Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group The Firm That Rides®

Submitted by Shannon Rights

here were many attorneys advertising motorcy-

clist representation, but few lawyers if any actually rode bikes and no one was doing the work to protect the right to ride,” Tom McGrath recalls. “As a motorcyclist, I felt there needed to be someone who could not only represent riders when they are injured but tap into a personal passion of motorcycling to represent our community in front of lawmakers and regulators.” These were the words that molded the philosophy of the Motorcycle Law Group when founder Tom McGrath started his one-man practice in Virginia. Now over 30 years later, the Motorcycle Law Group continues to be on the forefront of representing riders both in the courtroom and out. We have offices in NC, VA, SC, and GA where we continue to live our motto of being “the Firm that Rides®”. To date 99% of our staff are avid riders who get out on the roads every chance they get. You can catch our attorneys and support staff at numerous motorcycle events each month. While enjoying the freedoms of the open road, we realize that we must also protect our right to ride. We are passionate about protecting motorcyclists’ rights and serve as members of our local State Motorcycle Rights Organizations and the Motorcycle Riders Foundation. At Tom McGrath’s Motorcycle Law Group, we believe in giving back to our riding community. Tom McGrath and the Motorcycle Law Group were instrumental in opening Virginia’s HOV lanes to motorcyclists. In 2008, we challenged the City of Myrtle Beach, S.C.’s anti-motorcycle ordinances and had them overturned by the Supreme Court of South Carolina; all at no cost to our clients. Full Throttle Magazine’s own Mark and Molly Infield were represented by the Motorcycle Law group during that time. In NC, Tyler Stiles works with CBA/ABATE of NC as a registered Lobbyist fighting for motorcyclists’ rights, such as the 2019 Anti-Masking bill which changed the law so that riders may now legally cover their faces when riding in North Carolina. All our attorneys are avid riders who work in their communities and states. Partners Matt Danielson, Liz Sorrell and Chad Fuller along with attorneys Katie Fuller and Tyler Stiles continue to honor the legacy of founder Tom McGrath’s vision. When you call us, you will not be shipped off to a lawyer referral program. We live and work in our communities
