Message from the President Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Samantha Sze and I'm the president of Southwest Career and Technical Academy for 2017-2018! In the past month, we held two service projects. In the first one, members took old t-shirts and turned them into dog toys for the Animal Foundation. The second one was our annual PB&J-Athon for Catholic Charities. We've also recently held our Inductions. During our ceremony, we had about 100 members inducted. I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and I hope to see you soon! Sincerely, Samantha Sze

Message from your Editor Hey Key Clubbers, I hope you enjoyed my first newsletter as your new 2017-18 bulletin editor. I’m looking forward to this term, and to bring you guys monthly newsletters. I put in a lot of hard work and dedication into this newsletter,so I hope you enjoy! The school year is coming to an end, only a few more weeks! Love, Megen Lopez

PB&JATHON Southwest held its annual PB&J-ATHON that has been hosted traditionally for the past three years. We made over 70 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, which will then be donated to several Catholic Churches.

It was fun experience to share with our friends and the fact that it gives back to our community makes it even better. —ALYSSA CLAIRE VICTORIA, CO 2020

The PB&J-athon was a great & fun way to give back to my community while socializing with my friends. I also got the chance to acquaint myself with people in my club I hadn't really talked to before because we all had to work together and communicate to make the sandwiches. -IZABELLA GUIAO, CO 2019

April DCM

The April DCM was my first DCM as VP of Spirit. Justin (our past LTG) and Nicole (our current LTG) never fail to remind us key clubbers that we are a family and share the same passion of being leaders and serving our community. We have accomplished so many things as a club this year and this DCM motivated me to do my best to help lead our club.  This DCM was a great way to start off the term and I'm very excited for the great things ahead of us as well as working with all the amazing people along side me on board. —HannaMae Imperial, Class of 2019

RELAY4LIFE 2017

Southwest CTA attended Relay for Life at Spring Valley to raise cancer awareness. Over 100 of our members attended and raised over $600 for the American Cancer Organization by selling waffles and key club windbreakers. From the Silent Walk to Mr. and Mrs. Relay, there was never a dull moment. Mary Intal, VP Community Service / Whenever I go to a place where a bunch of key clubbers gather, it never disappoints. Relay is an event where we get to raise money and awareness for a good cause while getting to create memories in the process; what better place to do a promposal. The rest of night was filled with laughter and hugs to try to fight against the cold weather, making it unforgettable.

Shawn Wang, IPP / My final relay was a fairly good experience, I got to see old friends from different schools, spend time with my club, and work hard to contribute money to the foundation. Despite the cold breezes, I most enjoyed the food and socializing. We had raised over $600 for the American Cancer Society by selling our windbreakers and waffles. It took a lot of preparation, but I am 100% sure it's not in vain. I love relay for life, and I would recommend it for anyone who is interest in going. Never be afraid to go out there.
