Policing Dundee: Community Summaries ~ April - October 2011 Section 1: City Centre and Maryfield Crime • Overall reduction of 30.7% in Groups 1-4 crime ( 572 crimes), largest reduction in Division and a further improvement on the 28.8% recorded last month • Reduction in crimes of dishonesty of 30.1% (403 crimes) • Largest reduction in Division in vandalism of 42.8% (174 crimes) and an ongoing impressive improvement from the 27.9% reduction recorded the previous month • Largest reduction in Division in domestic housebreaking of 61.3% (46 crimes)
Detection rate • Highest detection rate across the Division for Groups 1-4 at 58.5% • Best detection rate across Division for crimes of dishonesty at 64.9%, an improvement of 5 percentage points compared with last year and an improvement of 1 percentage point over last month • Significant improvement in detection rate for domestic HB, from 24.0% last year to 34.5%
Points to Note • 14 robberies recorded to date (same as previous year), 5 detected (35.7%).
Section 2: Lochee and Ryehill Crime
Central Division Section 2 - Violent Crime
• Overall reduction of 18.4% in Groups 1-4 crime (271 crimes) • Reduction of 17.5% in crimes of dishonesty (169 crimes) • Reduction of 31% in vandalism (131 crimes) • Reduction of 30.9% in domestic housebreaking (29 crimes)

Monthly crime levels mainly the same or slightly higher than last year and mostly affected by a peak in August 2011.
Section 4: Longhaugh and Broughty Ferry Crime • Overall reduction of 30% in Groups 1-4 crime (451crimes), a further improvement over the 26.7% reduction recorded last month • Continues to be the only Section not to show an increase in violent crime (13.7% reduction, 7 crimes) • Reduction in crimes of dishonesty of 34% (296 crimes) improving on last month's reduction of 31.6% and biggest reduction across division • Reduction in vandalism of 23.3% (121 crimes) also improving on last month's reduction of 19.7% • Continued reduction in domestic housebreaking of 48.1% (64 crimes) an improvement on last months reduction of 36.9% - housebreaking almost halved in this Section
Detection rate • Continues to evidence best detection rate for domestic HB across Division, significant improvement from 19.5% to 47.8%

CRIME
Policing Angus: Community Summaries ~ April - October 2011 Section 1: Forfar and Kirriemuir Crime • Overall reduction of 17.3% in Groups 1-4 crime (115 crimes) • Biggest reduction in violent crime in Division (40%) decreasing from 15 recorded last year to 9 • Reduction in crimes of dishonesty of 20.1% (86 crimes) • No robberies recorded to date • Reduction of 7.3% in vandalism (14 crimes) Section 2: Montrose and Brechin Crime • Overall reduction of 29.3% in Groups 1-4 crime (182 crimes), improving upon the 25.8% recorded last month, and demonstrating the best result across the Division • Reduction in crimes of dishonesty of 23% (72 crimes), a further improvement over the 14.4% recorded last month • Reduction in vandalism of 40.1% (107 crimes), a further improvement on the 39.7% recorded last month and the best result recorded for the Division Section 3: Arbroath Crime • Overall reduction of 16.1% in Groups 1-4 crime (134 crimes) • Reduction in crimes of dishonesty of 23% (119 crimes) • Reduction in vandalism of 12.5% (32 crimes) a further improvement over the 10.8% recorded last month • Biggest reduction in Division for domestic housebreaking (26.1%), represented by 6 fewer crimes Detection rate • Best detection rate across the division for Groups 1-4, improving from 49% last year to 51% • Best detection rate across the division for crimes of dishonesty, improving from 53.3% to 55.9% • Best detection rate across the division for vandalism, improving from 29.6% to 35.1% • Best detection rate across the division for housebreaking at 47.1% Points to Note • Increase in violent crime of 35%, from 20 crimes to 27, main contributors to the increase are 1 murder and 4 attempted murders and 2 counts of threats and extortion. Serious assault has fallen from 15 last year to 11 for the current year • Increase in crimes of indecency of 120%, from 15 crimes to 33, 18 of which fall within the new recording categories under sexual assault Section 4: Carnoustie Crime • Reduction of 52.9% in crimes of indecency (17 crimes last year down to 8 this year) • Lowest level of domestic housebreaking in Division with 6 recorded since the beginning of the year Points to Note • Increase of 19.% in over Groups 1-4 crimes (40 crimes) • Decrease in detection rate for Groups 1-4 from 43.1% to 32.7% • Increase of 18.2% in crimes of dishonesty (18 crimes) • Increase of 47.5% in vandalism (38 crimes) • Lowest detection rate in Division across many crime group and KPI areas 25

Policing Perth & Kinross: Community Summaries ~ April - October 2011 Section 3: Perth City Crime • Overall Groups 1-4 crime remained the much the same as previous year (1417 crimes) Detection rate • Highest detection rate across the division for Groups 1-4 at 52.7% • Highest detection rate across the division for crimes of dishonesty at 56.8%, a further improvement on the
56% recorded last month Points to Note • Increase of ten crimes for violent crime from 61 recorded last year to 71, changes to this category include 2 murders and 8 attempted murders occurring in the Section (0 and 2 the previous year), an increase in child cruelty/neglect and unnatural treatment cases from 3 to 13 and an increase in robbery from 18 to 23. Serious assault has fallen from 33 recorded last year to 21. Section 5: East Perthshire Crime • No robberies recorded since the beginning of the year Detection rate • Highest detection rate across the division for vandalism at 44% Points to Note • Increase in overall groups 1-4 of 7.6% (32 crimes), the only Section to show an increase • Increase of 14% in crimes of dishonesty (34 crimes)
Section 6: South Perthshire Crime • Reduction of 33.1% in vandalism (53 crimes) Detection rate • Highest detection rate across the division for domestic housebreaking at 43.5%,
Points to Note • Reduction in Groups 1-4 has flattened to 2.6% (14 crimes) compared with the 10.4% recorded the previ-
ous month • Increase in housebreaking from 13 last year to 23 this year
Section 7: North and West Perthshire Crime • Reduction of 42.9% in Groups 1-4 crime (106 crimes), best result across Division • Reduction of 36.1% in crimes of dishonesty (57 crimes), which represents the best result across the Division • No robberies recorded since the beginning of the year • Significant reduction of 58.2% in vandalism (46 crimes), improving on the 56.3% reduction recorded the previous month • Only 1 housebreaking occurred in this Section since the beginning of the year Detection rate • Low level of vandalism recorded (33) and high detection rate of 39.4% maintained, an improvement of 15.3 percentage points over last year
