Chuy Soy pequeño de estatura, pero mis papás me dicen que, si como todas las frutas y verduras podré crecer hasta tener la altura de Gerad Piqué, mi jugador favorito de futbol. Me gusta salir en las tardes a jugar con mis amigos e imaginar que estamos en la final de la Champions League. También me encanta cuando en familia subimos el cerro para ver la ciudad. Lo mejor es que en el camino me encuentro con diferentes animales y plantas, como el torote, mi árbol favorito de toda Baja California Sur.

I’m small, but my parents tell me if I eat all my fruits and vegetables, I’ll grow as tall as Gerad Piqué, my favorite soccer player. I like to go out in the evenings to play with my friends and imagine that we’re in the finals of the Champions League. I also love when my family and I go hiking and get to see the whole city from above. One of the best things of the trip to top is seeing different animals and plants, such as the torote. The torote is a type of tree that only grows in the Peninsula, and I really like it.

Mi ropa favorita son los shorts porque son cómodos para explorar, ¡por eso amo el verano! Cuando voy a la playa me gusta snorkelear para ver los peces y plantas que hay en el mar. Me encanta el pozole, porque es una de las primeras comidas que hubo en nuestro país. Después de comer, toco el piano con la ayuda de YouTube y a veces, en la misma aplicación, veo videos con caricaturas de cómo fue la Revolución Francesa o quién era María Antonieta.

My favorite clothes are shorts because they’re comfortable for exploring, that's why I love summer! When I go to the beach I like to snorkel, because I can see all the fish and plants underwater. I love pozole, because it’s one of the first dishes that existed in Mexico. After eating, I play the piano with the help of YouTube and sometimes I watch cartoon videos of what happened in the French Revolution or who was Marie Antoinette.

Bella Me gusta ir a la playa y sentarme a leer frente al atardecer. A veces soy introvertida y por eso me encanta escribir en mi diario. Ahí creo historias, por ejemplo, de gigantes que viven en lugares mágicos y que junto a sus mejores amigos buscan tesoros escondidos. Mi comida favorita son las enchiladas de pollo y lo que más disfruto hacer en las tardes es buscar en internet, con la ayuda de mis papás, qué otros libros puedo leer. Después de eso, me voy corriendo a mi clase de ballet.

I like going to the beach, because I can sit down and read in front of the ocean until sunset. Whenever I feel creative I like writing on my diary so I can write all the stories I want. Sometimes I write about giants, and other creatures, living in magical places, and their adventures. My favorite food is chicken enchiladas and what I enjoy doing the most in the afternoons is searching on the internet, with the help of my parents, what new books would be fun to read. After that, I go to my ballet class.

Matías Me gustan las plantas porque producen oxígeno. ¡Y muchas veces nos olvidamos de que son muy importantes para el mundo! Sé hablar español e inglés, y estoy aprendiendo francés. En realidad, me gustaría saber al menos cuatro idiomas porque así voy a poder hablar con más personas y visitar muchos países lejanos. Mi actividad favorita es llenar sopas de letras, resolver sudoku y leer libros de ciencia ficción como Harry Potter.

I like trees because they help Mother Earth to breath. So many times we forget that they are vital to the world! I speak Spanish and English, and I’m learning French at school. I would like to at least speak four languages because then I’ll be able to talk with more people and travel to many faraway countries. My favorite activity is solving puzzles like alphabet soups and sudoku, and reading science fiction books such as Harry Potter.

- ¡Caramba, todo me sale mal!, se lamenta constantemente Uga, la tortuga. No era para menos: siempre llegaba tarde, era la última en acabar sus tareas, casi nunca conseguía premios a la rapidez y, para colmo, era una dormilona. —¡Esto tiene que cambiar! —se propuso un buen día, harta de que sus compañeros del bosque le reclaman su poco esfuerzo. Y es que había optado por no intentar siquiera actividades tan sencillas como amontonar hojitas secas, caídas de los árboles en otoño, o quitar piedrecitas del camino a la charca, donde chapoteaban los calurosos días de verano.

“Gosh, I can’t do anything right!” constantly whined Uga the turtle. It was no wonder: she was always late, last to finish her tasks, almost never awarded for speed, and, to top it off, kind of a sleepyhead. “This has to change!” she said one day, fed up with her forest friends’ hagging over her little effort. All because she had chosen not to even try such simple tasks as piling dry leaves, fallen from the trees in autumn, or removing pebbles from the way to the pond, where they used to splash on the hot summer days.

— ¿Para qué preocuparme en hacer un trabajo que luego acaban haciendo mis compañeros? Es mejor dedicarme a jugar y descansar —dijo en voz alta Uga. —No es una buena idea —dijo una hormiguita que pasaba por ahí—. Lo que verdaderamente cuenta no es terminar el trabajo en un tiempo récord; lo importante es hacerlo lo mejor que puedas. Así, siempre te quedará la recompensa de haberlo conseguido.

No todos los trabajos necesitan obreros rápidos — siguió la hormiguita—. Hay labores que requieren tiempo y esfuerzo. Si no lo intentas, nunca sabrás lo que eres capaz de hacer, y te quedarás con la duda de si lo hubieras logrado alguna vez. Por eso, es mejor intentarlo y no conseguirlo, que no probar y vivir con la duda. La constancia y la perseverancia son buenas aliadas para conseguir lo que nos proponemos; por eso yo te aconsejo que lo intentes. Hasta te puedes sorprender de lo que

eres capaz —concluyó su pequeña amiga.

perseverance are good allies in achieving what we propose; for

that reason, I advise you to try. It may even surprise you what you’re capable of,” concluded her little friend.

PINTURA RUPESTRE?

Do you have any idea of what a cave painting is? ¡Es la primera forma de arte que hizo el ser humano! ¿Puedes creerlo? Las pinturas rupestres fueron creadas en el periodo prehistórico, es decir, cuando los nómadas caminaban por la Tierra en busca de alimento. Son pinturas grabadas en las cuevas y, poco a poco, han sido encontradas. En ellas puedes ver animales, como búfalos y mamuts, y humanos con lanzas, listos para la caza. De esta manera nos dejaron parte de su historia.

It’s the first art form the human made! Can you believe it? Cave paintings were created in the prehistoric period, that is, when the nomads walked the Earth in search for food. They are paintings engraved in the caves and, little by little, the current people have found them. In them you can see animals, such as buffalos and mammoths, and humans with spears, ready for the hunt.
