BUTCHER IN BRIEF

Poole Town Ladies’ Head Coach on overcoming a rough start to the season

still feel our team is a team is in transition. It’s been tough from the beginning of the season with so many changes to the squad from coaches to players that it’s had an effect on the pitch. The cup run was a positive, but even in some of those games when we played good football we didn’t get the results we deserved. We’ll continue to work hard in training and with a couple of new additions to the side we will hope to pick up some points and move forward. I have total belief in these ladies and their abilities. All teams go through blips at times. The main thing is to remain positive.

his week brings another league fixture for us as we welcome Maidenhead. With our cup run going so well, we need to now focus on getting back into the swing of winning ways into the league. I mentioned last week how the fight in us is strong and we are hungry for our next three points on the table. We just have to enjoy the game and it will come. All the girls are ready and determined this will be our week, the week we snatch another three points, the week we show what Poole Town Ladies are about! 5

Hi Katie, how do you feel the season is going so far?

I first heard about Poole Town through an email inviting me to a trial. I originally was at the I feel like, as team of new trials for the second team but players gelling together, we are being able to make the first doing amazing and to be able to team as early as I did was just get to the first round proper amazing. I have loved every in the FA Cup a few weeks back moment since. shows that. Who do you compare yourself From a personal point of view, to? how has it been playing women’s football after joining Poole in the I aspire to be like England Ladies summer? captain Steph Houghton because of her confidence and all that It’s a big step for me going she has achieved with the straight up to women’s football national team. and being the youngest in the team, however I feel like the What do you get up to in life players have helped me settle outside football? right in. In my life outside of football I like When did you hear of interest to see my friends, go shopping from Poole and how have the and spend time with all of my players helped you settle in? family.

MAIDENHEAD UNITED TODAY’S OPPOSITION Maidenhead United Ladies, like Poole Town Ladies, have sufferred a dismal start to the 2018/19 season. The former sit at the bottom of the table, while Dolphins are just two points above them. That makes this afternoon’s fixture a potentially massive three points for either side - Poole looking to increase the gap and gain on Swindon, while Maidenhead have the chance to rise from the foot of the standings.

League Table 1. Keynsham Town Ladies 2. Southampton Womens 3. Cheltenham Town Ladies 4. Brislington Ladies 5. Chesham United Ladies

Maidenhead have managed just one point so far this season with a 2-2 draw at home to Swindon Town Ladies in early October.

6. Buckland Athletic Ladies

Unlike Poole, Maidenhead still have cup football to look forward to, having recently beaten Denham United Ladies on penalties in a domestic fixture.

8. Southampton Saints

Nevertheless, the away side come to County Ground off the back of heavy defeats to Buckland Athletic Ladies (8-1) and Keynsham Town Ladies (5-2). Ultimately, both sides will see today’s game as a huge opportunity to get a precius win under their belts.

POOLE TOWN LADIES

CHESHAM UTD LADIES

When: Sunday 25 November

1 5 MATCHREPORT Where: County Ground

Poole Town Ladies suffered another league defeat at home to Chesham United Ladies on Sunday. The Dolphins went ahead on the 21st minute with a goal from top scorer Hollie Agombar, but Chesham meant business and goals from Fraser, Euman, Lopez, and Smith wrapped up a convincing 5-1 win, despite another strong performance from Poole goalkeeper Sam Chrippes. The results across the league meant that the standings were unchanged in the FA Women’s National League South West Division 1. That left Poole Town tenth in the league with just one win and seven defeats in eight games, while Chesham remained fifth with five wins and four losses in nine matches. Today’s clash with Maidenhead is a real six-pointer. 9
