Part of a whole Moshe came into his office one morning, all ready to log onto his computer and proceed to work. However, his computer simply refused to power up. He pressed the “on button again, tried to unplug the wire and checked the monitor. Yet, everything seemed to be in good working order and Moshe could not understand what was causing the failure. He reached for the phone and summoned a technician. The technician tried all the tricks of his trade yet to no avail. He commenced opening up the computer and checked the hard drive, the motherboard and the processor. After sweating for hours, the technician noticed a small yet barely evident switch on the back side of the computer. He asked Moshe if he had tried to turn the switch. Moshe answered in the negative, saying that he did not even know of its existence. The technician stated that it seemed to be the case that someone must have turned that little switch to

the off position. What the works on the processors and hard drive could not succeed in doing, the little switch did achieve. The computer blinked and came to life. After all, the greatness of the most advanced processors will not help without an adequate power supply. So too, we may feel that the role we play on this world is small. We are neither Rabbanim nor Askonim, perhaps we are not a Company Director or a Shop Owner or even a volunteer for the local Bikum Cholim. We are just simple housewives who do what Hashem wants of us, perhaps we daven and saw a tehilim too. However, after all, without the help of all the tefilois and mitzvos of every single Yid the greatest of Tzadikkim cannot operate. We are all here to fulfill our very own unique mission and role in this world. Though it may seems like a small role to us, we are all crucial, we are all needed to play our small part which is a part of one big whole.

What You May Not Know About cholesterol
The following article is not for informational proposes only. Never make any medical decision without having a rational discussion with your doctor. Though many people still do not realize this, our bodies actually need cholesterol in order to survive, as the brain and central nervous system rely on this important fat to both protect the integrity of neurons and promote proper neural communication and function. But sometimes cholesterol fails to properly assimilate where it needs to go inside the body, or the size and density of cholesterol particles get out of whack due to an underlying health condition or poor diet and lifestyle, which is what commonly gets attributed to chronic health problems such as heart disease and metabolic syndrome. The tendency among conventional practitioners, of course, is to address this chronic cholesterol imbalance by trying to artificially lower it, as “high cholesterol” has become a popular buzz phrase for ill health, and therefore it must be reduced by whatever means possible. But like many other drug-based approaches to disease, this focused, cholesterol-lowering approach fails to address the underlying causes of high cholesterol, which include things like insulin resistance and diabetes. In fact, high cholesterol itself is actually a symptom of another underlying health condition, rather than a condition in and of itself. High cholesterol is part of our body’s response to an underlying chronic inflammation.
the majority of heart disease is not being diagnosed or treated by most physicians,” wrote practicing physician Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D., in a 2011 piece on cholesterol for The Huffington Post. “Abnormal cholesterol levels are just a downstream problem that is mostly a result of ‘diabesity’ or the continuum of blood sugar and insulin imbalances that range from pre-diabetes to full-blown end stage diabetes.” What this means is that simply popping the latest cholesterol drug will do little, to actually fix your underlying cholesterol problems and reduce your heart disease risk. In fact, Dr. Hyman explains that cholesterol drugs, even if they initially appear to bring cholesterol levels back into a healthy range, can actually lead to more health problems in the long run, like diminished CoQ10 levels which can cause the heart and other muscles to weaken and can cause memory decline. A recent study showed it can even cause diabetes which is ironic because this means it actually makes insulin resistance - the underlying cause of high cholesterol, worse. In our next article we’ll discuss natural ways to bring your cholesterol to healthy levels and treat the underlying cause of hypercholesterolemia (a fancy way of saying high cholesterol...)
“The singular focus on treating cholesterol as a means to prevent heart attacks is leading to the deaths of millions of people because the real underlying cause of

Peanut Butter Buttons A great treat to delight your kids! Materials • 1/2 cup peanut butter chips • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar • 1/2 cup sugar • 1 large egg • 2 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp salt • 2 ½ cups flour • Red licorice strings (optional) Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 375°. Microwave the peanut butter chips at medium heat for 1 minute. Stir the chips. If they are still not melted, microwave them for another minute and then stir until smooth. 2. In a large bowl, beat together the melted chips, peanut butter, butter, and both sugars with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until smooth and fluffy. Blend in the egg, vanilla extract and salt and gradually beat in the flour on a low speed until a firm dough forms. 3. Working with half the batch at a time, roll out the dough to a 1/4-inch thickness on a flour-dusted surface, using a lightly floured rolling pin. Cut out cookies with a 3-inch round biscuit cutter and transfer them to non-greased baking sheets. Re-roll the dough scraps for additional cookies. 4. Press the bottom of a small drinking glass into the center of each cookie to create a circular indentation. Then use the end of a drinking straw to cut four buttonholes in each cookie (NOTE: twisting the straw a quarter turn each time will lift the dough from the hole). 5. Bake the cookies until set and slightly golden underneath for about 8 to 10 minutes. Let them cool on the sheets for one minute and then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. 6. For a fun finishing touch, lace licorice string through the holes in each cookie. Start from the back and thread a piece of licorice through the holes, crisscrossing it in front of the cookie. Trim the ends to about 1/2 inch long, leaving them loose at the back. Yields: 32 cookies

Did you know...? Off the Pacific coast of British Columbia, killer whales often come to “rubbing beaches”— shallow bays lined with smooth rocks. The whales rub their bodies against the rocks, and scientists believe the action may be for no other reason than the sheer pleasure of it.

Ketchup is a condiment thought to be a staple of America. Few would taste it and think it has anything to do with Asia, yet most people don’t know its interesting history. The word for ketchup originates from the Chinese word “kôe-chiap,” which means, “brine of pickled fish or shellfish.” Ketchup was originally composed of fish brine and various herbs and spices and tasted nothing like modern day ketchup. The recipe for the sauce began to spread around Asia and eventually made it to Indonesia and Malaysia, where the British discovered it in the 17th century. The English sailors liked it so much they took it back to England, where they added tomatoes that had been brought over in the previous century from the New World, creating the first version of recognizable modern day ketchup!
