COACHING STAFF
HEAD COACH NICOLE HINERMAN 5th Season
Coach Nicole Hinerman took over the Bearcat softball program in 2007, and has built the Bearcats into a solid, consistent contender in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference. Her 66-65 overall record is the best four-year mark in program history, topped by the 2008 squad which finished 22-16, establishing school records for wins in a season and winning percentage. She has coached 11 all-conference performers over the past four years, highlighted by 2009 graduate Ashley Whipkey, who became the first player in school history to be named All-District in the prestigious Capital One Academic All-America program.
No stranger to SaintVincent softball, Hinerman put together arguably the finest four-year career in program history. The third baseman was a two-time AllAmerican Mideast Conference selection and three-year captain. During her senior season, she led the AMC in numerous offensive categories, establishing SVC school records in batting average (.538), slugging percentage (.924), and on-base percentage (.582), while leading the team with 20 doubles and 26 RBIs. As a junior in 2003, she was an All-AMC performer after batting .415 with 12 doubles and four triples, helping the Bearcats advance to the AMC postseason for just the second time in program history.
She graduated from SaintVincent in 2004 with honors with a degree in Psychology Education. She was awarded the prestigious E.Albert DeLuca Award, given to outstanding senior athletes who display responsible and dependable leadership during their four years at the college. Hinerman currently resides in Greensburg, PA, and is a 2000 graduate of Greensburg Salem High School.
ASSISTANT COACH RICH HINERMAN Coach Rich Hinerman is entering his fifth season as an assistant to his daughter Nicole on the Lady Bearcat coaching staff. A resident of Greensburg, Rich has over 20 years of coaching experience at various youth levels.
At Saint Vincent, he assists with all aspects of the team, including hitting, fielding, and pitching. On gameday, he serves as first base coach. Rich is employed as a carpenter with Local 462 in Greensburg, PA.

THE PRESIDENTS’ ATHLETIC CONFERENCE Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence.
Comprised of 10 select private colleges - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University, and Westminster College - the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of high pressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself.
All-conference status is awarded in all 19 sports. Head coaches select all-league squads for all team sports, while in individual sports, such as cross country and tennis, All-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships.
The PAC expanded to seven members in 2005 with the addition of Thomas More College, formerly an NCAA Division III independent. Saint Vincent College, a former NAIA member, joined the conference as it began provisional membership status in NCAA Division III in 2006-07, and is now a full member of the NCAA. Another NAIA member, Geneva College, became the conference’s ninth member and began league play as it started Division III provisional membership in 2007-08. Chatham College became the league’s 10th member, also in 2007-08.
The PAC annually awards its men’s and women’s All Sports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in PAC competition. The Grove City and Washington & Jefferson men tied for the top spot in the 2009-10 year, while the Westminster women captured the women’s All-Sports Trophy. True to its mission, the PAC has produced numerous Academic All-Americans and NCAA Postgrduate Scholarship winners. Last year, the league named over 650 student-athletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who attain a gradepoint average of 3.60 or above.
The PAC annually crowns champions in 19 sports. In 2009-10, the conference had 42 teams represent the conference in postseason play, including 23 in NCAA Championship events. PAC championship teams receive automatic qualification status for most NCAA Division III national championship events.

SAINT VINCENT ATHLETICS SaintVincent College believes that physical activity is essential for a wellrounded education. With 20 varsity sports, and over a dozen club and intramural sports, SaintVincent gives student-athletes an opportunity to continue their athletic careers while receiving a top-notch liberal arts education at America’s first Benedictine College.
Saint Vincent student-athletes achieve success on the field and in the classroom. In the 2009-10 school year, over 65 student-athletes receieved post-season honors from the Presidents’ Athletic Conference for their performance on the field, in the pool, on the court, and on the course. In addition, a total of 330 Saint Vincent student-athletes have been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll over the past four years, which recognizes student-athletes who achieve a grade-point average of 3.60 or higher during their season of competition.

The Carey Center also boasts 15 full-sized locker rooms for year round use by varsity athletes, as well as a fitnes center, equipped with the latest free weights, weight machines, and cardio equipment. Located just outside of the fitness center is the Bearcat Athletic Training Center, which is fully staffed and has ample room for medical treatment, rehabilitation, and therapy.
The SVC Softball Field
The SVC Turf
Upon entering campus, the Lady Bearcat softball field, built in 2004, is immediately visible, as is the school’s brand new artificial turf multi-purpose field. Completed in March 2009, the turf field is the new home to Bearcat field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse. Adjacent to the softball and turf fields is Chuck Noll Field, an 1,100 seat stadium home to the Bearcat football team in the fall and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the summer. Located in the center of campus is Bearcat Ballfield, home of the SVC baseball team, while the outdoor tennis courts, completely resurfaced in 2007 and used by the Lady Bearcat tennis team, are located on the upper part of campus, offering a picturesque setting with a view of the entire Saint Vincent campus.

Located in the back section of the Carey Center is the Frank and Elizabeth Resnick Pool. In addition to being put to use by the Bearcat swimming teams, the pool is utilized by a number of athletic teams for conditioning workouts, while the entire SaintVincent community is welcome to use the pool for recreational swimming.
SOFTBALL
Saint Vincent athletes have the privelege of using some of the finest facilities in small-college athletics. The Robert S. Carey Center, built in 2003, is truly a premier facility, serving the needs of every athlete at the College. The gymnasium, with a seating capacity of 1,300, features regulation basketball and volleyball courts, and is also utilized for practice by the softball, baseball, and lacrosse teams. In addition to the full-sized basketball/volleyball court, there are five additional practice courts, which are used recreationally by students, and also for intramural competition.

The Saint Vincent athletic tradition is a long and rich one, from the school’s first baseball game in 1867, to the establishment of women’s varsity athletics in 1984, to the rebirth of Bearcat football in 2007. Nearly every program has achieved success and recognition on the national level, while over 100 Saint Vincent student-athletes have been named AllAmerica, both athletically and academically.
