South America A 5-member group led by Mrs. Tsering Choezom, Chief Astro-Science practitioner; along with two doctors Dr. Jamyang Dolma and Dr. Kelsang Dolma and two support staff Ms. Tsering Kyizom and Ms. Tenzin Khando visited Buenos Aires and Cordoba in Argentina, Bogota in Colombia, Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte in Brazil from 8 April to 18 May 2018. The visit was coordinated by Office of Tibet for Latin America, Sao Paulo and Brazil.

of the course: “Prevention and Treatment of Mental Disorders” was discussed from the tri-fold perspectives of Buddhist Psychology, Tibetan Medicine and Tibetan Astro-Science. This year, 11 participants attended the course. The resource persons were Geshe Lharampa Lobsang Dakpa, Buddhist Philosophy lecturer at Namgyal Monastery; Dr. Passang Wangdu, college lecturer; Geshe Tenpa Tashi; Tibetan Astro-Science Practitioner Tenzin Nyandak and Dr. Tenzin Choying from BML Dept. The lectures on Buddhist Psychology and Tibetan AstroScience were simultaneously translated by Mr. Kunkyab Pasang, BML Dept. 6th Emory-Tibet Medical Science Programme The 6th Emory-Tibet Medical Science programme (ETMS) was held successfully at Men-Tsee-Khang College from 18-29 June 2018. ETMS Programme is a collaborative and exchange programme between Emory University School of Medicine and Men-Tsee-Khang College, which started way back in 2013.
During the tour, series of lectures on Tibetan Medicine and Astro-Science, workshops on Tibetan massage therapy and one-year horoscope were carried out. Doctors and Astro-Science practitioner gave 274 health care services and 180 oral-astro consultations respectively. An exhibition showcasing pictorial charts and thangkas on Tibetan Medicine and Astro-Science were also displayed for the public. COURSE \ WORKSHOP 10-Day Mental Healthcare Service The Body, Mind and Life (BML) Department of MenTsee-Khang organized the 6th “10-Day Course on Mental Healthcare Service” from 12–21 June 2018. Four highly esteemed Professors from Emory Medicine School taught on ‘Nutrition and Metabolic Disorders’ held from 18-22 June, and ‘Anatomy and Physiology’ held from 25-29 June to over 60 Men-Tsee-Khang students. All the talks were translated into Tibetan by Dr. Pema Tsetso, Dr. Namdol Lhamo, Dr. Norchung and Dr. Pema Gyaltsen for the benefit of 10-12 students whose English Level is limited. From 19-22 June, ten students from the Emory University School of Medicine participated in Tibetan Medicine Study Programme. Three sessions on the proposed topics of Tibetan medicine: Introduction to Tibetan Medicine; Overview of Tibetan Pharmacology; and Mind and Body relationship in Tibetan Medicine, and the role of Tibetan Astro-Science in maintaining good health

were presented. In addition, the participants visited outpatient Clinics for clinical observation session, Quality Assurance Laboratory, Pharmacy and the Museum. Workshop on Observation of Practical Anatomy The second-year Medical Students of Men-TseeKhang College participated in the 5-day workshop on Observation of Practical Anatomy held at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda from 9-13 July 2018. Dr. Suman Yadav, Head of Anatomy Department gave practical Anatomy workshop covering the complete cadaveric regional anatomy sessions, radiology and embryology. The students were taken on a guided tour to the anatomy museum. In addition, 2nd year as well as 5th year medical students had the opportunity to observe the rich collection of diseased organs displayed in the museum of Pathology Department. Tibetan Medicine (Sowa-Rigpa) Course: Leh, Ladakh A short course on the Tibetan Medicine (Sowa-Rigpa) was organized by Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre, Ladakh on 12 July 2018 for six participants from Germany. Dr. Dekyi Dolma gave a glimpse on the development of Men-Tsee-Khang since its inception while Dr. Thinley Namgyal spoke on the basic concept of the Gyu-shi (Four Tantras). Health consultations were given to the group after the course. On 4 July 2018 Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre gave 1-Day course on an introduction of Tibetan Medicine at Men-Tsee-Khang Conference Hall, Ladakh. There were nine participants from Spain. Dr. Tenzin Thaye, one of the visiting physicians to H. H the Dalai Lama, lectures on Tibetan Medicine was translated into Spanish by Mr.

MEDICAL / AWARENESS CAMP LADAKH Leh Jokhang: Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre, hosted a 3-day medical camp under “Thank You India” campaign initiated by Central Tibetan Administration, from 8-10 May 2018. The medical camp was set up at Leh Jokhang during the Monlam Festival organized by the Gompa Association of Ladakh. Three doctors and six support staff of Men-Tsee-Khang clinics in Leh and Choglamsar carried out the medical camp. A total of 331 patients received free health consultations. T. R Settlement: Men-Tsee-Khang and Tibetan Primary Health Care Centre, Central Tibetan Administration, jointly organized Tuberculosis Eradication Programme from 25 May to 2 June 2018 to address the concerning issue of the spread of Tuberculosis. A team of two doctors and eight support staff covered 12 camps of the TR Sonamling settlement carrying out TB screening at each settlement. Besides TB screening, the doctors gave health talks on Hypertension, Nutrition, Arthritis and communicable diseases. The medical camp successfully screened around 200 people. Remote areas of Zanskar: Men-Tsee-Khang, Ladakh in collaboration with the Zanskar Royal Club organized a medical tour from 23-30 May 2018 under ‘Thank You India’ campaign initiated by Central Tibet Administration. The medical team toured Parkachik, Rangdum, Tashi Tongde, Padum, lungnak and Umla of Kargil District providing health care service to 709 patients.
Men-Tsee-Khang Culture Centre: Men-Tsee-Khang Culture Centre, Primary Health Care Centre and SOS Tibetan Children Village Hospital jointly held Substance Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Awareness from 22-28 June 2018 at Ladakh. Dr. Tenzin Thaye, one of the visiting physicians to H. H the Dalai Lama spoke on the ‘Three Humors’ (Three Principle Energies) followed by Dr. Thinley Namgyal and Dr. Dekyi Dolma.
June-July 2018 The department is established to publish, market, promote and distribute various literary resources on Tibetan Medicine and Astro-Science as well as books by and about H. H the Dalai Lama, and other publications. It mainly aims to make these resources available to the general public in English and other non-Tibetan languages.
DHARAMSALA Tsuglakhang Ground: A 2-day medical camp was hosted by Men-Tsee-Khang on 10 and 11 June 2018 following a 3-day teaching by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Shantideva’s “A Guide to the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life” for the Tibetan Youth and the general public at Tsuglakhang. 240 health consultations, 15 oral consultations and 14 acupuncture treatments were provided by the doctors and astro-science practitioner. Charity amounting to Rs. 11,425.40 was offered to poor and needy patients. Tibetan Settlement Office: A free medical camp was hosted on 7 July 2018 at Tibetan Settlement Office, Dharamsala. It was organized by Men-Tsee-Khang and Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association to mark the 83rd Birthday Celebration of H. H the 14th Dalai Lama. The team comprising of a doctor and six support staff provided 51 health consultations and charity amounting to Rs. 3,442.8 was given to poor and needy. LITHUANIA AND LATVIA Dr. Tsewang Tamdin, one of the visiting physicians to H. H the Dalai Lama visited Vilnius in Lithuania and Riga in Latvia during the teaching of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in two of the Baltic States from 13-18 June 2018. Dr. Tamdin shared advice on healthy diet and lifestyle and provided health care service to 71 patients. INAUGURATION OF MEN-TSEE-KHANG PUBLICATION DEPARTMENT, CHAUNTRA Men-Tsee-Khang Publication Department was inaugurated by the Health Kalon, Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk on 23 July 2018 at Chauntra. The other guests included Representatives from the Central Tibetan Administration and Non-Government institutes, and the media.
The Director, Chief Medical Officer, Head of Pharmacy Dept, 37 staff and students from Men-Tsee-Khang Dharamsala participated in the inaugural function. KUNPHEN REHABILITATION CENTRE A Workplace at Kunphen Rehabilitation Center is a part of PODASA (Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse) programme by Men-Tsee-Khang. It was initiated for the stage-3 inmates at the centre to utilize their time meaningfully by giving them work such as Reciting of Medicine Buddha Mantras, cleaning of raw materials, packagings, et cetera. It was inaugurated by the Health Kalon Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk on 23 July 2018 in the presence of Mr. Dawa Tsering, Director of Kunphen Rehabilitation Centre; Mr. Jampa Phuntsok, Joint Secretary of Health Department; the Director; Chief Medical Officer; Head of Pharmacy Dept. and 7 staff from Men-Tsee-Khang. The 9 inmates at the Centre also attended the inaugural function. PAD YATRA A group of Thailand monks, nuns and laymen successfully completed their month-long ‘Pad Yatra’ peace march from Dharamsala to Ladakh on 26 June 2018 at Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Ladakh. This is the third consecutive year of Peace March undertaken by them to spread the message of peace, love and communal harmony. rendered free health care services to 191 patients and charity amounting to Rs. 22,967.00 were dispensed. As a token of appreciation, the Thailand group donated Rs. 53,077.00 to Men-Tsee-Khang.

Above all, the encouragements we received and the experiences we gained, contributed to our initiating more world tours. Our subsequent tours to various places had also been a great success.
