God’s children

WE RECOMMEND

Dear friends, This month our focus is on fatherhood and the impact of fathers in the family. Regardless of our own childhood experiences, God wants us to know Him as our Father, and learn from Him. We can learn so much from the relationship between Jesus and his Father – as described in the Bible. The children in our world are desperately in need of fathers, who live out God’s heart, and see children launched into the future God has planned for them. If you do not have such a positive experience with your natural father, the Lord would like to impress His heart on you today. He is our ‘Abba’, which is an Aramaic word for ‘daddy’. It describes the intimacy, genuine love and compassion of a Father who wants the very best for His children and will never stop to achieve it. It is my prayer that you will experience God’s Father heart for you – as you read this month’s magazine. May I use this opportunity to THANK YOU on behalf of all who are touched in one way or another through the global ministry of CBN. When the devastating earthquake hit Nepal, you were there to bring relief, hope and love to survivors.

COURAGEOUS

These four police officers are confident and focused on their job, but at home, they face their biggest challenge: fatherhood. When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. The only solution is to draw closer to God. DVD available at Amazon.co.uk

You were also there when we ministered to thousands of callers last month through our UK based prayer line, providing hope and a life-line. Thank you for facilitating the ministry of CBN through your prayers and generous support! May the Lord bless you abundantly.

Mark Dijkens, CBN UK & Ireland Director.

TESTIMONIES “I thank God for giving me three beautiful girls. In 2006 watching Pat Robertson and a co-host, I received a word of encouragement about having children after being worried about a medical condition.” From Grace

CBN Stories If you are suffering from a disease, an injury, or a chronic medical condition, you may wonder if you can ever be healed. The Bible has good news for you!

“I am really rediscovering myself as a christian, thanks to CBN on Freeview.”

While doctors and medicine are a gift of God and He certainly uses them to bring healing, His power is infinitely greater than any human wisdom or prescription. In fact, He “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20b).

“Love the awesome work you are doing! Worldwide this ministry is lead by people of God, who don’t put their interest first. Thank you and God bless you.”

Here at CBN, we have received thousands of reports from people around the world who have been healed in answer to prayer. We believe that prayer changes everything and we love to share the stories of God transforming lives.

“The 700 Club is one of the tools that our Lord Jesus Christ uses to show salvation and his love to mankind.”

We are His Chosen, Beloved Children God shapes every circumstance in our lives for good

What a tremendous blessing to be chosen by God as His children! Romans 8:14-16 says, “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (...) You have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” Even before God created the universe, He ordained that we would be part of His family! Ephesians 1:4 says, (...) “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.”

“In His love, God will shape every circumstance in our lives for good.”

As His dearly beloved children, we can rest assured that He will always take care of us. Romans 8:28 tells us, “We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” This means that in His love, God will shape every circumstance in our lives for good.

What a tremendous blessing to be chosen by God as His children! Romans 8:14-16 says, “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (...) “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” He forgives whatever sins we have committed, declaring us innocent through Jesus’ death on the cross. In fact, God’s love for us is so strong “that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

God is delighted when we share His love with the world so that more sons and daughters are adopted into His family. One day, He will take us to live with Him in heaven, where His love extends throughout all eternity. God bless you.

Global impact LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING AROUND THE WORLD During a recent month: EAST AND SOUTHERN AFRICA

119 video evangelism events were held in Zambia and South Africa. More than 16,170 people attended, and many responded with decisions for Christ.

INDIA

Thousands of children in India are now fans of Superbook® and Gizmo. Through CBN sponsored events in churches, schools, and outreach programmes, children have the opportunity to watch an episode from the series like “David and Goliath.” Fourteen thousand children have participated in 37 events so far.

Rescuing Babies from Death “My father was going to kill me so he could have a good harvest,” recalled Aisha. In Nigeria, where she was born, her village still believed in tribal superstitions involving child sacrifice, but by a miracle, this precious girl was rescued by a caring Christian couple, Gloria and Sola. Aisha was the first of more than 40 children they’ve sheltered. Now, Aisha is a teen, she is like a big sister in the children’s home where she lives. She takes care of the little ones and helps prepare meals. Every day she’s happy to be alive, because she knows that as a baby, she was marked for human sacrifice. Living in a three-room rented house was extremely difficult, but Gloria and Sola simply couldn’t turn any children away.

UK

The Prayer Centre received more than 1600 calls. Everyday callers lives are being changed by the power of prayer. During our Week of Prayer in April, our staff gathered together and prayed for hundreds of prayer requests from our CBN partners and friends.

Now a teen, Aisha has hope for a brighter future.

Then one day, CBN’s Orphan’s Promise discovered their plight, and built a larger, new home, with a bed for

each child. Because of compassionate partners Aisha now has a new home and says, “Thank you so much!”

Legacy Giving Planning a legacy begins with a time of reflection of the blessings and favour God has given you. During your time of reflection and prayer ask God, “What is His purpose for His blessings and what legacy has He planned through you?” God’s word encourages us to fix our eyes on the things that endure. An inheritance is temporary and fades as it is spent. A legacy is something tangible you place in others that lives long after you die. Create your legacy by connecting with the mission of CBN to make Jesus known to the nations of the world, bringing messages of hope and answers that permanently transform lives for eternity. Your legacy gift supports the CBN Family of Ministries through mass media, primarily television broadcasts, and humanitarian projects, The 700 Club and other CBN TV programmes worldwide, CBN prayer centres, Superbook animated Bible series, Orphan’s Promise, human trafficking intervention, CBN Israel, U.S. and international humanitarian and disaster relief aid through CBN and Operation Blessing, and more. “This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations.” Matthew 24:14 ESV Request your copy of CBN’s Legacy Giving booklet by calling us or by sending your request by email to legacy giving@cbneurope.com.

KIDS

Superbook in Europe

We live in a continent that is a veritable tower of Babel. The European Union member states must communicate and translate in 24 official languages. Altogether, Europe has more than 225 indigenous languages. That’s why it’s such a huge challenge for CBN to reach the youth of Europe with our new Superbook animated Bible series. The cost of translating and dubbing each episode can be more than £1,000 for each language. Your financial support to the Superbook Series is a big help to us in producing these tremendous tools of evangelism for other nations.

Superbook Kids Website Did you know that since the launch of the Superbook.tv website, over 5,000 children invited Jesus into their lives through our online Gospel presentation? When you support the Superbook Project, you are immediately impacting the lives of children around the world.

Help the Project! Support Superbook Project with a suggested gift of £15 per month or more and help us impact the nations! For more information visit www.superbook.tv

Already, we have created Superbook programmes in Italian, Hungarian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Albanian, German, Estonian, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish. In the pipeline are translations into Romanian, Croatian, Danish, Serbian, and Polish if the funds become available. That still leaves a lot of Europe’s youth without the Superbook programme in a language they can understand. 118 million Europeans are under the age of 15. Now is the time to introduce young people in Europe to the timeless stories of the Bible and help them understand The Good News of Jesus Christ. Peter Darg, CBN Europe’s Director.

Secrets of Effective Fathers

Be the dad your kids need. A godly father is key to a healthy family.

Some men stand head and shoulders above the crowd when it comes to being a father. In his research of fathers across the country, Dr. Ken Canfield, Found and President of the National Center for Fathering (U.S.), identified seven secrets for becoming an effective father: Be Committed Develop and maintain a high level of devotion to the fathering task. Embrace the many roles of fathering and establish that you are in for the long haul. Here are a few practical ways to pursue an active commitment to fathering: tell your children about your commitment, tell others about your commitment and ask them to hold you accountable to the task, closely monitor your commitment level to be sure your children do not get crowded out, and use visual aids, such as photographs and artwork, to remind you of the reward of fathering. Know your Child Take time to learn the specific, unique qualities of each child. Get involved in their world: their gifts, fears, disappointments, and dreams. Learn the names and personalities of their friends. Find out what upsets, embarrasses, motivates, and encourages each child. Be Consistent When children know what to expect from their fathers, they will be more confident and well adjusted. Be consistent in these six important ways: Limit your mood swings, be present in the family, keep your promises, maintain a high standard of morality, establish a regular schedule, and pursue hobbies and interests.

Protect and Provide Give your children security by responding positively to crises and providing a steady income. Fathers cannot prevent times of crisis, but your actions during a crisis will help restore family normalcy and teach your children how to cope with difficulties. A steady income will give you confidence in your role as an effective father. Love Their Mother Dedicate yourself to a meaningful, romantic marriage with your wife, and realise you are part of a parenting team. This is the best thing you can do for your children. Even when father and mother are no longer married, the children benefit greatly from a civil, cooperative relationship between parents. Listen Actively Recognise that your children can easily get lost in life’s many distractions. Listen carefully to what your children are saying, and not saying, and show them they deserve your undivided attention. Offer spiritual Leadership Help your children discover their own relationship with God by demonstrating your faith in action. Lead the family in regular times of worship, pray with your children, attend church regularly with the family, and use daily life to teach your children about the love of God. “Now a word to you fathers. Don’t make your children angry by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction approved by the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4,

As The Father Has Loved Me

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.” John 15:9 NIV

As a father of two sons, every time I read and meditate on this verse there is something that impacts me. Here we have Jesus speaking and He says that the same love my Heavenly Father has for me is the same love that I have for you. I don’t know about you, but my human mind cannot begin to process or understand the extent of what this truly means, however I know that it is the truth. It is incredible to receive a revelation and an understanding that He loves me, believes in me and has promised that He will never leave or fail me.

He loves me, believes in me and has promised that He will never leave or fail me. Recently my wife was working away and I was left at home looking after our two sons who are 15 and 9. During this time I had to keep reassuring my sons that although their mum was away, everything was going to be all right and actually everything went really well. How often in life do we go through

18 www.cbneurope.com

circumstances and situations in which there is a longing on the inside to know and experience the embrace and wink of approval from our Heavenly Father, to know that everything is going to be all right? There is a desire within each one of us to know that we are truly loved and accepted. However our true worth and identity can only be found when we choose to believe who God our Heavenly Father is, for He is not only a promise giver, but a promise keeper. Every day, there is a word that comes directly from His heart, if only we would take the time to listen. The second part of John 15:9 says “now remain in my love.” Every day, He lavishes His love upon us and our Heavenly Father truly wants to reveal His love in ways that causes each of us to experience what it is to continue, and know His love. What an incredible Father, and He takes great pleasure in you!
