COACHING STAFF
HEAD COACH MICK JANOSKO Mick Janosko has served as head coach of the Bearcats since 1998, and has built a program that focuses on success, both on and off the playing field.
“We’ve built a strong program from the ground up,” says Coach Janosko. “We’ve made tremendous progress and we’re looking to continue to get stronger. The players and the staff realize the value of hard work. There is no substitute. That’s why our philosophy is pretty simple: Commitment, Hard Work and Focus. We want players who are committed, who work hard and who have good focus, not only on the field, but off the field as well.” Coach Janosko's squads have eclipsed the 20-win plateau seven times, including a school-record 2717 mark in 2003 and a 26-20 record in 2004. The 2004 squad finished in first place in the American Mideast Conference's North Division, and reached the NAIA Region IX finals, falling one game short of the NAIA World Series. It was the most successful season for Bearcat baseball in over two decades, and Janosko was awarded Coach of the Year by both the AMC and NAIA Region IX.
Janosko has coached seven All-Americans, while more than 50 have been named All-Conference. The Bearcats have finished with a cumulative team batting average over .300 eleven times under Janosko, while the Bearcats' have finished with a fielding percentage over .945 in each of Janosko's seasons.
14th Season
Janosko was previously the assistant coach at Point Park College from 1992-1994. During his two years as assistant coach, the Pioneers finished second and first respectively in the KECC.
As a player, Janosko had a successful career, playing at two top-ranked college programs, Marietta College (OH) and Point Park College (PA). During his senior season at Point Park, Janosko played left field, catcher and designated hitter on a Pioneer team that posted a then-national record winning streak of 44 games. He hit .390 that year while driving in 32 runs. He participated in two College World Series and had several tryouts with pro clubs including Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
A 1986 graduate of East Allegheny High School, Janosko lettered in both football and baseball, earning all-section honors his junior and senior years. In 2006, he was named to the East Allegheny Athletic Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements.
He played semi-pro baseball for 12 years in the Daily News League, a newspaper sponsored league in the Mon-Valley area of Pittsburgh that has been in existence for over 80 years.
A 1990 graduate of Point Park College, Janosko earned his degree in journalism-communications. He and his wife Melodi reside in East McKeesport, PA with their three sons, Parker, Kendall and Traynor.
His teams have also had success in the classroom, with numerous players named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll stemming back to the 2006 campaign. Also, 2005 graduate Josh Morrow became the first player in program history to earn National Scholar-Athlete laurels from the NAIA.

2011
Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence.
Comprised of 10 select private colleges - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University, and Westminster College - the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of high pressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself.
All-conference status is awarded in all 19 sports. Head coaches select all-league squads for all team sports, while in individual sports, such as cross country and tennis, All-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships.
The PAC expanded to seven members in 2005 with the addition of Thomas More College, formerly an NCAA Division III independent. Saint Vincent College, a former NAIA member, joined the conference as it began provisional membership status in NCAA Division III in 2006-07, and is now a full member of the NCAA. Another NAIA member, Geneva College, became the conference’s ninth member and began league play as it started Division III provisional membership in 2007-08. Chatham College became the league’s 10th member, also in 2007-08.
The PAC annually awards its men’s and women’s All Sports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in PAC competition. The Grove City and Washington & Jefferson men tied for the top spot in the 2009-10 year, while the Westminster women captured the women’s All-Sports Trophy. True to its mission, the PAC has produced numerous Academic All-Americans and NCAA Postgrduate Scholarship winners. Last year, the league named over 650 student-athletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who attain a gradepoint average of 3.60 or above.
The PAC annually crowns champions in 19 sports. In 2009-10, the conference had 42 teams represent the conference in postseason play, including 23 in NCAA Championship events. PAC championship teams receive automatic qualification status for most NCAA Division III national championship events.

Saint Vincent College first opened its doors in 1846, and baseball played an important role for students right from the start. Some of the earliest found writings by a Saint Vincent student are from the diary of Francis X. Reuss, a student from 186669. He began his diary on August 31, 1867, and the second entry in his diary discusses playing a game of “Base Ball” on campus with friends. His journal entry for September 4, 1867 reads,“I umpired a game of Base Ball this morning between the two teams of the Hero Base Ball Club. The club was organized Aug. 31, 1867 to play a game with the Scholastics.”

BEARCAT BALLFIELD
One of the top small-college baseball fields in the region, Bearcat Ballfield is always in top-notch shape thanks to hard work by the coaching staff and players. The field is located in the center of campus, in a natural bowl surrounded by student dorms that offer fans an ideal view from all angles.
BEARCAT
Since head coach Mick Janosko took over the Bearcat program in 1998, Bearcat Ballfield has received a number of additions and upgrades. The field features a full-sized electronic scoreboard beyond the fence in left center, as well as a concession stand and press box behind home plate. Constructed prior to the 2005 campaign, the press box has a top-notch public address system and music stereo, while it is also completely wired for television and internet broadcasting.
Prior to the 2007 season, a permanent fence, standing nine feet tall, was erected in the outfield that fully encloses the playing field. One of the largest fields in the are, outfield dimensions measure 325 feet to left field, 365 to left center, 405 to dead center, 420 to right center, and 365 down the right field line.
BASEBALL
Located in the left field corner, a batting cage measuring 80’ by 15’ was fully paved in the fall of 2007, allowing for usage in even the wettest of weather.
In addition to the natural setting created by the surrounding hillsides, Bearcat Ballfield also features bleacher seating for 150 along the third base line.
Bearcat Ballfield also has an infield tarp, allowing the field to stay in top condition, and the team to keep rainouts to a minimum, in the less-than-ideal Western PA springs.
