After so many comments on the last months front cover I have remained along the same theme, summer cocktails! This month it is the Mojito. To make it, simply mash 10 sprigs of mint and one teaspoon of sugar together. Add dark or light rum and lime juice and pour over ice, then top up with soda water, mmm lovely! Inside this month we are packed with information on the area, turn to page 55 for our quarterly property feature. Or if you are looking for things to do over the summer holidays this months magazine is full of ideas. There is a new festival in Sedella, Dia de Trilla on the 14th July, read all about it on page 34. Also, on the August 9th Bar Fernan is host to Competa Rocks. Many local bands and music artists have got together to provide a varied evening of entertainment for charity. Tickets are on sale now, for more information turn to page 24. Feria months are now upon us, check with your local town hall for dates in your area. The dates for the Competa feria are the 18th - 22nd July. On the 16th of July there is the Feria del Carmen which can be seen celebrated well locally in Velez Malaga and Nerja. These name just a few of the ferias and festivals this month. . Enjoy and Keep Reading (and looking for that wine glass!) The Editor

content of the new municipal reform bill drawn up by the Ministry of Tax and Local Administration. Among other measures the bill abolishes salaries for mayors of villages with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. This would affect a quarter of all the municipalities in the province of Malaga. Of a total of 101, 25 have a population of less than a thousand. Some of their mayors, however, are already carrying out their municipal duties for nothing or are earning a symbolic salary. The reform’s aim is to save more than seven billion euros in 20132015. It establishes that 82 per cent of local councillors across the country will earn no basic salary.

NEWS IN SPAIN News from around the Country

A

pair of British tourists spent a night in the cells after refusing to pay for paella which they hadn’t ordered. In addition they have been fined for resisting police arrest. The British Couple probably won’t be coming back to Spain after an experience in a Granada restaurant last May. Geoff Cox and Briget Keyes noted that there was an extra 15€ on their bill and when they told the waiter an argument broke out. The tourists continued not to pay for what they had not ordered and the waiter called the police. After a bit of a struggle with the police the agents took them to the station where they spent the night and were also fined 600 € for resisting arrest. Their shoes were taken and they were not given any food or drink. The next day Geoff Cox found a lawyer and an interpreter and he was told he was accused of assaulting a police official, resisting arrest and defrauding a restaurant. Brian Cox was told he could spend a year in prison if he

was found guilty. Finally they were released after the case was taken to court where all charges were dropped. Now the British couple say they want compensation for damages, they estimate the affair has cost them 700 € adding the cost of returning to Granada for the court case, and for paying the court costs

The judge took a week to decide that the bank had not informed them of the conditions so the contract was null and void. The bank did not appeal against the sentence and have had also to pay 4% interest on the money for the period since the date the case was brought to court.

bull was on the loose in the Avenida de Europa on June 18th. Several pedestrians recorded the event on their mobile phones and many recordings have since appeared on You Tube. The animal had escaped from a lorry on the way to the abattoir and then rammed four parked cars. Eventually, the lorry driver managed to take control of the animal and got it back into the lorry with help from the police who were in the area at the time.

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA Maggie Hutton updates us on her walk in aid of Cudeca

A

s a follow-up to my article in the April edition of this magazine I can proudly report that my daughter Ella and I successfully completed the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. We walked for 34 days without a break, averaging 27 km per day, our longest day being 37 km and the shortest 20 km. The individual stages added up to 910 km, but when we take into account a few wrong turns and the daily reconnoitre of the villages where we stayed, our total distance walked would be nearer 950 km. We walked every step (no buses or taxis), and carried our packs on our backs (about 8 kilos). We stayed in albergues, sharing dormitories with up to 30 other people, many of whom were competing for the 'loudest snore' award. We encountered all terrains - up and over the Pyrenees and many other ridiculously steep hills, to the totally flat land of the meseta. We met with every type of weather- snow on the ground at the start together with lovely sunshine for a few days, then drizzle, then howling gales that almost knocked us over, then we had to battle through a hail storm followed by snow and a heavy frost, then severe rain, then a mixture of cloudy sunshine which

10 The Grapevine

was ideal walking weather, then back to heavy rain for a few days towards the end of our journey. The scenery was stunning. We walked alongside many rivers, through pine and beech forests and along tracks running between lush green fields of waist-high crops rippling in the breeze. I discovered the absolute beauty of the tiny stone built villages of Galicia and the amazing variety of wild flowers growing alongside the tracks. But we also had to slog through endless kilometres of industrial and commercial areas to pass through Burgos, Leon and a few other cities. It was a journey of contrast and discovery. I particularly discovered how well the body recovers from exertion, how walking uphill is only painful until you reach the top, and then you have the wonderful views to admire while you catch your breath. I learned to listen to my body and give it a rest when it was tired. I found that one needs very little to be comfortable, and that comfort is so much more important than appearance. There were a few low points amongst the many highs. Walking in the rain became harder on the second and third days when there were no facilities to dry our clothes overnight. And the food on offer in many places was devoid of fresh fruit and vegetables which

Ella and I craved. My ultimate high points were reaching Santiago and attending the pilgrims' mass at the cathedral. Although I am not religious I was transfixed by the beauty of the ceremony. Then we walked for a further five days to Muxia and Finisterre, and after three days the rain stopped and I had my first glimpse of the sea in glorious sunshine. I spent my first rest day in five weeks strolling on the beach and in the evening I walked to the lighthouse to watch the sun sink into the sea. It was magic. Meanwhile, my partner David had been raising sponsorship on my behalf from the wonderful and generous people of C贸mpeta and Canillas de Albaida. There was also a raffle for two prizes of a meal for two, kindly donated by Oscar of Taberna de Oscar and by Sergio of La Casona. The winners were drawn at a presentation of my camino, made to the Axarquia Garden Club on 11 June. Thanks to such amazing generosity we have now raised 875 euros for Cudeca. Whilst on my journey I wrote a daily blog which many people have found interesting. If you would like to take a look you can find it at http://magwood.wordpress.com.

DRUNKEN PARROTS AND CANDY FLOSS Campo Cuttings by Lorraine Cavanagh

O

nce you've lived here a while and planted all the jacarandas and mimosas you want to, it can be a little difficult to find trees that are a little out-of-the-ordinary. Following on from last month's article, we've got two more beauties for you in stock at the Garden Centre, and these are both spectacular flowering trees. The first is tabebuiaimpetiginosamore commonly known as the Pink Lapacho or Pau D'Arco tree. Believed to be indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago, it is widespread through South America and into Mexico. When you learn that it belongs to the bignonia family (like so many of our greatest climbers) you'll know that you're in for a flowering treat! It forms a large deciduous tree, up to around 30m high and with a very large and imposing canopy – a real jaw-dropper when its massive branches are festooned with pink frilled flowers. To add to the show, as the flowers develop, the tree drops its leaves so you are left with a pink froth like giant candy floss. The flowers, when they first open, have a pronounced golden throat which fades to pink as they mature. Once the magnificent flowering is over, spreading a rosy carpet under its fett, the tree will releaf. The tree becomes very drought tolerant, loving a hot sunny

30 The Grapevine

position and tolerant of many soils. It is listed as being hardy down to -7C. The grey bark is tough and the wood is a pleasant yellow colour, extremely hard and often used as structural timbers because of its strength. The inner bark is very well-known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is scraped and made into a tea known for its cool and bitter flavour. It is commonly used to treat malaria, fevers, arthritis, skin problems and syphilis. It is one of the many plants with fame as an anti-cancer drug. Crossing continents to Africa, we can find schotiabrachypetala, the weeping boer bean, tree fuchsia or African walnut. It is endemic to dry areas of the bushveldtthrough the Eastern Cape and up into Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The tree is beautiful, medium sized to around 15m high with a handsome and symmetrical canopy. The young foliage is coppery, bright green when juvenile and maturing to a rich dark glossy green. In frost-free areas it will remain evergreen, losing its leaves briefly in colder areas. The springtime flowers are spectacular, produced in masses of rich red on the old wood. They produce copious amounts of nectar which weeps from the tree – hence its common name, the weeping boer bean. Don't plant this one over paved areas or as

shade for a car port! Individual trees can flower at distinctly different times to ensure a longer feeding season for nectar-loving birds and bees. In its native habitat it is abuzz with wildlife during the flowering and later seeding period and, hence, it's other popular name of the Drunken Parrot Tree! The boerbean (or farmers bean) is a name given to the entire schotiafamily because of their edible seeds, very like the domestic broad bean. Although low in fat and protein, they have avery high carbohydrate content and were commonly used as a coffee substitute. It will appreciate a warm sunny position and can be quick-growing if watered liberally during the summer months; it is hardy down to -5C. It is an excellent shade tree and beautiful specimen planting. Like the Pink Lapacho tree, a tea is concocted from the bark but this one is said to be excellent for hangovers! It is also good for heartburn, purifying the blood, heart conditions and facial saunas! The bark also produces a redbrown dye. The heartwood of the tree is a dark walnut colour, almost black, heavy and termite resistant. It is popular for furniture making, flooring and, more traditionally, for beams for wagons. Try either - or both - of these flaming beauties and light up your garden. Don't forget our SUPER SUMMER SALE – 16TH July to 27th July. Almost all plants at half price! Lorraine Cavanagh owns the specialist garden centre Viveros Florena, Competa, Malaga (garden centre, designers & landscapers) and is author of the bestselling Mediterranean Garden Plants. .My new book, Citrus, The Zest of Life is now on sale at the garden centre or on-line through their web page.- Keep checking the web page for latest news, stock etc. at the garden centre. ROMÉ ROSÉ FROM THE AXARQUIA Bodega Bentomiz Reports

M

oscatel is the grape variety that dominates Málaga´s Axarquía, specifically the Moscatel de Alejandría. This fabulous grape, grown all over the steep hillsides here, is eaten fresh, dried into big, tasty raisins and pressed into wine. In recent years its potential in the highest quality fine wines – both sweet and dry – has been growing rapidly. It was the inspiration for the white wines, sweet and dry, made by Sayalonga winery Bodegas Bentomiz, now served daily in the tasting menus of three star El Celler de Can Roca, rated as the World´s best restaurant. But, contrary to the myth, it is not the only local grape. The little known varietal Romé is actually an Axarquía original, being indigenous to this very region. It is grown particularly on the higher fincas, on land within or beside the natural park. This wonderful grape has an entry in Wine Grapes, the recent book on different vines by José Vouillamez, Julia Harding and England´s only Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson.

32 The Grapevine

Bodegas Bentomiz first made use of it in their Ariyanas Tinto de Ensamblaje, in combination with Petit Verdot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Franc. The grapes, in addition to a creamy texture, bring hints of red fruit to the wine, which can be brought out by allowing it to breath before drinking. This red has just been listed as one of the 90 Spanish summer wines recommended by Spanish national newspaper ABC in their ABC del Vino supplement – it is the only wine from the whole of Andalusia to make it into the list! The success of the red encouraged the Bodega to give Romé a chance to take centrestage. They have just bottled the Bodegas' first Rosé, made from this local grape. Many wine-lovers think of themselves in terms of colour – white or red – until it becomes a habit rather than a choice. But Rosé cuts across this cliché. This is wine that incorporates some of the colour from the grapes' skins, but not enough to qualify it is as a red. The crushed grapes and grape skins are briefly left in the must: they endow it with that

lovely delicate colour. The reputation of rosés, which had been in the doldrums because of inconsistency and a glut of the cloyingly oversweet, has been transformed. Suzy Atkins, writing in The Telegraph, described them as “rather modish” and put it down to improvements in modern wine-making. She comments: “To be truly en vogue, then, pick a dry, youthful European pink and chill it hard to emphasise that fresh shiver of acid.” That's a close match to your new local wine! Ariyanas Romé Rosado is a beautiful pale pink colour. Its scent is flowery, reminiscent of the rose petals that are shown tumbling down the bottle´s handsome label. It taste hints more to the white than the red, being delicate, light and fresh. It offers a nice mineral tang on the finish. It pairs beautifully with fish or shellfish, and is fabulous on its own. Enjoy it chilled on the terrace – the perfect summer wine. (See ad. on p.16)

DIA DE LA TRILLA - 14th JULY New festival of Sedella

T

he townhall and good people of Sedella are proud to present the first "Dia de la Trilla" on the 14th July. Things kick off at Midday. What on earth is that you may ask? Fiesta of what?! To trillar means to thresh and part of the fiesta is a demonstration of this traditional art that was part and parcel of everyday life in our white washed villages. Also, on offer is the opportunity to sample local dishes and goodies on offer from local companies based in the Axarquia at a small mercadillo. At 2pm in the Plaza there shall be local dishes on offer for all to try. Goodies such as gazpacho (wonderful in the heat), hinojos (a stew of aniseed and blood sausage), ensalada cateta (a potato and orange salad) and goat. This is free and provided by the townhall. If you fancy a boogie a band shall play from 2pm onwards and another great idea is the "tapasporte". You can obtain your tapasporte from the bars in the Sedella and if you order a drink you get a tapas to sample along side it. Each bar has a stamp and after you obtain a stamp from each bar you are entered into a

34 The Grapevine

raffle. Not a bad way to pass an afternoon! Sedella also has a cracking visitors centre in the village, it is open Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 2pm and then from 5pm to 9pm. It has information in all languages and a brilliant area showing all there is to know about the natural park and the area using touch, smells, sounds, ect.. It also has an area for kids to play and draw and a small but good shop with goodies of all sorts. What else can you do in Sedella? Well it is part of the Mudejar route and boasts a tower that dates back to 500 years ago. The nicest way to view this is with a cool beer and a good tapas at the Plaza bar! There is also a Roman bridge which is well signposted and worth the 10 min walk for the amazing views. The walk is suitable for all ages and the photo opportunities are abound. Sedella is a beautiful village but what makes it special is it is so friendly. The setting is stunning, right at the foot of Maroma and with views to the sea. The name Sedella comes from the Queen Isabal, during a battle between Moors and Christians in an area of the village called the "Arroyo de la matanza" she was informed of the war and replied

with "SE-DE-ELLA". Meaning I know of it..The name stuck. The village is steeped in history and although is developing with the times...it retains it roots and is proud to do so. The Mayor of the Sedella José Antonio Gutiérrez Gutiérrez says "We are really excited to introduce the first "Day of the Trilla" to Sedella. We welcome with open arms visitors to the village and invite them to enjoy themselves learning about a traditional labour and to taste the delicious foods of the area” "Sedella is in the heart of the natural park and we guarantee visitors shall be impressed with the beautiful views and the friendliness of the Sedellanos" Parking is easy on the day of the fiesta, cars can be parked on the fiesta ground on the outskirts of the village. This is within easy walking distance to the centre of Sedella. Sedella is located 8 kilometres from Canillas de Aceituno and 20 mins from Competa. Come along and join in the fun of this first "Dia de la Trilla", what better way too spend a Sunday than eating good food, dancing and learning an art that was a way of life in this beautiful village. See you there!

ACTION FOR ANIMALS Help foster an animal this month

T

his month Action for Animals is asking for your help to foster or offer a permanent home to one of the animals featured on this page. Do you have space in your heart and in your home for one of them?

This friendly boy is currently being cared for by a kind family who love him dearly. Sadly, they are about to go travelling and will no longer be able to foster him. Can you offer him the loving home he deserves?

These tiny kittens were found abandoned in the rubbish bins in Competa, only a day or so old. Currently being fostered and bottle fed by Beth, one of our wonderful volunteers, they will soon be ready to go to their new homes.

This cute, affectionate kitten with a little kink in his tail, turned up in the middle of nowhere, on the doorstep of a house in the Archez campo. He is currently being fed by the couple who are there on holiday, but they will be returning to the UK at the end of their vacation. How will he survive once they leave? Can you take him in?

work is to neuter all stray animals on the streets of Competa and surrounding villages and to provide financial assistance to anyone who is unable to meet the costs of neutering their pets. By doing so, we hope to eliminate the heartless dumping of unwanted animals such as those shown on this page. If you, or anyone you know, has a pet that needs neutering, please tell them about our neutering programme and send them along to the Action for Animals Charity Shop at Avenida de la Constitucion 59, Competa, to have a chat with Nina. Opening hours are: Monday to Friday 10-2 and Saturday 10-1.30 Telephone: 660586040 We always need your unwanted goods to sell and rely on your support to continue our work.

This sweet little fellow, around 10 weeks old, was found living in a drainpipe in Jatar. Can you offer him a nicer place to live? We can arrange transport to bring him to you.

Many thanks! This gorgeous, timid mastin cross pup was thrown over the fence of an 80 year old animal-loving British woman in Archez. She already has many rescue animals and simply cannot keep him. Can you offer him a happy future? Action for Animals has no refuge of its own and although we do our best, re-homing unwanted and abandoned animals is an extremely difficult task for us. For this reason, the main focus of our

My name is Andy & I took over the business from John & Lynn last September, I have plenty of experience of the business, being friends of the previous owners and also myself running a business in Puente Don Manuel that refilled & sold ink cartridges & printer supplies but also offered printing services to local customers. I am determined to carry on the good reputation that the previous owners had built up but also bring in new thinking & ideas. Design, printing & laminating services up to A3 can now be offered, business cards, flyers,

menus, brochures, posters & more can all be produced, offering a very personal service, printed literature can be produced for all sorts of occasions such as invitations & orders of service. Another new product line we have brought along is SATZUMA, a range of quirky, fun products that you never knew you needed. They make excellent unusual gifts for members of the family or friends. Some are computer related, some are practical but fun. Some have loads of bling such as diamante pink & purple mice for your computer, roll up rubber keyboards, webcam, fan & light combinations, desk fans & lights powered from your USB sockets, lens cups (yes spelt correctly), gift boxed touchscreen pen & diamante mouse sets plus others. A new line of products are refurbished printers. From our own printing experience we know that printing costs can be

The cheapest new printers around are very good and cost as little as 49 euros, but the cost of the printer is not the end of things. They come with starter cartridges that will print only a few pages. Then you have to go out & buy new cartridges sometimes costing more than the printer itself. By offering refurbished printers made by certain companies we can keep printing costs down. Some printers we have in stock are on sale locally in stores for up to 150 euros, most are WiFi capable & some will work with ipads, iphones & tablets. A typical price of a refurbished printer is between 60 & 80 euros. We offer a 3 month warranty & supply a spare set of compatible cartridges with all the printers we sell included in the price, if sold separately these are worth up to 32 euros. We can supply genuine cartridges too at an additional cost. Please come & see us at the markets in Trapiche, Puente Don Manuel & Coin to see our range of products or discuss all your printing needs, give us a call or e-mail your enquiries (See main advert on page 75.)

THE FAMILY BEHIND THE BOATHOUSE, THE BOATYARD BAR AND NOW EL PINO RESTAURANT Paul takes on another bar this time in Torrox Costa

W

ith his recent take over of El Pino Restaurant in Torrox Costa, I thought it was about time I got to know Paul the owner better and find out about his plans for all three of his bars namely The Boathouse in Nerja which he took over last year, The Boatyard Bar on Beach in Nerja Playazo which he has owned since 2007 and more recently El Pino Restaurant in Torrox Costa. Paul first moved here with his wife and 3 children (two boys and a girl) over 12 years ago. Their plan as is with so many of us expats was to slow life down a bit, whilst doing something that brought in an income for the family. Initially, they bought into half of Coastline radio where Paul became the Sales and Marketing Director. In those days there were transmitters in both Torrox and Mijas and so Coastline radio covered Gibraltar to Motril. However, three years later someone broke in and stole all the kit from their Mijas station and

46 The Grapevine

back then the equipment was hugely expensive. So, this left the question do they reinvest or not? They decided not and moved onto a different route to make money by buying and reforming houses. This strategy in a buoyant market was tremendously productive. However, over time Paul could see this wasn’t a long term idea and could see the signs of the market falling flat in the not too distant future. So, they then made a family decision to buy the Boatyard Bar. Paul was honest enough to admit buying a bar wasn’t exactly first on their list of business ideas. However, his two sons needed something to do as well as himself as their opportunities after education in Spain were limited . The Boatyard Bar was a closed entity when they took it over in 2007 and they rapidly turned it into a success. Paul opened it up and put on entertainment every night and employed a chef who spent a week putting together a new menu and buying the ingredients, then 2 days later she

went. This left Paul and his sons doing a crash course in cooking! Initially, they prepared simple stuff, chicken in a basket and some chips, basic meals they all could do at a moment’s notice. This then led to a creation of a menu of home cooked value food along with the best entertainment on the coast, which worked well. In fact the results of entertainment combined with offers on beers and cheap food were incredible, business boomed! Also, as Paul and his family learnt to cook, the menu also expanded! Paul’s business plan of allowing people to eat and drink and be entertained at low cost, is a successful one and is what he has replicated across all of his bars. The Boathouse in central Nerja was his next business take on. Paul was keen to expand his plan and had been looking for a new place for a while. Initially he looked at El Pino restaurant in Torrox first but he felt the asking price was too expensive and the owner would never get it , but they did so it wasn’t meant to be last

year. So he looked into central Nerja. Here he felt there was a gap in the market. He believed Nerja needed a true sports venue combined with his philosophy of cheap beer and food. As times have changed, more and more the budget night out has become paramount for both English and Spanish alike. The Boathouse premise came up and Paul thought with the surrounding location of hotels and apartments he had a head start already. He took over the Boathouse in Nerja, put in five TVs plus a five metre projector, offered a menu of full English breakfasts and other Standard English fare and immediately he gave what the Brits want on holiday! (Don’t groan but unfortunately this is true for many!). Therefore it is no surprise that this bar is also succeeding. A few months ago El Pino restaurant came up again and not one to miss an opportunity he went into talks with the landlord. He explained his business plan which was to gut the place: put in

To advertise call 637 028 873

TV’s and offer cheap food and beer. Beating four other proposals he was given the go ahead to take it over. Now it was the right time and right price for Paul. As good as his word he gutted the place, re painted it, opened the space up and cleaned it! Paul has given it a face lift and people have started to return to use the place after the previous rocky 6 months under different ownership. Here Paul has also employed the same philosophy of cheap food and entertainment. The Boatyard Bar has live music, no sport, The Boathouse provides sport entertainment and El Pino does both sport and music. They try to do something a bit different in each place. For example, Roast Chickens are available at El Pino and not all meal deal combos are the same in each place. One he mentioned in particular was two meals for 6.50 which also included a bottle of wine…… that is a good deal! Paul now has the luxury of the beer companies coming to him with offers and promotions and he can make

huge economies of scale. For example Carlsberg is 1euro a bottle all year round and up until recently he was able to offer Tetley at a 1 euro a pint too. The breweries now come to him and offer great prices if they need to shift anything quickly. This he is able to pass onto all his customers in all three bars. Paul opened El Pino restaurant last month and is taking things at a slow pace looking for original customers and events to come back to him and listening to what his customers want him to offer. I asked Paul if he ever takes a holiday and he says despite having great staff and family round him he works 90 hours a week and enjoys what he does. He is always thinking about new ideas and the next thing but he is keen for things to happen organically without any unnecessary pushing. This, I think may mean he would be open to the idea of another bar… but don’t tell his wife! source: pintprice.com

property without any problems. Or if you are planning to put your house on the market we can advise any need to adapt or correct your paperwork. As things were done differently in the past, you might not even be aware of the fact that you do not have a clean title deed. In addition to this, you might have built a pool, a garage, terrace or an extra bedroom without having registered this with the Land Registry and Catastral Office. Perhaps you have never had your plot measured and your deeds reflect an approximate size of the plot, without having the current necessary accuracy. If any structure was built more than 6 years ago, with the current regulations it is possible to make the necessary amendments and include this on your deeds in order to have your title deed correctly registered.

THOMAS GANT LAW Have you had your paperwork checked?

O

ver the last 5 to 6 years it has become a necessity to have an up to date title deed with no irregularities. If you wish to sell your property now it is a must to have all your documentation in order. A few years ago, everybody was much more relaxed about the issue of paperwork on a property; however things have changed substantially in this field. So, if you are planning to put your house on the market it is now imperative that you have a “clean title deed” This means that your property must be correctly registered at both the Land Registry and the Catastral Office. The size of the plot or the house, other structures such as garage or a swimmingpool must reflect what you have in

reality. This will all help to avoid problems when you find a potential buyer. The most common deal breaker in a house sale is the venders not having their paper work in order. Since the Law Decree in Andalucía 2/2012 of 2nd of February come into force, it has become a bit more difficult to make amendments to the Title Deed, in many cases because of new legal requirements. In spite of this, over the last few months we have experienced that the Authorities have relaxed a bit on these requirements, with a less restrictive or strict interpretation of new law. At Thomas Gant Law we offer our clients a free consultation or “legal check” of your properties paperwork in order to confirm whether you have clean title deed and thus allowing you to sell your

From our experience we know that the Law changes every day; however it is currently possible to make changes to your deeds. Thomas Gant Law encourages you to undertake these amendments, even if you are not planning to sell your property any time soon. This will alleviate problems in the future if you do wish to sell or irradiate potential problems for your heirs. Things haven't been the same between me and my girlfriend since the breast reduction. I thought they were big bouncy and sexy. She thought I looked like a woman.

"No problem son.", I replied "w...a...t...e...r.”

The guy who invented applause must have looked like an idiot when he first tried it out.

Just seen an elderly lady fall over in the high street. My wife immediately looked at me and said, "Don't just stand there, go and see if she needs any help." So I quickly ran across the road and said, "Do you need any help?"

I just got a phone call from a representative from Google. "We're campaigning to get people to sign an on-line petition supporting our company tax arrangements in light of the government's plans for an investigation." "You can forget it I told him. "It's the law abiding tax payer like me who suffers because of the likes Google. You're getting no support from me!" There was a pause before he added, "We know your browsing history." DAY FOR LIFE Wow, wow, wow, thank you, thank you to everyone who

86 The Grapevine

came along and supported our Day for Life in aid of Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice. I am absolutely thrilled to advise that the total amount raised through Walk and Day for Life is an amazing 4810euros, this beats the incredible 4675e that we collected last year. So a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the day such a success; All the walkers, the dogs and their generous sponsors. Inez and Enmanuel of the Alberdini Hotel for the Day for Life Venue. My wonderful team of twenty three volunteers especially the people who assisted with the stalls and activities. All the stall holders Sponsors of the children's area; La Boutique; Sugar & Spice; Eroski City of Competa. All the Tombola prize sponsors; Alberdini, la Bodega, la Casona, Jill Caldwell, Kevin Deavin, John Etheridge, EGO Hair & Beauty, Kelly Maynard, la Esquita de Miguel, Nicola (Zumba), la Taberna de Oscar, Perico, Sue Robinson, Sugar & Spice, TabernaTeteriaHierbabuena, Tin Tin, and Ellie Wright. Geoff Murrell for the live music. Everyone who supported the event. Two people deserve a special “thank you” for their generous donations to Cudeca and the day, firstly, an anonymous donation of 500euros and secondly to Stephen Condon who collected 452.50euros in

sponsor money. You are both amazing. Events like Day for Life enable Cudeca to continue offering their “special kind of caring” to all their patients through their services at the in-patients hospice; the day care centre and the doctor and nurse visiting home teams. Cindy Jones Cudeca Volunteer.
