INSPIRING PROVERBS AND QUOTES The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.c The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever. (PSALM 145:8-21 NIV)

A LOVELY SPIRIT/INNER BEAUTY “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s”. (1 Cor. 6:20)
USING YOUR LIFE TO HONOR GOD
H
onor means the same as admire, adore, credit, glorify, respect, re vere, worship, praise. According to the noted scripture, we Christians are instructed by the apostle Paul to honor God with our bodies and our lives. We’ve all seen outer beauty: Long flowing locks, a glistening smile, and glowing skin. And we are mandated by the Lord to take care of ourselves. (1 Cor. 3:16) However, God wants us to be even more concerned with our inner spirit or inner beauty (1 Peter 3:3-4) and when we do this our lives will honor him. But some of us are not certain how to live our lives in honor to God. Thus, here are a few ways in which we can make it a reality:
Be Christ-like. Jesus was compassionate, devoted to God, faithful, kind, loving, peaceful, nonviolent, caring and had a servant attitude. Yet sadly even the church is full of self-serving persons. But to honor God our lives need to imitate Christ and not the world. (Jn. 8:35; Rom. 8:29; 1 Pt. 2:21)
Use your gifts and talents to build up the church. God gave us gifts to make a living but also to use in service of the church. (Matt. 25:14-30; Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12:27-31) We can use our God-given gifts teaching, speaking, singing, organizing, practicing hospitality, and volunteering our services, etc. When we do these things, God is honored.
12
Possess a gentle and quiet spirit. Having a gentle and quiet spirit honors God and is a result of trusting in him and relying upon his promises. (2 Cor. 1:20; 1 Pt. 3:4, 2:23) Without trusting in God it is impossible to honor him. Yet when we trust in him it makes it easier for us to walk in the spirit (Gal. 5:22-24) which produces a gentle and quiet nature sans anxiety and fear. Help the fatherless, widows, poor, and needy. God loves the world (Jn.3:16). Therefore, we honor him when we actively love others by helping and serving those in need. In essence we become God’s hands and Jesus’ feet to a hurting world. (Jn. 15:5). We do well to help those in need especially those in our family, congregation, and community. Then those around the world in other cities and nations. (Prov. 14:31; Gal. 6:10; Jas. 1:27)
Be a godly homemaker. As a young mother and wife I did not know how to be a godly homemaker. I went clubbing and hung out with my friends all the time. So I know it is tempting to run the streets and to hang out with friends. Yet it leaves our homes weak and vulnerable to Satan’s attacks. However, as Christians and godly women we are called to build up, as opposed to tear down, our homes. (Prov. 14:1) We can do this by staying sober and staying home, teaching what is good and right, speaking blessings not curses over our children, actively loving our families including our husbands, being self-controlled, kind, pure, and being busy at our own homes and in our own business, and by being submissive to our own husbands. By doing these things we will be a blessing to our families and bring honor to God. Otherwise the Word of God (and Christianity) may be looked down upon. (Tit. 2:3-5)
Be a peacemaker. Being presumptuous and a troublemaker or one who always has to be right and has to have the last word only leads to dishonor of God, mankind, and self. Therefore, the Word of God calls us to be peacemakers and submissive (or cooperative) toward one another. (Eph. 5:21-23)
Spread the gospel. We not only help save souls when we spread the gospel we glorify God and exalt Christ. We also exude a loving spirit (God’s Holy Spirit) when we help share God’s love with the world. (Prov. 11:30; Matt. 28:18-20; Rom. 10:15) Not much causes a woman to manifest a lovely spirit and inner beauty more than one who uses her life to honor God. It is also what makes life meaningful and worth living. In addition, when we honor God with our lives he causes others to honor us. TGWG

HEALTHY HABITS OF HEALTHY WOMEN
C
hristian or not we all want to look our best and be full of energy. Yet that is easier said than done. Especially today when the “experts” keep changing their minds on what’s healthy and what’s not healthy. For instance, I recently read an article in a top magazine that said exercise had no impact on weight loss. What! I could not believe how far mankind would go to tell people what they want to hear. I know first hand, and so do real health pros, that exercise does indeed impact weight loss efforts and always will. I know we do not like to hear that we need to exercise and eat right but we do if we want to live not only long but healthy lives.

It is okay to eat what we want once a week. After that we should eat healthy the rest of the week.

NATURAL/HERBAL GOD-GIVEN REMEDIES Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail....Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing. (Ezek. 47:12)
CINNAMON
C
innamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees. It is also known as cassia, which is not true cinnamon but a related spice to distinguish them from true cinnamon. Medically it can be used as an astringent, stomachic, antioxidant, stimulant, antifungal, antibacterial, and antiparasitic, to name a few . It is used to treat indigestion, arthritis, diabetes, cold, flu, urinary tract infection, yeast infection, and more. I love cinnamon. I occasionally sprinkle it on my food to keep my blood sugar levels balanced since diabetes run in my family. But I had no idea cinnamon could also be used to help with indigestion. For instance, several months ago I had terrible indigestion. So bad I almost made a doctors appointment. My stomach would barely digest even simple foods like fruits and vegetables. After suffering for a few long weeks I read something on-line that suggested taking cinnamon. I did not want to take the powdered version and I recalled having some hard cinnamon candy in my purse. I quickly grabbed a piece and sucked on it. Instantly my stomach began to roar like a roller coaster. In less than an hour I felt so much better. The very next morning all of my stomach woes had disappeared. I could not believe it! Because I am deeply devoted to using herbs, I was kind of upset that I had suffered so long (about 6 weeks) when the remedy was right in front of me! But this is what happens to us when we rely on mankind’s remedies instead of the God-given ones he gave us in the beginning of time.
16
However, we must be careful to use them in moderation as they can lead to health problems, if not taken as directed. In general, herbal medicines (spices included) should be used for two weeks at a time. Then they should be discontinued for at least one week and resumed if needed. The general dose is up to 1 teaspoon 2 to 3 times a day. If possible, it is best to make an appointment with a herbalist or natural doctor who specializes in herbal medicine. References: Back to Eden, herbwisdom.com, and Wikipedia. PLEASE NOTE: Do your own research on herbal medicines and check with your doctor before ceasing or beginning any prescribed or over-the-counter medications, especially if you have any type of health ailment. I am not a medical doctor but I prefer and utilize herbal medicines after taking care to research them. Also, some herbal medicines may cause blood sugar levels to drop or rise, so be careful with them, especially if you have diabetes or low blood sugar. As for those herbals that do cause changes in my blood sugar, I take them sparingly or with food.

MOMENT OF FAITH I DON’T CARE! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”. (1 Peter 5:7 KJV)
I
remember a few years ago when I was having a very hard time with my son. He was a teen at the time and was making many poor choices. Along with my husband, we sought professional help for him and we prayed diligently for him. Yet for some reason the problem lingered. At the time, I was heavily burdened and the stress was killing me, or so it felt. Being overwhelmed, I vividly recall going into my room, shutting the door behind me, and plopping on my bed. While doing this I shouted out loud, I don’t care! I don’t care what happens to him. I could not care less! Suddenly I felt relieved as if a thousand pounds lifted off of me. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow! I feel so much better! Is that all I had to do was to say, I don’t care?” And the answer was yes! Of course overall I love my son and care what happens to him. Yet during that time it was a huge burden dealing with him and only God could help at that point. So me shouting, I don’t care, helped me to turn it over to him. And that is exactly what God wanted. He knew I and my husband could not fix the situation nor change my son, so we were wise to let it go and to hand it over to him. Therefore, saying I don’t care, yet at the right time, can be the best thing for our overwhelming situations. This is good because the devil wants us to get our feathers ruffled, so to speak, so we can doubt God and lose our faith. But he can’t if we choose to cast our burden and say out loud, I don’t care!
18
This is also one reason Jesus says to place our treasures in heaven (Matt. 6:20) because they are untouchable there and he knows that Satan can only harm us with things we care or worry too much about. So ladies, if something or someone is being a burden to you and is causing you grief or huge amounts of stress, turn it over to God and shout out loud, I don’t care! If you are unable to do that, ask God to help you to trust in him and to give you the courage, wisdom, desire, and strength to turn it over to him, and he will. For more on this topic, you are invited to watch my lesson from my television show on my Youtube channel, 7 Ways to Let God Fight Your Battles. TGWG
WOMEN OF THE BIBLE “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised”. (Prov. 31:10; 29-30)
LYDIA
L
ydia was wealthy due to the fact that she was a dealer in fine purple linen and she was most likely single, since no husband is mentioned. More importantly though was the fact that she was a spiritual searcher or one who sought God wholeheartedly. She was one of the women who gathered outside Philippi on each Sabbath to pray to God. Her attendance at the prayers demonstrated her willingness to respond to as much about God as she knew. God responded to her quest by providing her with more truth. When she heard the gospel message about Jesus she listened and believed. She is recorded in the Bible as Paul’s first European convert. Lydia’s response to the gospel message was both outward and inward and she understood that her new faith created all kinds of opportunities for practical application in her life.
First, she obeyed the gospel and was baptized. Second, she brought the rest of her family members along and encouraged them to obey as well. She is therefore a good example for us to follow as Christians and godly women. Thinking of Lydia, to what degree has your life continued to display that gratefulness you felt when you first believed and were baptized? TGWG

SPIRITUAL LIFE
How to Hear From God “But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you”. (John 14:26)
S
ometimes we must make decisions that are not specific to Scripture. For example we may want to know should we take this or that job, should we marry a particular person, etc. Therefore, we need to also be able to hear from God via his Holy Spirit or that small quiet whisper in our hearts. Here is some godly advice on how to know for sure that you will hear from God when difficult decisions arrive:
•
Have right motives (Hebrews 5:7, James 4:3) Sometimes our motives for things we want may not be pure or not best for us or God’s kingdom. In those instances Father will reply with a negative. So make sure your requests lines up with God’s good and perfect will (1 John 5:14). This will happen when our motives are pure.
• Wait (Psalm 41:10) We don’t like to be rushed and neither does Father. So waiting to hear from God can be a trial within itself. But we need to wait upon him believing he will answer at the perfect time or in due time. A good way to (patiently) wait is to keep active doing good deeds and to sing songs of praise to him. •
Continue to pray (1 Thess. 5:17) Don’t give up praying to Father. Ask until your request has come to fruition or until you gain better insight into your request.
20
•
Be still (Psalm 41:10) In America and other parts of the world, many of us are so very busy it’s unbelievable. But to hear from Father we need to be still (unmoving, at rest, subdued). We benefit greatly when we plan time, at least a few hours a week, being still and listening to God. (My article in my book, 31 Days to a New You in Christ that was featured in a previous edition of this magazine explains how to do this in detail). Keep in mind that God may have already provided the answer you’re seeking. Yet when we are rushing about and on a tight schedule we may have missed the answer in the chaos. So it is imperative that we be still and quiet.
•
Study God’s Word (2 Tim 2:15) One way to know if our prayer requests line up with God’s will is by thorough and careful study of his Word. It does not cease to amaze me that many see the need to get an education and study text books so that they can pass their examinations to get into college. Yet many do not see the need to read and study the Bible and in its entirety to get into heaven. No other book can replace the Bible or God’s infallible Word. To be able to please Father we first need to be able to know Father and what his Word teaches and to be able to discern evil from good. We can only do this by thorough study of his Word.

www.TheGodlyWomansGuide.org •
Be faithful. (Prov 28:9, John 8:47, 1 Peter 3:7) Many people walk in sin or sin on a regular basis yet still believe God is listening to their prayers. Yes, God always hears us but the prayers he will respond to with a positive are of those individuals who are consistently loyal and faithful but not necessarily flawless. Father is always listening but not happy with those of us who are unfaithful (or those who are walking in the flesh as opposed to the spirit) and he will only answer yes to prayer requests that include repentance and that places the individual back in right standing with him. (See also Psalm 35:17)
•
Give thanks. (1 Thess. 5:18) Be sure to thank Father for answering your prayer even before it comes to pass. Many church members do not do this. Yet in First Thessalonians 5:18 it reads “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Also giving thanks in advance shows we believe and have faith in Father God. (Luke 11:24) Always remember that God loves us all and hears and knows what is going on everywhere good or bad. (Prov 15:3, 2 Cor 5:10, John 3:16) And he always answers us be it no, yes, or wait. When we do these things we can be sure that Father not only will hear our prayers but answer in due time. TGWG

MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE Award Winning Gospel Music Recording Artist
Tiffany Malone
T
iffany Malone is a very busy woman in the Lord, to say the least. I first caught up with her as she was heading to perform at an event in West Virginia. Speaking to her I can say, besides her being a gifted vocalist, she is a sweet person and a beautiful godly woman. She is also a faithful member of the Southside church of Christ in Rogersville, Alabama and a lover of gospel music. A child of a minister, Tiffany grew up in the church in Greensboro, North Carolina at the South English Street church of Christ (now the Sharpe Road church of Christ), where she was baptized at an early age. Tiffany has been married for almost 16 years to Jerome Malone. They have been blessed with a daughter, Janaya Malone (14 years old), affectionately called “Peety” and a son, Jerome, Jr. (9 years old), nicknamed “Juney”. Her husband, Jerome is a deacon, a Bible class teacher, preacher and a ministry leader. The two share a very active ministry serving through song in several groups including the Southside Singers,
Committed Acapella chorus, as well as having their own solo ministries. In addition to her personal participation in music ministry, she also has a vision and passion to give back to the next generation. She and her husband Jerome are among the founders of the National Youth Vocal Ministry Camp, an annual camp held in Florence, Alabama each year designed to teach, train, and equip the youth and young adults in art, ministry, and skill of acapella music.
I (personally) first discovered Tiffany’s music while surfing the Internet. I instantly fell in love with her popular record, I Won’t Let Nothing Turn Me Around. It is such a soul stirring song! It not only touches the heart yet because its lyrics are true to the Word it helps to confirm one’s faith in the Lord. Sometimes I find myself humming it around my house and every time I share it on social media it never fails to get a whole lot of thumbs up. It’s no wonder, Tiffany has been the recipient of multiple CAMA (Christian Acapella Music Awards) over the years, and has utilized her vocal talent to be a blessing to countless groups and projects. She will be performing on Saturday, August 13, at the 2016 Godly Woman’s Conference being held at the Bright Angel church of Christ in Las Vegas, Nevada. Entry is free and so is the food. No doubt it will be a performance that you do not want to miss! TGWG Photos clockwise: Tiffany, with her husband Jerome, Tiffany singing, and when she was four years old.
