Oclean X Pro Elite Smart Electric Toothbrush Ever since having a baby I’ve become an incredibly light sleeper, anything can wake me to the point where one morning the sound of my partner’s electric toothbrush woke me, it sounded like he was brushing his teeth with a hammer drill.

The first thing that stands out with the Oclean X Pro Elite, it is so quiet, it operates below 45 dB, so even me with my super hearing, a five-month-old and two cats all remain undisturbed. Not only is this great for sharp eared family members but it will ease you into the morning without rattling your brains awake first thing, even on its most powerful settings. The Elite looks sleek with a 0.96inch colour touch screen built into the body, it has an IPX7 rating which means it can accompany you into the shower when you are pushed for time in the morning. It comes with a colour matching wall mounted holder where it can dry after use safe from being accidently knocked over, this could be improved by allowing the brush to be charged from this position.

This brush is compatible with wireless Qi Quick Charge which will give it a full charge in just 3.5 hours, this will then last for about a months’ worth of cleaning. The X Pro Elite uses a magnetic levitation high-powered motor that can produce speeds of up to 42,000 rpm, the DuPont Diamond Bristles can clear smoking and tea stains whilst protecting the gums and enamel. A personalised brushing plan can be set and will instruct you via touch, the dental model will be displayed on the screen too, the IoT capabilities produce detailed brushing reports on the companion app, it is here you can also customise your brushing plans. It’s a shame the brush can take in this information but can’t provide you with any feedback whilst you are brushing, if you are brushing too hard for example. There are 32 intensity settings for each brushing mode, this feels a little like overkill, you will always be questioning if you have the right settings. When it comes to the options we feel less is more, in fact the whole app could be simplified to be a lot more intuitive. The X Pro Elite is a reasonably priced brush, it feels ultra modern and provides a comfortable, quiet and deep clean, the app needs improvement and a bit of feedback whilst you brush would be good but overall this is good value for money.

Lupe Pure Cordless Vacuum We have reviewed quite a few cordless vacuums over the last five years and the main issue with them tends to be they are simply not powerful enough to do the job a mains power vacuum can do, enter the Pure Cordless Vacuum from Lupe.

The founders of Lupe are Lucas Horne and Pablo Montero who met whilst working together in the research and development department of a leading floor care brand.

It turned out to be a meeting of minds that culminated a shared vision: engineer class-beating cleaning products and in 2015 they founded Lupe. With their “do what we should, not what we could”, mantra in mind, they got to work, lots of blood, sweat and head scratching later they engineered a vacuum cleaner with strength and enduring power that’s resilient against dirt and grime as well as changes in future technology. In doing so they eradicated the things consumers found irritating about cordless vacuums - poor suction and short charge times.

The vacuum is comprised of eight main parts the brush bar head, motor body, dust collector, battery, handle, hose and two detail attachments. That might seem like a lot, but all the parts click into place with zero fumbling and all buttons, latches and controls are clearly highlighted.

The vacuum is very easy to assemble and each part can be replaced for a cost effective price meaning you could potentially have this vacuum for the rest of your life.

Upon first use you can feel the quality you are paying for, it manoeuvres fantastically well and the suction is something I have never experience in a cordless vacuum.

We used it upright at first and what’s nice is when the 5 month old starts crying you can leave it in its upright position rather than laying it on the floor or leaning it against something. Its power head is comprised of a soft black rubber front roller which snatches items while increasing suction power, and working in tandem with a reverse spinning rear brush which agitates the carpet, flinging debris into the extra large one-litre collection bin.

To use the Lupe as a stick vacuum, simply remove the handle and plug in one end of the hose. You can now reach high shelves and do the stairs and cobwebs with the detail attachments. In essence this is doing the job of two vacuums. I must admit I did baulk at the price but having now used the Lupe for a month I think this brand is going to be creeping into a lot of houses over the next few years.

ritterwerk is a German company based in Gröbenzell near Munich that has been around for just shy of 120 years. This traditional Bavarian brand focuses on free-standing and built-in kitchen appliances to make everyday food prep just that little easier. The E 16 food slicer is a multi-food slicer that can take on everything from meat, bread, cheese, fruit and veg with ease, it has a compact body at just 33.5 L x 22.5 W x 23 H centimetres so it won’t swallow up too much of your kitchen worktop.

It has a sturdy build thanks to the solid metal construction and weighs 3kg, helping it remain stable whilst you use it. The inclined design helps your food stay in position as you slice, there is a safety switch and two operating modes available. For short sessions, the blade can be set so that it will only run whilst the switch is pressed; for longer sessions, slicing up large joints of meat for example, the blade can be set to run without the switch being held down. The size of the slices can be adjusted via the wheel from wafer thin results up to 20 mm, the serrated circular blade is made from stainless steel which makes it suitable for both hard and soft foods.

There is a food tray that can be placed under the blade to catch the sliced food, keeping your hands well away from the blade, both the slicing carriage and blade can be easily removed for cleaning. The E 16 makes light work of most slicing jobs, we particularly liked that it can be used on bread as so often when slicing loaves with a knife, it ends up mangled and uneven. This food slicer is one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you have it, you will find yourself using it for a whole range of food prep, it is easy to use and gives uniform results every time.

It looks attractive, and although the majority of the components are plastic (BPA free) they feel reasonably thick, so will hopefully remain durable.

The 8000 S2 is easy to use, reasonably quiet (50-60 dB noise level), has forward and reverse functions, an overheat and overload cut-out safety system and is easy to clean. This certainly isn’t a cheap product, but the juice it produces is lovely, full of flavour, tastes delicious and healthy, better than any from the cheap juicer we had at home, and it will work quietly away in the background ensuring you get the best possible results with the least amount of effort.

Vantrue N2S The N2S from Vantrue comes nicely packaged and in the box you receive the Dual Dash Cam itself, USB to USBC Connection cable, 12V to USBC Connection Cable, suction mount and instructions. One of the first things I noticed when setting up is how the 12V connection cable plugs into the suction mount rather than the camera. This is so handy because if you have multiple cars you can buy the suction mounts and cables for your other vehicles and then just transfer the camera between them. Another cool feature is on the 12V connection cable you can slide a flap to reveal a USB charging point which, in the age of charging points in cars are like gold dust, I thought was a nice touch.

The Screen is 2 inches which is a good size and you can rotate the bezel on the mount to adjust the field of vision which is 155 degrees on the outside camera and 165 degrees on the inside camera. If you were using single lens

The software setup is very simple to use and navigate and it has some neat features such as allowing you to stamp your reg plate on the video footage along with time and date. You can choose whether to have audio recording on or off and the sensitivity of the G Sensor where it will lock recordings depending on the impact scale.

The recording loops can be 1, 3 or 5 minutes and once the SD card is full it will then rerecord over all footage which isn’t locked. Parking mode can be set up with the G Sensor for collisions and motion detection, as I live in the UK I left both on together but if you live in a hotter climate it is advised to turn the motion detection off as it can be activated through the heat vapour.

A really impressive piece of kit, everything it does it does well.

Rockfish Groundhog Wellingtons Rockfish was founded in 2003 and is a family run business that is based at an organic farm in Cornwall, spending much of their time in wellingtons boots and having been let down by other brands they set out to create their own.

Inspired by the local coastline, ocean, the granite terrain and large amounts of mud on the farm, they had the perfect setting to test out their range. Marmitek Gigaview 821 I am fortunate enough at the age of 36 and with a five month old to still be able to game in the evenings and even more fortunate to have a gaming room with a projector.

When we moved into our new house we had space under the sofa to place the projector and that is where it has remained ever since, one day we will put it on the ceiling.

Now for two reasons we were looking for a solution to get rid of the long HMDI cable that runs from the soundbar under the projector screen to the projector at the back on the room. My projector is 1080 not 4K but be warned the Gigaview 821 can only transfer full 1080 so if you are looking for a 4K solution this will not be for you.

Earin A-3 Earin who previously produced the worlds smallest earbuds have done it again producing an even smaller model with their A-3 model.

Backed by the Kickstarter community in 2014, Earin launched worldwide on October 6, 2015, with the original true wireless earbuds M-1. From that point on, the product that started it all has solidified the market interest for Bluetooth enabled earphone technology and true wireless has become a new global standard. At Earin they challenge the status quo by focusing on innovation to push the industry forward. The M-1 was added to the National Museum-Sweden´s museum of art and design as part of their permanent collection, acknowledging its place in history.

So what advancements have been made with the A-3?

Well, firstly I can confirm these are both the smallest and lightest earbuds I have ever used, size wise no dimension is larger than 0.8 inches and each one weighs 3.4 grams. The small buds lead to an equally small charging case which is a real feat of design in itself being made from aluminium with a beautiful matte finish that allows wireless charging.

They are one size fits all so you have to take a gamble that they will fit your ear shape, what is really clever is that the buds are identical so you can put them in either ear and the tech will work out whether they are in the left or right ear.

They are IP52 protected against dust and sweat, however there is no ANC to block out the sound.

Now being so small you could think is a gimmick but let me put that to rest, the sound quality these tiny little monsters kick out is immense, through the 14.3mm dynamic drives they produce a really complete sound. The sacrifice you do have to make though for the size is the small battery life where they will only run for 5 hours after a fresh charge.

Spinlock’s Deckvest LITE+ I remember kayaking a few years ago and the life jackets we were giving were so big and bulky it made rowing near on impossible, as funny as it was at the time to watch our little group struggling in these things there is a more serious side to poorly fitted life jackets.

If a life saving device is uncomfortable it can restrict movement, but it can also discourage wearing it all together. The Lite+ Deckvest from Spinlock is designed to be put on and forgotten about, this incredibly lightweight jacket has a super low profile making wonderfully comfortable. It has the name Lite for a reason, it weighs just 860g, the + in the name is for the included harness that is integrated into the life jacket and features a soft loop for attaching the safety line. The Lite+ is suitable for sailing, watersports, ribs, powerboats, fishing, angling, kayaking and other paddle sports, basically if there is water involved, it’s got your back.

When it comes to products that might save your life, colour might be at the very bottom of the list however it’s a pity this life jacket is only available at black, a couple of bright, high vis options would be good to see. Its quick and easy to put on with the side entrance and single crotch

strap, the bright yellow buckle makes it easy to locate, the soft material at the back of the neck provides all day comfort even on bare skin. There is a toggle attachment point for chest pack, and options to add a Pylon Light, Lume-On bladder illumination lights, sprayhood as well as the AIS MOB1 which is available to purchase as a stand-alone unit or supplied already fitted within the Deckvest at the point of purchase.

There is a yellow rubber handle on the left-hand side that can be used to manually fire the life jacket with a sharp tug and conversion to ‘manual only’ setting is easy enough with a Manual Conversion Kit. Saying that what makes the Deckvests a great safety jacket is the automatic inflation, the UML Mk5 Inflator is made up of a water sensitive activation system that uses a compressed paper capsule which dissolves when wet which then releases a spring to puncture the 33g CO2 cylinder. This design stops accidental inflation being cause by water, spray and rain running down the jacket, it offers 170N buoyancy and also features a manual inflation tube and bright red lifting strap for rescues.

Trekology Yizi Go Camping Chair

This year the whole country and its dog was discovering the joys of camping, long gone are the days that a night under the stars has to mean a choice between discomfort or packing a small lorry load of gear.

Camping products are getting smaller, smarter and more efficient which brings us nicely along to the Yizi Go Camping Chair from Trekology, designed to be highly portable making it not only suitable for camping but back packing, day trips and hiking. The Yizi Go is small but mighty, it can hold up to 300lbs, yet will fold down small enough to fit in a backpack, it comes in the form of two parts, the frame and seat fabric which stow away neatly in a carry case. Weighing just 2.1 lbs and measuring in at 14 x 4.3 x 6 inches when in the storage bag it is certainly travel friendly, once assembled it measures at 28 x 15.4x 12 inches and sits 15.4inches off the ground, lower than some camping chairs but still comfortable on the knees. The frame pretty much assembles itself, once the Velcro strap that holds the aero-grade 7075 aluminum alloy poles in place is undone the poles gravitate to where they belong leaving you the simple task of clicking them into place.

From here it’s just a matter of attaching the seat fabric, this 600D polyester doesn’t have a lot of give in it which means the first few times can be a bit of a wrestling match. It is best to attach the bottom corners first and then use the loops at the top corners to help pull the fabric over the pole and into place. The seat has an ergonomic cut with double reinforced V stitch and interleaved meshes for a bit of ventilation, we found the seat a little on the narrow side which could become uncomfortable for those of a larger build. There are two hand mesh side pockets attached to the seat to store your phone or other small valuables, ideal for when it becomes darker, and things can be easily misplaced. The thin material means it will dry fast if you get caught in a downpour, although its is so fast to disassemble it would have to be some very sudden rain to catch you out. The Yizi Go is great for camping but also suitable for concerts, festivals, sporting events, bbqs or as I recently discovered, feeding your baby, under a tree in the rain at the zoo.

Amok Draumr UL I have been using products from Amok for a number of year’s so I have been very excited to get my hands on the UL when I heard about the coming release last year.

Arlo Pro 4 Arlo has been a brand we have fallen in love with over the last few months and the Arlo Pro 4 like the wireless doorbell can work without being connected to a smarthub and connect directly to your Wi-Fi network, which has made this a much more affordable model at cost price starting at £220 for one camera rising to £569.99 for a 3 camera kit.

Crossrope Get Lean and Get Strong

You could be forgiven for thinking of a jump rope as a toy that kids play with whilst singing rhymes but if you have had a go with one as an adult you will realise just how much of a workout it is, you would do well to be able to catch your breath let alone sing a song.

The cycling industry is full of all sorts of products that claim to make you faster. Some focus on reducing your aero drag, others reducing the weight of the bike and some attempt to efficiently transfer the watts from your legs to the road. Many can indeed make you faster, while others are there to capitalise on the market, today we are looking at Ceramicspeed’s OSPW Alloy SRAM which comes with a four year warranty.

All CeramicSpeed products are handmade in Denmark where quality is their priority using the finest materials and superior components. Whether you are a professional athlete or an ambitious amateur, all CeramicSpeed products are made to be exactly the same.

Drivetrain efficiency is an interesting and often overlooked opportunity for going faster. Getting technical a new Shimano Ultegra groupset is said to cost approximately 20W when pedalled at 250W (90rpm)* — in other words, your rear tyre receives 92% of what you put into the pedals. And scarily, that number only gets worse as your power output increases.

Fast chain lube and a clean chain can make a measurable difference here, while other upgrades, such as different bearing seals and lubricant can have a more marginal impact, too. 100% efficiency is impossible, but narrowing the gap is not.

CeramicSpeed claims the OSPW can save you between 2-4W over a stock Shimano Dura-Ace derailleur cage system (at 250W, 90rpm), and that figure progressively improves the worse your chain maintenance and selection of chain lubricant is (or as it wears off and gets contaminated toward the end of a race). In reality, with an optimised or even well-maintained chain in use, that figure is likely closer to just 1-2W – but still, watts are watts.

Just as we know using larger cogs and chainrings are more efficient as a result of reduced chain link articulation, the same applies to derailleur pulley wheels. With regular 11-tooth pulley wheels, each link of a chain must articulate about 33 degrees as it enters and exits each pulley wheel. But with a 19-tooth pulley wheel (the largest available in any OSPW), each chain link only needs to articulate 19 degrees.

Golf Pad Tags

We have over the last 12 months reviewed a number of products that can track shots on the golf course allowing the golfer to receive statistical insights into their game.

Golf Pad was established in 2011 by a group of ex-Google engineers whose first invention was an android app which was then created for iOS. The tracking app proved to be very popular and in 2015 the Tags were released allowing the user to receive this data quicker without having to fiddle with your phone between every shot, in 2019 the Tags were then made compatible with iOS. Included in the Golf Pad TAGS are 15 club sensors and a year’s free subscription to their premium app, when compared to the other products we have reviewed from Arccos and Shot Scope the Golf Pad Tags are definitely the cheapest by quite some way. The app is really sleek as you would expect being created by ex-Google engineers and allows you to track club distances, shot dispersion, strokes gained, fairways hit or missed, greens in regulation, scoring analysis, course strategy and your putting. The tags

themselves, which use the NFC technology ion your iPhone or Android device, are simple, flat and all black, you will need to assign and pair each tag when you take them out of the box. The main difference between Golf Pad the other club-tag products is that you have to actually tap your phone with the club you are about to use before each shot. While the instructions say to tap your phone in your pocket with the club before you hit, I actually found it was more like holding the butt-end of the club so it was close to the top of the phone. Done successfully, you hear an audible and futuristic sound that tells you the shot club and location has been tagged.

Among the advanced analytics, you can get a shot-by-shot strokes-gained analysis, a neat feature if you want to see precisely which shots were your best and worst. This can help with strategy or to see which recurring themes are surfacing in order to guide your practice. You can also view shot dispersion figures by club.

Rechargeable When it comes to flashlights you shouldn’t have to choose between light weight and light performance, the PT16 from MecArmy is a super compact flashlight, it is smaller than most hamsters (the standard unit of measurement in the flashlight world) with a 1.18in head diameter, 0.88in body diameter and 2.71in in length.

This little torch weighs just 1.5oz without the battery, once the 16340 li-ion battery is onboard the weight is slightly increased but it feels more than comfortable in the hand. The PT16 is fully rechargeable and offers a maximum run time of up to 39hours and a max light output of 1100 lumens, that’s a lot for a little light. The LED used is a 3×CREE XP-G2 S4 which has a lifespan of up to 50,000hours, with an optical lens reflector which can throw out the light up to 159m. The durable outer case is has an anti-roll design and pineapple texture for a better grip, especially when wet or used with gloves. The temperature monitoring system prevents the torch for overheating at brighter settings. The IPX8 waterproof finish means this flashlight can be fully submerged under water up to two meters, there is a pocket clip and lanyard included to ensure it can be kept close to hand.

The one hand operation uses one button to toggle through the different modes, these include SOS, Strobe, Low (13lumens, 39hour runtime), Medium (90lumens, 3.25hour runtime), High (362 lumen, 2.4hour runtime) and Turbo (1100 lumen, 30min runtime). The light at the base of the flashlight turns red when it’s charging and will change to green when it’s finished in just 1.5hours. The only issue we found was that the unusual battery means you can’t keep a spare on for emergencies, however it charges via USB which means it can always be attached to a power bank for a boost.
