Gabriel Gomez may be new to Noosa (he moved here in 2014), but he’s already leaving his mark on the community. Gabriel, who grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, is the owner of organic apothecary Noosa Basics, which stocks everything from aluminium-free deodorant and hand cream to cocoa butters, shea butters, and face wash. Everything is made onsite at his local manufacturing facility in Noosaville with the fewest possible high-quality botanical ingredients.

Gabriel, who originally studied graphic design, has always had a strong interest in healing ailments and plants thanks to his grandmother who would regularly share her knowledge with him. “Since then, a great affinity for natural remedies has stayed with me,” he says. “When I first envisioned this brand, I wanted to make easily accessible aluminium-free deodorants. At the time, there was no aluminium-free options available in pharmacies.”

On a normal day, you’ll find him jumping between his

warehouse, shopfront, and liaising with the many departments that make up Noosa Basics. “I oversee the whole operation, making sure it’s running smoothly and maintaining standards.”

As for what motivates him, Gabriel says: “Disrupting the industry and discovering new natural remedies that benefit our bodies.”

“I see this more as a journey rather than a career since it’s a continuous growth and expansion,” he explains. “From a very young age, I’ve always been a curious person, questioning and solving problems my own way rather than following conventional ways or trends.”

And that definitely rings true for Gabriel, who has worn many hats on his journey – he has dabbled in wildlife photography and conservation, even introducing the concept of ‘reusable bags’ to pharmacies in his home country.

As for the perfect day in Noosa? Gabriel says it entails a family day out at the local beach, surfing and having tons of fun.

LIVE IN TLC

The Lullaby Club are heralding an era of inclusive and sustainable fashion that’s not only comfortable but tailored to individuality, too.

COVER STORY
Goldie Dress (Black and Blue) $129.95, Juniper Spaghetti Strap Dress (Black and Tiger) $112.95

Now more than ever before, it’s vital for brands to look to a more sustainable and inclusive future – after all, fast fashion and trifling size ranges are just so passé. Thankfully, The Lullaby Club have known all about this since day dot.

Initially, a seedling idea between mother and daughter duo, Kevina and Marisa, The Lullaby Club is now home to a selection of maternity and breastfeeding-friendly garments for mamas and minis. Trans-seasonal hues, comfort, style, and of course, inclusivity, is the name of the game at TLC.

“Our clothes are designed to be versatile and wearable year after year. It’s not just about comfort – we want you to feel confident in what you’re wearing, no matter your age, shape, or size,” says director and co-owner, Marisa Taschke.

Remarkably, the brand was born in an unassuming rumpus room in 2018 when Marisa found herself in dire need of quality bedding for her growing family. “When I couldn’t find a baby bedding set that I loved, I decided to design my own and open an online store with my mum,” Marisa says. And so they say, the rest is history… (or not really).

From there the brand expanded – the rumpus room turned into a front yard shipping container, and later they relocated to a fully-fledged head office with enough resources and staff to ship worldwide.

Despite growing rapidly and so successfully, TLC don’t let anything slide – “from the painstaking choice of fabrics to a highly vetted selection of wage-paid overseas factory employees, down to the packaging and process to get our goods to your door, no step has been overlooked.”

“We’re so grateful to have built a community of women who support our brand and the work we do. It’s crazy to think that just a few years ago, we were shipping out of the downstairs of my parent’s home,” says Marisa.

Loyal customers know feeling comfortable and confident in pregnancy and beyond is totally achievable thanks to The Lullaby Club. It’s just the cherry on top that they stock sizes 6 to 22 and maintain a sustainable focus through all their processes. At the end of the day, nothing feels better than The Lullaby Club – being able to enjoy all of life’s most important moments in gorgeously soft and stylish pieces is a must.

We’re already adding pieces from their latest Asteria Collection to our cart.

If there’s one thing we’re good at in Noosa, it’s fashion. There’s no denying that style is embedded into the heart and soul of our humble coastal town. Take our array of iconic boutiques and oh-so-chic locals for instance – they know fashion can be bought, but style is simply instinctive.

MEET THE MAKERS

Dressmaker, black smith, cobbler… in today’s fast fashion world are these ancient crafts still relevant? Well, these local artisans are here to prove they sure are! Handmade with diligence, love, and most importantly, style, get to know these slow fashion brands the Sunshine Coast is lucky enough to claim.

Woven Palm

Chatting to Kim Bexton, you can tell she’s far from a traditional cobbler while still being authentically skilled as one. While learning classical shoe making techniques from an old-school maker – when it came to starting her own label, Kim’s approach was much more down-to-earth. Resonating with the laid-back Noosa lifestyle, and ensuring that shoes are wearable and durable as well as stylish, is at the core of Kim’s brand – Woven Palm, that began way back in 2014 while Kim was on maternity leave with her son. “Woven Palm slides originated around the idea of luxury handmade slides for busy women, that reflect the relaxed, natural, and salty elements known to beach lovers,” she says. Kim’s designs take inspiration from ancient civilisations stating, “the earliest sandals were very simple creations, made from natural materials like leaves, twisted vines and woven palms.” This refined simplicity is clearly shown in every beautifully constructed pair of sandals that Kim makes by hand in her Sunshine Beach studio.

Matilda Cove

It’s no surprise that our Noosa coastline is the birthplace to some beloved swimwear labels, including homegrown brand Matilda Cove. The brainchild of sister act Peggy Harkin and Challee O’Reilly, this dynamic duo brings equal parts creative flair and business acumen to their brand, which has undoubtedly led to their success. When discussing their design ethos, Peggy mentions, “our designs are for the modern, empowered woman – for all women. They are inspired by the beautiful Australian coastline and reflect the ‘Down Under’ casual, fun loving and confident beach culture.” A sustainable and ethical approach is also at the heart of this sun-soaked brand. “Our label is committed to a consciously eco-humanistic business model which means everything we do and everything we stand for involves a respect for the environment and for the people,” Peggy says. “We oppose mass production which depletes resources, exploits people, and ruins the environment. We have sourced luxury quality fabrics made from recycled ocean waste – fishing nets, this means a cleaner ocean with every garment sold.” MATILDACOVE.COM.AU

Jolie Femme

As a Noosa native, Isabelle Campbell is a local go-getter you need to know! With a truly wonderful and unique concept, Isabelle’s brand Jolie Femme sources gorgeous vintage bed linen and transforms them intro completely customised, gloriously feminine tea dresses. “Jolie Femme began with a vision of reducing our impact on the earth whilst creating beautiful, feminine garments. I took a year with a pledge to buy nothing new. No new clothes, shoes, and so on. During this time my passion for sustainability and the importance of looking after our mother earth really resonated with me. My mother is a talented seamstress and taught me to sew as a little girl. The first Jolie Femme dress was created in 2020 and very quickly I began sending dresses all over the world,” says Isabelle. Each dress that Isabelle creates is slowly and lovingly hand cut and sewn to order, making each piece completely customisable. Listing new fabrics on her site weekly, customers can choose their own vintage print, pick their desired silhouette, add extra details such as buttons, bows, and frills, and send over their measurements for Isabelle to lovingly create by hand.

Lily & May

Lily Mayfield has been crafting her beautiful handmade jewellery since grade seven…talk about a child prodigy! As Lily grew, so did her design aesthetic, developing into the refined coastal adornments she is now known for. By grade twelve she was working as a casual employee at beloved Noosa boutique CLO Studios, where she took guidance and support from local design maven Chloe Tozer, who would later become a cherished stockist of Lily & May pieces. Lily’s pieces embrace a connective approach to the ocean and shoreline lifestyle. Using Australian-sourced freshwater pearls and shells, Lily’s pieces reflect the colours of a beachscape with beautiful whites, beiges, corals, and blue hues.

Rebuffing mass-production, each of Lily’s glistening pieces are devotedly made in her Noosa home and as Lily puts it “I feel today everyone has the same of everything, I love the idea that no two pieces are the same as everyone deserves their own uniqueness.” LILYANDMAY.COM.AU

Zephyr Lounge Wear

Looking to discover more hidden gems in Noosa’s circle of local brands? Look no further because we want to shine a spotlight on Zephyr – a store that deserves a place in your little black book of boutiques.

Owner Cherilyn Hewish is meticulous in her store’s curations, bringing fashion-forward designs to her Noosaville shop and more importantly to the local community.

The boutique oasis is situated on Mary Street and houses a plethora of charming linen, silk, velvet, and cotton garments. And just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be more, Zephyr also stocks a range of bed linens.

Cherilyn knows the power of fashion (and good bed sheets) – how a pretty

little something can lift the spirits of many.

“I love seeing women look in the mirror and see themselves looking beautiful,” Cherilyn says.

30 years ago, Cherilyn was making cotton bed linen and mosquito nets for friends, flash forward to now and Zephyr is a booming business – just ask anyone who has wandered their way through the boutique. The best part? It’s always been based in Noosa, proving that local is the way of the game!

We couldn’t think of a more well deserving boutique for success than Zephyr – from humble beginnings to where it is now. Bask in the glory of the store and pick up a treasure or two on your next visit.

Surf Etiquette 101

1. Give right of way

The surfer on the inside, closest to the breaking wave has priority.

2. Never drop in

When a surfer is on his or her feet first, don’t try to take off or drop down the face of the wave alongside.

3. Don’t snake or paddle up the inside When a larger set approaches, take on the white water instead of paddling wide which hinders other surfers.

4. Never let your board go You may ‘clean up’ a fellow surfer. Your leg rope is your best friend.

5. Please avoid Remember no surfing near swimmers and swimming near surfers.

FASHION

Located in the heart of Hastings Street, their effortlessly feminine styles have become synonymous with the Noosa aesthetic. We chat to Owner and Creative Director Kirstin Keysers on why she chose to give her beloved brand KIVARI a home in Noosa.

Tell us a bit about your brand’s history:

Founded in 2014, KIVARI was born from a passion of adventurous travel and connection to our oceans. Known for its distinctive aesthetic of effortless and versatile silhouettes, we consciously create quality pieces with integrity and heart. Utilising natural fibres and alternative manufacturing methods to balance our operations with mother nature.

How would you describe your brand in a few words?

Feminine, effortless, considered.

What attracted you to operating in Noosa?

KIVARI is known for its coastal aesthetic and resort wear silhouettes, we have had huge success with our Byron Bay boutique, so moving further north and chasing a never-ending summer was an easy decision for us. Plus, Noosa is one of our favourite holiday destinations, especially as a family!

Noosa is renowned for its fashion boutiques – why do you think in-person shopping still appeals to people?

From its beaches, restaurants, and shops all in one beautiful little hub, Noosa is an easily accessible location for travelers

of all walks of life to have a holiday spot that still feels like home. I think there is a real connection in that feeling when on holiday and why the hustle and bustle of Hastings Street is so popular, especially when the beach is only a couple of steps away for a quiet moment in between.

What can people expect when shopping in your store?

A warm welcome and a place to retreat and have some you time! We have a very versatile product offering with everything from dresses to denim, basics, knitwear, jewellery, and swimwear. Our sizing ranges from a 6-16 and our friendly staff are always on hand to walk our customers through a personal styling session to ensure they find their perfect piece.

Favourite piece from your current collection?

The Iman 3-piece suit launching this month is definitely a favourite at the moment.

What’s something unexpected people might not know about your brand?

We are passionate about designing sustainably made pieces for timeless wear. At the heart of our craftsmanship is a mission to use the most durable, breathable, and natural materials across our collections. We are constantly working with our suppliers and global community to explore new fabrics and sustainable manufacturing practices to further our ethical journey and lessen our carbon footprint.

TAKE YOUR PICK

We asked two groovy gals with an unmistakable eye for fashion to select their go-to ‘fits.

Owner of Alterior Motif, Penny Lane’s take on:

Bow & Arrow creator, Tegan Lamb’s take on:

Seaside lunch Day-to-night

“Effortless and chic, these are my go-to styles for a lazy ocean view lunch in one of the many luxe restaurants on Hastings Street. Bold prints and pops of colour reign supreme in our curated edit of styles in store.”

“Noosa has a refreshing duality to it, with turquoise waters and tropical hideaways just a stone’s throw from chic dining spots. Afternoon dips in Little Cove’s sparkling shoreline requires nothing more than a humble yet chic one-piece and a (not-sohumble) visor to beat the heat. The inevitable transition from sand to the bar for evening cocktails will feel like a breeze in wide-leg linen flares and raffia accessories.”

CHIT CHAT

with Bree McCann

This mama can do it all! Bree McCann on balancing an international swimwear label, modelling, and motherhood.

While we’re used to seeing her globe-trotting antics on our IG newsfeeds, things have definitely slowed down for this Noosa local and first-time mum. Queensland model and swimwear revolutionist, Bree McCann welcomed her first child, Mars Onyx McCann, into the world early last year. Now, almost one year on, she’s ready to hit the ground running, while still transitioning into her new role as ‘mum’.

26 | STYLEMAGAZINES.COM.AU
I remember thinking, how I am ever going to do everything I want to do and be the type of mum I want to be at the same time?”

Hi Bree! Thanks for chatting with us, and a big congratulations on your little man. How old is he?

Thank you! Mars is 9.5 months.

That’s a really unique name, what’s the inspiration behind it?

I knew I wanted an ‘M’ name if we had a boy because I liked the alliteration in my husband’s name (Mitch McCann) and my dad also has alliteration, so I wanted to keep it going! Mars’ middle name ‘Onyx’ is our favourite natural stone. I had never heard it as a name but had just always loved it!

What has given you the most joy as a mother?

Mars laughing and giggling with us! The simplest games and smallest things make him so happy. It has really taught me to appreciate those little moments when they happen.

What’s the biggest surprise?

How fast things change and how important it is to appreciate where you are at right now. I spent many years as a model living in New York and everything was very fast-paced. I was so focused on the next job or the next trip, I don’t think I ever really appreciated what I was doing at the time. I know it sounds cliché, but now as a mother I see Mars growing and changing so fast. I have had to remember to slow down and appreciate the current stage because it will be gone soon. The newborn phase already feels like a beautiful blur!

How do you balance running a business, modelling and being a fulltime mum?

Balancing work and motherhood have been the hardest part by far! The first few months are definitely an adjustment. I remember thinking, how I am ever going to do everything I want to do and be the type of mum I want to be at the same time. But I think you learn to adapt and be more productive in short spaces of time. Thankfully, Mitch and I both have our own businesses, so we have had a little flexibility to juggle everything together.

Could you tell me a little bit about your swimwear brand, Code B?

Code B is an inclusive swimwear brand designed for all shapes and sizes.

I really wanted to give women the confidence to feel good in swimwear by designing styles that flatter curves and really focus on fit. As a model, I was always a little too big for mainstream brands but not quite curvy enough

for plus size brands. I always felt divided between the two – like there was an unnecessary disconnect.

This gap carried over to the swimwear market as well – I wore a lot of swimwear and I found that mainstream brands were often too skimpy and then plussized brands were too conservative or skewed towards older customers. There was no middle ground. I wanted to make swimwear that catered to curves and regular bodies with the right amount of coverage to be flattering, but still keep things young and fresh. I really believe that our bodies are all so unique and beautiful in their own way – just because you are curvier doesn’t mean you need to cover up.

What are your plans for the year ahead?

I’m currently designing the next collection, which I am very excited about because it’s the first time I can really feel the travel optimism coming back. For the last few years, there’s been this Covid cloud over everything, so it made designing and running Code B quite tough.

Swimwear is so inherently connected to holidays, sunshine and feeling good so I’m really excited for what’s to come now! We are hoping to go back to New York and take Mars to Mexico for the first time. I was based in New York for six years and I spent a lot of time travelling so it will be nice to go back and explore the world again. It’s a perfect Noosa Sunday, where are you and what are you doing?

We would be at the beach – most likely surfing Tea Tree Bay all day and then finishing with sunset drinks and dinner at Sails.

TRAVEL ADVICE with Natalie

Antarctica by air

Recently I was able to experience the magic of seeing Antarctica by air on a scenic day trip with Chimu Adventures. I had already seen it by ocean so naturally, I wanted to compare it by air – and it did not disappoint.

We boarded the chartered Qantas aircraft and there was immediately a sense of excitement, gratefulness, and anticipation. After all, we were headed to an unknown bucket list destination – everyone’s emotions were on a high.

Throughout the journey we enjoyed a snack and some light inflight entertainment. Within hours we were served brunch and before landing, a lovely dinner.

I was one movie down when the pilot satellite called Casey Station – one of three permanent stations and research outposts in Antarctica. We got to listen to an interview with a Glaciologist and learnt all about the station operations, facilities, and day-to-day happenings.

The flight continued and unlike a commercial flight, everybody was up and about chatting and sharing the windows to view. We saw glaciers, different ice formations, and a myriad of blues. It was so wonderful to see the enormity of the Antarctic from the air. It’s something you have to see to believe.

My advice? Antarctica is not too unreachable, too expensive, or too cold and should you have been there before, you haven’t seen it all. The scenic day flight over Antarctica offered by Chimu Adventures allows you to experience the grandeur and wonder of Antarctica with fun and ease. I now have to try their scenic flight to the southern lights! If you’re looking to embark on a travel experience similar to this, get in touch with Noosa Cruise and Travel.

INTEGRATIVE COACHING with Kelly

What happens beyond a breakup?

There is nothing worse than finding yourself in the midst of a relationship breakdown and witnessing the vision you once had for your life disintegrate before your eyes.

Yet breakups have the potential to be one of the most liberating experiences if you are willing to go within to heal.

Conscious Uncoupling is a term coined by Katherine Woodward Thomas and celebrated by the infamous separation of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. No this is not simply a celebrity moment for woke couples to walk hand in hand together and post their separation to their socials.

Conscious Uncoupling, as I have begun to appreciate, both personally and professionally, is a deep healing process that offers an opportunity for a happily even after no matter what the breakup of your relationship might look like.

This is an opportunity to look after yourself and create new possibilities for love in your future whilst going through one of the most challenging processes any human can endure. Loss of love, attachment, safety, trust and certainty in another to name only a few aspects.

It is the work you do for yourself and the support you create around you that will keep your heart open and allow you to evolve from within.

When we are making choices from a deeper place of wisdom and bring awareness to our own triggers in the process of breaking up we can create strategies to safeguard us through the eye of the storm.

The one place we knew as home is no longer home and we now get to create that space within our own selves once again and open ourselves up to the wonderful opportunities life can present when our heart remains open to love.

EXPLORING THE EVERGLADES

There are only two everglade systems in the entire world and we’re lucky enough to have one of them in our very own backyard. Welcome to the Noosa Everglades.

30 | STYLEMAGAZINES.COM.AU

Noosa has it all – pristine white sandy beaches, crystalclear waters, amazing flora, and fauna, oh, and one of only two everglade systems in the entire world. Yes, we’re talking about the breathtaking Noosa Everglades (the other everglade system is in Florida in case you were wondering). Nestled among two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, the Noosa and Cooloola region of the Great Sandy National Park, the Noosa Everglades, also known as the ‘River of Mirrors’, are a series of stunning waterways and tropical wetlands connecting the Northern Noosa River system on the Sunshine Coast. If you have not yet visited them, or are craving an adventure like no other, then a trip to the Noosa Everglades will not disappoint. We’ve rounded up the best ways to experience the Noosa Everglades in all its glory.

Getting there

If you’re on the Sunshine Coast, the Noosa Everglades are only a short 30-minute drive from Noosa Heads. Many excursions depart daily from the Noosa River, which is only a short 15-minute drive. Kayak and boat tours also leave from Boreen Point and Elanda Point, just 25 minutes from Noosa Heads.

How to explore the Noosa Everglades

Whether you prefer to explore on foot or via water activities and tours, there are endless ways to experience the beauty of the Noosa Everglades.

If you’re up for an adventure, we’d recommend kayaking the narrow waterways. From the bird singing to the beautiful lily pads floating on the water and the majestic trees lining the way – it truly is an incredible way to experience the Noosa Everglades up close. However, if you just prefer to sit back and relax, an eco-safari guided boat tour is the way to go. Other water activities include kite

surfing, canoeing, or sailing. Another popular way to experience the everglades is by foot. There are a number of walking tracks to choose from, however we’d recommend checking out the track that runs between Elanda Point and Mill Point. It’s 5.1km return and takes in some of the area’s best sights. And if you don’t want the fun to end, there are a couple of campsites around Lake Cootharaba – picture shady, bushland surroundings, sandy banks, and sprawling, calm waters.

FUN FACT:

When’s the best time to visit?

Rain, hail, or shine, there’s never a bad time to visit the Noosa Everglades. Since us Queenslanders are pretty lucky with the weather all year round, checking out the waterways in winter is no deal breaker. It’s actually a lot more pleasant if you’re not a fan of the humidity! As for the flora and fauna, prepare to be amazed year-round, too!

The Pomona Distilling Co

40 years in the making, Pomona Distilling Co is a haven for gin lovers and farm-to-table fans alike. Boasting their famous grain-to-glass spirit that patrons can try alongside a tasting platter or by purchasing a bottle to take home (we’re certainly in favour of the latter!).

The venue itself is something out of an enchanted garden with six spaces to choose from (there’s even an art gallery on site). Sit back and enjoy a G&T at the garden bar, wine and dine in the bistro, or bask in the sun rays on the back lawn.

As for their menu, it’s honest, earthy, simple, and fresh! The dishes are designed to be shared with friends and family. And there’s something for all appetites – from grazing platters and shared plates to Australian favourites like parma’s, fish and chips, and burgers. All that’s left to do now is let the fun be-gin.

Pomona Bakery

If you’ve ever had the honour to try something from the Pomona Bakery, you won’t be surprised to see this gem on here. Serving up good ol’ fashioned bakery goods six days a week. Stop by for a morning cuppa and check out their array of epic meat pies, decadent sweet treats, and fresh bread aplenty! Fresh goodies are the name of the game at Pomona Bakery, and you’d be mad not to try their award-winning pie!

Tigeress Heart

It wouldn’t be a country town without a boutique store filled with treasures you won’t find anywhere else! And Tigeress Heart is just that – a boutique store stocked with linen and vintage clothing, silver jewellery, leather goods, and homewares. Next time a stranger asks, ‘where’d you get your earrings from’ or ‘I love your top, where can I get one?’ you might just find yourself saying ‘from Tigeress Heart in Pomona!’

This Bird Florist and Creative Studio

When art meets flowers, you’re left with This Bird Florist and Creative Studio – an eclectic space perched on Reserve Street. Whether you fancy yourself an art aficionado or floristry lover then you’ll love this chill oasis. Stop by to view their variety of aprons, artworks, books, flowers, cards, puzzles, and more!

The Majestic Theatre

The world’s longest-running silent cinema is right on our doorstep. Yep, that’s right, Pomona is home to the legend that is The Majestic Theatre –one of the few pre-World War II picture theatres remaining, which allows it to claim its title as ‘Queensland’s longest operating picture theatre’ and the only cinema in the world that continuously screens silent films.

So, if you’re looking for an activity that’s a little out of the norm then look to The Majestic Theatre. View their current screenings on their website and stop by to get a feel for its rarity.

HAT’S THE WAY

Order

Locals know that culinary excellence is not hard to come by on the Coast – but now there are awards to prove it. Yes, that’s right, the experts at Australian Good Food Guides have spoken, revealing a slew of eateries that have been crowned with a 2023 Chef Hat award. This means a handful of restaurants have been awarded for their consistent culinary excellence, based solely on the food itself. Eager to see who won? Let’s dig right in (excuse the pun).

Sum Yung Guys

Where all your pan-Asian foodie dreams come true – Sum Yung Guys is known for their exceptional mix of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean flavours. The dishes are cooked up and served by celebrity chef, Matt Sinclair, his three mates, and the talented team of staff.

Locale

Drawing heavily on Italian tradition, Locale is all about providing the freshest and most delectable eats with a menu filled with everything from handmade pasta and antipasti to desserts to die for! You certainly won’t be leaving here hungry.

ALBA by Kuruvita

Renowned for embodying the essence of fine food, ALBA by Kuruvita is Noosa’s latest food destination. It’s here where you’ll find global flavours along with Sri Lankan spices, seasonal produce, and local seafood to please.

up! The 2023 Sunshine Coast Chef Hat winners have been announced.

Sails Beach Restaurant and Bar

An oldie, but a goldie – Sails Beach Restaurant and Bar has been around since 1994 and has never failed to impress. Executive Chef, Paul Leete, is a pro at the creative fusion of modern Australian cuisine – so you can expect top-tier barramundi, Moreton Bay bug, and amazing prawns.

Noosa Waterfront Restaurant

It’s impossible to leave here disappointed! Noosa Waterfront Restaurant is one of the finest dining locations on the Sunshine Coast (and for good reason). Run by highly experienced restaurateur, Andrea Ravezzani, the food here is tantalising with fresh ingredients and flavour to boot.

Noosa Beach House

Boasting contemporary coastal dining, Noosa Beach House is well deserving of a Chef Hat’s and here’s why; whole butterflied lobster, French Oscietre caviar, and freshly opened appellation oysters – need we say more?

Sumi Open Kitchen

Known for their grilled line-caught mackerel which is marinated in sakelees and miso, simmered with turnip and crab sauce, and served with pickled fennel and yuzu – Sumi Open Kitchen is a rare find. After all, it’s not every day you get to enjoy Japanese kappo charcoal grill dining.

Rickys River Bar and Restaurant

The infamous Rickys Noosa has also made the cut for a 2023 Chef Hat. If you haven’t yet experienced a meal in this legendary venue, then you haven’t lived. Be sure to order the spanner crab spaghettini and enjoy the passionfruit souffle if you’re a sweet tooth!

Bask

Just outside of Noosa in the humble town of Eumundi is where you’ll find the perfect spot to embark on a culinary adventure – think salted cod croquettes followed by roasted pork loin, and finish up with olive oil cake, marmalade, and whipped cream!

MINDFUL MATERIALS

Creating beautiful, high-quality products that positively impact our environment is all in a day’s work for TTK Collective Co-Founders, Janelle and Nicki.

The detrimental impact of fast fashion on the environment comes as no surprise to us all. With such a large portion of fashion waste going straight to landfill, more and more people are looking to make a difference by changing their spending habits, and TTK Collective coowners, Janelle and Nicki, are helping us kiss goodbye to fast fashion once and for all.

It all began with the need for a creative outlet and a passion for sustainability. And so, eco-friendly fashion label, The Travelling Kimono, was launched over a decade ago. “At the time, the concept of ethical and sustainable production was not well understood, but I was determined to bring this vision to life,” Janelle recalls.

Covid lockdowns meant the team had to permanently close their well-loved Noosa boutique and sell The Travelling Kimono, but despite hard times, the continuous support from the local Noosa community led them to explore more opportunities.

As Janelle and Nicki shifted their focus, they opened their own ethical manufacturing house, TTK Collective. “Through our knowledge and experience, we wanted to open up the doors to be able to offer ethically made products for other like-minded people who are just as committed to having an influential brand as we are.”

“There is no force more powerful than a collective of brands transforming the fashion industry for good,” says Janelle.

“We prioritise the use of sustainable fabrics and materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester, and work with suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and preserving the planet,” says Janelle. Just two years later, TTK Collective now produces pieces for 28 different brands.

With another exciting project currently in the works, these business-savvy fashionistas aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. After spending a year planning, designing, and perfecting their products, they’re finally ready to launch their new eco-friendly and ethical merchandise brand, TTK Blanks.
