It has been lovely to have all the children back into school this week, showing great enthusiasm towards their new sports this term.

The children from Reception to Year 3 have started Athletics in their Core PE lessons this term. This week's focus was on sprinting technique. The children took part in Miss Flockhart’s sprinting experiment, to detect what the most effective sprinting technique should look like. The children discovered the following three key points:

1. Moving their hands from cheek to cheek.

2. Light on their feet whilst driving their legs forwards.

3. To ensure they’re focussing on looking forwards, not side to side.

Miss Flockhart was extremely impressed with how well the children sprinted and their Rita Resilience they demonstrated throughout all of the races! The majority of all of the children improved their time from last year, some by 3 seconds which is a fantastic achievement!

Nursery have focused on their rolling skills this week. They started by sitting on the floor, pushing their ball out in front to roll. They then had to chase after the ball to stop it and bring their ball back to the starting line to have another go. The children then progressed this skill onto rolling their ball to a partner, whilst moving back to make it slightly harder.

The children then tried to roll their ball from a kneeling position. Miss Flockhart was incredibly proud how quickly the children progress their rolling technique.
