The reason behind the name “Chozeh” If a person takes care to guard his eyes, he will merit being able to see extremely lofty things that the eyes generally cannot distinguish. When the holy Chozeh, Reb Yaakov Yitzchok was a young Yeshivah Bachur he would walk on the street with his eyes tightly shut in order to ensure that he should not glimpse sights which should not be seen. One of his friends would frequently assist him and guide him. Some of the fellow Bachurim went over to their Rebbe and proposed that Reb Yaakov Yitzchok’s behaviour was mere foolishness however the Rebbe admonished the Bachurim and asked them to respect Reb Yaakov Yitzchak for his piousness and sincerity. Reb Yaakov Yitzchok reached the age of shidduchim and a distinguished shidduch was made. He did not set eyes on his Kallah

until the actual wedding day. At the wedding, he opened his eyes to glimpse his Kallah and saw the form of a graven image upon her face. He approached his father and informed him that the wedding simply had to be called off. His parents were quite astonished by the turn of events and extremely disappointed too. The Kallah was from a well known family and was known to be a girl with the best qualities. Reb Yaakov Yitzchok was adamant in his decision and the wedding was called off. By guarding his eyes for so many years, the holy Chozeh was able to perceive what others could not. The Chozeh found his prospective match and went on to become a great Rebbe with Chassidim. He was called “Chozeh” because he could sense and see happenings from one end of the world to another, due to the protection and care with which he treated his eyes.

Mood Solutions You May be Overlooking
Have you been having trouble managing your mood? Have you run through the list of conventional and natural moodenhancing strategies, to no avail? Below, we’ll discuss ways to support your mood that are often overlooked and easily missed. Mood Solution #1 — Balance Your Hormones Many people dealing with depression or anxiety never think about their hormones, let alone get them checked out. This is a huge oversight, especially when get older and approach middle age. Men can experience drops in testosterone and consequently depression, while women can experience drops in progesterone and estrogen which can dramatically effect mood and energy. So what’s a man or a woman to do? Quite possibly, the answer could be hormone restoration. For a simple approach, consider the hormone, DHEA. It’s a precursor to testosterone and estrogen, and it has been clinically shown to alleviate depression in both male and female. In one study, about half of participants taking DHEA for 6 weeks experienced a 50% or greater drop in depressive symptoms. For a more comprehensive approach, consider testing your hormone levels and balancing them with bioidentical preparations. Focus on balancing your DHEA, estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone levels.
— Tame Oxidative Stress Traditionally, mood disorders haven’t been viewed as an oxidative problem, but new research is opening us up to this possibility. In fact, higher levels of oxidative stress have been found in people with bipolar disorder and major depression. In one study, for example, serum levels of malondialdehyde (an oxidant) were significantly higher in patients with major depression. And in another trial, depressed patients were found to have significantly lower levels of CoQ10 in their blood (a sign of oxidative stress). What does this imply? That antioxidants may be helpful in managing your mood. In particular, CoQ10 has been shown to ameliorate symptoms of depression in bipolar mood disorder. Mood Solution #3 — Don’t Lower Your Cholesterol Too Much! Cholesterol is seen as the “bad guy,” causing all sorts of health problems. But in reality, it’s pretty good for your mood. For one, it’s needed for proper brain cell signaling, which is something you don’t want to interfere with. Low cholesterol levels have been linked to suicide, personality disorders, early death, aggressive and violent behaviors, anxiety, and depression

Perfect Pound Cake This al rounder Pound Cake is suitable for Shabbos, weekdays, guests and the like! Yields: A 9×5-inch loaf cake Ingredients: 2 cups sifted cake flour 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 2 sticks unsalted butter - softened 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar 4 large eggs 1 tsp finely grated lemon zest 1 tsp grated orange zest 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/3 cup heavy cream Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 325 degree F 2. Grease the surface and sides of a 9×5-inch loaf pan and dust the pan with flour 3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl and set aside 4. Cream butter in a mixer at medium speed until very creamy – approximately 2 minute. 5. Gradually, add the sugar and continue
beating for another 4 minutes until light and fluffy. 6. Reduce the speed to low and add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally. 7. Beat in the citrus zest and vanilla extract. 8. Add the flour mixture at a low speed in three separate additions, alternating it with the heavy cream in two additions and mixing just until the flour is fully incorporated. 9. Scrape the batter into the pan and smooth the top. 10. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. 11. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack for 20 minutes.

Socotra is one of four small islands in the Indian Ocean, near the Gulf of Aden. Situated some 250 miles off the coast of Yemen, the largest member of the archipelago, also called Socotra, is home to some of the weirdest looking plants that are found nowhere else on the planet. Like the Galapagos Islands, this island is teeming with 825 rare species of plants. 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species do not occur anywhere else in the world. The marine life of Socotra is also very diverse, with 253 species of reef-building corals, 730 species of coastal fish and 300 species of crab, lobster and shrimp, and well represented in the property’s marine areas. One of the most striking of Socotra’s plants is the dragon’s blood tree, which is a strange-looking, umbrella-shaped tree. Its red sap was sought after as a medicine and a dye and today used as paint and varnish.
