worshipped. Not a mighty warrior, a cosmic force or a political messiah, but one of the meekest animal. As John the Baptist proclaimed, “Christ is the lamb of God”, who was sacrificed on the wood of the cross and who made all of this new reality possible As we gather each time in Church for the mass, we remember all the chances that God gives us so that we may able to perform the right praise. The whole cosmos gathers around the altar during the mass for right praise. The mass is so much more than a community gathering for mutual support. It is a conduit to heaven where angels and saints are often invoked. “May our voices be one with theirs” in our effort to make it right this time. 4 fr. francis a. tordilla
Reflections from the sakristans' camp
F
rom April 23 to 25, seventeen members of the SJTP Ministry of the Altar Servers attended the Archdiocesan Summer Camp 2019—Year of the Youth. The camp was held at the Ateneo de Naga University High School campus in Pacol, Naga City. The activities of said event revolved around the theme, "Caceres Altar Servers: beloved, gifted, and empowered children of the Church we love and serve." Let us read some short reflection pieces by three of our lady altar servers, and thereafter, reflect too on our own devotion and service to the Church.
we learned a lot from the talks of the invited priest-speakers. They really helped us realize how important it is to be a worthy and loving server of God. This year's camp had also an Alternative Learning Session for each altar server— there clinics for basketball and volleyball, sessions on basic computer operation, altar decoration, first aid, and editing using photoshop—and with these session, surely, we will be able to help our parish and community more because of the skills and lesson we acquired. Summer Camp wouldn't be complete without the Holy Mass. We attended Mass every 6pm. After the Mass on April 23, we joined the Easter Procession. Its route went through the roads outside the Ateneo campus and ended back in the chapel. On April 25, we represented our parish, SJTP, as readers and commentator during the Mass. After the Mass, we celebrated a miniparty that celebrated the success of the said Summer Camp. We were also pleased to see that our parish priest, Fr. Wilmer Tria, with our
two parochial vicars, Fr. Rex Hidalgo and Fr. Francis Tordilla, came to visit us and to celebrate with us. Everyday during our camp, the summer weather was really scorching hot, but thought of this as a form of sacrifice to God. Despite unfavorable weather, fun, friendship, and faith were always plenty. The camp made way for us to meet and make friends with other fellow altar servers from the other parishes of the Archdiocese. Now we're back from the camp. We're back, with much assurance that we are indeed "beloved, gifted, and empowered altar server of God."—Micah Espiritu ****** kang inot na aldaw mi sa summer camp, ugmahon kami ta kadakol na naman kaming nabisto, kadakol na naman kaming nanudan, kadakol na naman kaming memories na nahimo. Nabo-boring lang kami ta pag nagto-talk, bawal magribok; pag nagmimisa man, ugmahon kami ta
