The Divrei Chaim’s Avodah in D’zikov It so occurred that the Divrei Chaim, Reb Chaim Halberstam was traveling to visit Reb Eliezer of D’zikov. In the midst of his journey, he passed through a village and was recognized as the Divrei Chaim. He was immediately asked to be Sandek at a bris and he accepted the offer promptly. During the Bris Seudah, the baby’s father supplied his best bottles of aged wine in honor of Reb Chaim. He poured Reb Chaim a cup and warned him that the wine was extremely strong and potent. Reb Chaim, however, drank cup after cup of wine until he finished the entire bottle. The father begged Reb Chaim to halt his travels until the effects of the wine would wear off, yet, Reb Chaim paid no heed and resumed his journey. Upon reaching D’zikov, Reb Chaim stopped at his host before his meeting with Reb Eliezer. He then sent his Gabbai to Reb Eliezer to explain that he had attended a Bris, drank too much wine and thus it was difficult for him to meet Reb Eliezer. When Reb Eliezer received the message, he hurried to Reb Chaim’s host to greet him. After a short meeting, Reb Chaim hastened to accompany Reb Eliezer home. Reb Chaim’s Gabbai then went back to sleep at the host’s home. Yet, later it occurred

to him that perhaps he should not have left Reb Chaim alone with Reb Eliezer in his state. He hurried to Reb Eliezer’s home yet made his way back when Reb Eliezer motioned him to return. In the morning, the Gabbai returned to Reb Eliezer’s homes and caught sight of Reb Chaim saying Krias Shema by the Mezuzah. Reb Eliezer explained the Gabbai that Reb Chaim was still in the midst of reciting Kris Shema Al Hamittah and was intent on the Pasuk, Shema Yisroel. The Gabbai and Reb Eliezer were both astounded that after drinking an entire bottle of strong wine, Reb Chaim had strength to stand six hours focusing on the first Pasuk of Shema.

Oven Baked Zucchini Chips Delight your family with this healthy vegetable turned into a scrumptious milky side dish! Ingredients • ¼ cup dry whole wheat breadcrumbs • ¼ cup grated fresh Parmesan cheese • ¼ tsp seasoned salt • ¼ tsp garlic powder • ⅛ tsp freshly ground black pepper • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk (skimmed milk can also be used) • 2½ cups (1/4-inch-thick) slices zucchini • Cooking spray Instructions • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. • Combine first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl - stir with a whisk. • Place milk in a shallow bowl. Dip zucchini slices in milk and dredge in breadcrumb mixture. • Place coated slices on an oven proof wire rack coated with cooking spray; place rack on a baking sheet. • Bake for 30 minutes or until browned and crisped.
