“I sure loved reading your WIN newsletter. It was uplifting and I felt like you were talking straight to me and it helped me to see that I was not the only one feeling that way about fitting-in (or trying to be like non-Christians just to fit in). You may add me to your mailing list”. ~Laura “I am so pleased and I am so glad that the Spirit of God led me to pay close attention to your TV shows on Youtube! You are such a blessing! You pointed out one of my favorite Scriptures: 1 Peter 3:3-4. I am a believer that reading this Scripture is encouraging me daily on how God created me so beautifully. Also, the Spirit led me to watch your show that’s definitely encouraging those that are single, including myself. God is so awesome! I’ve enjoyed my alone time with our Father just by listening to what He’s speaking through to you to bless others. May God bless you continuously!! Love you!” ~Keshia

“Jesus promises that when we give, we will receive it back pressed down and overflowing. Plus it is simply more blessed to give than receive”. (Luke 6:38; Acts 2:35)
i, ladies! You are blessed and highly favored by the One True God! He is good and wastes nothing and is going to turn everything into your favor. This is his promise to those of us who love him. (Rom. 8:28) In this edition, I want to help you to have an excellent year. Therefore, I will be sharing with you tips to increase your self-esteem, your faith, and your health! I also want you to be abundantly blessed and to have your cup overflowing, which will happen when you give to those in need. Jesus promises that when we give, we will receive it back pressed down and overflowing. Plus it is simply more blessed to give than to receive. (Luke 6:38; Acts 20:35) This is one reason I have partnered with the Christian Haitian Leaders aka Missionary Ladies of the Church of Christ. This year they are going back to Haiti, an extremely impoverished nation. When you make a donation to Jesus’ Feet (my sister ministry) a huge part of the proceeds will be going to support their efforts there. (Please see the article on page 24). So, I encourage you, along with myself, to give so that God can bless you even more and fulfill your hearts desires. It is something we Christians have never regretted; giving to those in need. Love you! Genuinely,

A LOVELY SPIRIT/INNER BEAUTY 5 TIPS TO DEVELOPING DISCRETION “Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: to deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things.” (Prov. 2:11-14 KJV)
A
ccording to Webster’s dictio nary, discretion means the same as discreet, judicious, wary, using good judgement, being cautious, understanding, and using self control. Basically, discretion helps us to avoid embarrassing ourselves. If we find we need better judgment, we can pray and ask God to help us to be more judicious and he will. The following are general ways we can apply discretion to our lives:
Stay away from evil (Prov. 2:11) Dress modestly (1 Tim. 2:9-10) It is wise for us to take caution with whom we keep company. Yes, as godly women we are to help influence the world toward godliness and Christ. Yet we cannot do it effectively if those we hang around have more influence over us than we have over them. For instance, as I look back over my life I have noticed that almost every time I have stumbled and fallen in my Christian walk it was when I hung around people of the world. As godly women and Christians we want to make sure we do not develop a poor reputation. Yet this is possible if we linger too much around those who are worldly.
12
As a new convert, I had no clue how to properly dress as a Christian woman. I frequently wore tight dresses and tops that revealed my cleavage. Today, when I look back at older photos of myself I cringe. Yet now I know better thanks to the Holy Spirit of God revealing to me how a godly woman should dress. Not only does dressing modestly means refusing to dress sexy and showing our “private parts” it also means avoiding being flashy or glamorous. Doing so can be a stumbling block (especially to males) and push new believers and truth seekers away from the church (Titus 2:5).
Think before speaking (Prov. 15:28)
PLEASE HELP US HELP THEM
I cannot count how many times I put my foot in my mouth when I was younger. Yet today, I take my time to listen and am careful to not rush my words especially before I share my opinion. If we want to be wise (and we do) we will think before speaking, be slow to speak, speak only a little, and get the facts first.
Be slow to anger (Prov. 12:16) Impatience and being a Christian is not compatible and does not look good on a godly woman. The best way to be slow to anger is to seek understanding, be compassionate, and to believe the best about the other person(s). Doing otherwise usually leads to having a quick temper. In addition, properly taking care of ourselves, including eating right and getting our exercise, will help us to be long-suffering and slow to anger.
Jesus’ Feet is a sister ministry of The Godly Woman’s Guide founded by Christian author, Terri Temple.
Our current project in Haiti helping the poor.
Plan ahead (Prov. 14:15) Life is short and shorter than we realize. Therefore, God wants us to give thought to our steps, to be prepared, and to avoid wasting time. The parable of the Wise Virgins (Matthew 25) shows the importance (and the tragedy) of not waiting until the last minute to get things done. One of the simplest ways to plan ahead, and to get things done, is to keep a to-do-list. TGWG
The mission of Jesus’ Feet is to help feed and clothe desperate widows and children and the most needy around the world. We are able to do this with the help of godly women such as yourself. A RADIANT VESSEL/OUTER BEAUTY SUPPLEMENTAL BLESSINGS
T
aking supplements is good for our overall health. They can help to strengthen our hair, skin, and nails and they can help us carry ourselves in a more grace ful manner. For example, if I go too long without taking my multivitamins, my knees hurt and I have a hard time climbing the stairs. Yet we do not have to suffer unnecessarily and God does not want us to. So, it is wise for us to supplement our diet with vitamins and minerals, and herbs if needed, especially as we age or if we are under huge amounts of stress. Following are some good supplements that will help you look and feel your best: Multivitamins: Helps with overall vitality, strength, memory, organ function, etc. Vitamin D: Help breakdown cholesterol in the body. Especially good to take in the winter months when sun exposure is limited. Vitamin E: Very good for the skin and for keeping it supple. (Take internally or apply the oil directly to the skin). DHEA: A hormone that helps to keep stress levels down and energy levels up. Progesterone: A female hormone that helps to balance hormones and keep mood swings at bay. Also helpful for those in childbearing years who may have a hard time conceiving. CoQ10: Said to be especially good for strengthening the heart.
14
Hyaluronic Acid: Smooths and softens the skin helping to keep it free of wrinkles. Also good for the joints. Testosterone: I highly recommend that you give this to your spouse (your honeydo) if you are married to keep his energy levels up and to maintain his stamina. Collagen: Nourishes the hair, skin, and nails. Also good for the joints, tendons, and ligaments. Though I am a spiritual counselor, and not a health professional, I have done my research and I personally recommend taking the highest quality supplements available. They can usually be found at your local health food store or at stores such as the Whole Foods Market or on-line at Swansonvitamins.com. They may be expensive but they are worth it especially when they can help us avoid illness and costly medical expenses. Do not be one who experiences life the hard way. God has created many wonders in the world to help us live and age gracefully. This helps us to be a stronger vessel and a bigger blessing to our family, the church, and everywhere we go. TGWG

NATURAL/HERBAL GOD-GIVEN REMEDIES Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail....Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing. (Ezek. 47:12)
Olive Leaf
O
live leaf is the leaf of the olive tree (Olea europaea) It is aka olive, olive tree, and olivier. It is an astringent, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, antiseptic, antiviral, and immune booster, among others. It is native to Asia Minor and Syria and was first used in Ancient Egypt. Not too long ago, I was blessed to discover olive leaf. It has been reported to be beneficial for uses against arthritis, ear infection, herpes, sinusitis, respiratory conditions, lupus, malaria, mononucleosis, psoriasis, vaginitis, lowering blood pressure, stabilizing blood sugar, and clearing a sore throat, to name a few. I personally purchased it for a stomach ulcer yet found it very helpful in ridding myself of a sore throat. It worked almost instantly and helped me to fight the influenza virus. My husband works in a smoky environment and it helps him to keep his throat clear and from catching colds. One of the reasons it works so well to keep one from getting ill is because it helps to support or strengthen the immune system.
16
To help you get through the tough winter season, I strongly recommend you get a bottle of Barlean’s Olive Leaf Complex Throat Spray. It is pretty inexpensive considering the benefits and can be found at most health food stores. It is one investment, in your health, you won’t regret. TGWG
PLEASE NOTE: Do your own research on herbal medicines and check with your doctor before ceasing or beginning any prescribed or over-thecounter medications, especially if you have any type of health ailment. I am not a medical doctor but I prefer and utilize herbal medicines after taking care to research them. Also, some herbal medicines may cause the blood sugar level to drop or rise, so be careful with them, especially if you have diabetes or low blood sugar. As for those herbals that do cause changes in my blood sugar, I take them sparingly or with food.

MOMENT OF FAITH NOTHING WORKS WITHOUT GOD
L
ast year my husband and I took
a short vacation up into the mountains in Ely, Nevada, nearly three hundred miles away from our home. On our way back, I suggested my husband take a break and let me drive since we were headed straight to the church building for Bible study. We switched seats and headed home. While he napped in the back, I put the car in cruise control and made a comment to myself regarding how good the car was that I was driving. Suddenly the engine shut down and the car began to slow down! I tried to remain calm as I pushed the accelerator all the way to the floor, yet it would not speed up. It finally came to a crawl and I pulled it to the side of the road.
Immediately I woke my husband and gave him the spill. He pulled himself up, like the hero he was, and jumped into the drivers seat. He tried to ignite the engine several times but to no avail. So he evacuated the car and had me pop the hood. “There is not much we can do since the engine is mostly computerized,” my husband informed me. I shouted, “what, can’t we get a jump from someone?” He said, “no, it would not do any good”. I was dumbfounded and disappointed. I confirmed what he said, and he said the same thing, “there is nothing we can do”. I glanced at our vast surroundings. We were in the middle of the desert surrounded by nothing but mountains. The nearest store was thirty miles back and our home was almost fifty miles ahead. Being humbled, I thought to myself, “I guess this car isn’t so nice after all”.
18
Large semi’s zoomed past us as my husband tinkered under the hood. I glanced at the engine then looked at my husband and said out loud, “well the only way this car is going to start is if Jesus starts it!” My husband looked at me bewildered and smiled. However, I really meant what I had said. I was hoping God would start it because we were literally stranded in the middle of nowhere. Not only did our vehicle not work, neither did our cell phones. The screen read, “Out of range. No service provided”. So, we were stranded. I did not want to spend the night in the gloomy desert and I also dreaded the possibility of missing my Bible lesson. Anyway, with no other options, we hopped back into the vehicle. My husband was in the drivers seat and as he turned the key to start the engine, voila it started on the very first try! We could not believe it! We were ecstatic. He quickly put the engine in drive, and not looking back, we hurried home with huge grins on our faces. Praise the Lord, we made it safely to our city and I was on time for my Bible class. But God taught me a valuable lesson that day. It was loud and clear; nothing works, no matter how good we may believe it is, without God. I have to mention that earlier on our vacation I went to God in prayer and asked him to increase my faith because I felt it waning. Well one thing is for sure, he heard my prayer. The truck stopping and starting the way it did increased my faith and I’ll always remember, nothing works without God. TGWG
WOMEN OF THE BIBLE “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised”. (Prov. 31:10; 29-30)
M
otherhood is a painful privilege. Young Mary of Nazareth had the unique privilege of being mother to the very Son of God. Yet the pains and pleasure of her motherhood can be understood by mothers everywhere. Until Gabriel’s unexpected visit, Mary’s life was quite satisfactory. She had recently become engaged to a carpenter, Joseph, and was anticipating married life. But her life was about to change.
When he was eight days old Jesus was taken to the temple to be dedicated to God. There Joseph and Mary were met by two devout people, Simeon and Anna, who recognized the child as the Messiah and praised God. Simeon directed some words to Mary that must have come to her mind many times in the years that followed: “A sword will pierce your own soul” (Luke 2:35). A big part of her painful privilege of motherhood would be to see her son rejected and crucified by the people he came to save.
Many times we read Mary’s life story and think, “Wow! I wish I was like her. God could never use me as he did her”. Yet to do so would be a mistake. Mary, like many of us, was an ordinary woman who simply made herself available to be used by God. She was not a prophet nor did she speak in tongues. She was a homemaker who simply obeyed God. Through God’s Holy Spirit we receive at baptism, we too have been given the ability to obey (Acts 2:38).

LADIES ON A MISSION esus Feet, a sister ministry of The Godly Woman’s Guide, founded by Terri Temple, has partnered with Compassion Haitian Leaders aka Missionary Ladies of the Church of Christ operated by Sheryl Murrah, a member of the Sugar Creek Church of Christ in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our current project is to help fund their upcoming trip to Haiti, an impoverished nation.
J
In Haiti, our neighboring island right off the USA, many are suffering and dying daily. Some suffer from diseases that are curable and many have lost their lives due to inadequate supply of essential resources including money, food, and health care. Due to extreme poverty, greed, and corruption (and to natural disasters) Haiti is not normally a place one would want to take a vacation. Yet it is filled with people who have a big heart and who need our love and support. All praises to God, he has put it on the heart of our sister in Christ, Sheryl to embark there each year taking along with her food, clothing, and other essentials to survival. For nearly twenty years she has been traveling to Haiti for missionary work. She (and sometimes her team of lady missionaries) travel to remote villages that are normally abandoned by others due to dangerous road conditions. They visit orphanages, hospitals, prisons, and nearly thirty churches of Christ distributing food and clothing and Bible tracts. In addition, they give donated monies to church of Christ preachers to help them carry-out their daily functions.

Sheryl and Angel (r) Murrah. Sheryl is an excellent mother and role model for women. She has even taken her adopted daughter Angel along with her. Angel, says, “as far back as I can remember, my mom has been going to Haiti. When I was about three, I remember her being in the basement washing clothes and packing. For my sixteenth birthday I went to Haiti with her and my whole perceptive on life changed”. This year, as usual, Sheryl and her lady missionaries plan to head back to Haiti. Sheryl says, “My prayer is that this article touches your heart so that you will be willing to donate funds to assist us in paying the custom fees, so that we can ship the supplies that have been so generously donated, and to support our Missionary Ladies work as a whole”. THE TRULY GOOD LIFE GETTING YOUR CONFIDENCE FROM CHRIST “...Worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh”. (Phil. 3:3 KJV)
T
he world is constantly changing and its values are substandard, to say the least. Therefore, in order to live the truly good life we will need to get our confidence from Christ and not the world. Here are a few tips to help you build your confidence or self-worth in Jesus, so that you can be blessed and live the truly good life.
• Don’t value yourself by the worlds standards. The worlds values are money, pleasure, possessions, and position. All of which fades and fast. Yet God’s values are permanent and heaven based. • Trust and hope in what is lasting and eternal, not temporary. Realize loving temporal things is vain. • Accept that the work Jesus called you to do is very much needed and is highly regarded and honorable, according to God almighty. • Realize getting confidence and trust in self and the world is self-destructive and is meaningless or without value.
•
Focus on God and Jesus and His purpose for your life. This can be done by listening to and singing Christian songs, praying, attending church services, reading God’s Word daily and by helping and serving the needy in your community.
26
•
Never compare yourself to people of the world. It will only defeat you especially as you get older.
•
Limit worldly based media exposure such as television, magazines, videos, etc. They mainly help to discourage and dismantle our walk and progress with God.
•
Count your blessings, not your shortcomings. Confess and repent of your faults and trust God to help you change over time as you build your relationship with him.
•
Spend quality time alone with God. Ask him to help you get your worth from him alone. (Learn to do this successfully with my Spiritual Boot-Camp Package available on my web site at territemple.org). TGWG

POEMS AND POETRY FOR GODLY WOMEN “CHRIST, THE 3-IN-ONE OIL”
MIRROR, MIRROR (1 Corinthians 13)
Have no time to be bitterly blue, or dwell upon those things others have done or said to hurt you, although it wasn’t nice, for they did worst things to Christ.
People view the person That I have come to be. I wonder what they’re thinking. I wonder what they see.
Be strong in the Lord as you travel life’s complicated road; stay with the Lord and focus on Him while making Heaven your goal. Yes, He has better things ahead for you if in Him abide, our Lord Jesus Christ will always be by your side. So cheer up and keep pressing on bless your soul. Remember, “Vengeance is mine”, says the Lord. Please don’t hold malice within your heart or entertain that which is dark.
The person I’m reflecting I no longer can deny. I’m like a shiny mirror, And a mirror cannot lie. Do people see a Christian With a warm delightful smile, Who values her integrity More than her form or style? Do people see a Christian Who’s as humble as a dove? Do I have eternal faith, Enduring hope, and love? I can see my Maker Only dimly in a mirror. Yet, someday face-to-face I shall see my Savior clearer.
Rejoiced be exceedingly glad, for Christ is the BEST thing you could have ever had.
So mirror mirror, on the wall Reflect God’s wondrous grace. Reflect His love to one and all Forever on my face.
