Wow what a busy first week back! It was so lovely to have all the children back in the classroom on Monday and to hear of all their exciting adventures over the Easter break.

We have looked at numbers 11-20 in maths exploring the composition of these numbers in tens and ones.

In phonics we have learnt new tricky words and have been superstars reading and writing cvcc words using our phonic knowledge.

Down at Forest school, we continued our learning of numbers 11-20 by making leaf kebabs. The children had to find a number written on a tree and then find the corresponding number of leaves for their kebabs. Some excellent number recognition and counting skills!

But without a doubt our highlight of the week has to be our trip to Harlow Carr gardens in Harrogate. After the excitement of the coach journey, the children had the opportunity to explore the gardens, observing the different plants, trees and flowers. We saw bee hives, sculptures, lakes and rivers, and not forgetting the three play parks! Our workshop was all about how plants grow and all of the children listened carefully as they were told about the parts of a plant and what they need to be healthy. We went to the greenhouse and had a go at some gardening ourselves . One by one, the children planted their flower seed into a small pot of compost. These will be at school so we can watch them grow.

All of the children behaved very well and we are all so proud of them! Thank you to all the staff helpers on our trip!
