GIYA PARA SA PRAYER MEETING
Lukas 21:5-19
Arin an urog mahalaga? An adorno kan Templo o an kalinigan kan sakong puso? “Kagurangnan, nuarin ini mangyayari asin ano an tanda na ini mangyayari na?” Kan pagpuon ni Jesus kan saiyang ministeryo, dakul an saiyang paradangog. Duman natatanaw ninda an gayon kan Templo. Sagkod sain an pagsunod ko ki Jesus? “Dai kamo magbali-bali sainda.” Kan nagkaigwang gera, linog asin gutom, dakul an nagbutwang mga peke na propeta na nagtatararaman na madali nang matunaw an kinaban. May mga nagsasabi man na daog na an Dyos kan demonoyo. Kun mag-abot an panahon nin makurang pagsakit, sisay an linalauman ko? n
Let us pray for our country, that peace and love may reign.

Holy Lives
IT WAS IN the late 90’s when we experienced dark moments in our family. I felt I was journeying in a dark tunnel where I couldn’t see any light. One ST. JUDE’S day, while I was so desperately praying inside the Naga Cathedral, I saw a piece of paper on the pew. It was leaflet on St. Jude Thaddeus. On that day, I started a 9-day novena to thank God for knowing St. Jude. In 2005, another trial came to us: our landlady insisted that we vacate the house within two months due to unpaid rent. My prayer that time was specific: “Lord, please give us a decent house; I don’t want to live in a damp and dirty place.” Then I asked for the intercession of St. Jude Thaddeus and committed to do a 40day novena. Within 40 days, my prayer was partially granted when the owner of our previous house (we sold before) needed a huge amount of money for her to go abroad. She talked to us to pay for our house back and I said yes without even knowing where to get the money. She said she was also praying to St. Jude Thaddeus for a “yes” answer from us. Thru the earnest prayers from both of us, it was like a miracle when a bank granted us a loan—with no collateral! After seven years we’re back home. Upon learning that St. Jude Thaddeus is the patron saint of our parish, I immediately paid him a visit in the church and saw a smile in his face. sjtp experience: nagbábàgong-lawog an parokya jong surtida
CENTRAL TO the ten-day celebration of SJTP fiesta was the Eucharist—when one becomes Christ to another. Designed “to form our social conscience and direct us to perform concrete acts of mercy to the society,” the fiesta themes challenged us to be missionaries of mercy and compassion to the peripheries. The social mission of mercy and compassion was also reflected in the Mass sponsorships by involving all parishioners—from subdivisions to sitios. It drew schools, government offices, nongovernment organizations and business establishments to participate in the devotional and liturgical activities. The ministries were vibrant and in full, active and conscious participation. It may be oblivious to some but the “Teddy Serye” catechesis before each of the novena Masses played a part. SJTP Pastor Fr. Wilmer Joseph S. Tria brought to the community the life of St. Jude through the language of the masses—a la teleserye. He wove the daily catechesis not with a formal tone but with what the popular texture—spiced with wit, pun and drama, always ending with the familiar “abangan ang susunod na kabanata.” The tone of the

catechesis itself unveiled the intent to reachout to the peripheries. What was most striking in the celebration, however, was not the sustained number of Mass attendees but the presence of new faces every day. The liturgy had included those in the laylayan—the small but significant. As observed by a parishioner, they responded enthusiastically to the call to come and to become one with the entire community. Through the celebration, the true face of the parish really took shape.

Various programs and activities are to be offered throughout the year. 4) Pilgrimage Club: this committee designs and organizes pilgrimages locally and abroad for families, couples or individuals to enrich their faith and culture. All funds go to support the catechetical programs of the parish. Another ministry is the Renewal & Integration in Parish Ministries: this is the Parish Renewal Experience designed to reactivate interest in the Parish with the aim of enrolling them in one or two religious organizations, and eventually, into one or two ministries. n
