Advent task
fr. nunilon arnold f. bancaso jr. IT IS OUR task to announce the coming of the Lord. Two thousand years ago, that we are ready to be sent as the coming of Jesus, the spokespersons of Jesus’ coming? SUNDAY anointed one was announced What does it mean when we by John the Baptist to the say “yes”? people of Judea. He was the prophet spoken First: We are ready to live in simplicity, by Isaiah in the Old Testament, saying: for in this state we can better evangelize and “A voice of one crying out in the desert, bring the good news to the people. Our ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, and make good works manifest that we are preparing straight his path.’” the hearts of the people to receive Jesus. John’s mission was to tell the people Every time people see us doing good works, that they prepare. He reminded them to we become precursor of Jesus’ goodness. turn away from sin and return to God. Second: We are ready to stand by the To those who wanted to be saved, they truth by all means. Even those in power, if accepted his teachings and he baptized we see the need to call their attention, we them in the river Jordan. On the other need to face them and help them to realize hand, he criticized the Pharisees and the that there is a need to change, to convert Sadducees and warned them that they from sinful ways into what is good and in couldn’t run away from the wrath of God, accordance to Jesus’ teachings. This task is that’s why he said to them “to produce not easy, but a noble thing to work on. good fruit as evidence of their repentance.” Third, We know that everything that Many followed John and became his we do is not ours, but of God’s and for disciples, but he knew that his mission was His greater glory. We know the purpose of not to bring the people close to himself, our mission and through this we can offer but to the one who has sent him. With everything even our struggles for the sake of full trust in God, he captured many hearts God’s kingdom. willing to be saved. But more than that, This is the message of our gospel. he knew that someone mightier than him Let John the Baptist be our model as we was about to come. He said, “I am not prepare for the coming of Jesus. n worthy to carry his sandals.” John’s humility was evident not only in his way of life, by eating locusts and honey, by wearing clothes made of camel’s hair, but rather, in his acceptance that what he was doing was just a preparation for the great coming of the anointed one. He announced broadly the forth coming of Jesus by being his spokesperson. And many people heeded his voice and became followers of Jesus. Can we do the same? This very moment, can we say to ourselves

GIYA PARA SA PRAYER MEETING
Mateo 1:18-24
Domingo 3 nin Adbyento (Taon A) “SIRING KAINI an pagkamundag ni Jesus.” Mahalaga an pag-istorya kan pagkamundag ni Jesus. Kun mayong pagrumdom, mayo man kitang pagkamidbid sa satong sadiri. Ini an mamundong kamugtakan kan mga ulianon. Kan nawara na an saindang memorya, nawara naman an saindang identidad. Ano an mga itinutukdo ko sa sakong mga aki tanganing dai mawara an saindang pagkaKristyano?

“An anghel kan Kagurangnan nagpahiling sa saiya sa paagi kan pangiturugan...” Paboritong imahen ni Papa Francisco an turog na San Jose. Ano an ginigibo ko tanganing mautob ini?

No matter how rich one is, without peace, it’s nothing. I sustain peace in my prayer life. I realize now that I am older, I get less of the things I need. In times of temptation, I say, “Lord, I am being tempted. In my present need, I believe that you are aware of my anxiety and will do what is better for me. Give me the strength to trust in you as I put the present and the future in your merciful hand. Grant this through Christ, our Lord.” With Mary pregnant with the Child, this prayer helps me through.”—miles reblando, almeda village “Advent is waiting for the coming of Jesus. For me, Advent as a preparation is in the heart. I open and welcome problems, trials, and even persecutions, for they pass and teach me. Parish launches St. Jude Charity ellen m. peña
AS A RESULT of the ongoing pastoral visits of the SJTP pastor Fr. Wilmer Joseph S. Tria to various villages and sitios, particularly among areas where informal settlers are located, the parish has launched the St. Jude Charity (SJC). Fr. Wilmer saw and observed not only the spiritual needs of these communities, he was also confronted with social problems right at starkest clarity. SJC hopes to provide and augment material needs of indigents in the parish. It will seek ways and means to gather provisions for food and other items, such as new and used clothing, footwears, toys, books, hygiene kits, housewares, cash donations, and even scholarships to deserving children, in order to bring hope to families who are living on or below the poverty threshold and help them attain better quality of life. On November 20, in celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King, the ritual of Tinagba—Bikol ancient ritual of paying tribute to a king—was held with parishioners offering anything they can give, from food items to books and even house wares, during the offertory rites. SJC will manage these donations and distribute them as gifts to at least thirty indigent families during the Aguinaldo Masses. The families who will receive gifts
“Makatakot an problema kan drugs. Maribok asin makahadit lalo na kung nagsosolo ka sa buhay. Ngunyan, sa Simbahan, nakakanuod ako sa pagpamibi asin sa pagsa-Dyos. Mayo man pinipili an Simbahan, kundi inaalok pa ngani ang mga pigtokhang asin an saindang pamilya na magbalik sa Dyos. Ini garo an Adbyento kan katuninungan.” —bec prayer leader “Advent for me is preparing myself and my family to have a clean heart to be able to fully receive the baby Jesus in our home. Preparing a clean heart is having confession and doing penance—through works of mercy, particularly among the poor. I will have to do this to have peace within, and to bring hope to others too.”—nora lynn perez, vgh n
are must be registered SJTP parishioners and have regularly been attending Prayer Meetings. On December 11, after the Children’s catechism, gifts will also be distributed to kids who are consistent attendees of Sunday masses and catechism. SJC projects will not materialize without the generous support of individuals, families, institutions, and businesses that recognize giving as a form of blessing. A Tiangge or a row of thrift shops will also be opened so that indigent families may purchase non-food items at very affordable and equitable price. Though SJTP encourages culture of giving, it does not promote dependency. The proceeds of the Tiangge will go to the expansion of the parish church; this will be the contribution of its less fortunate members. SJC will continue even beyond the Christmas season. It envisions implementing long-term projects and programs that will benefit more children, families, and communities, and bring them more closer to God! n
