Festive PrepZymes

with

The holiday season is approaching...fast! For many people, it is the season where we find the perfect excuse to eat and drink whatever takes our fancy and in quantities that far surpass the ‘normal portion size’! It is also a time to spend with family and friends and the importance of this can never be overemphasized. However, it usually implies several indulgences along the way. All that excess rich food can wreak havoc on the digestive system, as we eat one more mince pie, piece of Christmas cake or have ‘just another glass of champagne’ to celebrate these special moments.

Indigestion, constipation, flatulence and major gut discomfort are common side-effects of holiday gustatory affairs. To put this all into perspective, here are a few disconcerting facts:

• The festive season alone, can provide up to 5 ,200 Calories and a whopping 190 grams of fat (we are not talking healthy fats here!).

• 73% of people do not even think of the calorie intake over the festive season.

• You would have to run 2 marathons, or, 84 kilometres to burn this off.

• If you ate this way every day, you would be 140 kilograms heavier by the same time the next year.

Most people gain some fat over the holidays due to all the extra calories. Whilst your body naturally produces enzymes to facilitate the breakdown, transport and absorption of nutrients from the food that is eaten, overconsumption within short periods of time requires more enzymes than the body can produce1,2

In these situations, taking supplementary digestive enzymes is an absolute must.

The naturally occurring digestive enzymes are:

• Amylase for starch digestion

• Maltase for maltose (a complex sugar) digestion

• Lactase for the breakdown of lactose (the sugar in milk)

• Lipase for the breakdown of fats into fatty acids

• Proteases (several of them) for the breakdown of proteins into amino acids

• Sucrose to break down sucrose into glucose and fructose2

In comparison, AIM PrepZymes have the following formula:

Protease I

1.
2. Protease II 3. Alpha/Beta Amylase 4. Lipase 5. Cellulase 6. Lactase 7. Maltase 8. Invertase 9. Papain
4 Nov - Dec 2022 / to order call 011-675-0477 PRODUCT FEATURE

In addition to taking supplementary digestive enzymes, here are some tips to help this gastric overload and dysfunction:

• Eat more vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and kale.

• Drink more water – we tend to forget our water requirements in the face of so many other delicious options. Keep hydrated, especially if you have any alcohol, which will cause dehydration amongst other symptoms. Drinking more water also fills us up so we tend to eat less when drinking more water. About 1.5 – 2 litres per day is the recommendation.

• Exercise even if you have no access to a gym. Walk, run, swim or do anything that keeps your body moving. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Research has shown that even walking immediately or within 30 minutes of eating helps to reduce blood sugar levels.

• Chew your food thoroughly. Most of us tend to eat too fast with the result that the food does not get enough exposure to the enzymes that are produced in the saliva. These enzymes are responsible for much of the starch digestion, which explains why eating too quickly may often result in ‘sore tummies’. Our grandmothers were right!

• Eat more fibre and if that is not an option, then take a fibre

supplement (AIM Fit n’ Fiber). Fibre helps reduce the transit time of the food bolus in the gut, therefore helping constipation as well as bloating. If the food bolus sits in the digestive tract for too long, it will ferment and this is the reason for the production of gas and resultant flatulence. Foods that contain natural fibre include all the whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, potatoes with the skin on and of course more of the fibrous vegetables such as the cabbage family.

• Tropical fruits and fermented vegetables are a great source of naturally occurring digestive enzymes. Start the day with papaya or pineapple, both of which contain protein-digesting enzymes, which greatly help the breakdown of these nutrients. Other naturally fermented foods include sauerkraut, natural yoghurts, kimchi and kombucha, which can all help to maintain the healthy gut microbiota.

Introducing BarleyLife Xtra

Right from the start, rest assured that cherry-apple flavoured BarleyLife Xtra remains a full-time member of the AIM product lineup. But for a limited time only, you can also enjoy this perennially popular, whole-food powder with a tasty tropical flavour as AIM introduces BarleyLife Xtra Pineapple.

Regular users of BarleyLife Xtra will know that pineapple has always been one of its “fruitful” ingredients. Stepping out of the mix and into the forefront, pineapple provides a flavourful burst. For the record, this limited-edition product tastes amazing!

It can be a refreshing change to shake things up a bit, and shaking up a new taste of BarleyLife Xtra into a cold beverage fits the bill of a refreshing change you’ll enjoy. What’s more, the nutritional value hasn’t changed a bit.

The 270g canister provides 60 servings. Each 4.5-gram serving contains the same amount of BarleyLife. To optimize the delivery of all of its nutrients and phytonutrients, brown rice oligodextrin acts as a protective buffer between the enzymes and other molecules of nutrition unique to the juice powder of young barley leaves.

AIM’s cold process for harvesting and drying barley grass ensures the preservation of chlorophyll from leaf to powder. That means one serving of BarleyLife Xtra Pineapple still delivers over 22 mg of chlorophyll.

And you still get a total of 18 fruits and vegetables that provide a diverse number of plant-based antioxidants, guarding against free radical damage.

All of Xtra’s goodness is gluten-free and non-GMO, and, of course, the pineapple flavour maintains BarleyLife Xtra’s status of being vegan.

Available for a limited time only. Order yours today! 6 Nov - Dec 2022 / to order call 011-675-0477 NEW PRODUCT

Pineapple

If you drink the tropically pineapple taste of BarleyLife Xtra in a hot and humid climate, remember that you can store the canister in a dehumidifying freezer to avoid clumping of the powder.

By the way, there’s no added sugar in BarleyLife Xtra Pineapple, and its 1 gram of sugar is plant-based. This natural sweetness has made BarleyLife Xtra a very popular, healthy drink among children. The same sweet thing can be said for people of all ages who don’t appreciate a taste of barley grass.

Adding the flavour of pineapple to the mix creates a new taste sensation to this wholefood nutrition, so this limited-time offer will appeal even to those who have never tried BarleyLife

AIM recommends that all Members and Customers enjoy the taste of BarleyLife Xtra Pineapple for as long as it is available.

Pineapple Bits of History

pineapples and introduce them to European cuisine was none other than Christopher Columbus. It was in November of 1493 that Columbus first came upon this succulent fruit, growing on a group of islands in the Southern Caribbean Sea.

The exotic taste and texture of pineapples were a big hit when Columbus brought them back to Spain. That popularity would only grow over the centuries. However, the difficulties involved in transporting pineapples across the sea to arrive in a fresh, edible state made them a rarity available mostly to the wealthy. In fact, pineapples would sell for up to $8,000 in today’s currency.

Four hundred and seven years after Columbus’s pineapple encounter, the first commercial pineapple plantation was started in Hawaii by James Dole.

In August 2022, AIM introduced the delectable flavour of pineapple as a limited “extra” in BarleyLife Xtra. Make sure you order this temporary taste of nutrition before it is history.

AIMega

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) are essential to the correct functioning of our body. They are not produced by the body and therefore need to be included in our diet, which is why they are termed ‘essential’. I have been supplementing with AIMega since I started using the AIM products. I simply cannot be without it!

EFA’s are important in energy production as without energy we cannot function. I am a dancer and dance approximately 12 or more hours a week. I have plenty of energy. I mix and enjoy BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets in water first thing in the morning. With that I have AIMega capsules. I love to chew the capsules and taste the oil, I find them delicious!

I experienced first hand how vital essential fatty acids are for the proper functioning of the Endocrine System (controls hormone production). In 2019, I went through some emotional trauma which resulted in an underactive thyroid, which I then needed to bring back into balance. I increased my Garden Trio (BarleyLife, Just Carrots, RediBeets) and AIMega dosage, taking the products several times a day. I do believe that some people are more sensitive when it comes to hormones and I am one of those individuals that require more essential fatty acids than the average person.

With the imbalance in the thyroid, my skin was rather dry, especially during the Gauteng winter months. AIMega, which has the correct balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids is just what I needed and what assisted to make my skin more supple and softer. My sleep pattern was also completely

disrupted. Composure helped immensely! Since the sleep cycle is regulated by the endocrine system, taking enough essential fatty acids, which also helps to keep the thyroid function in check, resulted in a better night’s sleep.

The Endocrine System also controls mental clarity. I can honestly say that I struggled to remember my dance routines and so much more. As I continued taking my AIM products which included Composure, Peak Endurance and RediBeets mixed together - my “go to” delicious drink; my thyroid started to regain balance.

Optimal food digestion is another area of endocrine function. I had food cravings and an increased appetite and I felt that AIMega helped curb both of these symptoms.

Omega-3 fatty acids are also needed for prostaglandin production. Prostaglandins are lipid compounds which are vital to the functioning of the immune system. This is very important to me as a dancer as I could not afford to take too much time off due to illness. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) creates an anti-inflammatory effect on the body which helps to manage joint pain and body aches.

8 Nov - Dec 2022 / to order call 011-675-0477 HEALTHY ATTITUDE

AIMega and Peak Endurance ensure that I am comfortable and don’t suffer from lactic acid build up.

There is a common misconception that one has to consume fish or fish oil supplements in order to receive daily Omega-3 requirements. I have found AIMega (plant based product) to be perfect for me, so no fish oil is necessary. Thank you AIM!

Omega-6 helps the body to promote inflammation and blood clotting in balance – both important in wound healing. Any scrapes and bruises I pick up along the way are dealt with by my body, in no time at all.

Along with the flax oil found in AIMega, I also consume chia seeds and walnuts which also supply Omega -3s. Eating a good variety of these will greatly assist with obtaining sufficient EFA’s.

Achieving a 1:1 ratio of Omega 6:3 fatty acids would be ideal. However, with the typical western diet high in meat and dairy, many people are contributing to inflammation and chronic disease (e.g. heart disease, arthritis, and cancer, to name a few) by consuming an inadequate amount of omega 3 fatty acids and too many omega 6 fatty acids. In some cases, the ratios are to 30:1!! Knowing this, I focus on whole and plant-based foods that provide all the nutrition (including my AIM products).

Depressive thoughts and negative emotions are something that I also suffered from and I feel taking AIMega helped me to cope with those feelings. As a Natural Health Consultant, I encourage women with “hot flashes”

due to menopausal symptoms, to take AIMega at increased dosages and they have seen a remarkable improvement after using this product.

In my capacity as a La Leche League Leader (breastfeeding league) for many years, I know just how vital Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is for brain development and function in childhood. I have also recommended adults to take AIMega to help maintain and optimize brain function. I encourage my clients that struggle with health issues to start with Herbal Fiberblend, AIMega and BarleyLife as I have found that these products have a very positive effect on overall health.

The oils in AIMega are kept in a dark carob capsule which protects the oil from light and heat. The nitrogen flushed capsule also ensures that oxygen is unavailable to cause rancidity.

The oils in AIMega are an internal cosmetic for great skin – as Udo Erasmus (author of Fats that Heal and Fats that Kill), stated: “the skin receives EFA’s last and loses it first.” He also stated that we need more EFA’s in winter than in summer as every cell requires energy. If you give it more energy, it functions better. Let’s help our cells function better with AIMega!

BarleyLife & Thyroid

Health

The Thyroid Gland

One of the questions that always comes up with regard to BarleyLife, is “Is BarleyLife good for the thyroid?”

Firstly, let us unpack exactly what the thyroid gland is, how it functions and what nutrients are needed to keep the thyroid healthy.

The thyroid gland is a small butterflyshaped gland in the neck, just in front of the windpipe (trachea). One of its main functions is to produce hormones that help regulate the body’s metabolism (the process that turns food into energy). These hormones are called triiodothyronine, commonly referred to as T3 and thyroxine, also known as T42

One of the major nutrients necessary for adequate production of thyroid hormone is iodine. A deficiency in iodine is responsible for formation of the large swelling of the thyroid gland, referred to as a goiter. The body needs about 150mcg of iodine per day in order for the thyroid to produce sufficient hormones to regulate metabolism. If the production of these hormones (T3 and T4) is not sufficient, it will cause hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid.

Foods that do supply iodine include:

• Fish and seafood

• Dairy products

Eggs

• Nuts

• Seaweed products

• Iodized salt

In some countries, the drinking water is fortified with iodine, especially in areas with iodine deficiency is common. It should also be mentioned that having too much iodine (more than 1100 mcg per day) is also not advised3. In South Africa, table salt contains approximately 27mg per kg so the conversion of this to milligrams is: 27 x 1000 = 27000 mcg per kg. A daily consumption of 1 teaspoon salt will provide approximately 125 mcg per day4.

There are foods which can interfere with iodine absorption. These foods contain compounds, referred to as goitrogens, which limit the absorption and therefore, the availability, of iodine to the thyroid. Goitrogenic foods include: cruciferous vegetables, such as kale, Brussel sprouts, radishes and cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and bok choy1. Foods like spinach, not only have goitrogens, but also contain oxalates, which are another group of compounds known to inhibit iodine absorption.

BarleyLife

So now let us discuss BarleyLife and its nutrition. Firstly, BarleyLife is an all-natural, green barley grass juice powder concentrate. AIM uses a coldprocessed technology, which preserves

10 Nov - Dec 2022 / to order call 011-675-0477 HEALTH FEATURE

the natural amounts of vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, antioxidants, phytonutrients and enzymes. BarleyLife does not contain goitrogens which will prevent the absorption of iodine and therefore negatively impact the thyroid hormone production. In addition. One must consider all the nutrients that are necessary in order to promote optimal thyroid function.

We already know that iodine is essential but the other critical nutrients are:

• Selenium - helps to protect the thyroid from oxidative stress. Foods containing selenium include meat, Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, seafood and whole grains.

• Zinc - in addition to iodine, zinc is crucial for the production of the thyroid hormones, T3 and T4. In a co-dependent relationship, adequate thyroid hormone levels are also necessary in order to absorb zinc in the first place. Foods containing zinc include poultry, eggs and seafood as well as whole grains.

• B Complex vitamins, especially vitamin B12 – low levels of vitamin B12 lessens the conversion of T4 to T3. B12 can be found in foods such as meat, eggs, fish, dairy products (especially fermented dairy such as natural yoghurt) and some cereals are also fortified with vitamin B12.

• Iron is required in order for the thyroid to convert T4 into T3. Iron is a component of the enzyme, thyroid peroxidase which is crucial in this conversion of T4 to T3. Iron is found in red meat, especially beef, red beans, eggs, dark green leafy vegetables, dates, raisins and apricots.

• Magnesium deficiency will also

compromise the conversion of T4 to T3. Magnesium is found in seafood, including shellfish, whole grains and fresh fruit and vegetables5,6 & 7

The nutrient content of BarleyLife is as follows:

Conclusion

It is therefore evident from research and the nutrient analysis of BarleyLife, that this product contains nutrients that are essential for optimal thyroid functioning. Furthermore, the nutrients are contained within the food product itself, and have not been manufactured in a laboratory. This means that BarleyLife is equivalent to eating food that is rich in naturally occurring compounds. Very few people can eat the daily recommended 5-7 servings of vegetables and fresh fruit per day, whether this be due to availability, affordability or simply individual likes and dislikes. Taking BarleyLife on a daily basis can achieve so much for general health, including thyroid health.

Test Your pH Balance

Whether you are a Member or a Customer, one of the health tools available to you is the AIM pH Test Kit, a handy supply of test strips that provide accurate readings of your pH levels.

The pH balance that determines the degree of acidity or alkalinity in your body is a work of “healthy” art. It’s part of homeostasis, the ongoing state of balance among all your body systems to maintain optimal wellness.

Normally, your blood is slightly alkaline, measuring within a pH range of 7.35 to 7.451. Meanwhile, the gastric acids in your stomach are necessarily acidic with a pH range of 1.5 to 3.5, required to digest food and act as a line of defence against harmful bacteria and viruses2

Then there’s the acidity or alkalinity you add to your body environment through your nutritional choices. Whole, plant-based foods have an alkalizing effect when consumed while ultraprocessed foods (e.g., fast foods, soft drinks, cookies, potato chips, etc.) acidify your body environment. And there’s a cellular connection between acidity and inflammation.

An acidic environment can activate immune-system receptors called inflammasomes in macrophages, protective white blood cells in your immune system. On the other hand, alkalinization of the macrophage environment inhibits inflammasome

activation. Controlling pH inside and outside of cells is crucial for homeostasis3. Furthermore, in diseases such as arthritis, cancer, neuro-inflammation and stroke, an elevated level of acidity is found outside the cells of affected tissues4

Helping people make the right nutritional choices or pH balance has been a part of AIM’s four-decade mission, ever since the introduction of its barley grass juice powder that helps alkalize the body naturally. Using the AIM pH Test Kit is a practical way to regularly check your acid-alkaline balance. Each comes with 100 strips that are easy to use for measuring the pH of your saliva or urine and for monitoring the effects that your nutritional choices have on pH balance.

Pet Health

Pets are an integral part of many families and play a huge role in how children learn to react with animals, as well as the comfort and companionship they offer.

Most pet lovers will go to the ends of the earth to ensure that their ‘best friends’ have the best care available and that includes their food. I Have been exposed to dogs my entire life and particularly in my married life, during which time we have never had fewer than 3 dogs at any one moment in time. Needless to say, food for everyone is horrendously expensive, and this includes pet food. In addition, we have to consider whether our pets are receiving the nutrition they need from the dried or canned foods that are available. In my experience, there is no such thing as cheap food, whether it is for human or animal nutrition. Cheap food will often mean that there is a deficiency of nutrients, which is then redirected into expensive medical care. So, why not do it better in the first place? Feed your family and your pets the best food you can afford and have access to.

Cats and dogs

Are the most common household pets (we also had snakes as my youngest son had a passion for reptiles – but let’s not go there).

The most important aspects to ensure are:

Skin and fur health

Flexible joints

Good digestive systems

When it comes to the AIM product selection, we can happily use some of the same products on our pets as we use for ourselves. This is a true bonus as we then don’t have go to the vet to purchase different supplements.

Skin and fur health – nothing reflects a healthy animal than soft fur and the absence of dry skin, eczema and sores. If your pet has a poor quality coat and/ or a chronic skin condition, you need to ensure a proper dermatological workup by a vet to help eradicate any

other diagnosis. If there is none, and the coat and skin remain under par, then you need to take a good look at the diet. One of the main nutrients necessary for fur and skin health is Vitamin A, both in the animal version as retinol, and plant version of betacarotene. This vital nutrient allows for skin differentiation (where the skin needs to be tougher, as in the soles of the feet, or more tender, as on the belly) and the keratinization of skin cells. The minerals, zinc, selenium, copper, iodine and manganese have been identified as essential to the normal growth and turnover of skin cells and fur in both dogs and cats.

AIM BarleyLife can provide some of these nutrients necessary to keep your pet’s skin and fur glossy and healthy.

The importance of flexible joints can never be underestimated. As dogs age, which happens a lot faster than we think, their joints are often the

first to go. Painful joints are disabling and debilitating and animals don’t have the luxury of being able to tell us how sore they are. With this in mind, prevention is so much better than cure. One of the most important components of preventing joint disabilities in your pets, is to ensure that they maintain a healthy weight. Obese animals are far more likely to develop arthritis than those of normal weight. Keeping your pet active is also of prime importance. Some supplements that contain the following neutraceuticals have shown enormous benefit, not only in the management of joint pain, but more specifically, in the prevention of joint pain in the first place! These include glucosamine, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) and omega 3 fatty acids. Once again, AIMega comes to the rescue! AIM Frame Essentials provide a natural solution to help keep your pet’s joints healthy and flexible.

Essential fatty acids are as important to animals as they are to humans. We cannot rely on food sources, especially with our pets, to provide the essential fatty acids in the diet that can help to fight inflammation The two types of fatty acids, linoleic acid and linolenic acid that are essential for humans are also deemed essential for dogs. AIMega is an excellent source of both! An added bonus is that they LOVE the taste of AIMega. Simply open up the capsule and mix with their food.

Another major issue in pet health is that of digestion. If a dog or cat’s digestive system is not functioning well, then they are vulnerable. AIM Flora Food helps to provide them with sufficient healthy bacteria to help keep their guts happy!

The suggested serving for these products are as follows:

a family passionate about AIM Products

“Remember, it’s not what you eat today, tomorrow or next week that matters, but rather what you eat over months, years and decades. You have to make changes within the constraints of your lifestyle, especially with regard to those who travel extensively.”

You will never know the amazing lifechanging benefits AIM products have to offer until you have used the prod ucts for a period of time, especially BarleyLife.

I became an AIM Member in October 2007. Looking back now, I am so grate ful that I was introduced to the AIM products. I knew food played an impor tant role in health, especially adding more greens to your diet.

I lost my mom in 2001 when she was only 49 years old. She was an epileptic and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at a later stage. I remember her taking a handful of prescription drugs every day. She thought she couldn’t go without them. I wish I knew about the AIM products then when she was battling to survive her illness. Her suffering and illness became my big gest obsession. Her suffering impacted our entire family. It was heart-breaking to see her so sick.

I realised that so much has changed, with regard to my own health, even though at the time I did not think I had any health issues. My occasional migraines are now a thing of the past. My blood sugar levels have stabilised

and I have more energy! Turning 45 in December I can see the effect AIM products have had and still have on my skin as well. Despite my DNA results showing that I have a skin prone to aging, I receive a lot of compliments for looking younger than I really am. Thank you AIM!

My eldest son, who is 21 now, never had the teenage breakouts like most of his peers. I believe this is because he was using BarleyLife. Another big advan tage is that according to NutritionFacts. org “Eating antioxidant-rich foods can bolster skin protection and reduce sun burn redness by 40 percent1.”

What a wonderful privilege to be able to raise my kids on greens. They do not know what it is like to go to a doctor. They recuperate very quickly when I increase the dose of BarleyLife or the Garden Trio. I also give them CalciAIM and Proancynol in times of need.

As a family, we start our mornings with the Food Essentials (BarleyLife, Just Carrots, RediBeets and AIMega). AIMega is a seed blend of omega 3, 6 and 9 in perfect ratio. My husband and I take PrepZymes when we have a meal with gluten, and one of my sons

takes PrepZymes when he consumes dairy products.

Adding BarleyLife to your daily rou tine can be one of the best decisions you make for yourself and your family! Our bodies are designed perfectly to protect themselves and we are pro vided with all the foods and plants to provide nutrition. It is our responsibility to give our bodies what it needs. It is, after all, the vessel that hosts our soul

and spirit. Material things don’t satisfy us. Spend your money wisely!

As previously mentioned, it is not what you eat for the next few weeks or months, but rather years. Start today if you want to feel better and stay younger for longer!

Diabetes: Being Aware

November is a world awareness month for diabetes, and the truth is that we should all be aware of type 2 diabetes, given its nature as a silent killer.

A person can have type 2 diabetes for years without any noticeable symptoms. Chronic insulin resistance results in longterm, high blood sugar levels, which damage the body over time and can lead to other serious health complications, such as kidney disease, vision loss and heart disease¹.

Type 2 diabetes used to be called adultonset diabetes, but there has been a rise in cases among children, teens and young adults in the past few decades. This increase is connected to other worldwide increases: the prevalence of obesity and the consumption of ultraprocessed foods.

Diabetes and Diet Globalization has introduced both positives and negatives into unique cultures around the world, including a sameness of goods and services.² The global marketing of unhealthy, ultraprocessed, fast foods has changed the dietary intake of populations in many countries and created a rise in obesity and type 2 diabetes cases where once previously rare³.

Even if a person’s diet is otherwise healthy, the consumption of ultraprocessed foods still increases the

risk of type 2 diabetes.⁴ Adopting a primarily whole-food, plant-based diet is considered nutritional prevention of this disease, reducing the burden of type 2 diabetes and improving a person’s overall health5.

It’s important to emphasize plantbased, whole foods because there are many junk foods among plantbased products that are actually ultraprocessed, including pre-packaged snacks, breakfast cereals and energy bars6

Awareness helps to make diseases such as type 2 diabetes preventable.

Healthy Tip

Walking for even two minutes after eating can help to lower blood sugar levels, so move right after a meal.

The Minerals and Herbs in GlucoChrom

Two statistical ingredients that indicate a person’s state of health are blood glucose levels and body weight. And there’s a causative connection between the two. An unhealthy body weight can lead to the complications of high blood sugar.

GlucoChrom is formulated with four natural ingredients that support both healthy blood sugar levels and weight management in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

The Minerals Chromium

This trace mineral acts like a facilitator for insulin, a hormone that regulates the transfer of glucose from blood into cells. Chromium is thought to be a cofactor of chromodulin, a chromiumbinding substance that enhances insulin sensitivity and the uptake and storage of glucose for energy. Furthermore, chromium plays a role in the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

Vanadium

The activity of this mineral has an influence on the insulin signaling pathway that effects glucose uptake and storage. In the July 2020 Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, vanadium is called a partner of insulin in regard to metabolic regulation. Even though the body requires only a trace amount, vanadium’s biological action is extensive, right down to cellular metabolism.

The Herbs Bitter Melon

This edible, tropical fruit is a food that provides benefits for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Over 200 compounds have been identified in bitter melon, including bioactive carotenoids, flavonoids and phytosterols. A study published in 2022 focused on the peptides in bitter melon that prove to be effective for lowering blood glucose levels.

Gymnema Extract

This herbal ingredient comes from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre, a woody climbing plant that is native to India, where its Hindi name means destroyer of sugar.“ Recent research indicates that gymnema enhances the secretion of insulin, lowers blood sugar and suppresses cravings for sweet foods and snacks, thereby reducing caloric intake and contributing to weight management.

One capsule of GlucoChrom delivers 200 micrograms of chromium, 37.5 micrograms of vanadium and a combined 475 milligrams of bitter melon and gymnema extract.

CranVerry - 60 vegan capsules

Proanthocyanidin Power

The Truth About CranVerry+

The cranberry extract in CranVerry+ contains the whole fruit and nothing but the fruit, so from the outside skin to the inner seeds you get whole cranberry nutrition and the benefits it delivers, particularly for urinary tract health.

Cranberry sauce is traditionally a Thanksgiving side dish in America and Canada, but research published this year suggests that this scarlet red fruit should be a regular part of dietary intake as a food or a supplement. Why? Benefits for both cardiovascular and brain health from cranberry polyphenols that include proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins and flavonols.

bit.ly/CardioCranberries

bit.ly/MemoryCranberries

Many plants contain natural, chemical compounds called proanthocyanidins that protect them from potential predators, including plant-eating mammals, invasive insects and microbial pathogens. It turns out that proanthocyanidins consumed from a plant-based diet provide inner protection and health benefits for the human body. The unique A-type found in cranberries are a protective example of proanthocyanidin power.

bit.ly/ProanthocyanidinPower

If pathogenic bacteria can attach themselves to the uroepithelial cells of the bladder, they can multiply and cause urinary tract infections. A-type cranberry proanthocyanidins prevent this unhealthy attachment, allowing these pathogens to be flushedout of the body during urination.

Cranberry extract combined with mangosteen, beta-glucanase and giant knotweed (resveratrol) puts the plus in CranVerry+ with three additional phytonutrient-rich ingredients that promote urinary tract health.
