Put the romance back into your relationship Things have gotten a little ho-hum at home? Get the hubba-hubba back with these tips
Step 1 - Do something fun, scary, or challenging
Share activities that will make your hearts pound with excitement or make you laugh out loud. People find each other more physically attractive when their adrenaline is pumping.
Step 2 - Save the bedroom for sex
Make your bedroom a place for sex, sleep, and nothing else. Clear the room of mood killers and make it a TV, computer, and personal-digitalassistant free zone. Don’t eat in bed, unless it’s chocolate body paint!
Tip – If you have a king-size bed, consider downsizing: The lack of physical closeness can create emotional distance as well. Step 3 - Work on your self-esteem
Do things that make you feel good about yourself, and encourage your partner to do the same. Researchers have found a correlation between high self-esteem and couples who have managed to keep the romance alive after many years together.
Find out if your partner’s
Facebook friends are really just friends
Step 1 - Just ask
Ask your partner who their new “friend” is, and then look at their pupils. If they dilate, your question may have touched a nerve. And if they touch their mouth, nose, or ears a lot and launch into a detailed explanation of how innocent the relationship is, you may have cause for concern – all of these are signs that they could be lying.
Step 2 - BEFriend their friend
Dig deeper by befriending your partner’s new buddy. If they don’t
accept, or they accept but don’t let you see all their information, they may be hiding something. And if your partner is annoyed or angry with you for be friending their friend that may be another warning sign.
try logging onto their Facebook page – many people forget to sign out. Or try to guess your way in.
Step 3 - Set up a fake Facebook account
If you’re successful, send the socalled friend a flirty message and see what comes back. Keep in mind that your partner will see that you’ve sent a message posing as them and you’ll have some explaining to do if the friendship really is innocent.
If your friend request is denied, go undercover. Set up a fake Facebook account and request their friendship; some people automatically accept – even if they don’t know the person – just to boost their friend count. If it works, you might be able to see flirty wall posts that aren’t visible to nonfriends, and that they would block if they knew you were looking.
Step 4 - Open their account
If friend requests fail and you have access to your partner’s computer,
Step 5 - Send a message
Step 6 - Get serious
For foolproof evidence, install monitoring software on your partner’s computer: it records their every keystroke, enabling you to read e-mails, chats, and instant messages. Just make sure you’re prepared for what you find out.
Step 4 - Have a hands-on relationship
Kiss and touch each other frequently, check in with each other during the day, and make time for sex. A study found that touchy-feely couples who had sex two or three times a week and called and texted each other often during the day reported more satisfying and more romantic relationships.
Tip – Orgasms cause our brain to produce oxytocin, a hormone that makes us feel more attached and loving to the person we’re with. Step 5 - Talk without distractions
Make time to talk to each other without any distractions, like kids or the TV.
Step 6 - Do the small stuff
Don’t wait for a special occasion to give them a card, buy their favourite candy, or take them to dinner. When it comes to long-term romance, it really is the small stuff that counts.

My drunk boyfriend
My boyfriend and I have had some problems lately. When he drinks he tends to say mean things and act like he doesn’t love me. I was always told that when you drink your true feelings come out. I have been trying to fix this problem for sometime but I always seem to forgive him and the hurtful things he says/does when he is drunk. But I guess my way of getting revenge or feeling fine about it is talking to men behind his back. I would never go any further than talking to them but I love the feeling I get doing this.

Am I in love or not? So I met this guy at school and we started talking. One day while walking down the hall he grabbed me and kissed me. It made my heart beat faster. After that every time we were alone we made out until my parents saw a mark on my neck, so I stopped talking to him. He’s in love with me and I can’t stop thinking about him. The worst thing is his best friend is also in love with me but all I can see is him. I know it’s wrong for us to be together but I miss him so much. I wish it was like when I first met him.

coughing
When you’re talking to that special someone but you have to cough really bad what do you do? Putting the phone on mute works wonders.
I love instrumental music. I’m always listening to it – in the car, at the office, on my phone. It calms and soothes me.
Proud! Should I tell her? I have a girlfriend in America and I’m in Trinidad. It’s been like four months since I have seen her and I’m kinda lonely so I went out, partied with other girls, had a good time and basically cheated on my girlfriend. How do I tell her? Do I tell her at all?
Cute but very
old guys
Every time I see a cute guy, especially one who is like way older then me, I act all silly and flirt with him but then I later totally regret it because I realise how stupid I looked!
I’ve lost about 30 pounds and now fit into sexy size four jeans. I have never felt more attractive or more confident. I feel so proud of myself! :)
I’m weird! I feel like I have bugs crawling all over my skin sometimes. It’s annoying. And I look like an idiot when I try to swat them off.

More Vino San Fernando Did you know there is a More Vino in San Fernando? Yes, More Vino, the popular Wine Bar and Sushi Restaurant on Ariapita Avenue, has an outlet in San Fernando. The OMG team went down south, lost its way a bit, but finally got to the restaurant on 33 Scott Street, San Fernando. We were greeted by day manager Jerren Lewis, who was quite pleasant and ready to take us on our More Vino adventure. We wanted to know how a wine bar became a sushi restaurant. Lewis said, “it evolved quite naturally for us. We started selling wines, then our customers wanted to taste them, so we added a little crackers and cheese with the tasting. This escalated to sandwiches and one day, about two years ago, a Malaysian chef approached us about adding sushi to the menu and it has been a tremendous hit since”. The menu has evolved tremendously too. You can now have lunch and dinner at More Vino. They have lunch specials that will cost about $100, and that includes a dessert. Lewis said the menu changes frequently so that regulars can savour a wide variety of culinary experiences.
They see themselves as offering a casual dining experience with exceptional service to their customers. We asked Lewis what wines appeal to his customers. He said the more seasoned drinkers go for a Mélot or Cabernet Sauvignon while those who have a taste for the sweeter wines will go for a Pinot Noir or a Rosé. The folks at More Vino try to cater to drinkers of very level, he said. Their server will take you through the experience and make sure you get the wine you are looking for. Lewis hinted of some very exciting events planned for the rest of August and declared that More Vino is also the place where you can not only have a great time and unique experience; you can also book it for your special events. This week, one lucky OMG reader and a friend will have a chance to experience More Vino in San Fernando. All you do is go to the Express OMG Magazine page on Facebook, “Like us” and write on our wall, “I want More Vino” and you are on your way to a fabulous night out. If you can’t wait to win you can check them out any day. They are at 33 Scott Street in San Fernando. Or you can check them out on Facebook at www.facebook.com/morevino

Luckily for us got a sneak peak of Ms Pegus’s upcoming collection which was inspired by the 50th Anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence. While talking about fashion and business comes naturally to Claudia and was the main focus of the OMG interview, we took a moment to delve a bit more into her other passions and hobbies. “Gardening, walking, sailing, yoga, reading, listening to music are some of my many passions. As well I love spending quality time with close friends and I’m blessed with a few great ones.” After talking to her we realised that we couldn’t just settle for one OMG moment and we managed to get some truly inspiring ones: “Nelson Mandela accepting two of my shirts, not in Trinidad but in Zurich, being awarded the first Caribbean Master at Caribbean Fashion Week, realising the untapped potential of the West Indian Sea Island Cotton for Caricom’s economy, receiving an invitation and attending the Kennedy Centre Honours Awards are a few of too many to mention,” she said. “But, realising the fulfillment of my spirituality has to be the biggest Oh My God Moment. I am a firm believer that “anything is possible if you do what’s required to make it happen”. This interview left us believing that her upcoming collection and involvement in the reinstated FWTT 2012 is guaranteed to have a few more OMG moments for Ms Pegus! Story

Alanna Lewis 24, San Juan, Hockey Player Alanna has been playing hockey since 2005. A member of the national hockey team since the age of 12, she has always been considered a serious competitor by her peers. A very skilled defender with a degree in physical therapy, Alanna was part of the national team that competed in the Commonwealth Games of 2010 in India. She is also proud of being part of the team that won gold for T&T in the CAC Games of 2010. She is also a member of Paragon Women’s Hockey Club which is currently third in the local league. Alanna went to Mucurapo Girls RC Primary School and South East Port of Spain Secondary School from where she earned a scholarship to go to Lockhaven University in Pennsylvania in the US. She spent four years there and was part of the university’s hockey team. Asked about how that experience was she said, “It was intense. They practiced six times per week. I was able to use that opportunity and gained quite a bit of experience”.

How does she feel about a sport she has been involved in for such a long time? This 24-year-old said, “I love playing hockey. It is my passion, but in Trinidad I don’t think I can make a living playing hockey. Hockey does not have the same push and importance as cricket and football, so after all these years playing I must now look at more practical ways of earning a living. Although I have my degree in physical therapy I will be pursuing a master’s next. However I have not decided in what. Trinidad has so much world class talent in hockey. It is a pity that all this talent must go to waste.” She said over the years her coach Colin Thomson has been a tremendous source of support. And of course her family is very important. Without them she would have not been able to pursue her passion this far, she said. Alanna dislikes dishonesty and people who do things half-heartedly. She likes to be around people who put out 100 per cent at all times. Even if you don’t win at least you gave it your best try. Alanna’s OMG moment happened during the halftime in a match. She saw a white water cooler and decided to sit on it. In the middle of the coach’s pep talk to the team, the Styrotex cooler broke apart and she went tumbling onto the floor with ice, drinks and very cold water under her. She said the entire stands saw. “It was bad, really bad. They had to mop up the floor.”

Exciting prizes for young plastic recyclers Turtle watching, a cinematic experience of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on earth and adventures in the Chaguaramas National Park — are just some of the treats in store for students who took part in the first ever Plasti-thon, a plastic recycling competition for schools in north-west Trinidad, held between May 14 and June 8, with prizes distributed in the last week of the school term. The students were challenged by the Plastikeep Recovery Programme — a project of the environmental NGO the Greenlight Network — to search their neighbourhoods and school environs,

Celebrate What You Have “I was an insecure teenager: overweight, braces, freckles. My grandmother Jean pulled me aside one day and said, ‘You only have one life—don’t waste it worrying over what you don’t like about yourself. Celebrate what you have that is beautiful.’ Every time I get down on myself, her words come flooding back to me, crystal clear.”

for plastic that has been dumped in the streets and on beaches, or earmarked for the dustbin at home. Those collecting the most plastic won a host of exciting prizes from Republic Bank, Mt Plaisir Hotel, Digicel, Carib Smalta, Chaguaramas Development Authority, the Neal and Massy Foundation and Nigel R Khan Booksellers. The kids won a lot of fun prizes. According to Rosanna Farmer, Project Director at Plastikeep: “We’ve been amazed by how many students took part in the Plasti-thon and the enthusiasm with which they went about collecting plastic for recycling. We hope this will have encouraged them to continue their efforts during the school vacation and into the new school term. We’d also like to whole-heartedly thank all the sponsors who came on board at very short notice and without hesitation. This would not have been possible without them.”

HOW
TO’S
Get a quick energy boost If you find yourself feeling worn out, break free of those doldrums and give you back your pep.
Step 1 - Get moving
Get going with some quick exercises like jumping jacks or push-ups wherever you are. Bursts of activity will increase your heart rate and blood flow to your brain for a quick pick-me-up.
Step 2 - Go for a quick walk
Take time to head for a quick 10-minute walk in the sunshine. The sights and sounds of nature can elevate your mood and the Vitamin D from sunlight can give you a boost of energy.
Tip – Consider purchasing specially designed desk lamps that simulate sunlight and boost mood and energy even during bleak, rainy or cloudy days.
Step 3 - Motivate with music
Flip on some motivational music to get your heart rate up, your mind focused, and your enthusiasm for the day chugging.
Step 4 - Feast on a healthy snack
Chow down on a healthy snack like nuts, which contain protein to dilate blood vessels and help with blood flow.
Tip – Protein also boosts mental alertness and energy, and keeps you from crashing later. Step 5 - Help a friend
Assist a friend in need for that rush of feel-good chemicals called endorphins. You can feel the same high by laughing at a funny video, cartoon, or joke as well.
Step 6 - Surround yourself with happy people
Cultivate the company of naturally happy people and hand out a few compliments to feel instantly energised the rest of the day.

Kenrick Rampial Photographer For Kenrick Rampial of Chaguanas photography is an art form. He says, “I paint on a digital canvas using light as my brush. It really is a combination of spirit, composition and light. I love working with the subjects, be it fashion, portraits or weddings. It is really fulfilling, after doing a wedding, when they call back and say they are blown away by the photographs.” Kenrick was first introduced to photography some 17 years ago when he studied graphics and applied arts at John Donaldson Technical Institute and it has since become a passion for him. In 2001 he bought his first camera, a Nikon Coolpix, and in 2006 he went into photography full-time as part of his business. He now

Third ‘Hobbit’ film confirmed was an unreserved ‘yes.’
An extra film, announced earlier this week, will create a second trilogy from director Peter Jackson. After a three-film Lord of the Rings series, New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. will return to Middle Earth for another three pictures. The three companies and series architect Peter Jackson announced that The Hobbit, the prequel to the LOTR series that was initially planned to be broken into two parts, will instead be split into three. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the third film will be released in summer 2014.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14 of this year; There and Back Again, the second film, is due out December 13, 2013. “Upon recently viewing a cut of the first film, and a chunk of the second, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and I were very pleased with the way the story was coming together,” Jackson said in a statement. “We recognized that the richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, gave rise to a simple question: do we tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as filmmakers and fans
“We know the strength of our cast and of the characters they have brought to life,” the Oscar-winning director continued. “We know creatively how compelling and engaging the story can be and—lastly, and most importantly— we know how much of the tale of Bilbo Baggins, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur would remain untold if we did not fully realize this complex and wonderful adventure. I’m delighted that New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. are equally enthusiastic about bringing fans this expansive tale across three films.” Jackson ran footage of his first Hobbit film -- they were shot simultaneously in New Zealand -- at this month’s ComicCon in San Diego. The films star Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, and return Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Smigel, and, in smaller roles, Elijah Wood as Frodo and Orlando Bloom as Legolas. The director has said that he filled in two films with information that the series author, J.R.R. Tolkien, wrote later and put in an appendix at the end of Return of the King, the third LOTR book. He teased at Comic-Con that he had shot plenty of extra footage.
Greenland “ice-melt” reaches unprecedented level Unprecedented melting of Greenland’s ice sheet last month has stunned NASA scientists and has highlighted broader concerns that the region is losing a remarkable amount of ice overall. According to a NASA press release, about half of Greenland’s surface ice sheet naturally melts during an average summer. But the data from three independent satellites, analysed by NASA
and university scientists, showed that in less than a week, the amount of thawed ice sheet surface skyrocketed from 40 percent to 97 percent. In over 30 years of observations, satellites have never measured this amount of melting, which reaches nearly all of Greenland’s surface ice cover. When Son Nghiem of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory observed the recent melting phenomenon, he said in the NASA press release, “This was so extraordinary that at first I questioned the result: Was this real or was it due to a data error?”
