Body & Soul The Roman King Antoninus once approached Rebbi, Reb Yehudah Hanassi and said, “The boy and the soul can each absolve themselves from the eternal judgment for the body can say that it the soul who has sinned and the soul can defend and say, it is the body who transgressed and that from when I departed the body, I fly about in the air like a bird. Rebbi listened to Antoninus and then answered him with the following parable. There was once a King who owned a lush orchard with splendid figs. He appointed two watchmen to guard the orchard. One of them was lame and the other was blind. One day, the lame watchman approached the blind one and said, “I see that there are beautiful figs in the orchard. Let me ride on your shoulders and we will go and eat some.” The lame man rode on the blind man and they ate the figs.
and inquired, “Where are my beautiful figs?” The lame man answered, “Have I feet? How could I have approached the figs?” The blind man replied, “Have I eyes to see with? How could I have eaten the figs?” The King listened to their defense and then placed the lame watchman of the shoulders of the blind watchman and judged them together. The answer thus grew clear for Antoninus as he grasped the concept of the body and soul RivkyWeber Bus Car4_RL.ai 1 7/14/10 4:51 PM on judgment day.

Are Your Arteries Turning into Bone?
As we age, an interesting phenomenon happens: we lose bone mass, but our arteries turn into “bone-like tissues.” Yes, we are slightly exaggerating, but something similar to the process of bone formation does take place in aging arteries. In diseased arteries, bone-making cells similar to osteoblasts, can literally be found in the lining of arterial walls. And as you can probably imagine, this is not a healthy process. Leached Calcium Deposits onto Arterial Walls Your blood keeps a steady supply of calcium, as slight deviations can actually lead to death. That’s why calcium is an essential mineral to your health. Your bones act like a “mineral bank” that release calcium on an as-needed basis. When your body doesn’t obtain enough calcium from your diet, it gets it from your bones. Borrowing calcium from your bones seems convenient, but it can take a toll on your arteries in the long run. The calcium can deposit onto arterial walls and can lead to plaque build-up. Your bones don’t fare any better. Stripping your bones of calcium can weaken their structural framework and lead to osteoporosis. This scenario seems like a nowin situation, but luckily it is preventable.
bones healthy. Vitamin D inhibits arterial calcification by preventing abnormal changes in blood vessel walls. It’s also an important cofactor in bone mineralization. On the other hand, vitamin K increases a protein that keeps calcium out of arterial walls and mineralizes bone. If you’re counting on your diet to provide enough vitamin K, you’re probably falling short. The form found to keep your arteries healthy, vitamin K2, is rarely found in a typical Western diet. Vitamin K2 is found in fermented foods, such as soy natto and aged cheese. Getting enough vitamin D through diet and sunlight is hard to come by as well, and unless you’re supplementing, you’re probably falling short. Make sure to take at least 5000 IU daily. Healthy bones are essential to maintaining healthy arteries — and vice versa. Your bones are just as important as the rest of your body parts, but rarely are they given much thought. Perhaps it’s time to change that. If you want to be healthy, you must take good care of them!

Do you like garlic? Your heart digs it too!
Are Vitamins D and K the Missing Link? Research shows that people with low bone densities are more likely to have calcified arteries. They’re also more likely to have low vitamin D and K levels. They say... Life is not about waiting the storm to pass its about learming to dance in the rain Did you know...?
It is hard to grasp just how small the atoms that make up your body are until you take a look at the sheer number of them. An adult is made up of around 7,000,000,000,0 00,000,000,000,000,000 (7 octillion) atoms.

A fighter jet pilot managed to shoot down his own plane! On Friday September 21, 1956, seasoned World War II pilot Thomas W. Altridge Jr was testing out a new aircraft - the F11F. It was a relatively easy mission, fly over the Atlantic Ocean, disperse a few rounds, and then head back to base and enjoy his weekend. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way. After he released 70 rounds of ammunition, Altridge took a steep nose dive to test the plane’s maneuverability when his windshield was hit by something and his plane started losing power. His plane crashed in a nearby forest which resulted in a large fire, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition exploding. Aldridge suffered 3 broken vertebrae and a broken leg after hitting what he thought was a bird. A post-accident investigation discovered something that would embarrass Aldridge for the rest of his life - he had shot down his own plane. After firing several rounds of ammunition, he entered a nose dive - which led him straight to the ammunition he had just fired! The bullets had hit his windshield, engine, and popped a massive hole in one of the plane’s wings!
