You are the Builder An elderly carpenter was ready to retire and he informed his employer of his plans to leave the house building business and to be able to live a more leisurely life. His employer was extremely sorry to see his good dependable worker go and asked if he could build him just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter agreed but with time it was easy to see that his heart was not into his work and he resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an extremely unfortunate way to end his career. Upon the carpenter’s completion of the house, his employer came to inspect the building and handed him the front-door key. “This is now your house,” he said, “my personal gift to you.” The carpenter was shocked and thought that if he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now, he was forced to live in a house that was built with inferior quality.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up with less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. A few years down the line, we look with shock at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on the wall says, “Life is a do-it-yourself project.” Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today. You are the builder – build wisely!

Feta & Parmesan Zucchini Bake Enjoy the best of both cheese and squash with this delightful recipe! Ingredients: 6-7 medium zucchini or yellow summer squash 2 Tbsp canola oil 2 Tbsp minced garlic 2 tsp dried thyme 4 eggs 2/3 cup light sour cream 1 cup crumbled feta cheese 1/2 cup fresh parmesan cheese 2 Tbsp lemon juice Salt and pepper to taste Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and spray a large casserole dish with non-stick spray. Slice the squash into ¼ inch slices. If they are larger squash, cut them down the middle before slicing. 2. Heat oil in a large non-stick frying pan. 3. Add the squash, garlic and thyme. 4. Sauté and stir just until the squash is starting to soften slightly. NOTE: Don’t cook too long or Squash will turn mushy after it bakes in the oven. 5. Remove from the heat. Beat together the eggs, sour cream, cheeses and lemon juice in a medium sized bowl. 6. Place half of the squash into the bottom of the casserole. 7. Sprinkle on some salt and pepper (remember that the cheeses are salty!) 8. Spread 1/2 of the egg mixture over the top. 9. Repeat with remaining squash and egg mixture. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the mixture is bubbling and slightly set. Serve hot.

Once he did so, she was able to leave and yell for help until they found her. Her kidnapper was found and sentenced to 421 years in prison.
