18th Annual Arzie Rogers Memorial Toy Run
By: Lloyd and Rose
Harley- Davidson in Concord, NC has sponsored The Arzie Rogers Memorial Toy Run for 18 yrs. This event collects toys for the Empty Stocking Fund and helps bring joy to many families in the Cabarrus County area. This year, the ride was new and full of exciting new things. It began at Captain Steve’s Seafood Restaurant at Harrisburg. There were free donuts from Krispy Kreme, and coffee from Java Jeff. Director Karen Henning of Speedway HOG Chapter welcomed all the riders . The owner of Speedway, Aimee Rogers Thompson, had a great opening speech and presented Lt. Aaron Rankin of Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office with a new Harley-Davidson Police motorcycle for his 18yrs of dedication, leading us on a safe ride. DJ Todd and Santa were also celebrating 18yrs. The ride was beautiful country and city ride, going everywhere in Cabarrus. county. All along the way, the people were bringing their children out, videoing, and generously showing the bikers love for what they were doing. Back at Speedway, food was provided by Captain Steve’s, and there were games and raffles. The parking lot had several Harley-Davidson fire peedway
pits burning, so everyone could enjoy s’mores. The amazing amount of toys around the Christmas tree, almost brought tears to your eyes, knowing how the bikers in these times, still gave so much of their hearts. There were so many that participated, Bob Karney and Sean Clayton from Bob Karney Law Firm were there giving out goodies, Speedway Harley-Davidson HOG Chapter, Salisbury HOG Chapter, Falcon Bikers of Charlotte ,Refugee Riders, Rock Hill, Red Nights, Steel Rain, IMRG, Crusin For Jeeps, Sick and Twisted, Booze Fighters, Independence, Kings of the South, Cross Road Kings, Sons of Liberty, and The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine always working to keep bikers informed. There were so many that participated and worked so hard to make this a success. Thanks to Nichola Dow, the Speedway HOG Chapter, JB, and Karen, and all the others behind the scenes. Old Indian saying, “It takes a tribe to raise a child”. Well, it takes an army of bikers to do all the things we do. Until next year, stay safe and healthy, we will see you then.
