Wisdom of an Elder It occurred in a town in Taiwan which was situated at the bottom of the mountain close by the ocean. Each week, all the men of the town gathered to ascend the mountain where they would work in the flax fields. They would remain there the whole week toiling for their livelihood. One day, the town elder was nonchalantly gazing at the ocean when he turned around in frenzy and said, “The ocean is not behaving in its usual way”. The townspeople could not help but wonder why their elder cared so much about the ocean and its way. He hurriedly asked one of the

people to bring him a torch and fire. The people thought perhaps their elder is about to conduct some kind of ritual in order to calm the waters. However, the elder with a lit torch in hand went immediately to the flax field and then to the townspeople’s disbelief he set it on fire. They stood there; their jaws open, thinking what will be with their livelihood now? How will they live? The people in the town down below soon smelt smoke and noticed that it was coming from the mountain. They saw the massive fire engulfing the flax fields and started screaming “fire - fire!” All the women and children

hurried to obtain buckets of water and they ran up the mountain as fast as they could. That was precisely when the tsunami commenced and understanding dawned amongst the townspeople as they comprehended that with his immense wisdom their elder had saved all of their lives. How many times do we feel that things go wrong in our life for no apparent reason? We must always
remember that somewhere above there is Someone looking out for us all the time with tremendous love, care and devotion. Though thinks can at times look bad in our eyes, we must realize that all that does occur is in our best interest. We cannot perceive the reasons, but we must trust and believe in the wisdom of the one above.

Are You Gluten-Sensitive?
What does gluten-free really mean? Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye products. Most cereals and breads contain gluten. Gluten-containing grains include wheat, barley, bulgur, couscous, matzo, spelt and rye. Some oat products have questionable amounts of gluten.

Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies Who doesn’t love a deliciously divine chocolate chip cookie? Ingredients: 1 stick softened butter (125 grams) 6 tbsp sugar 6 tbsp brown sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla 1 ¼ cup flour ½ tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt 11 broken pieces Oreo Cookies 1 cup chocolate chips Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F 2. Cream butter and sugars until well combined 3. Add egg and vanilla until mixed well 4. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl and stir to combine 5. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and then stir in the Oreos and chocolate chips until all combined 6. With a medium cookie scoop, scoop onto baking sheet. 7. Bake for 10 minutes or until ready, but still soft. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
