FINANCE REPORT COVID-19 presented a number of unique financial challenges for the Subiaco Football club in 2020. However, I am pleased to report that, notwithstanding these challenges, the club will report a profit for the year. The positive financial outcome for the year would not have been possible without proactive and decisive cost cutting measures implemented by club management and endorsed by the Nathan O’Connor board. However, it is appropriate to also recognise the broader financial support SFC received in connection with COVID-19, including: • The fulfilment of financial commitments made by club
sponsors notwithstanding the abbreviated season and the significant pressures facing their own businesses in 2020; • Federal government support via JobKeeper payments for
employees; • Grant funding from the WA state government; and • Waiver of a portion of SFC’s lease obligations by the City
of Vincent While the financial result for the year represents a very pleasing return to profitable operations, it is recognised that it arose in unique circumstances unlikely to be replicated in the short to medium term. Therefore, the board and club management remain committed to tackling the broader financial challenges facing SFC in 2021 and beyond. On a personal note I would like to thank my fellow finance committee members, Peter Capes, Debbie King and Basil Fuller for their efforts and support throughout the year.
