“Terri, my name is SGT Melissa Esparza-Mathis, and I am a Soldier in the United States Army currently deployed to Afghanistan. I cannot express to you how important your web site is to myself and my sisters I am deployed with. We enjoy your vision not only for ourselves but of women around the world. Your verses from the Bible continue to lift us up as women, as mothers, as wives, and as soldiers banding together. If you could please continue to keep us and women around the world in your daily prayers, we would much appreciate it. With the Grace the Lord has provided us with, the abundant amount of love and guidance, we seek fulfillment and rejoice in the Lord. Blessed be your day.”— SGT Esparza-Mathis

“Hallelujah! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you starting this newsletter and web site. We just don’t have anything like it in the brotherhood and I myself could use the encouragement. I’m teaching the Ladies Class on Wednesday nights and leading a women’s Bible study group each week and I believe we all will enjoy what you have to say to us each month. Thanks again,”—Lori. I was born into deep poverty, as I’ve mentioned before, and was also abused and neglected while growing up. However, God rescued me when I was seventeen years old by sending me a godly man whom I married. But for many of the children who live in Kenya, they aren’t so blessed. Their dreams and desires, unlike most of ours, are simply wondering where their next meal will come from.
EDITOR’S PAGE
I
t’s hard to believe the end of the year is closing in upon us once again. I don’t know about you but it appears that time seems to fly by the older I get. Speaking of getting older, it seems one day I have it all together spiritually then the next, bam! And I am like, what happ e n e d — I thought I was stronger than that! But I have to remind myself and do on occasion (we all do well to do the same) that stumbling and falling is a part of being human.
As part of The Godly Woman’s Guide women’s ministry, I launched our sister ministry Jesus’ Feet a few months ago. Our first project is taking place in Kenya, Africa in a town called Eldoret. In that city is a district named the North Rift which is a slum where the citizens live far below the poverty line. And many, mostly orphaned children, die of starvation, and they desperately need our help. Last July, I sent a package of supplies to the North Rift ministries director for the widows in that district to be able to make dresses. The dresses or tunics are gorgeous and I plan to put them on our web site to raise funds to continue to help the orphans and widows in Kenya. However, I need donations and partners to help me keep this project going and I invite you to participate with me in this noble deed. You may read more about it on our web site or on page 27.
As many of you know, those of you who watch my television show, each day and night I use journals to record my prayers and spiritual progress. Doing so helps to keep me spiritually minded and it is very encouraging and motivating for me to see how far I’ve come. This is good for us to do so that we won’t easily become discouraged in our Christian walk.
Before I go, please let me know if you have any prayer requests or are in need of biblical advice. For those who do not know I offer free (donation supported) Bible-based counseling to women in need. All information shared is held in strict confidence. My contact information is on my web site at www.thegodlywomansguide.org.
Therefore, if you, like me, realize you have yet to reach perfection and probably never will, remember that God is love and loves you and simply wants and seeks the best for you. This is why he sent Jesus to die on the cross for us because he knows we will be mature and complete in him when we continue to follow his Son. But he also knows that we will never be totally free from sin because of our fallen nature. Yes, we will falter and stumble but God promises to help us up if we let him. (Please see Phil. 2:13; Ps. 34:7-8). So, we do well to grin and bear it when we falter but also to hold our chin up and keep on keeping on with the Lord!
May God our holy Father in heaven continue to bless you so that you may always be a blessing wherever you go. Genuinely,
Terri Temple The Godly Woman’s Guide

INSPIRING PROVERBS AND QUOTES All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the [wo]man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. ~2 Tim. 3:16-17 NKJV
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. will praise you with songs of joy. I lie awake thinking of you, on you through the night. Because you are my helper, sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; strong right hand holds me securely. ~Psalm. 63:1-8 NLT

A LOVELY SPIRIT/INNER BEAUTY
HOW TO LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp-stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. ~Matt. 5:14–16 NKJV

our lights to shine brightly on all with whom we cross paths.
It is human nature and natural to want to be attractive. However, as godly women our most important and vital goal should be that of acquiring and maintaining internal beauty—beauty that others notice instantly, simply by our inner “light” shining through.
Realizing that God loves us and forgives us (Jn. 3:16) no matter how bad we’ve been and that he’ll turn all bad in our lives into our good (Rom. 8:28) should be reason n

Some blessings to ponder are comfort from God’s Word, wisdom and strength for the day, the church, job, gifts, talents, transportation, money for lunch, shelter, safety, a family member’s health renewed, a pet, and guidance or insight from God.

HOLY HUMOR A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. ~Prov. 17:22 9. If that really was the can opener, I’ll play finicky just to let THEM know who’s boss! 10. Would humans have built a vast and complex civilization of their own if we cats hadn’t given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the first place?
CONFUSING TRAFFIC SIGNS A cop pulls over a carload of elderly women. Cop: Ma’am, this is a 65 MPH highway — why are you going so slow? TEN THINGS CATS THINK ABOUT 1. I could have sworn I heard the can opener. 2. Is there something I’m not getting when humans make noise with their mouths? 3. Why doesn’t the government do something about dogs? 4. I wonder if Morris really liked 9-Lives, or did he have ULTERIOR motives? 5. Hmmm ... If dogs serve humans, and humans serve cats, why can’t we cats ever get these STUPID dogs to do anything for us? 6. This looks like a good spot for a nap. 7. Hey — no kidding, I’m sure that’s the can opener. 8. If there’s a God, how can He allow neutering?
Driver: Sir, I saw a lot of signs that said 22, not 65. Cop: “Oh, that’s not the speed limit, that’s the name of the highway you’re on!” Driver: Oh! Silly me! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll be more careful. At this point the cop looks in the backseat where the other women are shaking and trembling. Cop: Excuse me, ma’am, what’s wrong with your friends back there? They’re shaking something terrible. Driver: Oh, we just got off of highway 119.

GENERAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN
EATING OUT: When the check comes, Mike, Phil, Rob and Jack will each throw in $20 bills, even though it’s only for $22.50. None of them will have anything smaller, and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their check, out comes the
calculators.
BATHROOMS: A man has six items in his bathroom-a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, a bar of Dial soap, and a towel from the Holiday Inn. The average number of items in the typical woman’s bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items. GROCERIES: A woman makes a list of things she needs and then goes out to the store and buys these things. A man waits till the only items left in his fridge are half a lime and a soda. Then he goes grocery shopping. He buys everything that looks good. By the time a man reaches the checkout counter, his cart is packed tighter than the Clampett’s car on Beverly Hillbillies. Of course, this will not stop him from going to the 10-items-or-less lane. SHOES: When preparing for work, a woman will put on a Mondi wool suit, then slip on Reebok sneakers. She will carry her dress shoes in a plastic bag from Saks. When a woman gets to work, she
will put on her dress shoes. Five minutes later, she will kick them off because her feet are under the desk. A man will wear the same pair of shoes all day.
DRESSING UP: A woman will dress up to: go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, get the mail. A man will dress up for: weddings, funerals.
LAUNDRY: Women do laundry every couple of days. A man will wear every article of clothing he owns, including his surgical pants that were hip about eight years ago, before he will do his laundry. When he is finally out of clothes, he will wear a dirty sweatshirt inside out, rent a U-Haul and take his mountain of clothes to the Laundromat. Men always expect to meet beautiful women at the Laundromat. This is a myth perpetuated by re-runs of old episodes of “Love, American Style.” OFFSPRING: Ah, children! A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and soccer games and romances and best friends and favorite foods and secret fears and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house. TGWG

FOUNDATION 101
T
oday there are many different types of foundations on the mar ket. Choosing the right one can make a huge difference between looking radiant and shining or drab and gloomy. Here is a list of a few of them to help you choose your coverage:
• Liquid foundation—They just melt onto the skin and blend beautifully. The right one will mimic your skin’s natural texture while smoothing out any unevenness, boosting your overall appearance.
• Mineral Powder—Excellent for light to medium coverage that leaves skin with a soft glow.
• Powder foundation—Best for a deep
• Tinted moisturizer—A good choice
coverage. Perfect for those with oily skin.
for women who want the faintest hint of coverage plus a hydrating supplement for suppleness. Most tinted moisturizers also contain sunscreen, giving them a triple threat of benefits.
• BB Cream—These type of foundations supply a very light to medium coverage. They usually contain sunscreen which is a plus but they may cause breakouts in acne prone or sensitive skin types. TGWG
• Spray foundation—Ideal for women who need a bit heavier and longerwearing coverage.
• Cream foundation—Best for women —Portions excerpted from The Godly with very dry skin; this formulation is a bit too heavy for other skin types.

NATURAL/HERBAL GOD-GIVEN REMEDIES
Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. ... Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing. ~Ezek. 47:12
N
ot too long ago I had to go to the ER for stomach pain. I am grateful to God that the medical staff there was able to quickly help me to get rid of the pain. But, overall I was disappointed with my visit. The reason being is that the staff ran various tests on me and drew some blood. However, after all the poking and pain they sent me home with this report: No diagnosis. I am sure this has happened to many of us. This is one reason why God has blessed us with herbal medicines. After thousands of years they (mainstream doctors) still have no clue to common diseases that ail mankind. All praises to God, I finally figured out what was the cause of my stomachache that day and the doctors at the hospital should have been able to figure it out as well but did not. It is really sad to me that in this day and age Satan still has the upper hand in the medical field. But thanks be to our holy Father in heaven we are not at their mercy. The key to maintaining our health, and to avoid having to go to the ER, is to eat right, exercise on a consistent basis, maintain a healthy weight, and to not wait until we are sick with diabetes or high blood pressure or any other major health ailment to begin to take better care of ourselves. When we learn the hard way, we are almost guaranteed to face a major illness that we will most
likely have to manage and suffer with the remainder of our lives; and this takes the fun out of life. I want to save you from this and so does God. This is why he tells us in His word to take care of our bodies, his temple. We live long, and more importantly, healthy lives when we heed his Word. Below, you will find God-given cures, without any harmful side effects, to common ailments that plague us. They work for me and my family and I use them all of the time. They are basic herbals that we all do well to have in our medicine cabinet: n
Cinnamon For cramps and to lower blood sugar. n
Golden seal For stomachaches and ailments.

hen I first became a Christian, I was very spiritually weak and my emo tions frequently went up and down like a rollercoaster causing trouble in my life and in my relationships with others. But when I finally got what being a Christian was all about, and learned how to commit my life to God, I started reading God’s Word more intently and using it to help me become and stay spiritually and emotionally balanced.
Aloe Vera gel and juice
Gel for sunburns, and juice for heartburn, GERD, and other stomach ailments. n

One thing I did was to jot down thoughts from the Bible and then to summarize them in a journal. I then would read and recite them daily to help me stay balanced mentally. Not too much later, and since I am a Christian writer, God put it on my heart to write a book with these same words of affirmation in them that have dramatically changed my life for the better. Because of this, today I am a godly woman and a devout Christian wholeheartedly devoted to God.

PLEASE NOTE: Do your own research on herbal medicines and check with your doctor before ceasing or beginning any prescribed or over-the-counter medications, especially if you have any type of health ailment. I am not a medical doctor but I prefer, and utilize herbal medicines after taking care to research them. Also, some herbal medicines may cause the blood sugar level to drop so be careful with them, especially if you have diabetes or low blood sugar. As for those herbals that do cause my blood sugar to drop, I take them sparingly or with food. TGWG

WOMEN OF THE BIBLE Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. ~Prov. 31:10; 29-30

W
ise leaders are rare. Deborah was such a leader and history maker. She accomplished great amounts of work because she knew how to delegate. She was also able to see the big picture, and understand from God’s perspective. Therefore, she was good at mediating, mentoring, and planning. Deborah had excellent leadership skills and she had a remarkable relationship with God. The insight and confidence God gave her placed her in a unique position in the time of the Judges. Deborah’s story shows that she was not greedy or hungry for power. Her main desire was to please God. Whenever she was praised she gave the glory to God. She understood her place, during her time, as a woman and a wife and she also did not allow it to hinder her work for the Lord. Her story shows that God can work great things through those of us who make ourselves available to Him. Her life story also challenges us in various ways. We are reminded that we need to be accessible not only to God but to others. She encourages us to focus on what we can do, not what we are unable to do. Her life shows us what we can accomplish when we allow God to be in control of our destinies. STRENGTHS, ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND LESSONS FROM HER LIFE

MOMENT OF FAITH HONORED TO BE PERSECUTED “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matt. 5:11-12 NIV).
A
s godly women who are faithful and who glorify God in our daily lives, at times we will be persecuted—mistreated, victimized, wronged—because of our love (obedience, sacrifice) for Christ. Because of our testimony or tribute to Jesus, people will hate us or be jealous of us and may reject or slander our names just as they did Christ and the prophets, including Jeremiah and Ezekiel. When these negative events happen to us we should rejoice and not be saddened, as commanded by our Lord. But this is much easier said than done. Right? I remember not too long ago someone (actually it was more than one person) refused to speak to me and chose to avoid me because of my taking a stand for the truth. At first this confused me and kind of hurt my feelings, mainly because I believed they had held to the same truths. Oh, boy, was I wrong! After praying hard about the situation to Father and continuing in his Word, I soon became elated over the matter and did not let the situation bother me any longer. Jesus says for us to rejoice and be glad (ecstatic, happy, cheerful) when we are persecuted. But many of us, as I did, have trouble obeying the Lord’s words regarding this. We walk around heartbroken or as if the world has come to an end (which for Christians would not necessarily be a bad thing!).
Today when someone mistreats me for righteousness’ sake, I feel honored and I force myself to literally shout “yoo-hoo” out loud or in my heart—believing and having faith in Jesus’ words that I have overcome Satan and will be rewarded for it! The lesson was not an easy one to learn; and I am still partially flesh and blood and therefore still struggle with persecution and rejection from time to time. Who doesn’t? Nevertheless, I made a promise to myself that I would not allow Satan to continually steal my joy because I choose to live for Jesus! We as godly women and Christians will benefit enormously when we react this way to persecution, exactly as Jesus said. In summary, Jesus was God in the flesh and was always right and he meant every word he said, and some he meant literally (as in the focus scripture), not metaphorically. Therefore, realize today that those very words and instructions by Jesus to ”rejoice and be glad” will not benefit us, as they were intended to, if we don’t literally apply them!
24
So, if you find yourself feeling down about being persecuted for doing or saying the right thing, refuse to walk around with your head down, kicking dirt. Rejoice and be glad just as Jesus commanded! Celebrate and have fun—give yourself a high-five, buy yourself something, or go out to dinner, especially if you have prevailed over a major dilemma. Like Christ said, be glad and rejoice (and be flattered and grateful to God) because great is your reward in heaven! Ladies, the next time someone mistreats you, avoids shaking your hand, or refuses to speak to you for righteousness’ sake, smile and immediately realize that it’s for a good cause. TGWG

We need to teach this lesson because mainly it is not good for the babies born to unwed mothers, who usually suffer unnecessarily. Also, teen parents are too young and not skilled to be parents and we should not expect them to be able to be. Overall, every child deservesa mother and a father. So here are a few tips to help reduce this problem in the church. Please feel free to share this article at your congregation. n
First, we all do well to pray about this matter and ask God for wisdom and guidance in the lives of our young people. n
The parents, even in a single parent house-hold, need to have a close and faithful relationship with God and the child needs to be highly aware of this. Also, the parent should encourage the child to do the same. n
Become and stay involved. Volunteer to help with activities in your community that helps the less fortunate. I.e. visit nursing homes, shelters, and missions. Take your child with you each time. By doing this the child is exposed to the difficulties and realities of life. n
Help the child to find and choose godly friends: preferably other church members. n
Enroll and keep the child into programs that build up their self-esteem but not activities that will take them away from being able to please the Lord such as from worship service or Bible classes.
n
Don’t fall for guilty parenting. If one was a teen parent out of wed-lock or was not raised in the church do not fall for the myth that you cannot “force” your children to attend Bible classes and worship service with you. Attend services regularly and take them along with you. Know you are doing the right thing and the best thing.

n
Make sure the child knows he/she is loved not only in word but in deed.

n
Never compare your child with others and don’t play favorites. This really damages children’s self-esteem.
Teach them, in writing, what it really costs to raise a child.
n
Never give up on your child.
n
Remember, this problem most likely will not be fixed overnight, so we have to be patient with the process.
Make sure your children know God loves them and has a good and perfect plan for their lives. n
Lastly, if one’s child has all ready given birth to a child, love them both but do not enable them or make it comfortable for them to be able to repeat the cycle. In general, refuse to babysit unless in emergency situations. Only when the person feels the huge responsibility of child rearing, will they feel the need to cease repeating the cycle.
n
Discover your child’s God-given gifts and talents and share it with them. This is an excellent way to increase their self-esteem. n
Do not give your child birth-control methods to follow. This encourages, not always but to some degree, premarital sex and it is not wise to assume the child wants to engage in sexual relations before marriage. Our children are not us.
By the way, I was raised in a single parent household and not a virgin when I married mainly because I was not taught better, had very little direction in life and was not raised in church.
n
Set high standards and expect the best from your child.
Now as a mature Christian and Bible-based counselor, I know why many young women and men engage in premarital sex. Some of the reasons are, generally speaking: they need more education on the matter, need more direction in their lives, and they need more godly role models. Please remember to share this article with others. This list is not all inclusive. TGWG
n
Let your child know they have options. Let them know regardless of what others say, they can keep their virginity as long as they desire and should feel proud of it. n
Teach them about the human anatomy of males and females. n
Encourage them to seek a higher education.

THE TRULY GOOD LIFE 6 WAYS TO WIN AGAINST SATAN’S ATTACKS 1. Study, obey, and have faith in God’s Word (the Sword) so it will be sharp and ready for attacks from the devil or evil one (s). Use it (God’s Word) as needed. 2. Stay busy spreading the Good News and helping the needy. 3. Watch and pray—Stay focused on God and Jesus (not other people) and pray about everything. 4. Be a peacemaker. Refuse to grumble and complain. 5. Stay ready and never quit on God and Jesus. 6. Remember that it’s evil we are fighting against not actual people. “Wear the full armor of God. Wear God’s armor so that you can fight against the devil’s clever tricks. Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places. That is why you need to get God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil, you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing. So stand strong with the belt of truth tied around your waist, and on your chest wear the protection of right living. On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong. And also use the shield of faith with which you can stop all the burning arrows that come from the Evil One. Accept God’s salvation as your helmet. And take the sword of the Spirit—that sword is the teaching of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God’s people. ~Eph 6:11-18 ERV TGWG
