Cancer day is observed every year, but are we and the government doing our bit to ward it off?

Anyday when someone comes up with a hope to treat cancer in a better way or cure the disease, a handful cries foul. Bold claims of cancer cures, substantiated or unsubstantiated, can’t be ignored or ridiculed or looked upon as a red flag by other researchers because there has never been a fool proof treatment or cure for this deadly disease so far. Our hopes must always be on the side of new breakthroughs in cancer treatment and regulating bodies should play their best cooperative part in facilitating the process from mice to man with caution but without prejudice. With our fingers crossed for a “Magic Bullet”, we must remember that drugs that act great in cell cultures and even animal models don’t give us what we expect in clinical trials for pharmacokinetics reasons. Apart from R&D on cancer, every individual can try optimism, shun carcinogens, do their bit and hope to live cancer free.

60 governments across the world observing cancer day for almost 2 decades haven’t changed the health scenario. 9.6 milliondie from cancer every year and 70 per cent of cancer deaths occur in low-to-middle income countries (India Today, Feb 4, 2019).As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, and lung cancer which together constitute 41 per cent of cancer burden. Objective behind world cancer day is aboutsaving millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness about cancer, and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.

Consolidated efforts from all sections of the society along with the government will address certain challenges associated with cancer. But autonomous bodies like the FSSAI and the National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC) at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) can play their part in time and on time in regulating what’s available for consumption and what all have to be eliminated from the market without further ado.

Why do we celebrate particular days without actually understanding the objective behind! India is the second largest consumer of tobacco in the world. Yet, shamelessly, our government observes world no tobacco day.

According to WHO, Smoking kills over one million people in India annually and is the fourth leading cause of non-communicable diseases (NCD) such as cancer and heart diseases, which account for 53 per cent of all deaths in India. Cigarettes constitute the principal form of tobacco usage in virtually every market of the world and account for 85% of global tobacco consumption by volume and 93% by value. Tobacco is a major source of revenue to Governments in both the developed and emerging markets and cigarettes contribute the lion's share of such revenues.

Every time there is a loud cry about banning tobacco and closing down tobacco companies, our government displays their concern about small and marginal farmers, 400,000 of them who grow cigarette tobaccos and over

600,000 who grow non-cigarette tobaccos.

The fact as we all know is farmer suicides have continued unabated since 1990s. Farmers are displaced, government schemes and assistance don’t reach the neediest segment, loan waivers don’t help small farmers and alleviate their penury but governments think tobacco cultivation does the magic. How ridiculous does this look as we observe world cancer day every other passing year! More so, the overall tax rate on all tobacco products in India is still very low compared to other middle-income countries. In essence, the overall concern shouldn’t be about increasing tax rates but about banning tobacco.

More than half the snacks that have been taken off the shelves in US were of Indian make. The US FDA reported that wafers, cookies and biscuits from one of India's biggest sweets and snacks manufacturer contain poisonous and adulterated content. They said that the products are "filthy, putrid or decomposed-otherwise unfit".

US stopped importing bhujiaczar’s snacks since 2015 when FDA detected pesticides in it. As the integrity of Indian food regulators came under the scanner, a big gun explained the discrepancy in a funny manner. He said that food safety standards differed from one country to another. Did he mean to say Indians do not mind eating pesticides! The twominute noodle episode is still fresh in the minds of consumers. But for the food inspector at the Uttar Pradesh government’s Food Safety and Drug Administration and his audacity, one year ban of the two minute noddle

pack wouldn’t have happened. To a big cheese of the global giant, the crisis looked like an opportunity to emerge better but for those who had already consumed the ‘Taste Bhi Health Bhi’ snack containing lead beyond permissible limit it’s an irreversible health crisis.

Chyawanprash banned in Canada for high amounts of lead and mercury is sold and bought in India as a nutritive jam. Hydrogenated oils, canned products, refined sugar and many more cancerous foods preserved using Sodium benzoate and Sodium nitrite adorn the shelves of all shops throughout the country. It is no secret that these two preservatives cause hyper reactivity and gastric cancer.

Have we ever come across brands being suspended in India! The two-minute noodle is again on the shelves and it depends on the aware/ unaware, careful/careless, wise/unwise consumer to rely on tales of two test results or conscious reasoning.

Anti-acidity drug Ranitidine is still sold in India after being banned in US for carcinogen content 3,000 times higher than the permissible limit.

He said, “There is a possibility that the products referred to, which are meant for sale in India, are entering the US through parallel imports. Since the labelling requirements for India are different, it is not surprising that the products do not fulfil the FDA requirement include mislabelling and products containing allergens”.

Colourless food might look unappetizing.

So, the solution is to replace deadly cancerous dyes with natural ones extracted from plants.

Banning synthetic dyes and promoting colourless healthy foods must go hand in hand. Should we await conclusive evidences that cancerous foods cause cancer? In addition to providing and regulating licenses, FSSAI can resort to monthly checks of random food products too. Packed and semiprocessed food products with preservatives must be regularly scrutinized.

I think anything that comes in crinkly plastic wrapper is to be avoided because they contain shelf- stabilizing ever cancerous ingredients.

How long do we intend to use microwave safe plastic food containers and cling wraps?

Till cancer strike us or till researchers come out with convincing scientific evidence that any plastic when heated will release cancerous chemicals!

As we observe World cancer day, may we take a vow to make lifestyle changes, advocate everything that will promise a cancer-free world and rally together against anything that ‘ups cancer risk’. Will vigilant food authorities take punitive action against those who indulge in manufacturing and selling substandard, adulterated and cancerous foods? Trust and faith in governments collapse even if one black sheep works hand in glove with those who make and sell harmful food products. Should FSSAI and CDSCO wait for some hero somewhere to blow the whistle?

“I AM AND I WILL” must motivate food safety officers to remain true to their conscience as they carry out their duties and responsibilities. They can also make sure health promotion campaigns are scaled up in response to the rise in life-style related cancers.

Incidentally, cancer prevention tips must be part of every school curriculum so that children are educated at a very early age to make wise choices.

A Delhi court last Monday issued a new death warrant to hang the four accused in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case on March 3 at 6 AM. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana has issued this death warrant to hang the four convicts Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar (31).

This is the third time that death warrants have been issued for these four as if the mockery of our judicial system.

The first date of hanging was fixed on 22 January. But it was postponed to 6 AM on the morning

of February 1 following a January 17 court order.

Then on 31 January, the lower court stayed the execution of the four convicts till further orders, as all their legal options were not exhausted.

During the last hearing, Mukesh told the court that he does not want Advocate Vrinda Grover to defend him. The court then appointed advocate Ravi Kazi to present his side.

The court was also informed that Vinay Sharma, the other culprit in the case, is on a hunger strike in Tihar Jail.

Vinay's lawyer told the court that he was attacked in jail and suffered a head injury. His lawyer also said that he is suffering from serious

mental illness so he cannot be hanged.

The court then directed the Superintendent of Tihar Jail to take proper care of Vinay as per law.

Pawan's lawyer told the court that his client wants to file a corrective petition in the Supreme Court and a mercy petition before the President.

Pawan Gupta is the only criminal among the four criminals who have not yet filed a corrective petition.

This is the last legal option for anyone who is judged in the chamber.

Pawan Gupta also has the option to apply for mercy.

Akshay Kumar's lawyer told the court that he has prepared a new mercy petition which will be given

to the President.

The Supreme Court had permitted the authorities to go to the lower court seeking a new date for the execution of these culprits.

After that, the court-appointed Kazi to advocate and the Tihar Jail authorities had told the court that Pawan refused to choose the counsel given by the Delhi Legal Services Authority.

A day before that, the court expressed displeasure over Pawan for delaying the process. Pawan's father told the court that he had removed his previous lawyer and that he needed time to get a new lawyer.

On December 16, 2012, a 23year-old physiotherapy trainee was gang-raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus in South Delhi. The victim died in a hospital in Singapore.

Six people, including Ram Singh and a teenager, were named accused in the case. The hearing of the five adult accused commenced in the fast court in March 2013. Ram Singh committed suicide by hanging himself in Tihar Jail shortly after the trial began. The teenager was placed in a three-year correctional home.

The teenager was released in 2015 and sent to an undisclosed location amid concerns about his life being threatened. He was 20 when he was released.

India banned entry to a UK Labour party MP who was arguing against the role of India regarding Article 370 which has been revoked the special status of Kashmir last year.

Debbie Abrahams, the chief of British Parliamentary group on the burning issue of Kashmir was categorically denied for a standard eVisa at National Capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Immigration officials could not able to explain the perfect reason behind this particular decision.

UK-Parliamentarian, D. Abrahams has already concerned over the move of India to destabilize the partial autonomy for some part of Kashmir .

Ms. Abrahams, MP hails from Oldham East and Saddleworth, was approaching to India on her visit. After she landed in Delhi last Monday on an Emirates flight, she was directed that her visa had been rejected and she will not be allowed to visit the heaven of India, I .e.-Jammu & Kasmir.

"I'm prepared to let the fact that I've been treated like a criminal go, and I hope they will let me visit my family and friends," she said in a statement.

India: Police interrogate journalists for publishing banned outfit’s statement

The Jammu and Kashmir Police (J&K police) called in two journalists for questioning for publication of a statement by a banned organisation. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its affiliate the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) are concerned by the repeated questioning and intimidation of the two journalists by police.

Police summoned media workers, Naseer Ahmad Ganie, from Outlook Magazine, and Haroon Nabi, from the news agency CNS, for questioning on February 8 for allegedly publishing a statement of the banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and sharing a post on WhatsApp. The statement from JKLF had called for a shutdown on Sunday and Tuesday – two key dates for the organisation marking the hangings of two former members. According to The Indian Express, Outlook Magazine published the

statement with Nabi forwarding the story to a CNS WhatsApp group. The JKLF was banned in March 2019 under the anti-terror law for allegedly promoting separatist activities.

The IJU stated the journalists “were merely doing their work of reporting and demanded that the J&K police refrain from harassing and intimidating the media”.

Since Article 370 was removed on August 5, ending the partial autonomy and statehood of Kashmir, the Kashmir Press Club (KPC) notes several journalists have been summoned and questioned by J&K police for simply reporting.

The KPC condemned the “harassment” by police, while KPC General Secretary, Ishfaq Tantry, said: “On and off, journalists have been summoned by the police for their stories.” Senior journalists from KPC met with J&K’s Inspector General Vijay Kumar on February 8 who denied the allegations of police harassment.

IJU said: “The Union demanded that the Kashmir administration respect media rights, the right to free speech and internet freedom. The

administration must remember that journalists have the universally recognised right not to divulge their sources and that journalists across the

globe are standing up to protect this right.”

The IFJ said: “We condemn the arbitrary questioning and intimidation of Kashmiri

journalists. We urge Kashmir authorities to respect the rights of journalists and refrain from acts that undermine press freedom.”

Is Delhi Election result a warning signal for BJP and Congress?

The results of the election have fully proved that the people of Delhi are righteous, sober and sensible.

By Li,ty Khare Delhi may not get full state status yet, but the results of Delhi assembly elections have raised alarm both for BJP and Congress. Regional parties are once again ruling over the National parties.

Established national parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress must now feel the need for self-churn.

These parties will now have to change their strategy, style, and traditions. For a long time, this second line level of Politics in the BJP and Congress at the national level has not been seen.

The experiments conducted by the BJP-led central government before the Delhi elections also proved quite unsuccessful.

The people of Delhi have once again expressed their obligation to the work done by Arvind Kejriwal. Actually, in the education and health sector, the Kejriwal Government has done a very good job.

Both the issues are directly related to the voter, so the Kejriwal government was able to succeed.

Voters of Delhi had supported the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, but the BJP has had to face defeat in the assembly elections. The BJP could not even touch the figure often in the Vidhan Sabha out of as many as seventy seats. In fact, even today the atmosphere of the twentiethcentury elections is seems captured by experienced and old leaders in politicians.

It is no longer easy to read the voter's mind. Whether it is the case of Section 370, the issue of Ram Mandir, NRC, NPR or Shaheen Bagh, all these cases should be seen to be ineffective in Delhi elections.

Once upon a time, BJP’s Madan Lal Khurana and Sushma Swaraj were the Nizams of this place. After this, Sheila Dixit ruled here for one and a half decades. The Kejriwal government has won by an overwhelming majority in his third innings, then Congress and the BJP need to think about what is the reason that even after a long gap they do not even register their weighty presence in Delhi which is called the heart of the country.

Delhi, which was once considered a BJP stronghold, the Congress not only returned with a veteran leader like Sheela Dixit but also occupied ‘Indraprasth’(Delhi) for fifteen years.

During her tenure, scams in the Commonwealth Games were experienced by the public with their eyes and the existence of the Congress continued to end here. Almost all the votes of the Congress went very easily in the bag of the Aam Aadmi Party.

According to the political experts, the political parties tried to polarize the voters through their poison-extinguished arrows, un-parliamentary language, petty comments, etc.

The voters here did not come under the influence of political leaders. Voters have rewarded based on the works respecting the good job done by the AAP Government. The core mantra of ‘Karm Pooja’(work is a duty) has emerged once again without any false and malicious polarization.

For the second time in Delhi's election results, the Aam Aadmi Party's expected success seems to underline that the people of Delhi are fully satisfied with the five-year tenure of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Arvind Kejriwal could be considered an experienced player in Indian politics.

If he was defeated, it was also possible to put a complete halt to his political career, but due to the wrong strategy of the Congress and BJP, he once again succeeded in retained power.

If seen, the Kejriwal government has held the pulse of the public. Kejriwal has understood very well what the general public wants. By giving everything free, once the election can be won, but again and again, the electoral stenography can hardly be crossed through it.

The strategists of Arvind Kejriwal's government focused on health matters which are directly related to the public.

Both the face and the fate of government hospitals in Delhi have changed drastically. The public started getting better health facilities. Apart from this, there was a lot of improvement in the field of education too.

Increasing presence in government schools is a sign that the Kejriwal government's education system has been appreciated by the people of Delhi.

Originally, education and health are considered to be first in basic facilities and both these cases were handled well by the Kejriwal government.

Apart from this, ‘Mohalla clinics’ were opened in Delhi by the Kejriwal government. CCTV cameras were installed, efforts were made to make chalk arrangements for the safety of women.

Marshals were appointed in the passenger buses and providing relief in case of an electric water Bill.

It may be that Congress and BJP have had feedback that a large number of people will be annoyed by the functioning of the Kejriwal government, so they will get the benefit of the anti-incumbency factor easily.

If we look at the election results, the Aam Aadmi Party government has incurred losses as compared to the last time, but there has not been such a loss that people were angry with the Kejriwal government. The attempt to fill the vacancy by the Congress and the BJP was not made with seriousness, due to which they could not make a dent in the vote

bank of AAP. The election results of Delhi have put forward a message to the people of this country which can be considered very important. The voters of Delhi have once again replied through the result that the kind of language used by the Congress and BJP leaders did not appeal to the voters, especially the youth.

Arvind Kejriwal was accused of all kinds of allegations, but Kejriwal was focused on the achievements of his government, he did not make rhetoric by making unwarranted accusations on any political leader. He did not make any allegations against the Prime Minister. He definitely benefited from this.

The BJP went on slipping from state to state. BJP had hoped from Delhi, but this hope was also lost as if the last hope.

Now Bihar is left only.

In Gujarat, the BJP was in a very difficult situation. Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand also slipped from the BJP's hand. Here, Congress also needs to think now. Congress and BJP will have to prepare a second line, otherwise one should not be surprised if the regional parties start moving fast in the coming time.

As if, the message goes from the district headquarters to the whole district.

Similarly, the movement of the state capital the functioning is decided in that state. Similarly, the message is broadcast in countrywide from its capital which is also termed as the Political capital country. After the Delhi election results, now what kind of message will spread across the country, perhaps the eyes of the policymakers of the Congress BJP are not yet known.

AAP ki Delhi Karamvir Kamal The voting date of last Feb 9 in the recent past had made complete preparation to apply current. Now it is up to the people of Delhi to decide whether they did caste vote in favor of a patriot political party or in favor of the party that provides everything free of cost for the livelihood in the national capital as if the party of Freebies.

The National Capital that comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs, had declared it’s election as Patriot vs Freebies.

Whatsapp university and other social media had started propaganda that the voter who does believe in freebies would caste vote to AAP but the real patriot would caste vote only to BJP. Where 'AAP' came out to ask for votes in return for its work, the BJP and other parties looked for votes on issues like Prime Minister Modi Ji, Kashmir, Shaheen Bagh, and Ram Mandir.

The interesting thing is that the Congress, which ruled for 15 consecutive years during the elections, did not mention what was expected in the election. Delhi assembly election was entirely Aam Aadmi Party vs BJP.

AAP’s hat-trick

On February 11, the election results triggered an alarm. But this current was not at Shaheen Bagh but the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

The Aam Aadmi Party registered an excellent victory in the elections.

Like last time, this election was also Aam Aadmi Party vs BJP. Congress was not at all in the race. It was a challenge for the Congress party to come back in this assembly election of Delhi 2020 but the party even could not manage to win one seat out of 70.

BJP fought this election in the name of patriotism and the conse-

quence was mere 3 seats. But the people of Delhi, who proved themselves, patriots, in the last Lok Sabha election, has voted in return of work done by the party in the assembly this time.

In this election, BJP also openly promoted Hindu vs Muslim. Indirectly, some big leaders of BJP were directly seen doing the politics of Hindu & Muslim. Many disputed statements of BJP leaders also unearthed in these elections.

However, after the election results, the BJP is saying, "We are not egoistic by victory and we are not disappointed by the defeat". However, BJP's performance was better than in 2015.

If you talk about the election campaign, then Amit Shah held more than 40 public meetings against more than 50 roadshows of the Aam Aadmi Party. At the same time, Rahul and Priyanka only did four rallies.

For campaigning, the BJP had fielded a large number of its MPs along with the Chief Ministers and Ministers of several states. Big leaders of BJP, including ministers, remained encamped in Delhi.

Amidst all this, what would have been the mantra for the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party? Certainly, the Aam Aadmi Party managed to grab votes and support of the people of Delhi due to it’s better to work in the field of education, health and fight against corruption. AAP won 62 out of 70 seats in this election. At the same time, the BJP got only 8 seats and Congress could not open its account even this time.

Shaheen Bagh and AAP

Whenever the discussion on the Delhi election results starts, there is the issue of demonstration in the Shaheen Bagh against the citizenship law.

Shaheenbagh has become a national issue. Shaheen Bagh has become an important place for Hindu

-Muslim politics. On behalf of the BJP, many leaders made controversial statements about Shaheen Bagh. Sometimes it seemed as if Shaheen Bagh was the center of Delhi's election.

In this episode, when interviewed in a private news channel, Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was asked questions on Shaheen Bagh, one of his answers gave the issue to the BJP. Manish was asked the question, "Where is the Aam Aadmi Party on Shaheen Bagh? In response, Manish said," I am with the people of Shaheen Bagh ". This statement of Manish Sisodia was made an election issue by BJP. The party controlled the damage to this statement of Manish Sisodia, after which Manish Sisodia started campaigning.

Apart from this, more than a year ago, Kejriwal changed his political strategy considerably. Kejriwal,

who has been cursing Modi on every matter, has shifted attention from Modi in the last several months and focused on his work.

And in the capital of the country, an election was shifted from religion politics to the work that the AAP Govt. has done.

Shaheenbagh has become a national issue. Shaheen Bagh has become an important place for Hindu -Muslim politics. On behalf of the BJP, many leaders made controversial statements about Shaheen Bagh. Sometimes It seemed as if Shaheen Bagh was the center of Delhi's election.

Delhi High Court’s notice to CBI, Center and Delhi Police in Gargi College case TAC News: The last few months were not so well for the students of the country. Police across the country are showing its strict form against college-goers. In the last few days, the police have charged the students with sticks. Whether it is the case of JNU or Aligarh Muslim University or it may be the case of Jamia University. The strictness of the police is visible only on students.

But in the case of Gargi College, where during the annual fest of the college, some outsiders came and raided the college campus who created ruckus and an unprecedented situation of mass molestation.

Sundaram Thakur, president of the Students' Union, said, "The incident took place on February 6 between four and five in the evening. There was a ban on the entry of men in this program but in the evening a

crowd gathered at the gate. The crowd started pushing the gate that broke the gate.

After this, almost 200 outsiders entered into the Gargi College. Many students are saying different things about what happened that day. It took a long time to control the situation that day. “ According to the report of Indian Express, a bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C. Harishankar of Delhi High Court issued notice to the Central Government, CBI and Delhi Police on the petition of petitioner advocate ML Sharma regarding this uneven mass molestation case inside the Gargi col-

lege campus in the presence of Delhi Police and security personnel.

The court has asked the Central Government, CBI and Delhi Police to file their reply by 30 April. College students allege that some outsiders forcibly entered the campus during the college fest and allegedly molested girls.

The students say that during their annual College Fest, some anti-socials forced into the campus forcibly and harassed them while the security personnel and policemen were standing alike mute spectators amid this unfortunate incident.

nearly 200 slums for two decades. They have been ordered by AMC to vacate the place as soon as possible.

The move came to limelight just a few days after the AMC started building a wall to cover the ‘Dev Saran slum’ that would come in the way when the US president shall visit the city.

the slum for years, 'AMC officers who come to give notice to us have asked to vacate as soon as possible. They told us that the President of America is coming to Motera Stadium and they want to remove us from here. ' The 45 families, who were given notice by the AMC's Estate and Town Development Department, are among the 65 families who live 1.5 kilometers away from the road to ‘Motera Stadium’ and the road connecting the stadium to the ‘Gandhinagar’ highway.

It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation had come up to build a wall in front of the slums situated on the road connecting the ‘Indira Bridge’ to ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’ International Airport.

It was said that this wall is being built so that the US President Donald Trump, who is visiting India, can not see these slums.

When asked about this, Mayor Bijal Patel simply expressed ignorance.

There is a democratic system in the country. Under this system, whoever is in power, appears to have closed their eyes completely when people of the country face immense trouble in their livelihood and some people sitting in the opposition are found as the only supporters of the public.

When the Congress comes in power, the BJP sitting in the opposition raises an eyebrow in terms of inflation, but when the BJP, itself comes to power, it does not see the Himalayan price rise and the Congress sitting in the opposition demands relief for the sake of public at large Amidst all this, people forget that the basic responsibility of curbing inflation which lies with the people sitting lavishly inside the power corridor.

The opposition should question in Parliament the weight of efforts are being made by the government to stop inflation. Ironically, in this case, governments show a juggernaut of data and the opposition remains silent even after knowing the facts of the ground.

The graph of inflation in the country is increasing year after year putting each year a new milestone in this regard.

There was a time when ten five paise coins were valued, now no one is asking for the coins. The fifty rupee note is also being considered very small. If you get out of the house then it is common to spend five hundred rupees by evening per day.

The reason for this is that the prices of everything are skyrocketing. Lack of means of employment and disappearance of Jobs.

The income of the shopkeepers is also very

less than before. The big question has arisen as to how the general public should deal with inflation under these circumstances.

The National Statistical Organization (NSO) of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation has released industrial production figures. After seeing these, it seems that governments have not paved the way towards increasing industrial production. Even though it has recorded a decline of 0.3 percent, the figures can be considered worrisome.

In January this year, the graph of inflation has increased rapidly. Prices of vegetables, groceries, oil, etc. are touching the sky. Recently, the price of LPG without subsidy has been increased by one hundred and fifty rupees. This is considered to be the highest increase until now.

During the rainy season, onions made people cry. Meanwhile, tomato prices again caught under fire. It is natural to create anger and dissatisfaction within the public due to the need for daily necessities. Even the crocodile tears of the opposition are not able to apply ointment to the wounds of the public.

If the public is crying tears of blood today, it will not be an exaggeration.

This is being expressed by the Reserve

Bank of India. He did not cut the policy rates so that there would be a fire in inflation somewhere. Seeing the way inflation is rising, it seems that the government is also looking helpless in front of it.

If you look at the data of NSO, inflation in January was 7.59 percent, while in December of 2019 it was 7.35 percent. Whereas in the previous year i.e. December of 2018, this figure was just 1.97%.

If we look at the figures, it becomes clear that in one year, this rate has increased to 5.38 percent, which can be considered sufficient for the concern as per the economic point of view. Similarly, if we look at the figures of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, it is clear that the wholesale inflation, which was 3.1 percent in January, was 2.59 percent in December 2019. These are the figures on which neither the government nor the parties sitting in opposition have any free time to discuss them.

If seen, the opposition should start a nationwide debate through such data, surrounding the government on the issue of inflation. The opposition should ask the ruling party in the parliament that what kind of efforts the government is making to curb inflation.

Ministers are said to bring thousands of jobs, but seeing the number of unemployed at the grassroots level, it seems that a lot of rhetoric is being done by governments. And there are no more jobs coming, but people are definitely under the world of the lost hope.

Today, the common man has no more money according to his needs. If people do not have money according to their needs, then the real economic crisis knocks the door of every once.

Government of India has taken a serious note of the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus in China and has also taken various measures to monitor the situation in relates to this virus led disease in India.

Eventually after the report of huge number of cases were recorded in Wuhan City of Hubei province in China, Government of India stepped in and initiated approaches to evacuate students and professionals working in Hubei province. As per the latest report, 645 persons were evacuated and have been kept in two Quarantine Centres, [(243 kept at Manesar (DG, AFMS) and 402 Chawla Camp (ITBP)]. The samples collected from all evacuees have tested negative. All evacuees are being monitored and consequently are clinically stable too.

Still now three confirmed cases of novel Coronavirus disease have been reported from the state of Kerala in India. All these causalities have been hospitalized, receiving treatment and are also reported to be clinically perfect and stable.

Screening of all passengers has been started at all 21 airports. Universal screening has been made compulsory for all flights from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Appropriate instructions have been issued to park these flights at earmarked aero-bridges to facilitate a perfect screening to all the passengers.

The government has organized a special training for the officers of ports, airports and border crossing points and has sensitized them on management of higher risk pathogens such as Ebola and Coronavirus.

Thermal scanners and hand held thermal detectors have been placed at 21 airports along with other needed requirements like doctors, nurses and paramedic staff at the airports for an effective and convenient screening of passengers.

World Health Organization (WHO) also has issued various guidelines pertaining to nCoV outbreak those are available on the website of WHO. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has issued proper guidelines to support states on Surveillance and contact tracing, Surveillance at Points of Entry, Laboratory samples collection, packaging, transport in addition to Clinical management protocol and Infection prevention along with control in healthcare facilities.

Patriotism: Dalit military personnel prevented to ride on the mare

Unlike politics, it is the face of today's India that shows that our thinking is narrowing day by day. We have not matured mentally yet even in this 21st century.

This incident is from ‘Sharifda’ village in ‘Banaskantha’ district. Amid police security, some upper caste people allegedly stoned the procession to prevent the Dalit youth from riding on the mare, injuring three people including some

women.

According to the report of Indian Express, the police said that this incident took place in ‘Sharifda’ village of ‘Banaskantha’ around 11 am.

It was the marriage of ‘Akash Kumar Kotia’ (22), a soldier of the military wing. Akash, who belongs to the Dalit community, has recently finished training in Bengaluru. He was to be posted in Meerut. He had to marry so he was on leave for a few days.

According to Akash's elder brother Vinay Kotia, "First we received threats from some people of the Thakur community that if the groom (Akash)

will ride on the mare, they would not let them allow to have their marriage procession. When we demanded police protection, the police sent six to seven policemen for security in the procession but as soon as the program started, some people started throwing stones at the procession. The groom narrowly survived and was taken to a police control room van. However, three of our relatives including two women have been injured in this incident.

Dalpat Bhatia, a Dalit rights activist from ‘Banaskantha’, said, '50 to 60 policemen were engaged in the security of the

procession so that the groom and other people associated with the procession could reach the bride's village. This is how this marriage took place. ' Taking cognizance of the complaint of the groom's family, an FIR has been lodged against 11 people of the ‘Thakur Koli community’ in the police station of ‘Banaskantha’.

The accused have been identified as ‘Senji Koli’, ‘Shivaji Koli’, ‘Deepak Koli’, ‘Tushar Koli’, ‘Bhavan Koli’, ‘Vinod Koli’, ‘Ramji Koli’, ‘Deepak Ishwar Koli’, ‘Bai Koli’, ‘Manju Koli’ and ‘Jeetu Koli’.

According to media reports, in a show here, a mother was introduced to her daughter with virtual reality, who had died in 2016.

Inter-faith dialogue need of the hour

NEW DELHI: At a time when there is so much hatred in the world, inter-faith dialogue is essential for creating cordial relations with people of all religions. To this end, Institute of Harmony and Peace Studies (IHPS) organized a session “Fellowship of Religions” in New Delhi. A book with the same title was also released on the occasion.

Speaking on the subject, main speaker Padma Bhushan Prof. T K Oommen, Professor Emeritus, Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, said, there is a need to move from hierarchisation of religion to horizontalisation of religion. He also stressed the need to have fellowship first to accept the identity of religion.

“Spirituality should be experiential and not experimental,” said Prof M H Qureshi, former Professor and A M Khwaja chair, Jamia Millia Islamia. Stressing on the need to have inter-faith dialogue, he said this will also help understanding or remove misunderstanding about religion.

He also said that spirituality should

be experiential and not experimental.

Prof. Deepali Bhanot, former professor, Delhi University, said interreligious collaboration is essential for social harmony. During natural calamities, religious communities or organizations should come forward to help people of all faiths.

“Love towards others” should be the motto. She also said that on such occasions youth should also be involved.

“Fellowship of religions,” as a phrase, admittedly, is fairly a new concept for the religious world and it brings to light a meaningful, elevated and a pleasing idea, and therefore, a well welcome idea too.

among people of diverse traditions of faith, ideologies and civilizations and for that matter, even among people who claim no religion, has been prevailing in the world from time immemorial, in some way or other. Definitely, various modes of relations, even exchange of views, among groups and communities of religious, ethnic and social affiliations were very much present in India too.

The contributors to this book are prominent scholars and leaders of all communities, whose inspiring and noteworthy messages as well as informative and enlightening articles make up the valuable resource of this book.

Dincharya – Science Of Daily Routine

In his “Elegy Writen in a country churchyard”, Thomas Gray wrote the famous line, “Far Far from the madding crowd’s ignoble strife, Their sober wishes never learned to stray..” which talks about the simple life of the village people which is free of stress and worries and is more peaceful and healthy due to the life conditions they have. This later became the title of one of Thomas Hardy’s novels where he showed the wrong effects of industrialization on humanity which were the result of the shifting of people from the simple village to complex and demanding city life which eventually affects their health. In modern contemporary writing, Kshitij Dabhade’s “Dincharya, science of daily routine” is one such attempt to remind the reader of Gray’s

line.

In his short but beautifully written book, Dabhade has attempted to take an Indian to his/her roots and strongly and appropriately attempts to remind every person of the forgotten rich culture and heritage of his country in general and hindu religion in particular.

Without politicizing the religious aspects, he takes up the task of explaining religion in terms of science or as he states it himself, the religion which evolved from science.

Through his writing, the author has attempted to raise concerns over the unhealthy life style of human beings due to the demanding nature of their respective fields and also their own lethargy and negligence. He keeps the narrator unnamed in order to make any person identify with him and relate himself/herself to him and trace his or her unhealthy habits through him. The habits and lifestyle he follows are more or less the same which an average city individual follows. The narrator lives in the busy city and follows a mundane routine. He has achieved success in terms of running a successesful business and earning good money. But he lacks the peace of mind which actually is the key to happiness which anyone feels from inside. Thereafter, on visiting his village the actual turn of events happens.

The author attempts to practically explain the effects and importance of following the “Dincharya” which was followed by ancient people but has been discarded and ignored by most of the people owing to the powerful effect of western culture and also years of colonization. He explains it through the words of a guru who is an emblem of knowledge and has answers to every possible question the

narrator could ask.

The reader is reminded of the irony of the situation that the same western society people who have casted their effect and marginalized the original Indian culture are adopting and practicing ancient Indian ways of living by studying Indian culture and scriptures.

Undoubtedly, the author himself has done commendable research work before writing the book and has written it almost flawlessly and effortlessly. He artistically uses the gurushishya (teacher- disciple) narrative to convey his thought. He achieves two targets by using this narrative style.On the one hand he takes the reader to the roots of Indian culture and heritage and on the other hand he reminds the reader about the forgotten relationship which was most regarded and respectable at one point of time.

The book contains some very important secrets to a healthy and peaceful life which every person irrespective of religion should follow. Dabhade does begin with the idea of a hindu learning about his tradition but explains how Hinduism is less of a religion and more of a science as every act done has a scientific explanation. Other than that, later the guru takes his shishya beyond the realms of religion to understand how a few practices will only promote a healthy lifestyle for him, peace to his mind and a better, smoother life ahead.

For all the people who do not know the cultural values of Indian culture, this book is more like a guide to a better life. For those who have some idea, perhaps this book can add on to their knowledge further. This book is not a conventional story but a practical book with systems that can be followed and

Isn’t it an irony that a society which boasts of its sophistication still considers prostitution a necessary evil? The society of this so-called intellects and optimates have a biased view whenever there is a talk on sex workers. Indeed! They feel their moral responsibility to talk about their betterment and at the same time feel privileged to have a biased view towards them as they are the so-called cultured and respected clan of the society.The society which boasts of human rights even on petty issues deny them from the basic need of healthcare and support from the law enforcers being stucked in a dungeon. A world in itself which is already burdened with the stigmatization, even from their loved ones hardly think upon to be at the receiving end of equality and the basic rights which we consider an important ingredient of an egalitarian and liberal soci-

ety. And the sole reason is our dual mentality!

In a country where more than 8,00,000 sex workers are working in this dungeon according to the National AIDS Control Organization, we can understand the plight as its an open secret that the unofficial numbers would be surely much higher.

Different women have different reasons to be in this profession and even almost half of them consider to give it a halt owing to the stigma attached with it. The life of a sex worker is always a bouquet of mystery and the author have done ample research to unravel their life, struggle, agony, wrath and god knows what else. A discrepancy of a civilized society deserves a thorough attention, and we would expect that the author would come with such more sensible masterpieces which could create a positive impact in the society.

How the National issues don’t work into the state elections?

How could BJP not able to refrain itself to address the National issues in a state election, despite giving more importance to regional issues, like water, electricity, infrastructure, ecology, environment, etc..??

How BJP has to develop a soft Hindutava approach in the state election, rather than using the Narratives of ultra-Nationalism.?

How Kejriwal developed an ideological counter to BJP? As the BJP played up the CAA card and built a campaign high on the issues of nationalism with religious overtones while Mr. Kejriwal realized he would have to do more than stay silent on CAA. He would have to take a stand. And so very cleverly without talking Shaheen Bagh, he talked Pakistan. He visited the Hanuman temple, recited the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ during interviews and went to cast his vote with a tilak (religious mark) on his forehead after taking his blessings from his parents, in full glare in front of TV cameras, again with a very déjà-vu move.

In this Assembly Election of 2020, he was no longer Modi’s fiercest critic. Kejriwal decided to carve an identity of his own and one that was based on his positive marks rather than someone else’s negatives. Sometime in July last year, when he announced tirth yatra (pilgrimage) freebies for the elderly, AAP workers began to refer to him as ‘Delhi Ka Shravan Kumar’.

The party projected him as if a caring-shar-

ing sort of son who looks after the elderly within his reigning territory.

While these moves had the liberals worried, Kejriwal’s supporters immediately understood his game plan. Arvind knows that Shaheen Bagh will not cut any ice with the voters. “ What he is trying to ensure is that the Hindu voter should not be divided into these lines,” says Ashutosh, a former AAP leader and founder, Satyahindi.com.

Adding, “Don’t forget he got 67 seats last elections, 84% of Delhi’s population is Hin-

dus. They must have voted for him as well.

Why should he let that votes get divided? We got flabbergasted that he is reading ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. But he knows where his voter is. He also knows that the Muslim voter will not vote for BJP or waste its vote on Congress.”

So instead of falling into the BJP’s trap and hot-footing it to Shaheen Bagh, Kejriwal carved a niche for himself—in the right of center.

He realized that Congress had abdicated the middle ground where there was a void that

needed to be filled and so he slowly but surely moved from the left (with his freebies and subsidies) towards the right.

Rama Lakshmi, the Opinion Editor at The Print explains, “AAP ran a campaign that was carefully choreographed to capture the rightof-center political space. Much of the Left ecosystem that shapes the anti-Modi narrative lives in Delhi. But he chose to ignore their issues and concerns in recent years. He deliberately avoided going to JNU, praised Balakot airstrikes, supported Article 370 dilution, and did not visit Shaheen Bagh even once. By doing all this he moved right-of-center, from the left of center space that he had situated himself with free electricity, water and bus rides.”

The Editor adds, “This is why I call him an ideological gymnast. He is a pragmatic, postideology politician. Whether this will make AAP into a ‘catch-all’ party in the mold of Indira Gandhi or it ends up displeasing every section is something 11 February will reveal.”

Kejriwal won Delhi and in the future course of time he will not only score an electoral win but he will also have to be successfully experimented with an ideological counter to take on the BJP’s hyped up right-wing narrative.

It could be the game-changer that the opposition is looking for eagerly.

Why does every time, such an embarrassing incident happen despite the presence of the security personnel?

Why the administration does not take any action on time?

Why law and order are not strictly enforced?

Is not the administration of such Institutions accountable?

The occurrence of such a shameful incident in the annual celebration of a women’s college also raises many questions on the internal administration of the college, on which proper investigation and action are neces-

sary. Why the college executive did not take any action on this issue?

All the students in our nation’s schools and colleges are the real future of this country and if these school and college-goers are not safe under the nose of law and order that to in the city which is the national capital then it is loud and clear to justify that the country’s future is dark.

This is a matter of concern. In time, if law and order are not strictly implemented and the younger generation is not kept away from political manipulation, then no development is possible. Increasing unemployment in the country needs to strengthen in this era of kneeling economic system.

There is a need for a good education system that can provide the right direction to the youths to reach their destination as per their wish and will.

Haryana Governor Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya said that Haryana has been honoured with a Commendation Award (Krishi Karman Award) for enhanced promotion and production of oilseeds. The award was presented by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on January 2, 2020.

Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya who was delivering his address on the first day of Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today said that his Government has with a renewed mandate been working on all fronts.

He said that a record procurement of 6.19 lakh metric tonnes mustard was done during marketing season 2019-20. Besides 13,156 metric tonnes of sunflower was also procured. The entire payment at Minimum Support Prices for these crops was made directly into the accounts of the farmers.

The Governor said that to ensure complete transparency in procurement, all efforts are being made to procure maximum quantity of crops through Farmer Registration Portal - Meri Fasal Mera Byora which utilizes four parameters, namely self-entry by farmers, e-Girdawari, verification by agriculture extension officers and authentication through satellite imagery. More than 6.40 lakh farmers have been registered in this mode for the ongoing Rabi season so far.

24 hours electricity under Mahara Gaon Jagmag Gaon scheme

While directing the officers of the Power Department, Haryana Chief Secretary Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora said that maximum number of villages should be covered under the Mahara Gaon Jagmag Gaon scheme so as to provide 24 hours power supply in all the villages throughout the state. She further directed the officers to accelerate the work of installing smart meters in the cities.

The Chief Secretary gave these directions while presiding over the 12th meeting of the committee constituted for UDAY scheme monitoring held here today.

Directing the officers, the Chief

Secretary said that maximum smart meters should be installed to reduce the losses. Apart from this, more focus should be laid on the promotion of solar power. She further directed that the consumer redressal system should be strengthened and a special officer should be appointed for the same so that consumers can get the benefit of government facilities in a timely and hassle-free manner.

The Chief Secretary was appraised that Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has set a target of installing 5 lakh smart meters by each Nigams and

under this 1 lakh smart meters have already been installed in Gurugram, Karnal, and Panipat, while the work of installing the meters in Panchkula is going on.

The officers said that the work of installing smart meters in the remaining districts will soon be completed.

It was informed that this year too, the Power Nigams have reduced the AT&C losses by 2 percent and today both the Nigams are in a profitable position and in the previous years too, the power Nigams have recorded a huge decline in line losses.

The Officers informed that

under the Mahara Gaon Jagmag Gaon scheme, 4463 villages are being provided 24-hour power and efforts would be made for the remaining villages to be covered under this scheme so as to provide 24-hour power supply across the state.

It was also informed that the list of 4463 villages covered under the Mahara Gaon Jagmag Gaon scheme has been shared with the School Education Department and with the help of this list; now the School Education Department will implement the process of installing computers in schools in these villages.

Affordable housing, logistics to get a boost from Sovereign Wealth Funds

Mumbai: The measures announced recently in the Union Budget granting 100% tax exemption on interest, dividend and capital gains income to Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) investing in infrastructure, will further help boost investments in affordable housing and logistics, says JLL Research. India seems to have gained a major impetus following some positive policy backing and the ecosystem in general thus helping boost the image of the country as a favorite with SWFs. Sovereign Wealth Funds are stateowned investment funds commonly established with revenues generated from trade surpluses, central bank reserves, currency operations, privatisations and transfer payments.

Between 2008 -18, global Assets Under Management (AUM) of SWFs grew at a CAGR of 10% with Asia garnering the highest share (42%).

“Sovereign wealth funds have been playing a pivotal role in in-

Investments by SWFs improved sharply as various policy measures were introduced to attract foreign investments. In India, SWFs hold USD 29 billion of Assets Under Custody (AUC) as of December 2019. Of these, real estate and ware-

housing account for 22% of the AUC, amounting to USD 6.6 billion.

“SWF Investments quadrupled to USD 5.3 billion during 2014-19 from USD 1.3 billion recorded between 2005 and 2013, due to various reforms introduced in the Real estate sector. Going forward we expect more traction from this type of patient capital,’ said Dr Samantak Das, Chief Economist and ED, JLL India.

The Union Budget for 2020 further incentivizes SWFs to invest in infrastructure by providing them a 100% tax exemption on interest, dividend and capital gains income in respect of investment made in infrastructure and other notified sectors before 31st March, 2024 with a minimum lock-in period of 3 years.

The resultant increase in potential returns is expected to boost investments by SWFs in affordable housing and logistics & warehousing which have been accorded infrastructure status.

NEW DELHI: Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Railways, Govt of India, today said that in order to promote the Make in India program, industry must adopt international quality standards and scale up production to remain globally competitive.

Speaking at 'DPIIT-FICCI Partnership Forum on Public Procurement for Make in India', organised

by FICCI and DPIIT, Mr Goyal said, "We will have to align ourselves with the world standards.

We want imports to be curbed and international quality standards have to be adopted both for domestic industry and imports."

Highlighting the US-China trade dispute, Mr Goyal said, "There are sectors in which India has competitive advantage and let us start looking at scale. Commerce ministry and DPIIT should identify these sectors and make it publicly available to see the business opportunities to exploit."

He urged the industry and DPIIT to identify the bottlenecks acting as deterrent so that Make in India can be successful. He also urged the industry, especially PSUs and large companies to start paying advance to vendors at the time of delivery of goods which will help the MSME sector. "DPIIT should identify 100 PSUs and 250 private companies to start the process and we will monitor to see how many companies take it forward," Mr Goyal added.

Commerce & Industry Minister also emphasised on the need to change and expand the current basket of exports to achieve the $1 trillion target. "The basket is changing but it is not changing fast enough.

Can we collectively look at changing our basket of exports to include more value added products. Import substitution or exports, both are equally important." Mr Goyal also stressed upon the need to adopt latest technologies like AI and machine learning in manufacturing sector in order to become value added producers to change the basket of exports.

Mr Goyal said that the government has identified few champion sectors like textiles, fisheries and IT, to expand and become a world leader in exports. He added that we need to identify sectors in manufacturing and services also. "All of us should get out of the mindset of subsidies. It is decremental to India's long-term growth," he added.

He further highlighted that in order to promote the domestic industry for high quality products, government will layout roadmap to phase out imported manufactured goods.

To further promote the business and reduce bottlenecks, Mr Goyal said that industry should also become whistle blowers. "I want more of you (industry) to become whistle blowers and we want to change all this," he added.

Mr Som Prakash, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Govt of India while laying the roadmap of increasing exports said, "The challenge is to ensure that the maximum procurements by different ministries are done through Government e-Marketplace (GeM)."

Mr Talleen Kumar, CEO, GeM while highlighting how GeM facilitates the growth of startups and the effective implementation of PPPMII and PPP-MSE policies said, "We are moving towards a unified procurement system for products and services to have single portal instead of multiple portals.

Canvassing data of housing listing and census

The first phase of Census2021 in Haryana, i.e houselisting operations and housing Census will be conducted from May 1, 2020, to June 15, 2020. Around 58000 enumerators and supervisors would be deployed for canvassing data.

This information was shared in the State- Level Conference of Divisional, Deputy Commissioners and Principal Census Officers to review the preparedness for Census 2021 and updation of NPR held under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Secretary Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora here today. Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, Mr. Vivek Joshi also present in the meeting.

Described census as one of the most credible source of information regarding the socio-cultural and demographic data, the Chief Secretary said that it is very important that the data on census should be very reliable and since the entire process of the census is very time-bound therefore all the concerned officers should ensure that all the procedure should be completed within the stipulated time period i.e from May 1, 2020 to June 15, 2020.

She said that for the first time in history, Census data will be collected digitally.

She said that this dynamic

census will certainly helps the State in getting data analytics at the right time for policy formation. She further directed that publicity has to be planned very meticulously and dedicated efforts should be made for the mass publicity so that the State people can be made aware of the same.

It was informed that the first phase of the Census i.e.

Houselisting and Housing Census has been notified for conduct in Haryana from May 1, 2020 to June 15, 2020. During houselisting operations, questions on the quality of houses, amenities available to households and assets possessed by the households will be canvassed. The second phase i.e.

Population Enumeration will be conducted from February 9, 2021, to February 28, 2021, with a revisional round from March 1 to 5, 2021.

Further, in Haryana, around 58000 enumerators and supervisors would be deployed for canvassing data. The training of Tehsildars cum Charge Officers is proposed to be held at the district level from February 19 to March 4, 2020, which would be followed by training of around 900 field trainers in March 2020. These trained field trainers will further train the Enumerators and Supervisors in April, 2020.

The noted dress designer presented the fashion show based on Himachali costuming. The folk troupe of Chamba district also presented the cultural programme on this occasion.

The Chief Secretary also visited the craft fair and evinced keen interest in the exhibition put up by the state Tourism department and the stalls of various Himachali products. He also visited the Apna Ghar constructed in a traditional manner and replica of Bhima Kali temple.

He stated that it is for the first time that the census is being conducted in digital mode and codification of responses would go a long way in timely release of data. Census data would be captured through specially designed mobile apps. It is for the first time that all the Census activities and progress would be monitored on real-time basis through the Census Monitoring and Management System (CMMS).

Mr. Joshi said that for the Census 2021 no documents will be asked from the citizens. Citizens will be asked to give the answers to only a few questions. He said that while doing the census, the Chief Census Officer should keep in mind that only those questions should be asked from the Citizens which are included in the pre-set questionnaire. He said that the personal data collected during the census will be confidential.

The website of the Directorate of Census Operations, Haryana was also launched on this occasion. The website has all the census circulars, notifications, FAQs and other important communications with regard to the census exercise.

Diet allowance of sportspersons to be increased

Haryana CM has approved the proposal to increase the diet-allowance of sportspersons participating in state and national-level school sports competitions.

While giving information about this, Haryana Education Minister Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the diet allowance of sportspersons participating in state-level school sports competition will be increased from Rs. 125 to Rs. 200 per day and for the players who participate in the national-level competition the allowance will be increased from Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 per day. He said that the purpose of increasing the diet allowance is to provide a nutritious diet to the players.

The Education Minister said that the sportspersons of Haryana have been dominating in competition like, Khelo India, Asian, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games. Haryana has made it to the second place in KheloIndia in the last two years despite being a small state. He informed that the state government is providing facilities to students by developing interest in sports at the school level.

He said that sports are a part of every person's life and it is like food for the body. Just like food intake provides nutrition and energy to the body, sports help students ease-out mental burden and physical fatigue.

Education Minister Mr. Kanwar Pal said that the dietary allowance of sportspersons has been increased by the present state government, it will provide a wholesome diet to the players and their performance in sports will improve.
