone’s advice that an artist or poet cannot make a living by art or poetry, she gave up her teaching job and took a leap of faith and started writing and drawing again. It was the best thing she ever did. She is happy and still teaches sometimes, but not at the expense of her creative spirit.

As TMZ first reported, “Idol” Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe told us he would love to have Sheen and Jerry Lewis as judges for season 12. Nigel would not say if he was joking ... but he repeated his wish list several times during the conversation.

CONDITION 1 – Charlie says FX -- the network that airs his show “Anger Management” -- must sign off on an “Idol” deal ... but as Jennifer Lopez proved, being on American Idol can be good for business. CONDITION 2 – Charlie says the money has to be right: “If the numbers move the needle and ‘Idol’ matches 20 per cent of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club ... then the hell with it. As we say, pour the smoke.” That’s Charlie-speak for “Why the hell not?”

Dredd: First Reaction The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its east coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One--a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets.

The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge.

Did Salman Khan really

beat up Somy Ali? While stories strongly suggest that the handsome hunk can be moody and violent, the Ek Tha Tiger hero’s exgirlfriend doesn’t think so…and says so. In the wake of the recent showdown between once-upon-a-time-lovers-nowfriends Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif that reportedly happened during the shooting of Ek Tha Tiger, the first person to react to the scandalous stuff is our Sunny Leone studman’s ex-lover, Somy Ali.

She even sidelined the instance when a fuming Khan hit her on head with a bottle as just a bad day for a regular couple. The famous incident occurred when they were dating each other. Somy clarified, “If he had done that I would have been hospitalised and bleeding profusely. He was unhappy because I was trying alcohol for the first time, thus in his frustration he poured the drink all over the table.”

The US-based former significant other and co-star of the Maine Pyar Kiya debutant’s initial films feels that the bratty Khan isn’t half the devil that the media makes him out to be. In an interview she says: “Salman was never abusive towards me, nor have I witnessed him being abusive to anyone else.”

And in that way she puts an end to the recent story of Ek Tha Tiger hero’s notorious behaviour with an ex-lady love. But is it really the truth, or just an old flame’s mature take on a serious matter? You don’t win any gift hampers for guessing what our cynical minds think!
