safety around the pool
Please take note of our rules and guidelines to make sure that you and your children stay safe around the pool this summer! •
When no lifeguard is on duty, no one under the age of 18 is permitted to swim in the Family Resort Pool.
•
All children under the age of 5 must be accompanied and supervised at arm’s length by a responsible adult while in the Family Resort Pool. (If the child is in the water, the adult must also be in the water.)
•
Infants and toddlers must wear diapers secured by waterproof pants or swim diapers in all Club pools. Swim diapers should be checked frequently (every 30-60 minutes) and replaced when soiled. Please change diapers on the changing table in the family bathroom in the Wellness Center, not on the pool deck.
•
Children must be 5 years old and capable of swimming to the side of the pool independently to use the low dive.
•
Children must be 5 years old AND at least 48” tall to use the high dive.
•
No flips or somersaults from the high dive, feet-first jumps and dives only.
•
Children 4 years old may use the pool slide, but must have an adult in the water to assist. Children 5 years and up may use the slide independently.
learn to swim: swimming lessons The Briar Club is happy to be able to again offer small group swimming classes to meet the needs of budding swimmers, from six months to seven years old! To determine which class is best for your child to start in, please contact the Aquatics Department for a personal consultation at (713) 622-3667 ext. 2126 or swim@thebriarclub.com. Class descriptions are available online at thebriarclub.com. Instructors will wear face masks and or face shields while teaching in the water, or from the deck. WATER BABIES: 6-18 MONTHS Saturdays from 10:30 am - 11:00 am $70 per month for four 30-minute lessons, once per week AQUA TOTS: 19-30 MONTHS Saturdays from 10:00 am - 10:30 am $70 per month for four 30-minute lessons, once per week GUPPIES: 2½-3 YEARS Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm $140 per month for eight 30-minute lessons, twice per week SEAHORSES: BEGINNERS (AGES 3-4) Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm $140 per month for eight 30-minute lessons, twice per week DOLPHINS: INTERMEDIATE (AGES 4-6) Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 4:30 pm & 5:30 pm $140 per month for eight 30-minute lessons, twice per week LIL’ BARRACUDAS: ADVANCED (AGES 5-7) Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm $175 per month for eight 30-minute lessons, twice per week
