On Sunday, 1 December from 11.00am - 2.00pm, the Albert Town Community Association Christmas Party in the Park is happening at McMurdo Park, Dale Street.

This fun, community event has really stamped its name in the Albert Town social calendar with many families looking forward to reconnecting prior to Christmas.

A fun, family day out for all ages, with the Noddy Train, bouncy castle, face painting plus a coffee cart, Mr Whippy and the Lions Food

Stall. There are also egg 'n' spoon races with great prizes for the kids, plus the keenly contested gumboot throw for adults, as well as raffles with generous prizes, but the highlight for many is the arrival of Santa.

Food For Love’s Annual Bake Sale Returns!

Mark your calendars! Food For Love’s much-loved annual bake sale is back on Saturday, 7 December at the Mediterranean Market.

There is sure to be an incredible selection of treats - including Christmas cakes, gingerbread, festive hot chocolate bombs, shortbread, biscuits, slices, chutneys, and more - it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up for the festive season.

The sale starts at 9.00am and runs until sold out, so arrive early to avoid missing out - most items are snapped up before lunchtime!

YSAR is a New Zealand charity dedicated to helping secondary students build personal, life, and leadership skills through hands-on authentic training.

YSAR delivers a three-year youth development and training programme to secondary school aged students in the classroom, on site with sector partners, and in the outdoors. The programme is delivered through a blended learning programme of Wednesday evening classroom sessions throughout the rst three school terms, reinforced by six practical weekend exercises throughout the year and culminating in an end of year exercise.

Since 2020, we’ve worked alongside the Upper Clutha community to transform construction waste into useful stuff for schools, community groups and environmental groups in the district.

We couldn’t have done this without our amazing team of volunteers, sponsors and funders. Here’s the next four years of building great stuff in our community.

The future looks productive with WCW’s & MINT Trust’s ongoing collaboration. WCW volunteers pre-built custom adjustable tables for MINT. During their monthly visit to the workshop, members of MINT helped to sand and finish each table. It’s a win-win: MINT get versatile tables for their activities, and members gain new skills and confidence. Plus, it’s great for the environment - using waste materials reduces landfill and packaging waste.

WCW collaborates with Te Kākano and Wānaka Backyard Trapping to nurture our tamariki's appreciation for native flora and fauna. WCW volunteers have built gecko motels for Te Kākano, a local group dedicated to propagating native plants and restoring habitats, and for Wānaka Backyard Trapping, which focuses on educating communities, reducing pest populations, and protecting vulnerable native wildlife. These gecko motels are delivered to preschools in the Upper Clutha district, where kids learn about gecko habitats and the importance of conservation.
