Tzedakah & Gedolim A man walked into a store and saw the owner working and observed his two sons learning with much enthusiasm. He asked the owner why he merited such special sons and the owner answered with a story. He was known as a popular butcher back in Europe who consistently set aside money for Tzedaka. Once, after the money had accumulated to a sizable amount, he asked the Rav of the town what to do with it. The Rav told him that there were two gifted boys who could become great Talmidei Chachamim if only there was money available for them to go to Yeshiva, yet their parents could not afford it. At that time, most Bochurim stopped going to Yeshiva around Bar Mitzvah

age and went to work. The few who continued learning beyond that age were forced to travel to Yeshivos in a different region. The butcher used the money he set aside to send the two boys to Yeshiva. He remembered that one of the bochurim was named Kotler but could not remember the name of the second bochur. Later he found out that these 2 bochurim were none others then Rav Aharon Kotler and Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky. Rabbi Ephraim Wachsman said that when he repeated the story to Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky zatzal, Rav Yaakov responded that the story is 100% true and added that he was the second bochur!

4 Ways You Unknowingly Consume Too Much Sugar

Think you’ve got it under control when it comes to sugar? Think again. According to the USDA, Americans consume about 150 pounds of added sugar each year, one-third of which comes from refined table sugar, or sucrose. The rest is sugar in disguise. Sugar has no real nutritional value and a load of dangerous health risks associated with it, so it’s important to limit your intake. Ingredients: • 4 (5 oz) salmon fillets • 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup • 1 Tbsp teriyaki sauce • 1 Tbsp pineapple juice • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger • 1 clove garlic, mashed Directions: 1. Place salmon fillets in a plastic bag. 2. Combine maple syrup, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice, ginger and garlic in a bowl or measuring cup. 3. Since 1949, all of China has officially used Beijing time, which is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. But, that’s where the simple stuff ends. The time is referred to by different names in all different parts of the world. In mainland China it’s called Beijing Time. Internationally it’s referred to as China Standard Time. In Hong Kong it’s Hong Kong Time. In Macau it’s Macau Standard Time, and in Taiwan it’s National Standard Time. So, if you need to call to China, it should be a bit easier for you after reading this fact. Just look at your watch and figure out what time zone you’re in.
