CADILLAC, MI – November 27, 2024 – Highfield Boats USA, the leading supplier of rigid inflatable boats (RIBS) in America with nearly a 30-percent market share, expanded its U.S. sales network by an unprecedented 15 dealers in 2024 to support growing domestic demand for its outboard- and jet-powered RIBS. Florida Surf and Turf with HerbCitrus Butter and Garlic Snap Beans

Ingredients:

• 1 (6- to 8-ounce) Florida spiny lobster tail, cut in half lengthwise

• 1 (10- to 12-ounce) Florida beef tenderloin steak

• 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, parsley), chopped fine

• 1 teaspoon all-purpose Florida seasoning (such as Everglades)

• 1 teaspoon olive or vegetable oil, for cooking

• 10-12 ounces Florida snap beans, snapped at stem

• ½ teaspoon fresh garlic, chopped fine

• 1 tablespoon Florida Herb-Citrus Butter, plus additional melted butter for dipping

• ½ lemon, squeezed

• Sea salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste

Preparation:

Preheat a medium-sized sauté pan over medium-high heat. Season all sides of the beef tenderloin with ¾ of the seasoning blend and half of the chopped herbs. Add the cooking oil to the preheated sauté pan. Carefully add the seasoned beef tenderloin to the preheated pan. Cook the tenderloin for 2 to 4 minutes on each side. When the desired doneness is reached, remove tenderloin from the pan, allow to rest and top with a pat of Florida Herb-Citrus Butter. The butter should start to melt over the cooked tenderloin, adding lots of flavors and serving as a sauce.

Season each half of the Florida lobster with the remaining seasoning blend and chopped herbs. Add the lobster tails facedown to the same preheated pan where the beef was cooked along with the fresh snap beans. Cook the lobster tail halves for about 3 to 4 minutes. Turn the lobster over and continue to cook until meat is just opaque in the center, about 3 minutes. The snap beans will be done cooking about the same time as the lobster, depending on desired crunchiness. Remove the lobster from the pan and let it rest. Season the snap beans with the fresh garlic and a squeeze of lemon juice. Squeeze more fresh lemon juice over the cooked lobster tails. Serve the Florida beef tenderloin and spiny lobster with the snap beans on a large plate to share. Serve with extra melted herb-citrus butter for dipping.

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD FLOTILLA 7-16 OFFERS SAFE BOATING CLASSES IN GULFPORT, FL, MEETS THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH. These classes qualify the attendee for the FWC Safe Boating Card. This card is required for most people born after January 1, 1988 to legally operate a power boat with greater than 10hp motor in Florida. The one-day class includes instruction on safety equipment, boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids, communications, trailering, legal requirements and others. Power and sailboats are covered, as well as personal watercraft. Of course, besides making a boater in compliance, the main goal of the class is to create a safer boater. Flotilla 7-16 also performs free courtesy vessel safety inspections for power and sail boats, personal watercraft, and paddle craft. But the vessel owner then knows of any deficiencies to correct before having an accident or being sanctioned by the Coast Guard. - STUARTDespite numerous COVID-19 restrictions, more and more boaters are taking to the water to alleviate at-home boredom while taking advantage of the open-air benefits and more pandemic-free aspects of recreational boating. But if you haven’t been out boating in a while, are your vessel’s lights operating properly? Do you have a sufficient number of life jackets for the number of passengers aboard? Is your engine’s ventilation system up to par? To get you started on a new year boating adventure, now may be a perfect time to consider getting a 2022 Vessel Safety Check (VSC) offered by certified VSC examiners from the St. Lucie River Power Squadron, also known as America’s Boating Club of Martin County. These trained VSC examiners from the local squadron will point out safety features such as minimum requirements required by the U.S. Coast Guard, examine fundamental mechanical aspects of your vessel, and answer questions how you can have more fun safely on the water. Vessel Safety Checks (VSC):

Vessel Safety Checks are a crucial component of the Clearwater Flotilla’s mission to enhance boating safety. Trained and certified examiners will be available throughout the year to conduct complimentary VSCs for local boaters. These checks cover a variety of safety aspects, including life jackets, navigation lights, fire extinguishers, and other essential equipment. By participating in a VSC, boaters can ensure that their vessels meet all required safety standards, fostering a safer maritime environment for all.

Boat America Classes:

The Clearwater Flotilla is also pleased to announce the schedule for Boat America classes in 2024. These classes provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of boating safety, navigation rules, and emergency procedures. Whether you’re a seasoned boater or a newcomer to maritime activities, these classes offer valuable insights and practical knowledge that can contribute to a safer and more enjoyable boating experience. Reel Blessed Vamos A Pescar Event

On Saturday, December 7th, we successfully completed the final event for the Reel Blessed Vamos A Pescar grant. After multiple postponements due to poor weather, we were determined to finish the grant by the end of the year, even though conditions weren’t ideal.

Tania and I arrived at Blue Heron Beach at 7:00 a.m. to set up. As the first ones on the beach, we secured a great spot with enough space for all the rods. By 8:00 a.m., we welcomed five families (13 participants in total) and were joined by our amazing team of five volunteers, all of whom are fellow Salt Strong Insiders.

The day started with calm winds and flat seas, giving us hope for a productive fishing day despite the cold weather. However, the wind picked up as the families began to arrive, and the ocean became

increasingly rough.

We began the event with a prayer, followed by a surf fishing demonstration. I showed everyone how to set up pompano rigs and use Fishbites bait with 4oz Sputnik sinkers. A special thanks to Captain Paul Sperco, who made this event possible with his generous contributions: Fishbites donated the bait, The Sinker Guy donated the sinkers, and Captain Paul handcrafted the rigs!

Despite the rough conditions, we fished from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. During that time, we managed to catch a pompano, an Atlantic threadfin (glassnose whiting), and a whiting. By late morning, the ocean had become so rough that even the 4oz Sputniks couldn’t hold, prompting us to wrap up the fishing portion of the event.

Hard to imagine but the end of the year is almost here. The charter boat industry had a rough fall season this year. Whether it was the countless storms and hurricanes that hit Florida (and although they all went to the west coast, it was enough to keep people from visiting Florida), or whether it was the political turmoil with the election, it has been the slowest fall I have experienced in 20 years. Luckily that is all behind us and we are ever so hopeful that this winter business will rebound. Hopefully that’s true as it has been one of the better starts to winter fishing that I have seen in the past few years. Sailfish are already here and in decent numbers. This November we saw and caught a lot of juvenile sailfish which has got to be a good indication of their population and suggest that the next few years will be even better. Now we are seeing more of the adult sailfish and have been consistently catching a few and as many as 7 per trip. Most of the sailfish have been caught on the kite baits and a few on flatlines. It’s hard to imagine but after a lifetime of chasing sailfish, I still get super excited when I see one show up on the baits! We

have also had very consistent action with mahis while kite fishing for sailfish. It’s always a bonus when you can catch great eating fish in between your sailfish bites.

Another great start to winter fishing has been the wahoo fishing in the Bahamas. Last year unfortunately we did not have any trips to the Bahamas for high-speed trolling for wahoo. This year we have had four trips already and all the trips were a success. Our best trip we caught 10 wahoo and there is really no sound like the sound of a reel when a wahoo strikes while you are high speed trolling. You are already going at 15 knots when you are trolling, and the speed of a wahoo is estimated to be over 40 mph. Imagine the speed of the line going off the reel at that moment. It sounds like the reel is about to explode. This is a time when you really got to make sure all your tackle is in top notch shape. Crimps, leaders lures, knots all better be perfect! This fishery goes on well into March so get together a crew and let’s go have a blast wahoo fishing in the Bahamas.

Swordfishing has also been outstanding. We have caught a swordfish on every single trip since August except for the last trip.

Our last trip we had a swordfish on the bouy rod, but unfortunately the fish came off while fighting it. I was determined to catch one that day and we stayed later that normal and in overtime, we had a swordfish hit the bait 10 times and no matter how we manipulated the bait the swordfish would not commit and eventually after 10 minutes faded off. Besides that, trip though, we were lucky enough to catch one every trip.

As you see fishing is very good, so it is time to book your winter trips. For all my customers from throughout the United States (especially my loyal customers from the NE) that come every year, now is the time to look at your schedules and book your trips. Christmas time is always a busy time of year, and we are fully booked between Christmas and all the way through Jan 9th. I have a few days the week before Christmas so if you are down here for the Holidays, grab those dates before they are gone.
