Year 1 to Year 3 have started cricket in their games lessons. With the focus being fielding for Year 1 and 2. Creating a coned gate in the middle, for each pair to attempt to roll their ball through the middle of the coned gate. If the pair managed to roll their ball successfully 6 times through the coned gate in the middle, they could make the gate narrower. Year 3 worked on an underarm throwing technique and catching. Their challenge was to practice their throwing and catching skills with a partner. It was brilliant to see the children supporting one another in their partners and congratulating one another when they managed to hit the wicket.
Finally, Reception are taking part in teamwork games during their Games lessons this term. They focused on a game called treasure island. Which allowed the children to revisit their throwing and catching skills and balancing a beanbag on their head. It was fantastic to see the children communicating with one another to work as a team.
The children have had a busy first week back settling into their new sports. Miss Flockhart has been incredibly impressed how they have taken on difficult challenges within their stride and cannot wait to see what they can achieve in the coming weeks.
