Are our little friends being pushed to the edge of extinction?
issue
TAC Feature Input- Samachar Agency of India
Oh, little sweetheart…. this is a line of a song. But if you would like to understand it deeply, then it has a watchful weight in today's time. Superstar Rajni Kant's recent film 2.o was based on the importance of birds in human life. This film explained in a very good way that birds are as important to our lives as food for us. According to recent news, Pakistan is troubled by some special insects these days. These insects are spoiling the crops of Pakistan. The problem has become so high that these grasshoppers (insects) attack in Pakistan has been declared as an agricultural emergency. Now let's talk about the importance of birds. So birds have become necessary not only for the film but also for Pakistan. As per a report, China is giving one lakh ducks to Pakistan to deal with these insects those wiping out a huge amount of cultivated crops. Experts behind the scheme of sending ducks believe that a duck can eat two hundred grasshoppers a day and they are more effective than pesticides. However, according to reports, some researchers have also questioned this plan. It is not that only Pakistan is troubled by Grasshoppers. In some parts of India, crops are being destroyed by the swarm of Grasshoppers. According to reports, tens of millions of locusts are also licking crops in East Africa. If we talk about India, birds of various species are found in India. The sudden decrease in the number of these birds can be considered a matter of concern. Which may create an ecological and environmental imbalance? According to a United Nations report on migratory birds of India can be considered very frightening. This figure of extinction is expected to increase further in the future course of time. If seen, the way the environment is being damaged by humans for their selfishness does appear to have less time for various birds to exist in this eternal world. For this, there is a great need to create a conducive environment for birds to live on their lives in our country for which all of our State and Central Government need to be alert but not let as lax. Not long ago, when the disappearance of ‘House Sparrow’ in the country, had gone a screaming situation by our environmentalists including the concerned government. In 2008, Late Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Sheela Dixit also had had the grief over this issue of extinction of ‘House Sparrow’ in Delhi. After that, everything became normal. While celebrating World Sparrow Day, on March 20, there is a concern about this. As per an agreement by the United Nations with India concerning the migratory birds,867 kinds of species of Indian birds have been studied and analyzed. This report should not be taken lightly by our Government.
In this report, data has been studied for more than twenty-five years. In this, it was found that 261 species of birds have recorded descending that is more than 52% decrease. Besides, when the data is viewed in
a shortt e r m context, eighty percent of 146 species have been recorded as decreased species. According to this report, due to tampering with the environment, it has had the highest impact on the migratory sea birds. The 75 percent reduction in the Western Ghats can also be considered a concern. The positive aspect of this report has also been revealed that the number of the national bird, peacocks of the country has also been increased drastically. According to this report, the number of ‘House Sparrow’ has decreased in the cities but above all its number has
not decreased so much. This concern cannot be considered only for India, almost a million species around t h e world are on t h e verge of extinction. Many misfortunes stand before the migratory birds. The rapid rise in temperature is believed to be the biggest reason. In line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, stringent steps are not being taken by the governments of the countries for the negative conduct of industrial policies and industries. At the same time, protecting them from predators of birds is a big challenge. Concrete steps also need to be
taken to stop the illegal trade of birds. More than three billion birds went missing in North America. If a report published in a sciencebased magazine about five months ago is to be considered true, then birds make the environment better, their tweet makes the mind cheerful, but humans can be considered com-
2
pletely ignorant of this danger. Whenever such figures are revealed, the unprecedented competition started by NGOs and governments showing their love for these unfortunate birds. After a few days, everything starts to become normal as if nothing would have happened. As the area of forests is decreasing and the concrete forests are standing on empty places in the cities, so are the trees being cut down. If the trees will no longer there, then where will the birds make their nests! With the increasing population, the area of the garden is also shrinking. Trees in people's residential buildings have also been destroyed. Indiscriminate felling of forests has severely affected the birds' habitats. Apart from this, the waves emanating from mobile towers are also not less than a threat to them. Warnings have been issued several times in this regard, but these warnings also sound like warnings written on tobacco products. One more thing to note down is that when poison like pollution has affected humans, then the effect of it on relatively sensitive birds can be easily gauged. We remain unaware of even knowing this better and clear. It is evident from all of these reports that if the number of birds is decreasing rapidly, then in the coming time it will not be less than any major crisis for humans. There is still time to aware and warn people across the globe about all the concerned causes of Global warming and climate change which eventually creates very dangerous situation moments of ecological imbalance and environmental degradation, world wide.
Delhi Violence: Differences in Brothers 3
|| Anjan K Samal
The particular place at Maujpur Chowk in the national capital, from where Kapil Mishra, AAP’s slapped BJP leader warned the agitators of CAA with the ultimatum in the presence of Delhi police on last February 23 seems the epic center of Delhi-Riot. From where Mr. Mishra warned "We are going now till Donald trump’s India tour ends, but after that, we will not listen to anybody including Delhi Police. If the paths meant for public convenience will not empty, then we must come back.” Apart from this, ’Hindu Sena’ another radical Hindu outfit warned by giving an ultimatum to clear the path. These are some hate statements that tell the whole story of violence in themselves. The irresponsible statements of Kapil Mishra that he uttered in front of a senior officer of Delhi Police if would have taken seriously at that time by the concerned authorities than such unwanted violence could not have occurred that fractured the united brotherhood in the national capital of India. It is not just about Kapil Mishra. During the Delhi elections, some BJP leaders knowingly voiced religious slogans targeting a particular religion which should not be termed only as of the part of the election but it also reflects the ill mindsets of our present leaders. BJP put forward Hindutva and promoted the politics of vote in the name of religion in the last Assembly election in Delhi. The result of which did spread the unfortunate violence in Delhi. That slogan of Pravesh Verma, “desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maaro ... “ is also a prime reason behind the Delhi riots which the government and appropriate concerned authorities may or may not justify. Till the riots, the mental state of Delhites was cooked with such an atmosphere that deteriorated faith and brotherhood between two communities living in Delhi. The riot ignited when Trump, the most powerful man in the worlds was on a tour of India. In the Delhi riots, very terrible pictures of violence have come to limelight. In these riots, all the ‘Laxman Rekha’ of Humanity and Human Rights crossed. The people who have suffered the riots are now telling those horrifying days of Delhi’s riots ridden moments.
How did the riots ignite?
Demonstrations were going on in various parts of Delhi for the last several days to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Apart from Shaheen Bagh, people were protesting in Jafrabad, Kar-
Faridabad (NCR) 01-15 March, 2020 www.theasianchronicle.com
dampuri, Chand Bagh, Khajuri Khas, Wazirabad and Yamuna Vihar areas. On Saturday-Sunday, 23 Feb, the protesters in Zafarabad moved away from the service lane and sat under a flyover nearby the metro station. The atmosphere worsened when former MLA and BJP leader Kapil Mishra, along with some people in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act, availed their angry presence at Maujpur, about a kilometer away from Zafrabad. After this, there were reports of clashes between CAA supporters and those who were protesting. Recorded videos were shared on social media, raising slogans from both sides. The atmosphere started to get worse from Monday, 24 February, when some people sat at the Maujpur Chowk in support of the citizenship law. After this, people also took to the streets in protest against the citizenship law at the Kabir Nagar area. Around 10 pm stonepelting began to take place among the people gathered at Maujpur Chowk and Kabir Nagar. This sequence continued till one o'clock in the day. Private residential buildings and religious sites were also attacked in Jafrabad, Gokulpuri, and Bhajanpura amid stone-pelting. Amid deteriorating conditions, head constable Ratanlal was injured in Gokulpuri due to bullet and stone injuries, who died during treatment in the hospital. And DCP Shahdara Amit Sharma was injured and taken to the hospital.
When Delhi reverberated with religious slogans
Amidst the violence, the slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Nara-e-Takbir' and 'Allah-Hu-Akbar' were nothing but these slogans worked as if the panic button the ignited the riots further. Hearing these slogans, people were forced to lurk in their homes and panic did spread several residential areas.
PM's peace appeal
During these riots, no public leader came forward to communicate with the people. It was the common complaint of the common people that if a big leader, a parliamentarian, an MLA could reach out among their people, they could have been prevented from spreading the riot. About 3 days after the riots started, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for peace. The PM tweeted and wrote, "Peace and harmony is our basic spirit. I appeal to the brothers and sisters of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is very important that the conditions are normal and peace should be restored at the earliest." Congress President Sonia Gandhi sought the resignation of Home
Minister, Amit Shah. She also alleged that the violence in Delhi was the result of a ‘Pre-planned Intrigue’.
Delhi Police surrounded by many questions
The riots that broke out in Delhi within such a little span that put every Delhite under astonishment. Delhi Police that canned vigorously on the silent protesters of JNU and JAMIA was found silent as if a mute spectator. It’s the reason for which Delhi Police was also accused of not taking the right action at the right time to prevent the riots, which even the police rejected. Many such videos came out in which Delhi Police was seen supporting some rioters. The rioters were throwing stones in front of the police and the police became a silent spectator. The video of the vandalism of Delhi Police also gone viral, in which Delhi Police personnel were beating 4 boys on the road and directing them for singing the national anthem. One of them also has died. The deceased family has accused the police of discrimination and deliberate killing. Apart from this, some videos have also surfaced in social media, in which the police themselves have been seen providing instructions to the rioters for stone-pelting. Delhi High Court and Supreme Court also strictured that the police did not work professionally. There was no need to wait for someone's order for action for the sake of restoration of the law and order...
High court intervention that ceased violence?
The Delhi High Court was the first to initiate cooling of Delhi when it was burning in the fire of riots and
cover story
communal violence. In the Delhi High Court, Justice S. Muralidhar and Justice Anoop Bhumbani heard a petition late night in connection with the Delhi violence and ordered instantly for the necessary treatments of the victims. The petition filed by human rights lawyer Surur Mander was heard even at the residence of Justice S. Muralidhar during the midnight. Surur Mander had pleaded with the court in his petition that the Delhi Police should ensure that the injured could be taken from AlHind Hospital in Mustafabad to GTB Hospital and other government hospitals so that they could get the necessary treatment. Justice Muralidhar heard the matter late at around 12:30. The bench of Muralidhar and Justice Talwant Singh heard another petition. This petition was filed by social activist Harsh Mander, in which police action was demanded on the provocative speeches of the leaders. After the hearing, the High Court reprimanded the Delhi Police for not taking action against other BJP leaders, including Kapil Mishra, in the case of inflammatory speeches. The High Court directed in this midnight hearing that FIRs should be registered against three BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma, and Kapil Mishra. The court said that FIRs should also be registered based on other videos. The High Court said that FIRs should be registered against three BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma, and Kapil Mishra. The court said that FIRs should also be registered on the basis videos surfaced during the riots. After this, Justice Muralidhar was transferred to Haryana High Court with immediate effect.
Could the police stop the riots?
The Supreme Court had questioned the functioning of Delhi Police and urged that Delhi Police did not professionally do its work. Police do not need anyone's order for the sake of maintaining law and order. This comment of the Supreme Court becomes very important at a time when the Delhi Police was being viewed with suspicion. 1984: Sanjay Suri, who wrote the book about The Anti Sikh Riots, has told the BBC that the role of Delhi Police in the violence has also been questioned. The Delhi High Court has expressed displeasure over the lax action of the police. The court has lashed out at the Delhi Police for not filing FIRs on the provocative statements of leaders like Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma, and Anurag Thakur and for not investigating the video on violence those did spread in social media. The court also has lashed out on Delhi police for not taking immediate action to curb the violence. Apart from this, senior journalist Rahul Bedi, who covered the 1984 riots, also term the inaction of the police. According to BBC News, he told, "The involvement of police in riots does not always mean that they also will start killing and brutalizing people along with rioters. The involvement of police riots does not mean to give free hand to criminals and anti-socials for igniting any communal atmosphere. The involvement of police in riots does not mean to provide immunity to rioters for protecting them. " Now even many such statements surfaced on social media in which Police look like a mute spectator. Many victims and eyewitnesses have accused the police of not taking prompt action.

The ongoing student protest isn’t an unusual or rare occurrence in our society. But the mainstream media seems rather reluctant to call a spade a spade since they found a better narrative and a new villain in Amulya Leona who is now being associated with the so-called tukde tukde gang. The media is comfortably using her as a catalyst for TRPs. It wasn’t long ago in 1974 when the likes of Narendra Modi or late Arun Jaitley were themselves active participants in various resistance movements. In fact one such protest in Gujarat related to mess charges took a very monumental shape and while it shouldn’t be an inspirational reference but everything right from intense traffic jams to harming government property seemed occupational and justified by the protesters. No chief minister announced for any compensation back then which reminds of a recent situation in Uttar Pradesh when people were protesting against CAA-NRC. Today students of every other academic institution including JNU, IITs and other colleges have come out against the expensive fee structure and have been protesting within their democratic rights as
citizens. But the mainstream media (which very well includes Whatsapp) is questioning the entire movement by making these students accountable for wasting the taxpayers money by not attending the academic lessons and protesting against the government policies. In the backdrop of the falling economy and various other problems, a student from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) gave
a befitting reply to such queries. During one protest against the unaffordable fee structure in IIMC, the student exclaimed, “We don’t have enough money to spend on our education and so we depend on the taxpayers to be able to complete our education and become a taxpayer ourselves. Even we’d like to contribute to the growth of our country someday.” If someone is studying on the ex-
pense of a taxpayer’s money, what is wrong in that? The very reason why tax collection came into existence as a system was to provide assistance to create a better society where every individual seizes the best opportunities and makes this country great. Now if these students are demanding an affordable fee structure, why would it appear as wasting of the taxpayer’s money to the mainstream media? There are
other forms of tax apart from the regular income tax which one pays inevitably whether it’s in the form of buying milk packets or a television set. If somebody envisions an affordable education system, why would it bother you in the name of tax wastage? This is the only way forward to reduce poverty in the longer run when kids from poor families achieve good education, seek employment and become a taxpayer themselves. A critical question arises when such student protests are labelled nonsensical, useless and misleading. The constant media labelling of such protests as mere distraction weakens the entire purpose of demanding affordable education for all. Criticising the protests is welcomed but putting the kids accountable by throwing allegations deprives each one of them of their basic rights. Instead, issues like the fees hike, CAA or NRC have made them more aware of their constitutional rights as well as duties. They are infused with a fresh sense enthusiasm when it comes to society, polity and financial policies in the country. If this rage of rationality and awareness brings students to join politics then probably Indian politicians wouldn’t we looked down upon as they usually are.

Justice Delayed is Justice Denied

TAC News
The much talked saying concerning legal point of view, ’Justice delayed also justice denied’ is now would likely to be the fact as per the ground reality of legal aspects in ‘NIRBHAYA’ case. Tomorrow, Day after tomorrow and within a week and fortnight, every such dates fixed by the court of laws for all the convicts of ‘NIRBHAYA ‘ case but some times in the name of Curative Petition and some times in the name of Mercy Petition, the day fixed for their hanging slipped one date to another. The hanging date that fixed on March 3, 2020, also slipped ahead even after the court dismissed the Curative petition of a convict named Pawan Gupta. After the slap of dismissal of Apex Court’s judgment on the Curative Petition filed by the Pawan’s advocate, the last option of Mercy petition was filed by Pawan Gupta which is the prime cause of the delay of hanging again. Isn’t it the truth of’ Justice Delayed is also Justice Denied’. It seems the justice system of this nation also playing with the emotions of NIRBHAYA’S family. Death warrant deferred and the delay after delay in NIRBHAYA case stunned our countrymen waiting for another date to be fixed for these demons hanging for their brutal and inhuman crime against the daughter of this country. The father and mother of NIRBHAYA who have been knocking the doors of Justice from top to bottom still fight for justice which yet to be delivered by our independent judiciary system. In this case of spontaneous frustration, NIRBHAY’S mother does question the cause of delay with her distress ridden mindset. Only Pawan Gupta, among the 4 criminals sentenced to be hanged, had the option of mercy petition. Pawan had requested to convert the hanging to life imprisonment. His lawyer AP Singh demanded a hearing in open court. To this, a 5-judge bench headed by Justice NV Ramana said that there is no question of reconsidering the sentence. Of the four Nirbhaya convicts, only Pawan has the only legal option for mercy petition. The remaining three convicts Vinay Sharma, Mukesh Singh, and Akshay Thakur have already used all the options. Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed Pawan's plea to be a minor and his review petition thereon. Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said before the hearing, "I am shocked by the inaction of the courts."
m First Death Warrant (January 7 of 2020): Order to be hanged at 7 am on January 22, pending execution of mercy plea of a convict. m Second Death Warrant (January 17 of 2020): Order to be hanged at 6 am on February 1, Court on January 31 deferred hanging indefinitely. m Third Death Warrant (February 17 of 2020): On 3 March at 6 in the morning, the order for the convicts said - We have legal options OF Mercy Petition left now. Fourth & Final Death warrant March 20 of 2020 at 5AM, early
in the morning. On the night of December 16, 2012, 6 people had raped inside a moving bus to a paramedical student in National Capital. Nirbhaya died during treatment in Singapore on 26 December due to severe wounds. The Republic of India still waits for justice even after 7 years of this heinous crime against the daughters of India where one of the famous tag line of our present government is ‘BETI BACHAOBETI PADHAAO’(Save your daughter and Educate your daughter).
As per the law, in the case of Mercy Petition, the justice system of India has to wait for 15 days and after the dismissal, the death warrant only can be issued again. A big question does arise here, why did not the Mercy petition filed by the accused Pawan Gupta dismiss on the same day of dismissal of Curative petition by the court on 3rd March 2020 for the sake of justice to NIRBHAYA. It didn’t happen so but justice delayed again as the President of India rejected the Mercy Petition of culprit Pawan within 48 hours of his filling. At last, the four convicts, Mukesh Kumar Singh(32), Pawan Gupta(25),Vinay Sharma(26) and Akshay Kumar Singh(31) are to be hang date 5:30 AM on March 20 of 2020 as per the new and last death warrant issued by the court of law after all the options were wiped out during the process of hearing of Nirbhaya case in our justice system. Laws of our nation also should be altered as per the need in such sensitive case by which the faith of common men in our justice system will be restored not partly but wholly, else such delayed of our justice system may loose the faith of common men who even trust our independent judiciary system more than our elected Government.

Farewell Justice Murlidhar
|| Dharmendra Singh
Justice Murlidhar came to limelight when he had a midnight hearing on the issue of communal violence in the National capital. He had directed to file immediate FIR against BJP leaders who had made inflammatory speeches. During this hearing, he also reprimanded Delhi police for the negligence. On March 5th, Justice Murlidhar of Delhi High Court was given a farewell. He has been transferred to PunjabHaryana High court. During his farewell ceremony, thousands of lawyers and bystanders bid him farewell and listened to him. Lawyers were standing on the stairs and balcony for listening to justice Murlidhar. Justice Muralidhar is the same Judge who had ordered the immediate registration of FIR on BJP leaders who were accused of making inflammatory speeches at the time of hearing of Delhi’s communal violence case. The entire venue of the farewell was packed with lawyers and others. Many people also shared the picture of his farewell ceremony on social media sites. In the farewell, justice Murlidhar urged that when justice prevails, there will be victory and therefore stay true to justice. Justice Murlidhar opened a secret of the incident regarding the speedy hearing of the Delhi riot case. He told,” When I got the call from the petitioner’s advocate, I was at my residence. I at first asked Justice Sistani what to do, knowing that the Chief Justice is in left. Justice Sistani clarified that he too is officially on leave. Then I had to look into the matter.” During the farewell, lawyer of Delhi Government, Rahul Mehra called justice Murlidhar,” highly intellectual, courageous, honest and unstable judge” and bid his farewell to justice Murlidhar by singing the song of Rabindra Nath Tagore.”Ekla Chalo Re”. The matter on which he had ordered to lodge an immediate FIR on BJP leaders, later on, transferred before a bench headed by the Chief Justice. During this, he had had to express his strong displeasure over the attitude of the Delhi Police stating that Delhi Police did not show promptness in taking action against BJP leaders who made inflammatory and hate speeches that ignited Delhi’s communal riots.

The present Haryana government that was formed by an unprecedented coalition of BJP and JJP at the last moment has presented their first budget. Alike every time both the positive and negative reactions of the budget came to limelight. The coalition government claimed that this budget is historical as always. On the other hand, the Opposition mentioned the budget as anti-people in which the former Finance Minister Captain Ajay Yadav called this budget as the most useless budget
in the history of Haryana. Every year there are comments in favor and against the budget that prepares by the existing government but the true color of the budget and its impacts on common men becomes public later on. If you consider the budget for the last several years, then the things that have done as per the budget are not satisfactory. It’s evident to describe that, a lot of provisions are promised in the budget for education, health, best infrastructure and for the betterment of the public. But over time, the budget remains beyond the ground reality. The budget remains only the budget. The
budget never meets any expectations of common men in reality. If you understand in common parlance, then the budget has become just an excuse to comment. Above all the budget has remained a juggernaut of data. Some such provisions are made in the budget every time, which in reality cannot be fulfilled. If you understand the budget of almost all the states and the central government for the last 5 years, you must observe the promise of the creation of smart cities by all those power corridors which never shaped in reality. But the truth of present days does reveal that in the last 5 years no state has created a single smart city despite 5 budgets in these years. The hanging of Nirbhaya convicts is one of the much-talked news at this time, in this case, it was announced to create a Nirbhaya fund for the safety of women at the time of the Nirbhaya case and the budget was also allotted. But there was no groundwork on it in the budget. According to the budget, somewhere funds were not allotted to the states by the central government from the Nirbhaya Fund, and somewhere funds those were given to the states were not spent by the state governments concerning any such issues. Nirbhaya Fund shows that how many provisions a government should make for the safety of women in the budget, the budget looks like something else as per the ground reality. The same thing applies to the field of education as well. Every year a provision is made in the budget for the improvement of new
schools, smart classes, teachers. But still, the level of education has not increased according shown in the budget.
Haryana is in debt of two lakh crores
If you look at the budget, the debt over the state of Haryana has increased year after year in the last 5 years. The debt of the people of Haryana has been increasing continuously for the last 4 years. Last year, the debt on Haryana has increased from 176832 crores to 198700 crores. The government is more confident in taking loans than increasing income. If the government looks at the chart of revenues and expenditures, then the biggest means of earning the government is only by borrowings. About on 32% of the government borrowings, As many as 28.6% of the government’s total revenue goes to repay the government's debt. The work of a good government is to reduce the debt by increasing the sources of revenues. But astonishingly, here the government is primarily dependent on debt. The government borrows for every good project. Despite this, the present BJP government has no hesitation in taking more loans. The government says that Haryana has not crossed the danger line that has marked as per the national standard of taking loans. Last but not the least is that, despite all of these situations, still the Haryana Government eyes on taking more loans as per this year’s budget planning.
Sonbhadra’s Gold Reserve: Fact or Fiction?
Limty Khare
The news of getting 3000 tons of gold in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh was floating on social media that has become fiercely viral. Instead of knowing the truth that whether the reported amount of Gold availed or not, people across the country including media houses found busy debates and discussion concerning many concerned issues associated with it. Even now the naming of ‘Sonbhadra’ is also being associated with many ancient sayings as if some untold story. Let us know if this is a reality or just a rumor. The whole matter of this story of ‘Gold Reserve’ came to the limelight after a piece of leaked information came to the public domain during an official communication between the Mining department and the District Magistrate of Sonbhadra District in the state of Uttar Pradesh. In this letter, the prospects of 2943.26 tonnes of gold in ‘Sana hill block’ and 646.15 tonnes in ‘Hardi block’ were mentioned. In both these blocks, the possibil-
ity of having 3000 tons of gold was expressed in that official communication. Normally, it happened, as soon as this letter was leaked, a relentless process of rumors started. Someone has told the truth that avoid rumors, those don’t have wings! Those make fly the devils those have no home to reside !! The matter of getting gold reserves spread around the country alike a furious jungle fire. Different types of stories about ‘Sonbhadra’ unveiled which was created in our society. Even many claimed that in the ancient period it was believed to have a Gold Reserve in this area for which this place was named ‘Sonbhadra’. It is said that many decades ago, people knew that there is a gold repository in Sonbhadra. As soon as this thing came out, our social media also started Vomiting only gold and gold. People also started saying that ‘Son Chiraiya’(Bird that lays Golden Eggs) status of India is coming back once again. You must have known that India had immense gold reserves. This store was plundered heavily in the invasion of the Mughals and the. The country, therefore, was also
called ‘Son Chiraiya’(Golden Bird). When this matter began to be highlighted as it did trend in Google, then the Geological Survey of India (GSI) was forced to come forward and clarify that it was wrong to have 3000 tons of gold. GSI later on clarified that there is only 160 kg of gold reserve in these places of Sonbhadra District. Along with this, there was also a lot of talk on social media that poisonous snakes protect this gold store like the story of an old Bollywood film. According to the survey of scientists, it is also being said that poisonous snakes have been found in these hills. In addition to Russell viper, cobra and some other poisonous snakes have been found, which are said to be difficult to escape if they bite someone. The GSI report also said that a large gold repository has not been found in the Sonbhadra area. GSI had carried out excavations and surveys in the area from 1998 to 2000, but the information was not shared with the Mining Department of Uttar Pradesh as its results were not very promising. GSI had informed at that time,
about 52 thousand tonnes of ore deposits are there, not the gold. With this, only 3.03 grams of gold per tonne ore is expected to be found in Sub Block H of Son Pahadi. GSI has expressed the hope of getting around 160 kg of gold after going through a long process. If seen, the process of converting it into pure gold after getting gold reserves is an extremely long and heavy mechanical process which is also required for this. It is proved that the biggest gold reserves in the country are in the ‘Hutti mine’ in Karnataka. After this, Andhra Pradesh ranks second in gold production in the country. Apart from Jharkhand, Kerala, gold mines have also been found in the heartland of the country. According to the information given by GSI, seven new gold deposits were found in the country beneath the surface of India last year. There were signs of gold deposits in the ‘Singhbhum’ area around ‘Jojodih’, ‘Otia’, ‘Tabo’, ‘Bhangam’, ‘Phuljhri’, ‘Morchagora’, ‘Lukapani’, and; Ichagarh. In this way, the number of known gold reserves in the country has now increased to 17.
It is said that the country currently has about 626 tonnes of gold reserves. It is being said that the reserves found in Sonbhadra can be five times more than these gold reserves. Currently, gold mines in Karnataka produce about 88.7% of the country's gold. Gold is mined in ‘Dharwada’ and ‘Raichur’ districts in Karnataka. The matter of getting three thousand tons of gold reserves is very important in itself. At the moment nothing is being officially said, everything seems to be airborne. It is too early to say anything about whether such a large number of gold reserves are there or not, but the media should have taken care before showing anything in this matter. But who shall tie the bell around the neck of social media is a very important question here. Many such fake pieces of information float in our social media without any proof by which this kind of situation often arises from time to time. There is a great need to rein in this trend of social media. (The author is the editor of Samachar agency of India.)

Is India Inc Cracking the Gender Diversity Code? Sukhdeep Aurora,
Chief People Officer – ANAROCK Property Consultants
The importance of gender diversity in the workplace is a pretty well-accepted fact now. While more and more companies are addressing the need to bridge the gender gap in their respective businesses, there are many instances where gender diversity has remained a ‘buzzword’ with only nominal lip-service paid to the urgent and current need for a diversified workforce. India Inc., at certain functions and levels, still remains less than accepting of women at the workplace. Successful women are still an exception rather than the norm as they continue to struggle with the chauvinist thinking that has moved out of Indian homes and society and into our workplaces. To say this may be politically incorrect but if the ugly truth is not bared, there cannot be progress. That is not to say that some positively seminal progress has not been made. Many Indiabased MNCs adopting their global entity’s gender diversity norms, as well as quite a few leading consultancies and technology firms, are actually the flagbearers of gender diversity in Indian workplaces. It is worth noting that though India women’s share in the engineering space has definitely gone up to around 40% at the education level, this does not reflect in the employment numbers. In fact, women in the technical field, especially conventional engineering, are still in abysmal numbers. A larger malaise starts at the recruitment process itself, before managerial roles and those with higher responsibility come into the picture. While most Indian companies have their hiring programs geared towards attracting female talent, the statistics are still dismal when it comes to critical parameters such as the gender ratio in important roles. If we consider the technology field, the percentage of female employees in software testing is higher than that in core programming, reflecting an alarming trend towards relegating female employees to ‘less critical, lower complexity’ jobs.
All talk and no action?
On the one hand, more and more employers in India are acknowledging the crucial role a diverse workforce plays in a thriving, growthoriented business, its stakeholders, and the community it operates in. On the other hand, much of the steam pumped into diversity and inclusion initiatives is lost in events and other showcasing activities, with little reaching the final and most critical stage - execution. Indian companies, particularly tech firms, are trying to work towards their diversity mandates through higher incentives for referring women candidates, hiring women on a break from full-time work, offering special benefits for better work-life balance (child care, etc.). However, true change can come about only when diversity is part of a business’s ethos and not a mandate. Dramatic as it may sound, true inclusion is a matter of faith. A business must believe in the immense power of a diverse workforce that brings together different backgrounds, generations, and groups with their unique take on challenges and their solutions. How far does the root of gender inequality in India Inc. run? Is it related to a weak talent pipeline affecting hiring, or a lack of employer sensitization affecting employee morale?
Inclusion does not stop at hiring. Inclusion must be a way of thinking and only then can it truly promote women in workplaces. Globally, and in India specifically, women are seen to leave the workforce before they reach midmanagement level. Efforts made to include them in the workforce are as important as ensuring they continue in the workforce while navigating evolving roles on the personal front—as they go through milestones/events in life (such as marriage, parenthood and caregiving for the elderly).
account of the trust factor they are able to bring to the table. On the back of their unique qualities, many women have risen to head big teams across verticals and across industries. The discussion has to move beyond roles and fields where women are apt. They have ably and consistently demonstrated that they can contribute equally if not better than their male counterparts. Enough studies have proven that women bring ‘left-of-field thinking’ to work, which has more to do with new ideas and creative intelligence.
Studies suggest that the early 30s are a common age group for women to leave full-time jobs. While this could be a result of life events, the exodus can be stemmed by giving their careers proper direction prior to the break. Supervisors/mentors have a crucial role to play here. A professional is more likely to come back to work when he/she knows what is expected of him/her and what growth trajectory he/she can expect in the future. In the absence of a clearly-defined career path, an employee coming back after a break would clutch at straws trying to fit roles, and employers will potentially have a low employee engagement issue on their hands.
The last factor of import is to create a more sensitized work environment that is truly inclusive. Going beyond lip service, a workplace that truly empowers women by understanding their unique needs while channelizing their talents can be considered as genuinely gender diverse. Workplace policies to support women are truly the enabler that can address the gender bias in the Indian context. In India, a lot of good intent is still lost in execution. Even when policies are in place to provide flexi-work to employees with demanding commitments outside the office, lack of sensitization at peer and supervisor level makes it taboo for employees to explore these options. Until businesses internalize these policies to the point where flexibility in time and place of work is treated matter-of-factly - rather than as a favour being bestowed - they cannot demonstrate truly inclusive behaviour. This gap in theory and practice has given rise to India’s notoriously wide gap between employer and employee expectations - the former believe that they are doing enough, and the latter are unable to bring their true selves to work for fear of being stigmatized as unprofessional.
Women’s unique career patterns
We’re nowhere near the global gender diversity trends
Globally, the gender diversity discussion has moved forward to creating specific roles for women and discussing the roles of coloured women at the workplace, discerning a deeper understanding of the issue. In India, on the other hand, we are still content with celebrating the relatively few women in leadership roles and not doing enough to foster more of them. India clearly does not have a problem with lack of talent. Some organizations’ Human Resources divisions have clear mandates to seek both genders for available openings. In fact, some go out of their way to hire women employees, preferring them over men. A pertinent question then arises – are these equal opportunity employers or are they going overboard in their quest for redressing the gender imbalance? We have seen a similar dynamic playing out in the field of Indian law, which is now apparently overcompensating for decades of unabashedly male-centric legislatures by going in the diametric opposite direction on many fronts. I would say - To each his own. Let firms set up their hiring policies as per their guidelines, but the right balance needs to be struck. Even with all the right policies in place, where does India Inc. continue to get it wrong? A larger issue at hand is the fact that corporate workplaces are still geared towards males than females. The second issue is a larger one – that of mindset. Plainly put, women are not entrusted enough with managerial roles. Many are stuck in administrative and lower level posts. To my mind, this is also an element of gender diversity that does not get much airwaves, largely because we are stuck at talking about the percentage of women at the workplace. However, this downward bias towards the roles of women is of equal importance. To restrict women to sales or client interface work is also in itself sexist as much as it is regressive. That said, they are much more successful in such roles than men primarily on
Going beyond lip-service
What can be done to improve execution of inclusion policies?
Increasing gender diversity in the workplace through strategic initiatives can be effective in the following ways:
m Boosting employee morale m Sensitizing the workforce to the need for inclusive behaviour, m Bringing the inclusion perspective into strategic discussions around operational priorities conducted at the Csuite level
Until now, policies around inclusion appear to have remained restricted to the printed word for Indian em-
ployers. These policies need to be woven into the fabric of an organization for employees from diverse backgrounds to feel secure about discussing their work-life dynamics and successfully delivering on expectations - both inside the workplace and outside. Equally importantly, it is the business at the grass-roots level that needs to lead the agenda on gender diversity for an organization to see real action and movement happening on the ground. HR can be a strong partner and help in executing the agenda through establishing policies, processes and supporting infrastructure - but establishing a culture of inclusivity begins at the top and has to be a business goal and key metric. Most organizations forget to involve men while designing initiatives around women inclusivity. Given the workforce configuration today, more often than not men are occupying positions of authority and decision-making. Since they are not involved in such initiatives, they miss out on being sensitized to problems that women face at the workplace - and on a key factor in bringing about change at the ground level.

Reminisce of the lost land
The uniqueness about this book is that it is read as written by a French lady, with the creation of a character named Louise. As the title of the book suggests, it is a little walk of the lost World, that once was a promising era. Louise is a French lady, born in Nice. A working woman, struggling with her personal life and professional career. She is bearing the pain of being away from her family and her beloved daughter had hit her soul, yet she was ambitious with her attempts in making a documentary film to be featured at Cannes Film festival, which did make her take several hard decisions in her life. Through the eyes of Louise, one is taken through the enthralling journey into the past, the royality, the palaces, and their festivities, which had left her spell bound. It was of course different from her experiences about the people back at Nice. She felt connected with the people here, at the same time felt isolated, thinking about her own past. Louise comes across some amazing and unheard secret stories about the rulers and
Diwan in parallel. She finds the world of Diwan and his family fascinating, and she is drawn to understand their life style. The book is in two sections Louise's emotional experiences during her stay in the fort, while the later section is the expansion of the stories related to the Diwan's family, and the hidden aspect being , that she is assisted by the present Maharani, but her name does not appear anywhere. Overall, it is a small book, yet wonderful, collection of stories, rich memories , though nostalgic. The book has captivated some

Immortal Soul of Music In the latest installment of bringing all music connoisseurs, artists and enthusiasts under one roof, Pracheen Kala Kendra, headquartered at Chandigarh, excelled yet again at the heart of the capital. Triveni Kala Sangam's auditorium brought the who's who of music and society as a whole who came to extend their congratulations to the awardees of Nakshatra Samman Samaroh, a special Life Time achievement award ceremony honoring veteran musicians acknowledging their timeless contributions during their lifetime. The six 'Nakshatra Samman' Awardees were all respected gurus and exceptional personalities in their fields who have produced numerous talented disciples, inspired legions of musicians and performed extensively in and around the world. The two things that were common among the awardees were that they served the cause of Music and Dance throughout their lives, and secondly the fact that everyone had been associated with Pracheen Kala Kendra and helped them reach the heights it is now today, since its initial years. The honorable awards were bestowed upon Pt Deepak Chatterjee (Renowned Vocal maestro) Guru Dilip Saha (Kathak virtuoso), Pt Baldev Raj Verma (sought after vocalist), late Guru Satish Kaushik (Kathak exponent) and late Pt Jagdish Mohan (World Renowned vocalist) and Ustad Usman Khan (Sitar Maestro)
The evening kicked off with a breath-taking musical trio performance by young artists from Kolkata, who mesmerized the audience as well as proved resoundingly that the legacy, the art and the craft of Indian Classical Music will be immortal. The audience who came to witness senior artists were so impressed about the whole performance of the three unbelievably good and promising musicians, that the wave of applause went on much after the conclusion of their performance. Soumyajit Paul playing Sitar, Archi Bhattacharya on Vocals with Rupak Mitra on the Tabla mesmerized the august audience with a performance on Raag Yaman, an evening Raga. Their onstage chemistry, their matching of wavelengths, their versatility and their perfection of every note, beat, and tihais were in stark contrast of their such young age. This inaugural performance set the mood for a respectful and humble Nakshatra Samman Samaroh. Following the ceremony, the main event of the evening, Ustad Usman Khan's Sitar Recital commenced and from the word go, the listeners knew they were in for another treat. Every note was filled with murchhana, every barhat and every taan showed elegance, displayed expertise and experience. The fact that maestro Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri accompanied him on Tabla added to the delight of
the jam-packed audience. The rendition of Raag Charukeshi which Ustad Usman Khan performed, had the traditional Alaap Jod Jhala, followed by Vilambit ektaal, Madhyalaya and Drut set to Tintaal of 16 beats. Every intricate taan that was played on Sitar by Usman Khan Sahab was equally matched by the magical fingers on tabla by Ustad Sabri. It was unimaginable that the two artists had never before played together. The drut laya was equally entertaining and was soothing to the year, and people forgot that Ustad
ji was in his 80s. The event was attended by dignitaries such as Sh Naresh Sirohi (founder, DD Kisan Channel) eminent musicians like Pt Chetan Joshi (flutist), Ustad Asghar Hussain (Violinist), Sh Ajay Jha (Mohan Veena), Sh Subrata De (Sitarist), Sh Debasish Adhikary (Tabla) and numerous others and noted art critics. Basic Necessities - Still the primary agenda of anyelection in 21st century Karamvir Kamal
The development of any state or the entire nation is based on fulfilling its bare necessity of all the basic public amenities intact. It is quite unfortunate that still in this 21st century, battles of democratic Elections are fought on the issues of basic amenities like education and electricity. It’s a separate thing that in the recent past some elections were fought in the name of caste and religion. Elections of states even fought on the issue of the entire nation’s development. Let it…If the matter is the development of the state than we should concentrate our talk on the issues of mere the state. Recently, the state government of Haryana has tabled it’s budget in which the government claims of including all the needed issues of all the sections of people in the state without any discrimination. So it’s loud and clear that in this people’s friendly budget there must be something new and good for people of all the sections of Haryana society. In vice versa, the opposition has termed this budget worthless alike every time they did in the past. But, the Budget and the ground
reality always differ. If we observe the provision of the budget along with the concerned department, then the government along with the common men must able to aware of the truth of a wide difference between the budget and it’s implementation. The budget is always based on the revenue and expenditure of the government. It has been observed many times, states are always lost to improve in their revenues. In these losing ground of revenue, states never have done better to make the reach of a huge amount of revenue in front of their planned budget. The government always looks laggard either in the collection of Electricity Bill or in any kind of government recovery. Electricity providers are private companies but these private entities in fact nurtured by the concerned state government. The Electricity department when is not able to recover all the pending electricity Bills, consequently the governments provide funds to the Private company which is absolutely tax payer's money of the concerned state. Also in the case of education, our states still aren’t able to provide better educational facilities. It includes a lack of proper infrastructures and availability of
numbers of trained teachers in schools in addition to the availability of needed numbers of books and study materials to all the school goers. In opposite, Privately owned schools always are remained in profit. Therefore, common men of our country take more interest in Private schools rather than Government Schools.
In the state of Haryana, it is evident to inform that there are as many as 175300 teacher’s posts still remained vacant both in private and government schools. But still, 33000 vacant posts of government school teachers yet to be filled up. Still, there is a lack of seat arrangements for school goers along with the poor infrastructure of government schools
which reflects no budget still able to promise and provide a better educational system. Let’s talk about the Health sector of Haryana! The state of Haryana still lacks a better health facility for its citizens. Alke this year’s budget, previous budgets might have termed the best but in reality, still, the state lacks a better Health facility as per the need of the people. Medical facilities, now a day not only costly but also owned mostly by private entities. Every year, the health budget is increasing, but its facilities have not been increased accordingly as per the time of need. Last time, when the BJP government was formed, the government had declared the opening of new medical colleges in every district of Haryana, but even after 5 years of the reign of this government, only the work order of 4 such medical colleges has been issued. Mere 3500 posts of doctors have been approved in Haryana where the population of about 25 million. But as per the ground reality, the entire state barely needs as many as 27000 doctors. When NITI Aayog recommends the Haryana’s Health Budget should be up to 8%, as per the recent years budget it is just 4.5%.
Tips to Make Your Team Successful For any team to flourish, it requires harmony, companionship, one vision and a great leader who could ensure all of these are available. A successful team is one which efficiently splits tasks and effectively manages time. If your team has some of these traits, you are good to go but if you have them all, your team is unbeatable and smart. But what makes a team so great? What are those elements which could enhance the team performance? How could leaders be better at their job? Here are three most important team-building tips that a leader must know: 1. Build relationships, relationships will build team We are social animals – we desire companionship and constructive relationships just as much we need food and water. In other words, the better our relationships, the more joyful and progressively profitable our work life is. Great working connections give us a few more advantages: our work becomes progressively pleasant. Additionally, people tend to accept changes that organizations need to actualize, and this way they can become progressive and innovative. In addition, great relationships at work give organizations an opportunity: rather than investing time and energy in dealing with negativity, we can, rather, center around concerns that matter the most. Clients, suppliers and
key stakeholders are overall fundamental to an organization’s well-being. In this way, it's essential to create and keep great relations with other colleagues. How can you establish a good relationship with your team? a.When you form good relations with your partners, you structure an incredible network that encourages you to work and become more successful. If you believe the individuals you work with, you can be transparent in your messages and activities, and you know they are always "watching your back." b.The better and more viably you speak with people around you, the more extravagant your connections will be. Every great relationship relies upon open and fair correspondence. c. Give importance to colleagues so they could feel their assessments are considered and that they can altogether accomplish the hierarchical objectives. d. Invest in your colleagues’ personal development. People often leave bad environment more than for a higher renumeration. It is essential for an individual’s growth to keep learning, stay creative, and recognize their latent talents. e. Devote a sometime of your day for relationship building, even if it's just 20 minutes. Take out time to recall one thing each one of you is thankful for. This helps in creating an encouraging and opportune environment.
2. Be transparent A transparent working environment supports fear-free environment, one that urges everyone to be open about their accomplishments and shortcomings and would overall be able to make a more secure, progressively positive atmosphere. Here’s how you can promote transparency at work: a. Whether you need to tackle a rumor or gossip, transparency can help in busing these sorts of myths. It suggests that you are not hesitant to be open and honest and will set an example where other colleagues can come clean if they have any concerns. b. As a leader, you likely must make careful choices. At any point you make a choice, be careful and let your team know why you have made specific choices. c. What's far better than clarifying your choice, is to include your team in the procedure. You can do this in a several ways. At times a quick survey regarding the matter can be enough to make others contribute. Also, you could hold a meeting to get ideasto settle on a group-based decision.
3. Communicate down the hierarchy, loud and clear Among different advantages, open communications constructs kinship and trust between colleagues, ensures straightforwardness in the environment, empowers employee manage-
ment, supports confidence, and encourages organizational development. Here are ways you can ensure communication: a. In order to ensure smooth management, it is advisable to let your team participate in the projects, give new thoughts, ask more questions and raise concerns, etc, if any. This will assist you with remaining in direct contact and minimizing any need to depend on email or formal gatherings. b. Time spent in between work meetings helps in building positive connections between colleagues. c. Ensure your team participates in group discussion when they see the leader doing the same. Model the ways of communication you need to see by respecting them and asking for genuine feedback. d. Town Hall Meetings gives way to open conversation among workers and leaders. As such, it makes organization increasingly available for associates at every level. Such gatherings can be offered on a quarterly basis. Building a successful team is no cakewalk. The process is about establishing trust among each other and with the right set of skills, a leader can convey, assist, and create a healthy working atmosphere.
