Cruisers Yachts Rebrand Flagship Model: Introducing the New 57 Fly
Oconto, WI (November 7, 2024) – Cruisers Yachts, a renowned name in the luxury yacht industry, announces the rebranding of its esteemed 55 FLY model, now named the 57 FLY.
“At Cruisers Yachts, we always strive to improve our products and ensure they reflect the true essence of our craftsmanship. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to rename the 55 FLY to the 57 FLY. This change better aligns with the actual length of the yacht and more accurately represents its impressive scale and sophistication. The new name reflects our commitment to precision, innovation, and delivering an unparalleled experience on the water,” says Mark Pedersen, President of Cruisers Yachts.
The decision to rebrand the model came after a dedicated 1.5-year development process in which the Cruisers Yachts engineering team achieved a groundbreaking design enhancement. Originally estimated to have a length overall (LOA) of 55 feet, the yacht has been redefined with a custom swim platform that extends further into the water, bringing the total LOA to an impressive 57 feet. This accomplishment led Cruisers Yachts’ executives and dealers to rename the 55 FLY to the 57 FLY, ensuring the yacht’s title accurately reflects its size and presence.
The additional two feet in length, combined with an Italianinspired interior by De Basto Designs, gives the 57 FLY a spacious, open-concept layout and a sense of grandeur and flow. The design incorporates large windows, enhanced ceiling height, and meticulously selected materials, creating a fresh, light-filled atmosphere that feels luxuriously expansive.
Cruisers Yachts invites current and prospective yacht owners to explore the redefined 57 FLY, which offers not only greater size but also a uniquely open and modern design, making it one of the most enticing in its class.

Elco & Whaly Partner On Green Coaching Boat
If there’s one thing that’s greener than a boat with a state-of-the-art Elco electric outboard, it’s one where the hull is made from 100% recycled material. Elco has partnered with Whaly Boats to create an eco-friendly coaching boat for Fort Lauderdale-based SAIL LAST.
The coaching platform is based on the Whaly 455R. Designed as a multipurpose work and rescue vessel, the 14’ 9” center console is made from UV-resistant recycled polyethylene. Incredibly robust and virtually indestructible, it’s the ideal match for Elco’s EP-50 electric outboard and paired lithium batteries. With performance equal to a 50 hp gasoline engine, the combination powers the 455R for up to eight hours, with bursts up to 8 knots to keep pace with the sailboats.
Dedicated to creating sustainable sailing opportunities for youth, SAIL LAST never considered a traditional gasoline engine. “We selected the Elco outboard for its simplicity of operation, ease of maintenance and zero emissions,” said Tom Hansen, SAIL LAST executive director. On shore, the 455R’s batteries are charged via solar panels to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint further. SAIL LAST’s website is www.saillast.com.
“We’ve partnered with Whaly Boats on numerous projects,” said Dean Heinemann, Elco general manager. “But SAIL LAST is unique in that beyond the benefits of introducing young people to sailing, it invests 50% of its efforts into teaching STEM skills.”

When is the Best Time to Go Fishing? Freshwater Guide
Best Time for Freshwater Fishing
Since there aren’t tides in freshwater lakes and rivers, we can remove this variable. However, there still may be currents to deal with. So, the significant issues to consider as you choose the best time to go freshwater fishing include the following:
• Weather
• Currents
• Light Levels
Weather
The weather impacts freshwater fishing as much as it does in saltwater environments. Wind can push bait one way or another, waves create noise and churn the water, and clouds still affect light levels. However, the effect of fronts and changes in barometric pressure are often much more pronounced.
Rain (or a lack thereof) also has a bigger impact since it can significantly affect water levels in lakes and ponds, and lots of runoff can roil streams and rivers.
Choosing the right time to fish can also narrow your options— great rivers may turn into muddy torrents during heavy rain. However, light rain can work to your advantage by obscuring you from the fish, as the rain disrupts their view through the water’s surface. This holds true whether you’re:
• Fishing from shore
• Wading
• In a boat
Rain also washes insects and bait into the water, which can trigger a feeding frenzy for freshwater fish.
Currents
Currents in freshwater vary quite a bit depending on whether you’re fishing in a moving body of water like a river or one that’s more or less still, like a pond or lake.
As a general rule of thumb, interruptions in a moving current (like an eddy in a river) are good spots to fish, while areas of current in bodies of water that don’t have much movement (like around a spillway drain near a dam) are often hotspots.
As you decide when to fish, remember that the wind can create currents in bodies of water that usually don’t have them, and you can use this knowledge to your advantage when you choose where and when to fish.
When to Fish?
Light Levels
The sun and cloud cover position have similar effects in freshwater as in saltwater. There’s one more significant variable to consider in freshwater: shade. Quite often, on sunny days, freshwater fish look for shaded areas, whether it’s under a dock, a fallen tree, or branches that overhand the water.
You might still wonder when to fish even after considering all these factors. With so many variables at play, it can be a tough decision. The simple answer is this: go fishing whenever your schedule allows. Yes, you’ll likely catch more fish at daybreak or sunset, and aligning your trips with ideal weather or peak tides can boost your chances. But the reality is that life is busy, with commitments and limited free time. So, fish whenever you can, and remember the timeless saying: even the worst day of fishing beats the best day at work.

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD FLOTILLA 7-16 OFFERS SAFE BOATING CLASSES IN GULFPORT, FL, MEETS THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH. These classes qualify the attendee for the FWC Safe Boating Card. This card is required for most people born after January 1, 1988 to legally operate a power boat with greater than 10hp motor in Florida. The one-day class includes instruction on safety equipment, boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids, communications, trailering, legal requirements and others. Power and sailboats are covered, as well as personal watercraft. Of course, besides making a boater in compliance, the main goal of the class is to create a safer boater. Classes are offered on the second Saturday of each month. To sign up, contact Marty Richardson at (630)674-5352. Flotilla 7-16 also performs free courtesy vessel safety inspections for power and sail boats, personal watercraft, and paddle craft. The inspector will come to your location, inspect the required safety features of your vessel, and if you pass will provide a safety sticker to mount on your vessel. The inspection is a courtesy, so no action is taken if problems are found. But the vessel owner then knows of any deficiencies to correct before having an accident or being sanctioned by the Coast Guard. To get more information or to schedule an inspection, contact Howard Bush at (305)731-3580. Anyone interested is invited to attend. Contact Flotilla Commander Howard Bush for more information at (305)731-3580.
A VESSEL SAFETY CHECK - STUARTDespite numerous COVID-19 restrictions, more and more boaters are taking to the water to alleviate at-home boredom while taking advantage of the open-air benefits and more pandemic-free aspects of recreational boating. But if you haven’t been out boating in a while, are your vessel’s lights operating properly? Do you have a sufficient number of life jackets for the number of passengers aboard? Is your engine’s ventilation system up to par? To get you started on a new year boating adventure, now may be a perfect time to consider getting a 2022 Vessel Safety Check (VSC) offered by certified VSC examiners from the St. Lucie River Power Squadron, also known as America’s Boating Club of Martin County. These trained VSC examiners from the local squadron will point out safety features such as minimum requirements required by the U.S. Coast Guard, examine fundamental mechanical aspects of your vessel, and answer questions how you can have more fun safely on the water. These are just a few of the many discussion points covered in this voluntary examination. As an added plus, Vessel Safety Checks are free to boat owners. And if you don’t “pass muster” with the thorough examination, the summary report is yours and yours alone. No record of any possible deficiencies will be reported to the USCG, state agency or any other authority. Want to know more about this complimentary Vessel Safety Check program? Contact Peter Burns at (772) 486-2684 or burnspet@aol.com. St. Lucie River Power Squadron, one of more than 300 squadrons nationwide, also offers safe boating classes to the public. Check on their website, www.slrps.org, when classes will resume. Information about the parent organization is available at www.usps.org.
BUSY, CLASSES DON’T FIT YOUR TIMETABLE? THEN ADJUST OUR SCHEDULE We understand BUSY. The Banana River Sail and Power Squadron teaches a large number of classes. They are regularly scheduled throughout the year. Sometimes your schedule and our schedule do not match. Rather than have you miss a class offering we will schedule and teach any of the classes listed below whenever five (5) or more students make a request for a class. To make a class request, please call 321-2207776 or email hofmanneg@juno.com for more information or to request a class. LIST OF COURSES: BASIC BOATING: America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY OFFERS
VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS AND SAFE
BOATING CLASSES - A Vessel Safety Check is a complimentary check of your boat conducted by members of the Auxiliary, confirming that it meets both federal and state requirements for safety. No citations are issued, and the results of the safety check are not reported to any enforcement agency, but a decal is awarded to display when the vessel has passed the examination. The Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is performed at your boat, whether in a slip, at the launch ramp, or in your driveway, by a certified Vessel Examiner, at a mutuallyconvenient time. It usually takes 20-45 minutes, depending on the size of your boat. After successful inspection you are awarded a vessel safety check sticker which is affixed to your vessel near your state registration sticker. Call 727-898-1324 to find an inspector or go to www.cgaux.org/vsc/. Boating skills and Seamanship Programs ae presented by the USCG Auxiliary, Flotilla 72 each Tuesday night, 7:30-9:30 pm, 1300 Beach Drive, SE, St. Petersburg. December Bite Depends on the Weather December brings many surprises to anglers of Tampa Bay and it all depends on the weather. If it’s a warm month, we can count on large schools of redfish around the many mangrove islands and trout on the shallow flats. A warm month can keep many species such as mackerel and cobia in our bay waters which are usually gone by early November.
A cold December is all a different story all together. Look for redfish around deep water docks using live shrimp with a 1/0 circle hook and a small split shot about 6 inches from the hook, as this keeps the bait close to the bottom where the water is warmer and the fish are most active. Flounder is another species you can count on around docks this time of year. For them I prefer using a small jig head with a small live shrimp hooked through the tail (not the head) and dragged along the bottom.Cast the jig towards the shoreline parallel to the dock and bounce it along the bottom until you reach the front of the dock. Continue this method on both sides of the dock going from one dock to another, as this allows you to cover the entire area
around a dock where the flounder are waiting on their prey.
Snook would have made their way up the rivers and creeks looking for warmer water. Remember that snook slow down on their bite this time of year, so cut bait works great on the bottom. Live medium shrimp with the tail cut off is another great bait to use. I prefer once again to use a small split shot to keep the bait on the bottom and in many cases I will work the shrimp along the edges of the river or creek bed where the snook are most likely to be waiting for food.
The cold water means clear water, so you will need to drop down on the size of your leader and tackle to help increase the bite. I notice in cold water months I have to down size my leader in some cases to 15 pounds in order to get the fish to bite. I would start with 25 pound test fluorocarbon leader and work down from there until you find what’s working for you. The lighter leader means you must take a little more time in fighting the fish but the increase on the number of bites is well worth it.

super good to us as well! We are getting tons of them on the long range fishing trips using cut threadfins or cut squid.
Triggerfish are still open through the rest of the year too. We are seeing plenty of these great eating fish too. Great time to go get some on cut squid or bonita offshore right now. They like something around 2 inches long and about a quarter inch wide and tall like a little rectangular strip that is inviting to their smaller mouths.

• Red grouper: Open until the end of June
• Triggerfish: Open all year except June & July
• Amberjack: Open May, September & October
Scamp grouper are coming up quite a bit on threadfin and live pinfish. While we aren’t seeing tons they are definitely being caught and are such great eating grouper to target.

Through the Cold: A Day with Joe and Mandy
The day started with high hopes as I invited my boss, Joe, and his wife, Mandy, for a day on the water. Tania, who had been up all night and was too exhausted to join, stayed home to rest. I met Joe and Mandy at the dock at 6:30 a.m., where the brisk 49-degree morning. The forecast called for 2-3-foot seas at 7 seconds with 5-knot winds, so I decided to run to the boils, hoping for some solid action.
The journey to the boils proved a bit “sporty” as the wind was stronger than predicted. My guests handled the ride well, though it was chilly, and they were bundled up against the cold. The water was murky upon arrival, which tempered my expectations, but we remained hopeful.
The bite started slow, but we eventually stirred up some action. Joe missed the first bite, jokingly claiming he wanted me to catch the first fish—a suggestion I warned could bring bad luck to the boat. Ironically, I caught the first fish: a small jack crevalle. Superstition aside, we managed to catch eight more jacks, one bluefish, and a few mutton snappers during our time at the boils. The targeted species, however, eluded us.
Around 9:30 a.m., we decided to head back into the river, where conditions were much more comfortable. Drifting south and jigging proved productive, as we caught a variety of fish, including an impressive 3 1/2ft bonnethead shark— one of the largest I’ve ever seen.
Despite not landing our intended targets,
with Captain Craig Korczynski
Happy Holidays to all!
Inshore fishing this month provides a variety of species to target throughout the water column. Live bait and artificial enthusiast all get cracks at fish.
Snook season closes December 15th, but that should not stop anglers from targeting them. Snook fanatics can find stellar action near deep channels, docks, and sea walls. Live bait, shrimp, DOA 3” shrimp and DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad, great baits to get the strike. Back bays and canals are great areas to locate snook and it is not uncommon to catch four different species of snook. Night time fishing also a great choice to target snook, fly fishing offers many strikes and drag screaming action.
Tarpon fishing continues to shine, the silver king will be plentiful in bays, canals and channels. Live bait shrimp and mullet drifted with the tide best technique to hook a tarpon, artificial enthusiasts can also get in the action. A DOA 3 inch shrimp in glow, DOA terror Eyz and a Rapala sub walk entice strikes. Typical size of the tarpon range from 5 to 50 pounds.
Jacks, drum, trout, bluefish and lady fish all roam the flats and channel edges, look for bait schools or birds in the area helping to locate fish. A good bottom machine like the humminbird
solix with side scan and down imaging helps pinpoint fish on or near the bottom. Live shrimp freelined, 3” DOA Shrimp or a DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad in glow holographic will get you hooked up.
Well that is the fishing report for the Palm Beach, Jupiter area. I hope you all enjoyed so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines! Visit us on Facebook and Instagram
the day was enjoyable. Joe and Mandy were great company, and we shared plenty of laughs along the way. Though a few months off the water left me rusty in finding the “right” fish, it felt great to be back in action, and the shared experience made for a memorable outing.
As always, the beauty of fishing isn’t just in the catch but in the time spent with good people on the water. Tania and I send our best wishes to all fellow anglers. May your fishing adventures be safe, blessed, and filled with tight lines and good times! Until next time, keep casting and chasing those dreams on the water.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - Mudville Grille - 3105 Beach Boulevard - Capt. Russell is happy to be a sponsor of the Florida Lure Anglers Club in Jacksonville, Fla. The FLA is not just a club for professional anglers, they are promoting saltwater lure fishing at all levels, especially among beginners. Guests are welcome to come and join our monthly meetings and listen to our guest speakers who discuss a wide variety of fishing techniques and helpful tips for all anglers. Meetings are held the last Monday of every month at the Mudville Grille located at 3105 Beach Blvd. Doors are open at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.
